Beautiful Resort

Excellent and well maintained resort. The area I was in had it's own separate swimming pools. They have an Adult / VIP section with Canopied Beds and mattresses on the beach. Daytime activities were great. Volleyball, tennis, etc. Several restaurants including Lobster, Japanese, Mediterranean and Brazilian which have really good food. And of course a general buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nightly entertainment at a theatre. It's amateur theatre at best but it is still really good and wo [... read more]rth watching. Night time beach parties/raves are not for me but they have several smaller bars where you can relax and enjoy a drink / conversation. Lots of local shopping on site with local vendors. Also a small little town just a short walk off site. Small gym on site as well. Overall an excellent place with a mix of activities for young and old. Highly recommend.

Exceeded our expectations !!

A large group (14+) of us traveled to Punta Cana Feb 6th to 13th and totally enjoyed the Be Live Resort. Grounds were great, food excellent, service very good, staff friendly, enjoyed the VIP options.

Amazing resort!

The resort was beautiful, rooms had lots of storage and where clean and comfortable. Enjoyed all the buffets and the a la carte restaurants where excellent,(we where reserving for 14 people and never had any problems getting reservations) All the staff where friendly and helpful especially our favourites, Mr Minime, Lucia, Chocolate, and Hector at the pool bar..I would highly recommend this resort for a fun filled holiday..WE LOVED IT!

Pleasantly Surprised

My Tripadvisor review of Be Live Punta Cana: I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with this resort due to the many negative reviews I read prior to visiting. I was actually a little afraid at what I would find. I decided to go with a good outlook and see what happened. The following is an honest review, I have been to many all-inclusives in the Caribbean. We traveled here with another couple. Check-In : we arrived at the Be Live resort at approximately 12 noon and we were given bracelet [... read more]s and asked to go have lunch and then come back and we would be assigned our rooms. We went to lunch and then back to the check in at 1300 hrs. We were immediately given our rooms, no hassle, no fuss. The lovely people at check in were very polite and fast. In the brochure it states you don't get to check in until 3 pm so we were very happy to get ours early. Rooms: we were assigned to building 16 and our friends to building 15, these are apparently the newest buildings in the resort and we loved our rooms. We were in Jr Suites. The shower was huge and the room updated and clean. We had a problem with our AC on the forth night but they were there within 5 minutes of our reporting this and fixed it asap. I read in some other reviews that there were no face clothes and not enough toilet paper. We did not find this to be a problem at all. The room came equipped with a speaker dock for your phone so you could play your own music. This may be a mistake on the resorts side as I think many people took this as a challenge to see who could play theirs the loudest. I found it a bit noisy due to this and people slamming their doors at all hours of the night. Pools: the 4 quiet pools down by our building were nice and clean and there was a pool bar there as well. I really enjoyed these pools. The big main party pool was a bit cloudy but I think having foam parties there causes this. The bottom of the pool needs repainted as well. I did go in for the foam party which was fun. Beach: the beach was lovely and it was clean. They work very hard at keeping the seaweed cleaned up as well as the straws, cups and cig buts from resort goers. The beach is in a bit of a cove area so the water sometimes has seaweed in it as it can collect there making the water a bit murky. This really wasn't a big deal for us but you won't find it to be crystal clear as in other areas. We still very much enjoyed the ocean. Entertainment crew: the guys and girls on the beach and by the pool were excellent! They worked so hard to try and get everyone involved in the various activities they provided and they made it fun. We did not take in the evening shows so I can't comment on these. Food: out of the 4 of us, no one got sick. We did do the oral vaccine called Dukoral prior to our vacation and I would recommend it for anyone going to the Caribbean on vacation. I found the buffet to be ok. I found something to eat each time but I wasn't overly impressed with the taste and temperature of things. I found the food to be very bland. That being said, our travel companions enjoyed the food a lot more than my husband and I. We went to the Mexican and the Brazilian a la carte, they were ok. Only 4 of the seven a la cartes we actually open during our stay. Yes there are a lot of time share people there but they are polite and they take no for an answer. There are also people selling excursions and merchandise on the beach. Again, they are polite and will be ok with a polite "no thanks". Renaldo at the Dive Shop got us a great deal on a snorkelling excursion. He is a very nice and funny guy. I highly recommend him. All in all I would rate this resort as a 3.5, it would be higher if the food was more exciting and less bland. The Dominican people at this resort were lovely and helpful and polite. They work so hard and long for little wages. If you can, please tip them for their great service, I was surprised at how many people, especially the Europeans did not.

