Not impressed

The grounds were nice and I feel that the staff did their best to keep it clean. However, our room smelled musty, the service was not good (very unfriendly) and the pool bathrooms were NASTY. We will not go back to this resort. In addition, my husband got a terrible case of sand-flea bites that he needed medication for. A couple that we know went the week after we got back and the same thing happened and they had similar feedback. Enjoyed every minute of it!

The Grand Bahia Principe was a fabulous resort! The grounds are spectacular and even have a Mangrove to observe. The staff work very hard to please you at all times. Our rooms were spacious, well maintained and the daily service was fantastic. The lobby areas had entertainment every night, the nightly shows very good, especially the Michael Jackson show, the Lion King and the Magic Show. The buffet was so good, I wasn't sure if I would go to the Al la cartes... but I did and they were VERY  [... read more]good, particularly the Mexican, the Steak Grill and the Asian. Spent most of the time at the pool but walked on the beach several times. Never had to wait more than a few minutes for a drink and they always tried to please. The village area was fun to visit, Casino, Karaoke and a shopping area. I would go back to this resort in a heartbeat!

Clean and great à la cartes!

The hotel was beautiful and very well kept. The food was above average and the reserved restaurants were fantastic. Excursions were really enjoyable. Would recommend more of a variety of pool activities. Too much seaweed on the beach could not swim. This time of year is bad for seaweed I guess. I came beginning of may last time and the beach was fantastic (as opposed to August where the beaches had mounds of seaweed)

Beautiful resort!

The grand lobby was impressive! The rooms were spacious nicely decorated and very clean. We were accommodated with adjoining rooms for our kids. We liked the higher floor too as the villa was right beside the pools but high enough for privacy. The room was always perfectly made when we come in to rest and get ready before dinner. The family liked to have drinks after dinner at the beautiful lobby bar while watching / dancing to the live music and activities in the courtyard. There are A LOT of activities including scuba diving lessons, water aerobics and out favourite beach volleyball at the beach. The pools are huge and swim up bar was nice. The property is enormous!! We took the shuttle to the beach which came every 5-10 minutes. It was ok because it was very hot to walk far when we were there. I probably want to have a villa closer to the beach next time. The restaurants were great. Again the buffet had a lot of selections, the Pisces restaurant had very good grilled food and the paella was delicious. We enjoyed the mikado tepanyaki table but our favourite was the Garden Grill restaurant for their ribeye steaks and tenderloin. There was a large amount of seaweed in the beaches BUT the staff did an incredible job in constantly cleaning the weeds out. We walked down the beach to other properties but we couldn’t continue far because the other properties had a lot of died up seaweed all over the sand that it hurt to walk barefoot. There was a lot of mosquitoes but the resort sprayed once in a while to control it. It was difficult to control when it rained for a couple of nights. I think it helped bring on a higher floor so there was less bugs compared to being on the ground floor. Overall it was an amazing family vacation and looking forward to go back again!

Fantastic

Excellent resort Royal Golden , Fabulous room ,Great view Ty once again!!!! The staff go out of their way to make sure your stay is the best... Also bavaro runners to Monkey land was terrific providing cold drinks ! Keep up the good work D.R!

10 out of 10. Best Resort!!

By far one of the cleanest resorts out there. It was amazing to so wake up early and so how the staff were organized and efficient to take care of all areas of the resort. The restaurant staff was amazing especially Wirkim, who always went the extra mile. Food was always fantastic with variety and presentation. I only wish I had gotten more names to include on this review. Downside factors were external seasonal such as seaweed rising on shore and mosquitos at night. The Grand Bahia Principe did [... read more] try to manage this problem to their best by providing Off spray, and grounds crew raking in the seaweed all day.

Average

Few waiters were friendly. Lots of seaweeds in the beach when we came. They use plastic cups for alcohol and yet they banned plastic straw. They pressure you to buy privileged club. Found cockroach in the room and leaking from the ceiling. Room smells like toilet bowl. Food is salty. Free coconuts!

Nice resort

Resort was clean & comfortable, the beach was full of weeds we could not swim on it , food was great and there was varaities but the service in the buffet was not good, it was veryyyyy slow stuff and the big problems that the staff dose not speak English or French

Fantastic resort!

