Overall good holiday

Just returned from a week at Akumal. Most of the staff are very good and happy to help as needed. Butler staff, especially Erik, were excellent. They were extremely helpful and made the experience a positive one. We travelled with a large group and had trouble being seated at one table. Would not ever recommend the Wedding planner at this resort. Often had to send many many emails for her to answer our questions before the wedding and once we got there she was not around to be helpful.

Great Resort

The beach was beautiful. The food was ok.. always an assortment. We were with a large group and they messed up our rooms. Overall very clean. The resort was very far from the airport. Everything that you needed was at Akumal but wish that the shuttles were more available so that you could travel between resorts quicker and easier.

Beautiful Resort

The resort is beautifully maintained, very clean, nice assortment of food, friendly staff, comfortable beds, etc. Loved the beach and all the pools and vegetation. Enjoyed 7 sunny hot relaxing days. My only complaint is that they need more umbrellas around ALL pools!

Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal

My husband and I had a great stay. Very beautiful, clean and the food was fantastic. Very good evening entertainment. My only complaint could be the long waits to get drinks but next to that everything was perfect. We would definitely go back.

Love this place!

This was our third time to Akumal, having stayed once at GBP Tulum, so 4 trips total. We really like that we know our way around, know where the best restaurants are and have our favorite spot by the pool. Everything is always well tended and clean, and all the staff are always so friendly. Because it is the "Luxury" level, you get unlimited a la carte reservations, which we always take advantage of - 7 wonderful meals! Some of the rooms are starting to show some wear, which isn't a big deal, considering how little time you spend there, but they should start some restoration work, or the "luxury" feel will start to slip. We'd love to go back!

Relaxing holiday

This hotel is very large, which I prefer. I love to visit all of the different lobbies and even sit at different pools, you never get bored with seeing the same things every day. The rooms are as mentioned in other reviews dated, but they are kept very clean. The housekeeping staff does a great job. The grounds are immaculate and walkways impeccable. The beach is nice and you can walk quite a distance down the beach. The pools were lovely, and the temperature in all the pools was perfect - not too cold as some reviews stated. There are trollies that will take you all around the resort, and the wait for the trollies is usually under 5 minutes. The employees at this resort are very friendly. All in all I had a very nice vacation at this resort and I would return.

Second time at this resort, maybe better than our first!

This is our family's second stay at this resort. We have a 9 & 11 year old. We stayed for a week this March and the same time last year. We had an amazing time last year and we can hardly believe that this time was even better. We have been to many All Inclusive resorts in Mexico, Cuba and the DR and this one is near the top for value for money. The staff is what really makes this resort special. Everyone, from the reception, servers, gardeners, housekeepers, butlers, trolly drivers, beach workers, is extremely hardworking and friendly. The beaches do get a lot of seaweed but the crew works very hard starting very early to clean it up everyday. The best stretch of beach is in front of the Akumal. The swimming area is shallow so if you like to do a lot of swimming you might stick to the pools. The resort is gorgeous and grounds are very clean and well maintained. The variety of food at the buffet is excellent, something for everyone! We tried a few restaurants and were very happy. The butler service is great to help you book restaurants, tennis, and correct problems in the room. The resort has access to the other resorts in the chain, it is fun to check out the waterpark at Coba and the restaurants at Coba and Tulum. The transportation system is great, although we love walking and enjoyed checking out the other resorts while working off our big meals! The Tulum resort was under some construction so heads-up if you venture over there. We have nothing but great things to say about our vacation here and we have fantastic memories to last a lifetime. Special thanks to Jose for his exceptional service in the buffet, Angel for his service at the Mikado, Patricia who is super friendly at the dinner buffet, Pamela at the Spa, Jairo and Anibar at Grand Tortuga, and butlers Tony and Alex. Great place!

This was our 2nd visit at this resort and all I can say is amazing. The staff are friendly, and the accommodations,food and drinks all great. The entertainment was different from our last visit which was nice. There is no question that we will be back!

Lovely resort!

We had a few hiccups but it ended being a great vacation. They sprayed our room twice for bugs and after that we didn't see anymore. Our Jacuzzi didn't work but within 5 mins the man was there to fix it. They gave us an interview and wrote down all the areas that we thought they could improve on. They really aim to please and accept any constructive criticism. Pools were clean, lots of lounge chairs, great games around the pool and good entertainers at night.