Exceeded expectations

Contrary to the many negative reviews that I read, myself and the 13 people in my group had an excellent time. We all agreed that though not "perfect" we all had no negative complaints. The staff were friendly, grounds beautiful, entertainment fun and the rooms were fine. I recommend the Side by Side catamaran and dune buggy excursion as highly enjoyable and well worth the money.

AWESOME RESORT

WE were a group of 22.....LOVED every minute. Entertainment Staff made the trip---BJUJI, MINI ME, EVELYN, LUCIA , MISTER CHOCOLATE , SPAGETTI .... :) Sunwing reps excellent , swim out in block 17....the best !!! Ocean & pools.....amazing Staff in restaurants went over and above ...lots of food options . GREAT STAY... thanks again

Awesome get-away

Amazing atmosphere, beautiful staff, amazing food selection. We are first time travelers and my husband and I were completely blown away by the entertainment provided every night. Also fun entertainment throughout the day. You didn't even have to be involved because it was just as much fun watching, many laughs. Many pools to pick from, or just a walk on the beach was beautiful. We have already decided that this would be our next vacation location because we still can't stop talking about it. Amazing vacation!

After reading all the negative reviews on trip advisor, we had some regrets after booking this resort. However, our 1 week vacation at the Be Live was amazing! The food and the service were both great. We had an older room but nothing to complain about; bed and bathroom were clean. The beach was dirty at times (ocean water that is) but we just needed to walk a bit further to have access to beautiful turquoise water. This is one of the only all-inclusive resorts that I would actually consider booking again.

You get what you pay for

Check in was slow and inefficient. Several people we talked to also had room keys missing, lock keys missing and rooms not ready at 3:30/4pm arrival times Rooms are clean but average - we were in an older building I think- building 9- furnishings outdated but remember it is a 4star not a 5 star Food average We tried the Brazilian restaurant service slow and food average: international restaurant we did not enjoy menu options or the food itself Best restaurant definitely the Japanese Buffet nothi [... read more]ng to right home about but you could find something to eat Vendors on beach constantly circling also vendors allowed on complex a few times a week- very nice but annoying Pool needs bottom painted, sides crumbling and cracked and could be cleaned more often but the pool is big and design nice Landscaping of grounds very good Common lobby average -no wow factor as in some of the 5 stars The sun and relaxation is what we came for and we got that... Just be prepared to get what you pay for ... And your trip will be fine English is a challenge for many of the staff

Great Entertainment staff!

Had an amazing time at Be Live. I specifically booked this resort because of the reviews I read about the entertainment staff, and they didn't disappoint. They all have great energy by the pool and get you up dancing at night. The pool parties were always fun, but my favourite was the foam party! Mini Me, Speedy, and super Mambo, and Mermalada were especially great on my trip. The food was okay. Typical DR food always had something to choose from. I booked a trip to Saona Island with the hotel. Highly recommend it, it includes a catamaran trip to the island, lunch and speed boat back with a stop for some shopping. There was seaweed at the hotel beach, but knew this when booking our vacation and planned to have one good beach day.. Saona island was the best place for it! I love Punta Cana and would return to this resort. Entertainment is awesome excellent

Great resort!

The resort was very nice, lots of daily activities, great nightly entertainment and friendly staff. However, when we got there, our room wasn't ready because they made a mistake and gave us a room with one bed. We had to wait about an hour. Then when we got there, they had us in the building closest to the nightly entertainment which turns into a club until 3am. We could hear everything in our room. I went back to the front desk and argued with the guy until he moved us to a better location. It  [... read more]worked out in the end but we were exhausted by the time we got settled into our room. Having said that, the only rooms available were suites which was a nice upgrade. Our maid was fantastic. The downside is the beach - it was terrible with seaweed everywhere but we didn't care because we stayed by the pool each day which was always clean and the activity staff were amazing. I would definitely go to this resort again. It had everything we were looking for.

