Secrets Royal Beach: Great Resort

The hotel was very good, I was impressed by the staff, very accommodating, respectful and entertaining Juan Luis really made it a special stay for us The food had a well put together variety, very tasty. The entertainment group especially the guys on the floor mingling and dancing with people were special

Secrets Playa Mujeres: Playa Mujeres Secrets

Four of us booked a trip the last two weeks in April. It was a very clean, pretty and busy resort. All Staff wore masks, hand sanitizers everywhere and public areas were kept very clean. All the staff were friendly, accommodating and excellent, especially Marcelle, Marlene, Maria and Ross around the pool area. Food was pretty good, fresh and no issues with anything bad. The resort was very loud with lots of parties and weddings. There were no quiet areas to get away and relax and have a conversation with friends without yelling over loud bands in a tiny room. We had a great time but would definitely go to other resorts over this one.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Nice resort. But don’t think we will be back

We stayed here for 10 days for our honeymoon. Worth the price? Short answer is no. The pillows are terrible so you should probably bring your own. Rooms are nice. I don’t think the shower has ever been cleaned given the state of the glass door. Which is a big pet peeve of mine. Beach is nice. Lots of seaweed right now so you can’t swim out far at all. Everyone mostly stays at the pools. You’ll need to put a towel on the pool chairs by 8am if you want a seat for the day. They fill up  [... read more]quick. Restaurants are OK. Not very big menus not a lot to choose from. They have dinner buffet but only set them up outside by the pools. So unless you want to eat there with the wind and mosquitos you have to get room service(which is very good) or go to a restaurant. They called us a lot for turn down service. Which I’m not sure why. The rooms have a do not disturb button on them which is nice. We missed our welcome meeting because we felt we didn’t need to go. Our do not disturb sign was on as we had left for breakfast so we didn’t want our room cleaned yet and we see that they came into our room anyways and left us a note saying we missed our meeting. That put a bad taste in our mouth. We spent a lot of money on this trip. They didn’t really seem to care it was our honeymoon. Made comments that we were “young” (28&29) we had our travel agent let them know a head of time that this was our delayed honeymoon. We saw everyone else arriving all week greeted with champagne. We were not lol. We were given a top floor room in villa #7 at the very end. Right across from the club that goes until 1am. Also overlooks the service building which smelt like hot garbage some days. Coco cafe is amazing. Better than Starbucks and 24 hrs. Pools are clean. Service all day is great. I don’t usually leave lengthy reviews like this. But we spent alot for this trip and it was long awaited.

Secrets Huatulco: Excellent resort, very happy

Safe, very clean, very courteous, and friendly staff. We had no issues during our Sat-Sat trip. Staff continuously made sure we were happy. Beach is not so great, but that is just the way the sand/water is in the part of the world. It is beautiful to look at and listen too, but not so nice for swimming and beach walking as the sand is coarse. Weather was great, hot, and sunny, well into the mid 30’s C every day. We had to start getting up a 6AM to get a set of chairs. Even then, 80% or more are already staked out. Fresh towels are not available until 6:30AM. By then, there are pretty much no chairs left. People were saving towels from the night before. There is limited space around the pool edge, but more chairs and umbrellas could be placed farther back towards the grass so that everyone can relax and be in the shade. Overall, very happy with this resort and the value of this trip.

Secrets St. Martin: 3.5 star resort

Excellent location, they are short staffed for sure. Only 2 restaurants open on a daily for dinners. Rarely get chairs with umbrellas on the beach unless you are there 7am, they should have more chairs and umbrellas at the beach and poolside since there is only one pool. Only entertainment was live karaoke or 3pc band, no other entertainment, maybe due to covid not sure. Serving staff were really nice but not enough to get service. Restaurants don't need reservations but if you go after 7:30 you [... read more] might be waiting upto an hour then another hour to get food. 24 hour Cafe need more food and deserts available. Overall if they are better staffed then this would be a great relaxing getaway.

