Another Amazing Week at Ocean Blue and Sand Resort

We have just returned from our 11th visit to OB&S. Our trip was booked three days before take-off by the very efficient and friendly Tracy at the Trip Central Dundas office. Everything went perfectly with our Air Transat flight out of Hamilton and we arrived 30 minutes early going both ways. Arriving at the Ocean Blue resort we were greeted with hugs and kisses from the many staff members who remember us from year to year. Our butler Alfredo made reservations for the Japanese restaurant on the first night and it was excellent as always. Reservations were not needed at the other restaurants because we prefer to eat between 6:00-6:30 and there were never any line-ups at that time. Food was always excellent and beautifully presented. We only used the buffets for breakfast and lunch and it was also very good with a large selection to choose from. We participated in many of the activities at the pool during the day. In the evening we played bingo in the lobby, went to the shows in the theatre and danced to the live music later on. The two enormous pools are fabulous and we were happy to see that work is being done to stop the beach erosion.

Great resort

Grounds are beautiful. Many choices for dinner. The steak house and Japanese were my favorites. Loved Mike's coffee shop. The rooms were clean and spacious. The beach could use some repair work from storm damage but the sand and water colour were amazing.

Great Resort

The resort was well laid out with all buildings forming a U shape around the pools and grounds. Very easy to navigate. The lobby is at the front of the resort with the Ala carte restaurants all located off the lobby. There are two (2) pools back to back. As the room buildings are on either side of the pools it can be quite noisy but not annoying. The food was quite good with the exception of the American Route 66 restaurant which was horrible. There is another lunch buffet at the beach with both inside and outside seating and this also was very good. The beach is almost non existent due to a sever storm several weeks ago. This is out of the control of the resort and unfortunate. There is very little shade at either the pools or the beach. Overall this resort offered good value, was clean, well looked after and comfortable. The service was excellent and staff were all very accommodating. English is widely spoken.

Wonderful resort

The hotel grounds were clean, staff were friendly and there were a lot of activities to participate in. The food was very good, lots of variety and well presented. I felt safe and well taken care of. The pool and beaches were lovely. The sand was lovely and the sea very warm for swimming!

Beautiful resort

The grounds were kept in amazing shape. We found that the room was not kept very nice, it smelt mouldy. The night that we arrived there were towel swans on one of the beds, we took the towels and put them on the dresser, this is where they stayed all week, they never got folded just left in a bunch. Nearing the end of our stay I put them with the dirty towels and housekeeping left them on the bathroom floor. Other than our room I would say that our stay was excellent

Excellent resort

Clean maintained grounds, professional and friendly staff. Great entertainers and shows. Great variety and flavours available in the buffett. Rooms were clean. Resort seems big at first but easy to navigate Disco is fun.

Avoid resort

Terrible resort... Filthy rooms, not cleaned at all, sheets not changed from previous guests, poop on light switch in bathroom, hair on sink and in tub, blood on wall, dirty pair of underwear left from previous guest. New room was cleaner. Had to request sheets to be changed because I saw some blood on them. Cockroaches in hallways. Food was good at a la cartes and ok at buffet. The beach was gone. Eroded away. All the chairs had been pushed so close together it was awful. Smoking everywhere. In [... read more] rooms, at beach, pool, entrances to all restaurants, on patios...everywhere you walked. For a non smoker it was awful!!! Spa well ... Lol they get very close to personal areas. Expensive and I am still sore from my deep tissue massage. Air transat rep was useless. No help at all. Management doesn't care if you are happy or not. And beware of the time share guys.

Good Resort

We had a comfortable stay at the Ocean Blue and enjoyed the large variety of food. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the beach and the pools. Although there were a few passing rain showers, overall the weather was great and we got plenty of sunshine.

