All the best,amazing resort and good service! We enjoyed the pools, beach and the rest in the resort. Food wasn't my favorite but I always found something good to eat.I think resort need some renovation and furniture change special in the lobby. All workers are very good and friendly,so we realy enjoyed stay in this hotel.Whit all heard we wll recomand to our friends and we willbe back soon.

Very Very nice Resort!!

My wife and I stayed at the Laguna Azul early december 2018! The staff are fantastic!! always have a smile and of course a "Ola!!" when you pass by them. Rooms are good, cleaned every day........ we stayed in a room with two double beds..............the beds are small and difficult for two of us to sleep in. Food is also very good with lots of selection and the drinks just keep coming. Bar tenders are very quick and have lots of personality which equals FUN for all.

Great for the price

Overall the this was a very good deal for the price paid (830$ 1 week) Hotel is large, many bars and pools on a spread out area Clean, 'normal' room. There was 1/2-1 day with no hot water but they fixed it. Beach is on the best part of Varadero Food is as expected in Cuba Drinks are as expected. local selection only (fee for others). Of note there was no local beer due to a factory issue and the hotel replaced it with Heineken. Thank you! Nice resort, great people, bad timing (weather wasn't great!)

The resort as a whole was quite nice, although the rooms were kind of ordinary. The wifi was not what I'm accustomed to, no idea it it's the infrastructure or the resort - and there's really no television to speak of - so don't bother to go here if your plan is to hibernate in a room!

Resort showing its age

Hotel was showing its age. Had been a guest of this same hotel 5 years ago, quality of the hotel, care and service was not the same. Many elevator were not operational and got stuck in one which then was deemed out of service.

Absolutely amazing resort !!

5th visit to Cuba having stayed at different resorts. This one superceeds them by far . Grounds the staff were all amazing . Will definitely be back ! Wished we could have stayed longer. Only slight down was distance to centre of varedero and 15cuc for cost of taxi one way. The varedero bus is great but takes a hour plus to get there.

Absolutely loved it!

Absolutely loved it! It was clean and the service was amazing! Staff was really friendly and accommodating. Food at the a la carte restaurants were great. The buffet had a lot of variety but food quality was inconsistent. However, they did have items that were made fresh in front of you which was a plus. Pool and beach were awesome. Plan on staying there again.

Iberostar Azul

Remember, Cuba is a third world country so when people complain, they aren't taking into consideration the circumstances of the people of Cuba. We had nothing but excellent service at the Iberostar. Yes, it was in need of repair and yes, it was very outdated but if you want to feel welcome and cared for, this is a great place to go.

Fantastic all round

This property is definitely a must stay at place. The only issue we had was the first room had a few things wrong. We went straight to our sunwing rep Janel and he had it all sorted out within an hour and had us moved to another room. The staff and grounds were fantastic. I have absolutely nothing bad to say. We didnt do any of the ala carte restaurants but everyone that went had no complaints. I definitely give this a 5star rating. Not very Happy Iberostar Laguna Azul

Was not pleased at all. Ran out of Crystal beer on the 2nd day, food limited, room had no air conditioning, nothing stocked in fridge except mold, was so disappointed we were there 4 years ago and it was fantastic, really has gone down hill, the only good thing is Dania and Kensey helped us out but still resort is going down hill fast, all resorts around looked run down, been going to Cuba for 11 years and now we are done, so sad such a wonderful place and wonderful people but resorts too run do [... read more]wn and not being renovated so sad

Amazing resort

We just came back from Cuba. We where in Iberostar Laguna Azul. We had great time, service vas greatest, staff in hotel are great, hotel is wary clean. This is our second time in same hotel, we are planning to go back agen!

Amazing Resort, Definitely Revisiting!!

I came to this resort with my partner for a wedding. It did not disappoint. The food selection was amazing, I love my cheese and cured meat! Beware it is Cuba so you may get sick, I know some of my friends did. Avoid cut up fruit, the pasta bar is your best friend. The Japanese a la carte was the best one. The pool bar was my favourite hang out spot. Great Quick Getaway!