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun: Great resort

Incredible resort. Staff are amazing. Grounds impeccable. Beach beautiful and if any seaweed removed immediately. Nice and quiet and not too many people around. Food not the best, but okay, for the price would have expected higher quality/

Secrets Huatulco: What you make of it is what counts.

My husband and I stayed from March 26 - April 4, 2022. The resort is beautiful, and the staff is extremely helpful and extremely friendly. The views were amazing all day long, you could not get enough of admiring how beautiful the bay was to look at. The weather was near perfect and according to the locals its like that a majority of the year. The layout of the resort is really easy to navigate around, the grounds are well kept, the main areas were very clean, the bars had decent service and  [... read more]the bartenders were always smiling. The food everywhere was fantastic, I'd be surprised to read if someone had a different opinion. Covid protocols are in place in communal areas of the hotel, main lobby, restaurants, elevators etc. I felt comfortable and safe. There were no issues when it came to cleanliness anywhere in the resort at all in fact. We met a lot of really great people from all over: Canada, USA, Columbia, and other parts of Mexico. We had a great time, we enjoyed our vacation, but we made the best of the thing in which we were not so excited about. The beach is not great for swimming, so if this is a large part of your vacations daily routine you will be disappointed. The red flag was up every day we were there, and from speaking with people who work at the resort, it stays this way a majority of the time. The undertow is quite strong, and unfortunately while we were there, a few days also had blue flags which means jellyfish. The beach area was hard to find a chair as there are not many to be had as its a rather small area, AND if you were not up before sunrise, they were all reserved with random towels. It was not until our second last day that we finally saw the staff removing these "held chairs" and giving them to people who were actually there to enjoy the beach. On a side note, if you do get a beach spot: The sand is very granulated so be prepared for really HOT sand and I mean hot. Now the pool is a whole other storey, so I will start with the things in which were positive first: the pool bar was always busy and man the staff moved so make sure you tip them well, they do an excellent job. The wait staff around the pool was fabulous, very courteous, we watched them serve not only the pool but the swim up rooms as well - fantastic job to them as they hustled, and they always remembered your face and a majority of the time what you were drinking. The entertainment staff was engaging, and they tried their best daily to get people involved, most days were a success, a few days were a little scarce for them, but job well done. Do you like to sit and lounge around the pool? Me: yes, I like to read and then dip, splash, swim, and repeat. Do you like to get up at 3 am during your vacation? Me: OH, HELL NO, however if you would like a spot to sit around the pool then this seems to be the course of action. This is really the only negative thing I can say about the resort, there is not enough seating for all their vacationers or even 25% to be more exact. We had a small confrontation with another set of vacationers, they showed up around 2pm. We had taken their chairs; we had walked around the pool several times in the span of an hour and noticed a set of chairs not being used. We asked the couple sitting beside them if anyone had been there yet that day? The reply was, no, they had been there since 7:30 am and no one had come to those chairs. This is now 12ish. So, we approached one of the pool staff, asking if it was ok to take them, and their reply was yes. So, we sat pulled out our books and read for a while, then in pool, splash, read, repeat.... Needless to say, they came back 7 hrs after placing their towels on the chairs and wanted us to move. I offered one of the two chairs to make it fair, but she was not happy about my compromise. In the end I did not move, and she left saying nasty things aloud. So, please do not be a Karen to others that may want to use the pool while you are not, it makes everyone enjoy their vacations as much as the other. Overall, we had a good vacation, we made the best of the pool situation and either just dropped our bags on the grass or waiting for someone to leave/give up their chairs , not ideal while paying a bit more for this resort. We would likely not go back to this resort as it was just not for us (but if we did we would book a swim out suite, as your always guaranteed a chair), however we will go back and try another location in this area of Mexico.