First Time in the DR, going back soon !!!!!

The Be Live resort was over and above our expectations.... the resort was clean, the staff was extremely friendly and the food was vey good. The beach and water was pristine and if you like long walks on the beach, then this is the place to go.

Great Resort

We stayed at Belive Punta Cana from Dec 11-18, 6 people ranging from infant (7months) to mid 60s. There was something to do for everyone. Pool area was great and always clean, the beach was ok lots of seaweed but we always found a spot regardless of what time we went. Language is definitely a barrier. We stated in block 5 ground floor since we had a baby, nothing special was ok but it's far enough from the pool area and bar that it's quiet at night. Buffet changes things up every day but has the usual staples - pizza, pasta, hot dogs and burgers. Overall was a good trip with a good price point

Very good for the price , location and facilities

Grounds well maintained, rooms very clean, tidy, great pools, specialty restaurants great meals, buffet food could use upgrading, good quality of drinks. Beautiful sandy beach, could use more often cleaning of seaweed but still wonderful. Very friendly staff, always going out of their way to help. Good entertainment

Will not return

I'm easily impressed and this vacation did not impress us. We were quite excited about our 10 day get away until we arrived. There is certainly no wow factor upon arrival, quite scary looking actually. Inside the resort the grounds are nice and clean . We were upgraded right away to vip so we had a fabulous room with an ocean view.the a la cartes were not as good as the buffet . The food was not as I would expect and the staff acted as though they were doing you a favor. Front deck was nice, but [... read more] got hoodwinked into taking a tour of a " vacation club " for half the day then tried to make feel guilty about not having 26 grand to fork over. Too many pushy people trying to sell you things on the resort and during excursions. It's not relaxing when you are constantly trying to push your way through vendors. Even the adult only beach had folks yelling to you for a massage , hair braids or come see my shop. We spent a lot of money to relax only to be harassed. The beach was piled high with seaweed and not cleared until we were leaving . I tried to swim in it and it was like swimming in a pot of soup, not fun . We made the best of it but will never go back. I'll stick to Cuba thanks

I would give the resort only 3 stars.

The hotel itself nice,rooms need lots of upgrades they smell. Public areas not to bad but also need to be a little better. In over all the outside was really nice and lots of space sunny,weather nice.

Awesome resort! Entertainment was amazing!

Resort needed some renovations ( walls needed to be painted, rooms needed to be renovated,etc) but the staff and entertainment was amazing! we were never bored. The beach has white sand but wasn't the nicest as it had seaweed. There were so many pools, we really loved that. We would definitely go back.

Horribly disappointing

Property photos are misleading as most of them are taken in the upgraded (Be Adult only/Premier Club/VIP) areas. Language is a huge barrier as few staff were able to speak even limited english. Room cleaning was not throughly done every day (we purposely left a bar of soap provided by the hotel on the shower floor that remained there for the duration of our stay) Horrible smell in the room, in particular the linens. frebreeze didnt even work. Food was either too saltly or tasteless even in the a [... read more] la carte restaurants. had only toast for the last 3 days of my stay. wine was at a cost in the italian restaurant. Non stop vendors on the beach. non stop selling of hotel products on the property. outside vendors on the property at night selling products.

Good resort

Overall good resort, clean rooms , good food, friendly except the check in. We got there at 2:30 pm and after waiting in line for more then an hour our rooms still were not ready. We got our rooms after 6pm. We were very happy that they cleaned the seaweeds every day.

Nice and walkable

The resort we liked, clean grounds, easy to get from one area to another, plenty of pool choices. Large clean rooms,and bathrooms, = but wish the bathrooms had a DOOR. Only problem was , all three of us got sick, had only eaten in the buffet at that point, =SO . Ruined it for me, as could not eat for three day's.
