Very good

This is an extensive resort and overall very nice and clean. My room is spacious and clean. Its beach area is good except that there are sudden drops in the seabed when going out to sea to swim. The service is good and the staff is very courteous and professional. Food is not exceptionally good because the food menu was 95% the same for the whole week. I wish there was more variety to make the stay more interesting and enjoyable. I can't say much for drinks because I do not drink alcoholic drink [... read more]s at all. Nonetheless I had a very good time in Melia Peninsula at Varadero and also our tour to Havana from the Melia Peninsula.

IT WAS A WONDERFUL RESORT.

THE ROOMS WERE CLEAN AND THE STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY. THE POOL WAS GREAT AND IT WAS JUST A SHORT WALK TO A NICE CLEAN BEACH. LOT OF FOODS TO PICK FROM AND VERY ATTENTIVE STAFF. ALSO IT WAS NOT TO FAR TO GO INTO THE CITY.

Small but friendly

Our first impression was not good. The air conditioning did not work and the so called technician said keep the door shut. Toilet handle broke next day and bug ran across floor. Went to front desk, explained and requested another room, closer to friend and 2 or 3 floor. Done, and politely!! Rest of stay went well. Travelling with 4 others. Enjoyed deejay dance in lobby. Beach very spacey and we'll kept.

We visited the Sol Melia Peninsula Varadero in March of 2014. One of the first great things about this hotel is the short distance from the airport. Then when you arrive on the grounds the gardens are beautiful. We were greeted by friendly staff and were checked into our room quickly. Our room was clean and the mini fridge was well stocked! The beach was awesome with plenty of chairs to accommodate everyone. This is where the fun is happening! Music, dancing , volleyball...it's all here. The buffets were good. We especially loved the omelet station and the pasta bar. The A la Carte restaurants were easy to book and the food tasted amazing. We would recommend the Japanese restaurant for sure. Great experience and even better food! The entertainment was good. The bar service in the front lobby area was great. The staff was all very attentive and helpful. My only recommendation is that you exchange your money at the airport or in town at the bank. The line up to exchange your money was sometimes long and the exchange was a bit higher. What an awesome resort... can't wait to come back to Cuba!!

Very good

Very good .. The food really needs to be worked on though ..... Beach is amazing but there were no beach partys or beach bbq .. Bedrooms are a bit old for 4-5* hotel .. All it needs is paint n new bathroom :)

Wouldn't return

We stayed at the melia peninsula Feb'14 but we would not return. Don't get a room on the ground floor unless you are ok with the smell of mold. The place was out dated and the food was less then satisfying . Staff was great and the beach was awesome. They did send us to the melia marina for the last 2 nights which was fantastic. Wonderful resort!

The grounds are well kept, the staff are friendly and polite. The rooms are a good size and the beach was great. I would recommend this resort.. The food was not the best but we always managed to find something to eat.

Lovely reasort

Melia Peninsula Varadero is a great resort to spent a 2-week vacation. Location is great, the layout of the resort is very friendly and the food amazing. The service and entertainment shows were the things that I really liked the most.

Surpassed expectations of well travelled couple

Well taken care of from arrival to departure, by friendly, attentive staff. Beautifully kept rooms, pool and grounds. Loved the beach and drinks. Enjoyed professional caliber entertainment and spirited animation. First class food. Definitely ready to return.

A great time

the hotel was great .amazing big and not crazy busy for most of the trip .weather was great beach was great .and the service amazing. we were tended to every 10 minutes max.the rooms were clean and see inviting . my favorite part was free coconuts in the morning .

Fantastic Experience!

The grounds of the resort were immaculate! Staff took much pride in keeping this slice of paradise beautiful. The staff were attentive and service was always with a smile. We took the tour to Havana and experienced the Tropicana....I recommend this tour if you like to immerse yourself in the culture and history of places travelled. One day wasn't enough. Best place to eat in Cuba, very friendly staff

The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are clean and good a la carte restaurant quiet at night but lots of entertainment at night if you want to stay up. Beach is beautiful and clean. I will go back for sure

Hidden Gem in Cuba!

When trying to find a resort in Cuba, my travel advisor at Tripcentral recommended we stay at the Melia Peninsula Veradero. We were thinking of returning to another resort we had stayed because the food was great but we were concerned about staying two weeks and being bored at that place. When our advisor said the food was good, rooms very large, and entertainment fantastic, she was not lying. There was a great variety of food for every tastes as well as several a la carte restaurants. The rest [... read more]aurants were clean and the staff very pleasant. The main buffet was sometimes lined up around 8 or 8:30 pm but we started to eat at our normal time of 7 pm and there was no problem getting in . The a la carte restaurants were easy to reserve with little line up to reserve, provided you went to the office about 10:30 or 11 am when people were already at the beach. We highly recommend the Japanese restaurant where they prepare the food right in front of you. The show was as good as the food and that was excellent. Our room was extremely large and nice. We had a walk-in closet which kept the messy suitcases our of sight! The room also had a four piece bath - the shower was freestanding and walk in. Also for the seniors, the toilet was a higher than normal height. We never saw one bug anywhere. Also, the balcony was extremely large. As for the entertainment, it was second to none. We have been to many all inclusive resorts and they pale in comparison. The hotel brought in professional entertainment in the lobby every evening. They usually played until about 10 pm. Then the stage show began for an hour and after, for the young or young at heart crowd, the disco started. We saw shows that we would pay a fortune for at home. We danced many evenings in the lobby of the hotel. Over the two weeks, most of the acts were not repeted except the better ones. The beaches were gorgeous and the pool was great although a bit cool some days. We have been to another Melia hotel in Cuba before, but this one is a cut above. Congratulations to the Manager and his staff. We look forward to returning.

Great family resort

Great for families - good size kids pool, activities, and (the kids favorite) a video arcade room with some playstations. Rooms are OK, ours was showing some age. Restaurants and buffet are very good by Cuban standards.

Great vacation

the resort was very nice,beautiful beach.the staff very very good, the room with air transat where very close to the beach.nothing bad to say.for the money it a very good resort to go .i am planing to go back in december

Very nice resort

Large resort at the end of peninsula of Varadero. Lovely garden layouts. Three restaurants to choose from with reservation , nicely decorated, great service and good food. Clean rooms and a really nice pool.

So much fun

The staff are amazingly pleasant and helpful. The accommodations were adequate. The pool is great. The beach is beautiful and clean.The food is tolerable. Breakfast was really good. I can order eggs is Spanish now

Nice resort for families

This resort has nice facilities for the kids( waterslides, pirate boat, snack bar...) Our daughter and her 2 kids really enjoyed it. Food was great at both buffet restaurants and the 2 a la carte (Japanese and Italian) that we visited. Beach was excellent with lots of chairs and umbrellas and so were the grounds and room facilities.The shows for the kids and adults afterwards were also excellent. The safe in the rooms were not properly anchored and could be simply lifted off the wall. Also the b [... read more]anking facility was awful with a very small window with only one attendant who would not give you smaller bills than 10 pesos. The main desk would not give you change either. We had to deal with resort personnel one on one to get change.

Great Stay!

We stayed at this resort March Break Break 2013. This was our first trip to Cuba and we were pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. The rooms were clean and spacious but in need of some updating and are in the process of doing so as we were told. Although people complain about the food in Cuba, we food everything to be decent. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the selection of fresh fruit. The beach was absolutely beautiful... It was a little windy the week we were th [... read more]ere but several days we got to take advantage of the on site water sports. The shows at night we found to be not quite what they should be, but there was good music and entertainment in the main lobby area that made up for it. Overall I would recommend this resort to anyone and would go back.