Secrets Huatulco: Good, with room for improvements

We just returned from a week at Secrets. Had visited 9 years ago. Seems like they haven’t put any money into upkeep. Furniture cushions in common areas need a refresh; room deck furniture was worn; window treatments in room were ripped and mended instead of replacing; pool tiles missing. Otherwise, the room/restaurants/common areas were clean. Staff was always very friendly and attentive. All staff adhered to mask protocols but not all guests did. Overall the food was great with the e [... read more]xception of our steak meals at Castaway restaurant which we found to be inedible. We were again very disappointed that we had to reserve our lounge chairs and sun protection early every morning. If you weren’t out before 6 a.m. you had limited options to choose from. This puts unnecessary stress on you when you’re there to relax, worry free. This isn’t the resorts fault, but if you’re looking for a nice sandy beach, you won’t find it here. The water was always too rough to swim comfortably. I would recommend this hotel to a friend, with consideration to comments above.

Secrets Huatulco: Beautiful private resort.

We definitely enjoyed our trip to Secrets. Beautiful locations. Great service and activities. Booked a half day on the ocean with Captain Valentino. Discovering the multiple bays, whales, sailfish and sea turtles. We definitely would go back.

Secrets Huatulco: Great resort

The resort, rooms and dining were all very clean. The beach was nice although a bit rough. Scenery was lovely and the food was very good. The staff were always helpful and friendly. Loved how our rooms were cleaned and decorated with flowers most days.

Secrets Huatulco: High and lows

So much of this resort was amazing. The few things that were disappointing however really stood out. All inclusive doesn’t include bags. Add $120 per person Food was excellent except for Food allergies were not taken care of. My husband had bathroom issues daily even though we reminded them daily. Glassware was awful, often giving me red wine in a beer or champagne glass. Pool glassware was very old. When pool bar was busy cleaning of glassware was scary to watch. Finally preferred [... read more] was not worth it. Top shelf bar was only in one area and anyone could get it. Covid tests were free but now not needed.

Secrets St. Martin: A Sub-Par Resort At A Premium Price

This resort is badly in need up very significant upgrades. At best it’s a 3 out of 5. The rooms have been renovated and are nicely appointed, but the test of the resort is no better than a run-of-the-mill resort, but it comes with a premium price tag. There are NO beach facilities of any kind other than sand, chairs, broken umbrellas, and foul smells. On a good day a waiter might come buy once. The pool area activities are sadly lacking. The pool is in need of an overhaul. None of the wate [... read more]rfalls were in working order. The swim up bar looks to be 25 years old. The hot tub was closed. The activities desk was useless. There is water available in the gym, but it comprises bottled water that is warmer than room temperature. No tv’s or even music in the gym. On more than one occasion the resort ran out of beach towels by 10:30 am. Stray dogs are allowed to roam the premises. One buffet restaurant for evening dinner is hardly what I would expect from a resort having the reputation of a Secrets. Resort washrooms were in some cases so badly in need of repair that guests were required to return to their rooms. The price for 1 week at this resort is not significantly less than the cost of a week at a Sandals resort, however, there is simply no comparison. Sandals resorts are far superior in each and every way. I won’t be making the same mistake again and will not be going back to a Secrets resort. I regret my choice in this instance.

Secrets Papagayo Resort: Lovely getaway

Very nice resort with great staff and lovely landscaping. Really liked the two different areas. One was very quiet and relaxing. The main area was busy and very active. Enjoyed spending time in both parts of the resort.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Going Back!

Huge resort with a cozy intimate feel due to the lush grounds intricate design (and wildlife) that transform it. The people/staff are amazing and deserve tremendous credit. Little things like not having to make reservations for restaurants, or having to come down early morning to (reserve) get a great spot on the beach were a wonderful surprise to us. The evening entertainment was next level. (imagine an evening of art and entertainment taking place throughout the resort: dancers, singers, music [... read more]ians, food, stilt walkers, artists all dressed in elaborate costume). The food was for the most part was excellent with the occasional miss, but as good as any this 67 year old body has experienced at multiple resorts. I have been on better beaches (mostly in the Dominican) but this one was lovely and very well maintained. Security was excellent. The only surprise was the gentleman next door that returned to his room from the late night disco at 3am that had to repeatedly practice the F-Bomb and occasionally mentioned Putin. The most significant disadvantage to the resort, and it has nothing to do with the resort, is its distance from the airport. Its an hour at least depending on number of drop offs. Make sure your transportation is organized. Ours through Air Canada vacations was not.

