Fantastic resort

Excellent in all aspects. Clean, friendly service, very nice pool, nice mountain with view of the area. I would return certainly to this resort. Many of the staff speak French in addition to English (Spanish too of course). Nice and relaxing atmosphere.

Memories Jibocoa

Losing our paradise in Cuba early report: I and my dad have been at Jibacoa Memories since Feb 6th and are witnessing first hand the evolution of the new team. For context we never complains and reports the staff are still wonderful. As of this week the new manager, Julie is on-site. No last name offered. She spent 10 years at Memories Havana. Very puzzling to be told the first few weeks that she was waiting for a Cuban visa. A cold buffet was offered, cold cuts, cheese and olives. The pork was so tuff that my Dad choked and the meal was left on the table. Do not forget we usually go to this resort for 4 to 5 weeks a year ( we are talking almost a ($10,000) get away every year. Even off season with my wife would attend the resort in June and July at premium pricing of over ($3,500). So we know the service the staff and the food. The wine was not palatable. The wine was returned and no substitute was offered. By the way, a memories theme song is sung by the managers. It appears that most of the food being brought in is frozen. Not sure where this is an improvement from past fare. The old staff is bring assigned to new duties. Why fix what was not broken and overlook the obvious?. Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.I asked me to post this immediately this evening of the 4th of March on facebook to maybe wake up management I spoke to Julie the new manager a Canadian next day, she offered no excuse except it was all contract issues. Memories can not copy Super club services. Julie stated she has been in Cuba 10 years and never had no complaint's, we were offered a lobster diner for our issues. Through sources I was notified that the lobster had in deed arrived but it was being kept for special guest only. Well when you are paying premium pricing for a resort everybody should be a special guest. The staff never complained and continued to do what they could for us with what they had at hand. Julie brought in a specialist to show staff how to set a table correctly, staff does not need to know how to set a table they know how. But the food that goes into the plates is more important then the placing of utensils. With the crashing loonie the exchange rate is becoming prohibitive to most. The rooms are now infested with bugs and I have the wealth's all over my body to prove it. This is an early wake up call to the new Memories folks. We go to Jibacoa to be at home with our friends. Not for a cold buffet, bad wine and a sing song,.If we want Disney Land we would go to Disney land. The last morning we were served cold poached eggs, and frozen MacDonald's special potatoes. What next?? We are watching. My warmest regards to our Cuban friends, they deserve so much better. New Managers wake up now!! Are we returning I doubt it very much. I love our Cuban friends but This Canadian company have turned this paradise into a $500 dollar a week resort with cheap liquor and nothing you can call food. The good food is only for special guest?? MY QUESTIONS IS WHO IS A SPECIAL GUEST. This will be a great resort for the 18 to 30 year olds that want to drink and not eat. To blame contracts and the change over of managers in today's age is not only unprofessional but down right lazy. Another troubling issue is that I understand enough Spanish to understand that most employees will be replaced by temp workers from all over the world, AKA cheap labour. Memories is buying up most of the island resorts waiting for the American influx, hate to tell you but Americans will never put up with this type of food or service. I hesitated to post this because of our wonderful family in Cuba but someone has to speak up for them.

Friendly resort

The grounds and public areas were well maintained. The rooms were nice ( overlooked the pool and the entertainment area ) and we understand that they are in the process of updating the rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good but not the selection you find in Mexico and Dominican Republic. The beach was nice for swimming and strolling. Beautiful Resort

Lovely surroundings !! The ocean view was spectacular. The hospitality amazing! Shows at this resort amazing. Buffet had a wide assortment of food to chose from. The pool and hot tub could have been warmer.

A place to come home to!

This was our third visit to the resort over 10 years and it truly felt like coming home to visit. The staff were pleasant, warm and made us feel welcome. The rooms are being upgraded which was needed and with new owners (Blue Diamond resorts) taking over I am sure other changes will occur. Much evaluation was witnessed of the facilities and staff. Service was pleasant in the restaurants and bars. Food selection was good, however freshness & variety of vegetables was an issue at times. We only tr [... read more]ied one a la carte Taberna as was difficult to book in as needed to book several days ahead. Services such as money exchange, towel exchange, gift shops, snack deli, housekeeping, repair services were all very good. The resort attracts an older crowd so I am hoping they may add some services & offer more excursions to attract more 40-60s crowd. A spa is in the works which I look forward to and a massage hut on the beach was also a welcome addition. This service could use an additional staff member to take bookings and payment or advertise/make bookings in the lobby where you have to pay for the service. Snorkeling is still top quality when weather permits and the beach has suffered some this winter with northern storms. Plenty of chairs at pool and beach but palapas at beach look a little weather beaten. The pool is really cool in winter but great on a hot day. All together a pleasant repeat holiday and look forward to seeing what will become of this adults only Cuban treasure in Jibacoa. We met several folks on there 10th visit! We will go again for sure.

Cuba bike trip

Great hotel as a base for a one week cycling trip. Good smooth roads for cycling with friendly Cuban bike guides available. Beautiful beach and large pool for lounging and swimming. Relaxing resort atmosphere.

A little bit of everything!