Fantastic Resort

We had an amazing time at Ocean Blue!! The rooms were nice, modern, and clean. The pools were fantastic as they were both huge and there was never a shortage of places to sit- like there usually is at most resorts. The entertainment staff was an absolute blast and there was always something fun going on if you don't feel like lounging. They had games in the morning, and afternoon, as well as dance lessons. My only critique would be the food service.. When at an all inclusive I expect to be able to eat when i'm hungry, whenever that may be. We arrived on a Saturday night and slept until 10 the next morning.. We woke to find out that there is no food available between 10:30 and 11:30, because apparently they flip all of the buffets at the same time.. It was also difficult to find anything to eat after the dinner buffets closed in the evening.. the only thing open all night was the sports bar that supposedly serves pizza all night, but they were always out of pizza. If you like to stay out late and enjoy the night life, make sure you store your own food in the fridge for late night and late morning snacking!! They also do not have coffee stations in the restaurants, which can be frustrating to those who need there coffee first thing, as it was often difficult to get the attention of a server. I would like to see this change by my next visit, but I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Ocean Blue to a friend. :)

Great resort

Excellent stay at the Ocean Blue. The food, room and amenities are all top notch. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. I had to call the front desk on arrival due to a safe issue. The issue was promptly fixed max 10 min before the repairman showed up. I have nothing but good things to say about this place.

Beautiful resort

Wonderful resort and the staff were great. Beach was amazing and just a hop to the gorgeous pool. Rooms were very spacious and the comfortable. Staff looked after all our needs with a smile. Will definately go again.

Great Resort

The resort was really nice, the food was awesome, the pools were cool, lots of chairs around pool, didn't have to search for any or wait for one. It was a great experience. The only thing I found wrong was the bathrooms were not thoroughly cleaned. I found dried toothpaste on the walls (god knows how long it was there cause it was there the whole week I was) and the floors had urine stains on them all around the toilet that would not come out. we thought it was excellent resort,room was clean beach was beautiful and the food was good at breakfast and lunch by the beach supper was not much not enough choices entertainment staff(mini me and the rest of the crew was very entertaining and funny bartender at the main lobby (sexy black)was very nice and really good at entertaining the guest.

Beautiful!

The whole resort was beautiful. Only complaint was the A/C didn't seem to be working even after we had it checked by maintenance but everyone seemed to have the same problem. Could not adjust A/C at all.

Phenomenal Resort

great grounds, amazing food. Will come again. The water is blie, the drinks are cold, the weather is warm. This resort was a great vacation and destination wedding locations! Highly recommend this resort to anyone.

Everything we were expecting and more

The resort lived up to our high expectations with excellent food, entertainment staff, service staff, and amazing beach and pools. The pools were never over crowded, the beach and access to miles of ocean front were amazing.

Ocean blue and sand Resort; punta cana

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? (grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.)I travelled with my husband and two other couples and we all enjoyed our stay at this resort; I would recommend it to anyone! We had a 250.00 resort credit; but you need to book the service offered in the coupon and put it towards your balance; ;you can't just use it for what you wish. The food was good; found the wait for the steakhouse was too long; they could have put tables together to accom [... read more]modate party of six instead of waiting for one of possibly three tables with six seats which created longer then necessary wait times; other than that we loved all the restaurants; especially mike's coffee. We did have to call twice to have our fridge restocked as this was to be done daily; but that isn't a big issue for me to give a bad rating. Beach is nice; bit of seaweed; but nothing to stop me from loving the beach; the employees worked hard to keep it off the beach. Loved the beach buffet also; and beach burgers are very tasty!!! Entertainment staff worked very hard every opportunity to keep customers entertained!!!

Wonderful Vacation

We spent 10 wonderful days at the Ocean Blue. The beach and the pools were great. The food at the buffet and at the al a carts were very good. The line up to the Steak House and Mexican restaurant were long but worth the wait. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening entertainment. We would definitely return to this resort.

Wonderful and Fun Resort!

Ocean Blue and Golf Resort has beautiful well kept grounds, lovely large rooms and an amazing beach. The resort has a great vibe. The only issue we had was with the Mexican restaurant, we had to try 3 times before we were successful. The experience trying to get a table was unpleasant. The other restaurants seemed better organized and efficient. Mike's coffee shop was a dream, the guys in there were so awesome and the coffee was delicious . Our teenagers loved all the activities, and had a great time. I loved that it was not too big but not too small either. The food was delicious and we never had an issue finding dishes enjoyed by all.