Secrets Cap Cana: Excellent experience

Best hospitality I have experienced in the Caribbean. Beautiful resort. Highly recommend. Enjoyed that it was close to the airport, transfers were quick and efficient. Rooms were nice, 24 hour room service was amazing!

Secrets St James: Amazing!

We travel a lot and this is one of our favourites hotels by far! Very conscious of Cleanliness and covid protocols. Service was THE BEST that we have ever had at any resort. Food was amazing and the property itself was well kept and beautiful.

Secrets Huatulco: Better than the First

First time coming travelling since COVID. Safety protocols were followed well, staff following was excellent. It wasn't to capacity which was great for not fighting for a place to sit, previous visit 2 years ago 7am was too late to find a chair even though 10am to noon is usually when someone shows up. Service overall was excellent, staff was friendly as usual, room cleaning was better than expected. Food was good to excellent, depending on the restaurant. Secrets Playa Mujeres: Beautiful Resort - amazing staff!!

Beautiful resort. Extremely well maintained and the landscaping is lush and gorgeous. The staff everywhere were so amazing- friendly and helpful and couldn’t be more accommodating and all of them made our trip even better. Shout out to Lydia and Nataly at Oceans, Mario at El Patio , Susie at the pool and Martha our Concierge. All the ladies in the coffee shop were top-shelf. Jesus of the entertainment staff was energetic and lovely. But all the staff everywhere were amazing and are def [... read more]initely the strength of the entire resort. Restaurants were excellent- lots of choices and the quality was very good and delicious. We went to all except Bordeaux as the menu choices didn’t appeal to us however others said they loved it. We also went to the Brazilian next door at Dreams which we thought was just ok, and the Mediterranean at Dreams which was excellent. Mexican Night food was amazing and the entertainment spectacular- we were able to go twice as we were there ten days and we were so happy we did. The cocktails in general were good and generous but extremely sweet. They don’t use real fruit juice which would have made the drinks amazing We were Preferred Club which was worth the money for us - we did Preferred club breakfast at Oceania half of our mornings which was also excellent with the most beautiful view. And checkin and checkout was fast and effortless. Our room was sparkling clean every day and turn-down service was excellent. Plenty of towels and toiletries daily. The beach is pristine with the soft white sand and gorgeous water entry. Several of the restaurants and the gym and lobby are located in a different area of the resort but they have several golf carts running back and forth constantly so waits are minimal - but it’s a 5 minute walk which is a perfect opportunity to stretch your legs between meals and cocktails. We found the hot tubs in the pool area sometimes got very busy / crowded and loud which took away from our peaceful times - however there are others locations away from them , including the beach. We would go again and would recommend it to our friends and family.

Secrets St. Martin: Just what we needed

Clean secluded resort, just opened recently so still has some bugs to deal with but overall a good relaxing vacation. With everything Covid we wanted something quiet and secluded, hotel was just over half filled so not a typical all-inclusive in the sense they only had two restaurants open a night (food was very good) The activity director had a challenge to get things going by the pool and the nighttime activities were very limited but the entertainment in the lobby bar was a different musicia [... read more]n every night. It was nice to not have to fight for a lounge chair either by the ocean or by the pool. They definitely had issues with staff being ill, and the manager was constantly walking around day and night making sure you were taken care of and greeting the guests. St. Martin is a beautiful island with amazing beaches, we will definitely be going back once the world gets back to normal.

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort: Despite some awesome staff & scenery I’ll never go again.

The Preferred Room “looked great” the house keeping staff didn’t clean our room one out of the three days we stayed despite us asking them twice. My gold chain went missing at the spa, I was charged for a dinner they couldn’t accommodate, the pool was not heated and the food was sub par for a 5 star resort. I will not go back to this resort even if it’s half the price.