This was a wonderful resort to stay at! We liked that it was smaller; made it feel more homey. Not very far from Havana, so you could easily take a cab there for the day. The beach was wonderful if you enjoy snorkeling! Lots of fish and beautiful coral. (but careful of stinging jelly fish) You can also hike up to the top of the big hill and get an amazing view of the resort as well as the surrounding area. Lovely resort

This was our third time at this resort. We find the staff to be very friendly and helpful and the grounds and rooms are exceptionally well kept . We especially like the fact that it is a fairly small, adult only resort.

Disappointed this trip

Grounds, room location great. Most staff fantastic and remember you from previous visits. Sun Wing rep. (Marija?) at hotel was fantastic. Best we have ever had. Buffet was not great. Food over cooked and often cold. Trays constantly empty and often ran out of dishes. Although dinner was 6:30 to 9:30 they did not seem to clear and reset tables much after 8. When we went for dinner first night a little after 9 there was nothing much left........front desk did not advise us of deli and we went to  [... read more]bed hungry. Previous visits buffet had been fantastic. Staff blaming on ownership changeover however we paid full price and did not expect this downturn in food quality

Nice Resort

This place has a great lay-out for a resort , nice pool and the beach has great snorkeling . The staff are very friendly ,but , like usual the food was poor , it was tuff to find something that worked for me.

Excellent resort

this is our fourth time at breezes, and are planning to go again in the next 12 months. the servise is good the people are friendly the hotel rooms are clean,the food is good with a great deal of variety. I would recommend this property ,as we have been in cuba 16 times at different locations and is by far the best.

Wonderful vacation

No disappointments at this resort. We enjoyed the attention of a smaller resort. Food exceeded our expectations. The grounds very well kept, the rooms always clean, the staff very friendly. We will definitely go back to this resort.

Quiet Relaxing Resort

My boyfriend and I stayed from Jan 9-16 2015. We had a great time! The resort is small and fairly quiet. The food was good(by Cuban standards). The staff are all wonderful. Very clean hotel. Would return for sure!

Beautiful Resort

Well kept resort with beautiful grounds, clean rooms and adequate food varieties. Piano bar is great for evening entertainment. Close to Havana which is a must see. Third time back and would go again.

Good experience overall

Let's start with the positives. The Staff at Breezes Jibacoa are excellent. Particularly Naidy at the front desk. The food and entertainment were excellent and the Rexort has many amenities. The guide on the trip to Havana was very informative. The resort has a great reef accessible right from the Beach. I saw some tropical fish I had not seen before. This was the primary reason for me coming. On the downside, the Beach was often closed in the afternoon (3 days out of 7) due to Jellyfish. The B [... read more]each itself is not great for swimming as it is more rocky than Sandy. Also. The Cuban electrical system is 220 and the converter box in the room didn't work well. I ruined a clock and stopped plugging or recharging anything. The Ocean View rooms are obstructed by trees and Cabanas. Not a big deal The biggest pblm by far is Sunwing. The trip from Vancouver gets in to Cuba at 3.45 am. You get to the resort about 5;30 am. Their. Checkin only begins 4 hrs from Deoarture. Don't bother with the automated machines. None of us got it to read our passports and it doesn't print baggage tags so all you do is lose your place in line. I spent an hour. The transfer Bach as at 1:15am for a 3:45 flight. Or should have been. The Bus showed up on time and the Driver indicated I wasn't on his list. I asked him to check this but he indicated he had to get going. The front desk called Sunwing and they said to wait until 2 am and see if anybody shows up. They had no idea. The front desk called at 2 and they detoured a Bus at 2:20. I would not have made this flight if the 3:45 flight hadn't left until 5 am. The Boarding process involved the Agent calling out "Ok Vancouver, let's go" Cuba and Jibacoa was fun, but Sunwing is not a very good Operator. Look for other options

Great Service - a nice place to relax

The staff here are outstanding. Servers, housekeeping, bartenders, entertainers: all very attentive and positive. The resort is very well-kept, clean and quiet. The beach, pool and rooms are all well maintained. The buffet is better than I expected from what I had been led to expect for Cuba. Less than an hour from Veradero or Havana (on a good road) and also far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. Private taxis available for day-trips. (I recommend Anna and her '55 Pontiac). Corral and snorkeling are right off the beach; however, the corral has suffered significant damage in recent years (apparently an oil spill). There are many fish, but the reef is slow to recover its vibrant colors and corral. This is not a "Party" resort. The average patron is probably ~55 yrs old.

Resort is average

I stayed at VILLA JIBACOA. There was a tropical storm for 3 days and one night my shower stall filled up with sewage. I stayed with a friend one night and the next day was moved to a new room. On the whole it wasn't a bad trip but quite the experience.

Fantastic resort once again!

This resort is perfect if you just want to get away from everything and relax. This is my 4th time here and I would definitely go back again. The staff are one of the highlights. They greet you like a long lost relative they haven't seen for a year. The grounds are always kept immaculate as are the rooms. The food is above par for Cuba, lots of choice. Not a lot of night life and its an older crowd but still lots to do. Great Vacation

Our group enjoyed the friendly, attentive staff, the well manicured grounds, the well maintained pool and the experience of being pampered. The daily activities were a lot of fun and the evening shows were certainly entertaining.

Great Time!!

My husband and I stayed at the Breezes Jibacoa Oct 2014. Had a great time. Quaint resort. Everything was very good. We're not a picky eaters so we were fine. Some people thought it could be better. Staff were wonderful and friendly. Only 1 hour from Havana. Beach was a little rocky, but we were aware of that before we left. Just a note. We voted our room the worst on the resort.