Lovely resort

The grounds, rooms and all facilities were very clean. FOod was good to excellent in all the restaurants we tried including the buffet. Had trouble at checkin and with the air conditioning in our first room. After 3 complaints we were upgraded and all was good. Staff very friendly. Size is a bit overwhelming at first for those used to smaller resorts. Far from town so unable to walk to a village and just browse.

Nice resort

We liked the resort. The food was quite good. The service staff were very polite. The downside was that there is no direct ocean access. There are retaining wall so there are a couple of small wading areas into the water but you can't go out in to the waves. The photos of the resort do not show that clearly. It appears as though there is clear access. For that reason alone, we won't go back to this resort.

Seaweed battle

Resort was good but an army of staff fought a loosing battle with seaweed every morning. Some days, the majority of the beach area were inundated by seaweed. Staff was great and food was good. Immaculate grounds

Beautiful Resort!

This resort was amazing! The grounds were gorgeous, the pools were amazing and the staff was wonderful. The food was delicious in buffet and restaurants and the entertainment was great. We stayed in the adult only building # 83 which was perfect in every way. We especially loved the Brazilian Grill at los Corales , the Mediterraneo, and the Don Pablo. I wish the water was a little deeper at the beaches but still very nice. Amazing resort!!

If you're looking for a great dining experience and lovely grounds look no further than the luxury Bahia principe akumal resort in Mexico. We stayed in the adults only building that were upgraded. The rooms were roomy with a jacuzzi tub. The little touches like pillow service and aroma therapy scents added to the details that make this resort stand out! It is a bi [... read more]t of a bus ride to the resort (1 1/2 hours) but well worth it. The only thing that I would say is that everything closes at 11:00pm. You can still get snacks at the 24 hour bar but no music. If you're looking for a relaxing vacation this is your place.

Very nice resort

very clean, staff is awesome, beach and pool awesome. The rooms were very clean. The drinks were ok, but no straws available due to the fact that this is an eco friendly resort. No elevators, which was a problem.

Beautiful

This resort is huge. The food was great. A lot of selection and many places to choose for your dining needs. We found the pool water cold, especially the infinity pool. It would be nice to have at least one heated pool for the off season vacationers. The grounds are very well kept and manicured. The room was clean, no water issues and the maid did a fantastic job in cleaning our room. We were disappointed in the night time entertainment. Although the pole dancer was amazing! Never seen anything  [... read more]like that performance before. The drinks were great and the servers always had a smile on their face. This was our 2nd time at this Resort, 1st time was 13 years ago. We couldn't believe all the fantastic changes. Keep up the good work. You may see us again in the future!

Wonderful Resort

The hotel grounds and buildings are kept extremely clean. Lots of selection for meals and service was friendly and attentive (server always seemed to know when I needed my coffee refilled) Beaches are clean and lovely. We always felt safe at the resort

Amazing resort

What a great resort very clean. Amazing and friendly staff. We Defiently will be going again with the family. The food and shows where great. Lots of things to do with the kids. Cant wait to go again in the near future.

Great food, big resort

Food at all A la Carte restaurants tried was absolutely delicious with courteous staff. Food at buffet also good. Drinks average. Infinity pool for Adults only very relaxing. Rooms clean however a bit noisy if located near the lobby. Beautiful beach

Two Bars Down

Just arrived home from one week stay at Luxury Akumal, Gran Bahia Principe Mexico. We have a group of 6 and really enjoy this resort which is why it was our 8th visit. The main reason we like the Akumal section is the beach area with beach bar...... sun, sand, beer. For some reason management decided they would close the beach bar that week (01/17/18) and therefore the beach area received minimal if any service which sucked. In addition the inland Jacuzzi pool bar (Bar Chit), which was very clos [... read more]e to our room quarters was also closed for the week. That makes Two bars down out of the 4 available for the area which really sucked. No one at the resort knew why these bars were shut down as they were open the week previous, curios indeed. On the good side I probably drank half as much as I usually do, NOT. If these bars are not to be open then it should be advertised as such which it currently is not.
