Beautiful Resort

Overall very good. Many lawn chairs on beach were broken on the back and some of them were hard to get out of. They could use new ones. The staff and food was excellent. The food and staff were very good.

Another wonderful stay!!!

Second year in a row at this resort..... Just like the first time it was a great vacation!!! Resort is clean, food is good, drinks are great, staff is very pleasant and weather was amazing!!! Would certainly return!

Beautiful resort

Loved it! All amenities were close by. Beautiful pool, clean beach, clean grounds and the buffet menu changed every day. Getting the mini bar re-stocked daily was a problem, as was the fact that guests who had booked two rooms because they were staying as families were denied one room on arrival. They wanted to send us to another hotel as they were overbooked, just for the night. We would get a room the following day at 3:00pm. That was frustrating as we had booked three months earlier and a cou [... read more]ple that had booked just the week before had a room!! We hardly ever travel, so this was very upsetting as we were with our daughter and her family. The five of us spent the night in their room. Over all, except for that, we had a very enjoyable time, after all was sorted out and we got two rooms the next afternoon. I'd be afraid to recommend this hotel in case this happened to a friend. Our room was very clean and comfortable, and the cleaning, bar and wait staff made us very welcome.

Over-Booked Rooms!

We arrived at the hotel at 12:30am, we were the first ones off of the bus to check in and were told that one of the rooms that we had booked (we were travelling with my parents) was flooded. The main desk told us that the 5 of us would have to share a room for the night, but that they would give us the $21 lock for free for the week. Apparently the rooms were already assigned to guests and despite the fact that we booked and paid in full in October (and were the first people checking in) there [... read more] was only one room available for the 5 of us. The next morning we realized that everyone from our bus that had more than one room booked were in the same boat as we were, however none of the single rooms were effected. This was obviously a scam to receive double payment from the people on their last night and the people arriving. We ended up having both rooms upgraded to Superior, free WiFi and free lock for the week. But we wasted a day of our vacation fighting for an upgrade for the inconvenience and moving rooms. When we did finally change rooms, half of the amenities did not work. When the staff were notified of this, they explained that we were using them wrong (How do you use a shower drain wrong?!?!). Very unfortunate because the hotel was beautiful and most of the staff were wonderful, however I would NEVER go back. Not having what you paid so much money for at check in can really ruin a vacation and point out many other things that weren't up to par, that you probably wouldn't have noticed if you just had your 2 rooms to begin with.

Second stay

I've stayed at this hotel twice now. If you get it for a good price it's defiantly worth it. There are some minor things that would really make the hotel great. My favourite thing about the Be Live is the pool, there are 3 sections to it and it is always clean. The grounds are clean and full of flowers. The beach is ok, there were never enough lawn chairs but the hotel was very busy. The rooms are a little plain, fridges were stocked with soda, water and beer always. We were returning guest but [... read more] our room was not as good as our first room, our first room had a better view and no ceiling water marks. Food is good, it's repetitive but there's always something to eat, burgers, hot dogs, pasta, rice etc. One big con was the service in the buffet, we rarely got water, we always had to get up and get it out selves. The bar staff was nice especially the manager in that department he made an effort to get to know us and do all he could. The entertainment was just ok. During the day there was some games going on and beach volleyball, the basic things. Night entertainment could use a lot more energy, the shows were ok. Overall if you get Be Live for a good price it's a good stay.

Enjoyed our stay

This resort was good value. The rooms were kept clean, the grounds also immaculate. The food was very good especially the Brazilian restaurant which was the highlight of our stay! The evening entertainment was just okay. The pool was great but hard to get lounge chairs unless you come out early. We didn't use the beach much as there was a red flag the whole week (rough water and very windy). Also, it was difficult to get dry beach towels (could be because there were many rain showers and p [... read more]eople were trying to exchange their wet towels). The service was friendly but often long line ups to get drinks at the pool bar. No good coffee anywhere - warm instant in the buffet, push button machine coffee in two of the bars. I may go back, but most likely try something else next time.