The atmosphere was great, the food was super good with many choices. Multiple pools which is great if you want to switch things up! The facility is really big and beautiful! Would totally recommand this resort for any age:)

Amazing trip!

hotel was amazing, services were fantastic, so much to do for the kids, water park was so much fun! food was great, nobody got sick. always so much choice. restaurants were great, but my fave was the Japanese. definitely go there if you can! my only complaint, and its not even a big one, was that there was tons of seaweed! something going on in the ocean right now so unfortunate you have to deal with that in the water. besides that, the beach was beautiful anyway! will be going back for  [... read more]years to come for sure!

Great pool and kids shows but....

The resort was ok. The pools were really nice and a lot of activities for the kids in the evening. However, the rooms could be cleaner, the beach was filled with towers of seaweed (which they picked up in the middle of the day with a large loud bulldozer). we wanted to upgrade but the guest services did not speak English. The buffet was ok. Service was not that great. the best part was being away with my kids. Overall was disappointed with the resort.

Good Resort

Good resort. Rooms were spacious and well maintained. Grounds were nice and good for long walks. Food was good although drinks were limited to local spirits only. "Imported" drinks were $4 US but these were, as the staff said, "similar" to the original drinks that to my surprise were being served on bottles with original labels. Beach was the big disappointment; sand was good but the sea was full of algae, to the point it was disgusting to swim. Punta cana

The place was very good service its good the room it was clean food was very good alot of resturant .the only thing I didn't like was the beach was full of weed,but they said its seasnl so I dont no .othre then that every thing was good.and its worth of money .

Disappointing

My husband got sand flea bites all over his legs!! The place was huge, have to take a trolley everywhere!! Not always clean, toilet didn’t work in our room and had to go ask to get it fixed twice!! Room keys didn’t work had to get them reprogrammed twice!! Overall disappointing and will not go back been to much better resorts!!

Fun In The Sun ..... GOING BACK !!!!!!

We originally booked the Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana but we had friends staying at the Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro. The hotel manager was so nice and switched us over at no extra cost when we first got to the resort. The resort was fantastic, the food was great, the A La Carte x 3 was excellent (our favorite was Italian and Steak House) The room were very clean and quiet for the evening. Enjoyed the pools and also the drinks at the pool bar. We will definitely be going back next year [... read more]. Thank You TripCentral and Air Canada.

Awesome resort

Excellent vacation, beautiful resort, clean and well maintained. Only issue I had was the sand fleas on the beach and had allergic reactions to the bites but that is part of nature, I certainly did not allow it to ruin my vacation however advise folks that you need to bring Benadryl in the event of allergies and any other meds or extra suntan lotion as they are very expensive to buy here...for example two packages of halls were $28 US! Would definitely go back again

Too Big to give good service

This hotel was much bigger than I expected. It is actually 7 resorts. We paid extra for the Royal Golden but were quickly disappointed in what that meant. When we arrived they didn't have us listed and we waited 5 and a half hours to get into a room. We got an extra night dinner as a Royal Golden member but they couldn't fit us anywhere we wanted, so we settled for another 9:30 dinner at the only place available. When I mentioned that I wasn't feeling very Royal Golden, they kept telling me t [... read more]hat we would get slippers and a bath robe, a small bottle of rum and chocolates. (and that we are closer to the Beach) No rooms face the ocean. We actually got to look at the top of the workers shed all week that had garbage on the roof. There was a small bottle of rum but no chocolates (whatever). The last day they sent a fruit basket to our room in the evening (to make up for the chocolates?) which was nice except we had to check out at 8 am the next morning, so it wasn't even touched. The staff didn't speak English and were not too helpful...I heard "That's not possible" a few times my first day. Good luck getting thru to the front desk or concierge. On a positive, the food was good, the beach was beautiful, once you got passed the hundreds of chairs lined up. We made the best of it, but I will never return.

Awesome once again

This was my 4th time to this resort "Punta Cana Royal Gold" and was awesome as usual. My family including my 2 children enjoyed the most. The food at main lobby has lots of options with salads and fruits. The swimming at the beach and pool under hot sun is what you dream about. The thing I didn't like was the flies, so make sure bring a spray can with you.

This resort was amazing it was huge service was great ppl We’re excellent good was fair beatiful place to spend a vacation, it was 5 resorts all in one beaches were beautiful great hospitality ppl were friendly

Beauty in Punta Cana

Our seven days were simply perfect. From long walks on the gorgeous beach to perfect days at the pool. Amazing staff and friendly service everyday. Would come back in a heartbeat. Next time will be at the Ambar for adults only!!!
