Top of the line

Every thing spot on. Meets all standards. A very relaxing environment. This resort is very well maintained. The staff are friendly and attentive. The view from the pool area is spectacular. The pool water is warm and the spotlessly clean pool is very inviting. The grounds are well looked after. The rooms are well appointed and very clean. I will stay at this resort again in the future.

Stayed for two weeks and had nothing but a good experience. Staff is very attentive and the facilities are very good-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Wonderful Vacation

This was my first visit to this resort. I actually did not want to go back to Cuba but Theresa and Mark had been there 2 years ago and they liked it. I was very happy with the huge Jr suites and the beds were amazing, and great pillows. We tried every a la carte, and I actually having lobster trail twice. The staff was very friendly and the gardeners were out every morning cleaning the property. The only complaint (s). 1. There is no Free Wifi at all on the property. 2. The bathrobes that are  [... read more]supplied are not “ one size fits all “. 3. The milk in Cuba ruins the coffee, so powered coffee cream like “ Coffeemate “ should be supplied.

Not a 5 star

Hotel was basic for a Paradisus 5 star resort - I've stayed in 4 and 4.5 star in Cuba and very comparable to this one. Resort needs lots of TLC, pool was in bad shape needs much work. Staff were pleasant, food was ok, buffet pretty much same everyday. Would not return for the price.

Love this resort

Very nice resort. Food was great. Second visit and we enjoyed it as much as we did the first time. Updated shower in our room which was good. Would be nice to have free Wi-Fi in the lobby. Will be returning.

Peace of Paridise

Loved this resort everyone was very friendly and helpful. Food was good, beach and pool area was clean. Wasn’t crazy about all the crabs everywhere and leaving the holiguin airport was a disaster. I would definitely return to this resort and would recommend it.

Amazing Resort

Thus resort surpassed our expectations. The grounds are beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly. The food is good, the drinks are great. Our room on the royal service side was perfect. Loved the outdoor shower.

Great resort

Beautiful grounds, excellent beach, great service, very good food, great ala carte restaurants, grteat entertainment. I requested a foamie for the mattress and received a 3" egg carton foamie rioght away. :) My only complaint.... I noticed at the buffet the mesh type placemats and tables were never washed after customers. The crumbs were brushed away with the used dinner napkins and then the clean cutlery was set on the dirty placemat. Clean and friendly

We have been travelling for 16 years every April and we finally found a resort that we loved and we were extremely comfortable in. The beach was amazingly beautiful and clean. the whole resort was supper clean, rooms and all. the staff was amazingly friendly they went out of their way to please the guesses. finally no vendors begging on the beach. the beach was a perfect walking distance and secluded. we loved it. keep up the good work. The older crowds respect others more as appose to younger crowds. That made a world of difference to us. thank u

More of the typical super R & R

This was our fourth visit to the Paradisus Rio de Oro and, as was the case in the three previous journeys a most memorable experience! The accommodations, food and remarkable staff are second to none. My wife and I are already looking forward to a return trip next year.

Good

Very pretty resort but also very old they did not have any champagne until our last day the spa should have registered masseuse i’ve been to Varadero I believe Varadero is a nicer location closer to Havana and more things to see and do

Beautiful Resort

We have been to Paradisus at least 6 times, and this last visit was a little disappointing. Our expectations are high as we have returned many times. This vacation was a bit of a let down. The Hotel has changed quite a bit. They are moving staff around so much and seem to have less staff than in the past. For example: We were there for 7 days and we only had our room cleaned 3 times. By the time we were coming in to clean up after the day for dinner we would have a knock on the door afte [... read more]r 5:00 o'clock for the maid to clean the room. Which was at that point too late to have done. As well, the menu's have changed in some of restaurants which was quite disappointing and not for the better. The staff that have worked at this resort for many years are still Very friendly and courteous, however, some of the newer and younger staff not so much. Each year we go to Paradisus we ask for the same room or at least in the same area, this year we did not get the same area and got something somewhat farther away. When I asked to be moved to our area they were not willing to do so. This is a lovely resort, the grounds, the landscaping, the beach and the pool. However, after this last visit we may have to consider visiting a different resort.

The resort does not live up to a 5 star rating

Excellent food, service but the resort is aging and needs and update and maintenance overhaul to rate equally with other 5 star resorts we have stayed at in Cuba. However the pool, and beach were excellent as well as the meals in the buffet and 4 a la cartes.Although the entertainment was good, there could have been more variety.

Excellent Resort!

All areas were very clean. Large beach area. Typical early mornings in order to get a palapa. Food was very good, great service. Would definitely go back. Not a large resort and on the quite side which I was looking for......I`ll be back!!!

Amazing resort

The whole resort and service was truly a five star. The resort was clean ,the rooms was beautiful ,the food was good and loved the shows. We would go there again . Loved the beach. Met lots of friend who said they have come back many of times .The al la carte restaurants was very good .The rooms had everything you needed.

Romantic & Relaxing Week

We enjoyed a relaxing and romantic week from 19Mar2018 to 26Mar2018 at the Rio de Oro resort...and loved it! The food was better than expected. Especially considering it was the low season for produce. All the a la carte restaurants were fantastic. Our favourite spot was the beach side restaurant for lunch because of the live music group at 1:30pm. The main beach is long and wide and never felt crowded. In fact we never worried about finding a lounger or chair at any point on the resort. Our room was very clean and everything worked. Our towels and beverages were always well stocked. The best part is the staff! Everyone we met made us feel special. We will be returning!

Stayed at this resort (Mar 21-28, 2018) great resort. it started i think in 1998... but they keep it well maintained and updating is in progress.. When you go to Cuba you have to adjust your expectations... this resort was great and well worth the $$. Great service with all employees being very friendly and helpful. Before leaving Canada we were concerned with food options as we do not eat meat... no worries, great selection of fish, veg and fruits... with no after affects! Plenty of drinkin [... read more]g water in the rooms, and we used tap water to brush teeth etc... all good. plenty of hot water and no temperature changes... bathroom updated, looks great Snorkelling was great off the beach, they supply flippers. 4 specialty restaurants and were fine, but we would have also been happy just using the main buffet area as the selection was fine... Entertainment was good, they obviously focus on this piece. Plenty of pool activities each day... We used the medical services as my wife had a reaction to the sun screen. the person was very helpful and the cost was very reasonable... Beautiful resort!

This resort is one of the most naturally beautiful places I've ever seen. Everything about it is breathtaking. The beach is lovely and sea so clear, excellent for snorkeling. We loved it and hope to return next year!

Surpassed Expectations

We have been to Cuba many times. First time in Holguin. Our new favorite. The Beach was amazing. Great swimming/sandy & snorkelling very close by. Only a few resorts on the strip so it was not crowded. Lots of shade trees by the beach & by the pool. Never had to get out early to be sure we had beach chairs as they had plenty. Food was very good with lots of variety. Rooms spacious & very clean. Staff very friendly. Lots of activities close by if you desired to get off the resort. Fou [... read more]nd the SPA a bit pricey but treated myself to a massage anyway. Only neg. for some might be the 50 min bus ride from the airport to the resort.

A solid B

Overall a great stay: The beach is gorgeous (a strong riptide), the pool area is very nice and the people friendly. The rooms are rundown and the food is clearly from frozen or canned though. Solid B.