Very Good

Stayed January 12 to 19, 2017. Was a very nice place to stay. Were welcome and any questions were answered promptly by the staff. Grounds and rooms very clean and neat. Food was very good with lots to choose from. Did have theme nights in main dining hall that were nice to see. The Brazilian al a cart was fantastic. The Mexican one only had one entree to choose from. Was quite windy when their so did not get to use beach. Were able to go for walk one day on beach and is very nice and  [... read more]clean at this resort. Spent most of our sun time near pool and was sheltered from winds coming off of ocean. Always chairs available. Would return again.

Great value for your money!

We had a wondeful vacation. The food was very tasty, hot, a varied selection. There were three A La Cartes and two out of three definitely worth going to. The Brazilian by far was superior - the food, the service, wait staff and manager Danny was all five star !!!! Our room and grounds were clean. Staff pleasant and helpful.

Great vacation

The food was great with a lot of variety. The hotel and grounds are kept very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach and the pool were great places to lay around and relax. I was sorry to come home.

Huge pool!

The hotel was very clean at all times! Lots of rain during the week but the grounds crew always stayed on top of it. Staff were superb ! Always friendly, joking around with you and always engaging in activities. Drinks were very strong so ask for "un poco" if you do not like to taste the alcohol. The pool was massive and had lots of sports to play which was great! The beach could have more huts to sit under but it was not a deal breaker. Maids were very good but the rooms always were a bit moist from the humidity.

Average Hotel

The hotel was of average standard. The rooms were okay. The bathroom could use updating. The water pressure was poor and so was the hot water. Rooms were not cleaned until late afternoon. It would be nice if they added a bar at the beach and if the staff was a little friendlier. Overall everything was okay, three stars.

Nice resort

Good, relatively small self contained resort; food was pretty much the same every day at the buffet. Vegetarian options (variety) were limited. They should have different cuisines. Entertainment was decent. All rooms were within easy proximity of various facilities like the pool, beach, buffet etc House keeping service was very good. Some of the reception staff were also much better than some others.

Small Resort nice place

Tips for your stay. 1, Upgrade your room if you can 2. there isn't a cafe it's a machine (not bad) 3. If you like Bailey's you have to pay for it. (or buy it at the Duty free and keep it in your room) 3. BRING YOUR OUR Advil Tylenol etc. it's sold by the pill in the Duty free store (we found it a little odd and expensive). 4. you only get one towel per day (little weird) 5. Everyone has to be present to book an a la cart restaurant (we were 10 so a little inconvenient) There isn't much of  [... read more]a language barrier with the servers (it was really hard to practice my Spanish as everyone answered me in English.) Took us four days to find a bartender that remembered us so that was grand! The bar at the pool is the best. There are plenty of chairs on the beach and by the pool. Beach volleyball fella was great! Our cleaning lady was spectacular so was the resident plumber. Over all a great spot but that being said I know we would not return

Pleasant Resort

The Be Live Collection Marien, was a very nice resort, with good bang for your buck. The room was large with everything working. Even though it has over 500 rooms, the resort is laid out in a way that it is easy to get around. My husband has a walker so we look for resorts that are not too large with everything spread over a large area. The food was very good a lot of choice, it did become repetitious, but that is the case at most resorts. The resort was not full, but the service was st [... read more]ill very good and everything done with a smile. Also it was easy to get chairs at the pool and beach because it was not full. They even had a handicapped area and access to the beach, which we found very helpful for my husband. The beach is very nice not really big, which is also better for anyone with mobility issues to get to the water. We enjoyed our stay at this resort and feel it is possible we may return.

Great stay!!

Resort had great food and pool area, close to the beach and public areas were very clean. The rooms, on the other hand, were very underwhelming. Definitely need some updating. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful except for the front desk staff.

Not a four star

The food was good, the staff was excellent, the reception, lobby and pool areas were beautiful and very clean. The resort beyond the pool area didn't seem to merit attention by the resort staff. We arrived at the tail end of a hurricane, but the walkways to the rooms weren't swept of debris even once in the week we stayed there. The beach seemed to be largely ignored, with litter and seaweed covering the beach. Inside our room, the air conditioning worked very well despite being very loud. There [... read more] was also plenty of hot water for showers. There was not however, a deadbolt or chain to be fastened for security while in the room, the towels all looked like rags with holes and frayed edges, the one soap/shampoo dispenser in the shower had a foul smelling cleanser in it. There is absolutely no barrier to sounds, from the music of the entertainment, to the voices of the other guests in the building.