The hotel was terrific. It was on a beautiful beach and it was not too large so very easy to get around. The grounds and beach were very clean. Check in was a breeze. Make your dinner reservations as soon as you arrive, limited seating and double check your reservation ticket - we had a mix-up and they could not seat us one night in the a la carte. Rooms were comfortable but dated. The bathrooms need a serious refresh. Very friendly and helpful staff and fun shows nightly. Snack bar was 24 hours but very limited offerings. The beach is the draw.

Fantastic Resort Just Love the Layout .

Ground , Public Areas arel well placed . This Hotel Has great potential with a Modern Makeover Good food Products , Preparation skill lacking . Service is not uniformly carried out by all , but remain friendly . Scallops , Lamb chops, roast duck ala orange, beef kabab or Vienazelle ,escargot shrimp cocktail and other international flavour. Hygiene is poor missing hand towel in public are mens wash rooms for three days. Broken gym equipment , Gym could be open at 5 am to 10 or 24 hours I would like to recommend this hotel but is sure need a makeover. Bed cover poor appearance poor bathroom lighting , senior friendly walk in shower would be great please supply face cloth. I liked the hotel and I am coming back

This was my first time in Cuba and I was told many scary stories about the food so I was little bit scared before my trip as I had my kids coming with me. I will talk about the food in this resort as it was my first concerm .So I enjoyed food so much,as it is all organic, that's why it goes bad very quick. You just have to watch what you eat . Gormet is nice rest too, food was very good. Italian rest is nothing special just normal . Staff was amazing, lots of entertainment for families , rooms are clean but some things ( closet door ex ) can be broken, but not a big deal . Everything is located close, so no need to walk too much .

Overall a great vacation, staff was super-the best I have encountered on a southern vacation. Facilities were clean, beach was beautiful. Overall appearance of resort is striking as long as you don't look at the little things. There were some little issues...the chairs in the theatre are super uncomfortable, our party commented we couldn't appreciate the incredible onstage skills because it was so uncomfortable in the seats. Rainy season presents some challenges with leaks in ceilings and water removal, but given the circumstances, overall staff dealt with it very well. The buffet was my least favorite thing, the layout is congested and mass confusion, the food was not appealing to me at all and was the worst buffet I have experienced at a Cuba resort. Having said that--I didn't starve and I no member of our party of 10 got sick. We all enjoyed the a la cartes. The food will prevent me from returning to this resort, but otherwise, it was a great resort and I sincerley give a full star rating to the staffing.

I love everything except the food.

I can cook better than the chef in this hotel. I hope they can take specific feedbacks on the food. May be hire a Chinese cook and it will be 100% better. Other than that, the place is great. Nice pools and beach.

I will give it no more than 3.5 stars.

Pools and beaches were great. Easy to find a lounge chair, but the pool area needs more shady covers. It seemed to be not too busy and the hotel wasn't full. Room was spacious. Balcony was great. Our room was located in the third building from the lobby; I could walk through the other buildings to get to my room; no need to walk outside in the sun or rain. AC in the room was cold enough; but difficult to control the temperature. I don't think the thermostat was working. I had to turn on and  [... read more]off the AC in the middle of the night. Soft drinks and water in the fridge supposed to be replaced every second day; but in the 7 days I stayed, they were only replaced once. Buffet is not that great. You won't starve, but don't expect too much from it. I only tried the Italian specialty restaurant. Not thrill about it. Probably can get the same food from the buffet; except the smoked salmon (appetizer). I gave up and cancelled the Gourmet Restaurant reservation. Smoking was an issue. People were smoking everywhere, by the pool, in the lobby. Can't avoid it. I will recommend this hotel only if the price is under CAN$1000. I will probably try a newer hotel next time.

Beautiful Resort

Grounds were very well kept. Beach was spectacular! Food was ok, could always find something. Dissapointed with the beds, uncomforable and very lower. Saw many bad practices when handling food at buffet and using same dirty cloth for everything.