Be Live Marien Puerto Plata

We just returned from a 7 night stay at the Be Live Marien in Puerto Plata. We flew with Sunwing which I cannot say enough about. The flight both ways were on time, the crew were great, they had a good selection of food and drinks. The hotel transfers were fine and our rep at the hotel was easy to locate and was available 24/7. As with any vacation we had our good experiences while some were just ok. The first room they gave us which was in building one was just not acceptable for anyone. You co [... read more]uld not open the balcony door it was so rusted out, the hinges on the tv and armoir stand were all rusty. The inside of the bathtub was all peeling and when you closed the curtains there were moth holes all through them and water was leaking in under the door as it was raining heavily when we arrived. When we went back to reception they did find us another room without any hassle and that room was good it was in building three. The pool was amazing, very big and every morning was cleaned and all the chairs lined up for the day. There were lots of chairs and palapas and we never had an issue finding one, the hotel was about 1/2 to 2/3 thirds full while we were there I would say. The beach area was ok, we stayed at Grand Paradise in January and the beach is much nicer there and the water blue. They have had a very rainy season and the rain has done a lot of damage to the beach which is not the hotels fault but they could clean it up a little better. The buffet restaurant was ok but everything tasted the same and we found a lot of things to taste sweet. But you certainly would not starve. The staff in the buffet were very friendly and quick to see to your every need. The front desk staff were very good and spoke good English in fact we never encountered a staff that wasn't friendly and any time we needed anything the hotel was very quick to accommodate. We found the A-La-Cartes ok, I loved the Meditterranean but my husband hated it, I chose all the right things on the menu I guess. The staff noticed that my husband did not like his dish and they came right over and had him chose something else. They apologized for him not liking it so even though he was not impressed with the food we could not fault the service at all. The Brazillean Restaurant looked very nice, the meat that they served was good it was the side dishes on the buffet that let them down. Not very warm and the potatoes and rice were dried out but once again the staff were great and very attentive. Tha animation team work hard. The water aerobics were fun, a few of the shows at night were good, we did not see them all and during the day they had plenty of activities if you wanted them. We only went out of the hotel once to go on the Cable Car. We did the city tour through our hotel in January so this time we just took a taxi to do the car by ourselves. We got the taxi from the lobby our driver was great, he waited for us while we went up the mountain and then brought us back. The clientele while we were there was very European, German, Polish and Russian. We made many new friends and enjoyed all the different Nationalities. Overall the hotel is ok, if you get it for the right price you will have a good time. I think if they remodel their rooms and clean up the beach this hotel would be stunning.

Great Fun!

The buildings were a bit dated, but well maintained. The pool was beautiful, but the beach was lackluster - probably due to the torrential rain. Food was decent, the meditteranean restaurant is surprisingly good. Wine at the buffet is awful, but ok in the restaurants. Animation staff are fantastic. No swim up bar. Bars close at 2 on weekends and 1 on weekdays which was weird.

Beautiful resort

My family and I have been to the bee live resort about 8 times I keep going back to the same resort because the staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and relax. I love that it's not a big resort were your half of the week trying to fine your way around, everything is at your finger tips. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There is 3 la carts and a buffet the food is very good with a selection of different foods. Beech is beautiful and you can go for long walks. Pool is always [... read more] keep clean and a fair size. My only complaint is the men that try to hook you in to the time sharing on the resort I fine them a little annoying and you almost have to be rude to them to get them to leave you alone . My family and I had a amazing week and would diffently go back again.

Clean, comfortable and relaxing

We were very happy during our recent vacation at Be Live Collection Marien. The pools are awesome, very clean and lots of loungers available. We had room 3314 (garden view). It was big, beds were very comfortable and it was very clean. Our room attendant kept everything well stocked and we wanted for nothing. Our room overlooked the pool, green space and we could see the ocean a little. It was close to the snack bar, but it wasn't too noisy at all. The food was delicious and service was excelle [... read more]nt. The buffet changed daily, there was plenty of choices. The only drawback that we had was the vendors. They are very persistent. The animation team is outstanding!! Be sure to catch the nightly shows. We will definitely go back 😊
