Allegro Cozumel: Great " family " resort

Nice small resort, easy to navigate around. Great for families with small children . Beach clean with lots of chairs. Dive shop on resort nice and convenient. Professional dive shop. Great experience. I'm a picky eater food okay but I didn't starve.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Perfect location for resort. Loved our ocean-view room; which was actually close to the ocean!

The grounds, public areas and rooms were adequately well kept. Loved the fact that reservations for dining were not necessary so we didn't have to feel pressured to be on time anywhere while on vacation. Food was good but would have liked to have more Mexican cuisine, as we love to experience the food of the country we're visiting. Nightly entertainment was a disappointment unfortunately. While we were allowed to attend the shows and activities at the sister hotel, we expected to have nightly en [... read more]tertainment of a better quality at our hotel. While the entertainment crew tried their best I'm sure, it seems that more experience/knowledge in the field is required. As guests, we wanted to be entertained; not to be relied on to be the entertainers. Guest participation should be post formal entertainment, which should ideally be featuring the culture of the country.

Allegro Cozumel: Amazing resort

This was one of the best family vacations we have had. The recreation staff was excellent none stop fun.... all staff was very friendly the resort was always clean. Food was great! I can’t say enough about this resort it’s a must stay for anyone. Thank you allergro Cozumel we will be back for sure !

El Cozumeleno Beach: Great resort!

Beautiful location, the buffet is 5’ from the ocean the sunsets were beautiful! The people were all very kind and helpful. The resort/rooms were very clean. The omelettes were fantastic! The food was on the bland side, but you could always find something to eat. I just wouldn’t pick this resort if you’re looking for amazing food. The drinks were great pina’s and Miami vises excellent.

Occidental Cozumel: Nice Resort

Occidental Cozumal is a beautiful resort. The staff are very friendly and hard working, rooms are nice and spacious and fridge was always stocked. However the food needs some work. Two of the nights it was a Chinese concept, 4 days apart. Also had 3 nights of severe severe diarrhea.

Occidental Cozumel: Beautiful Resort

The resort contained beautiful well maintained gardens and grounds which housed an array of wildlife such as iquanas, gekos and birds (if you're not an animal lover don't worry they will not approach you). The rooms were clean and spacious with lots of hot water and adequate air conditioning. Lots of choices at the buffet and food handling was of high standard. Adult pool was lovely and we enjoyed the daily visits by the iguanas but you had to select your pool chairs early in the morning if you wanted a spot. Beach was nice and contained a childerns pool nearby. I can’t say enough about the hotel staff they made every effort to make your stay enjoyable especially the food and bar servers. We also enjoyed the pizza at night and the nightly shows are of good quality. We arrived around 8:30pm at the Cozumel airport, ignore the sales people in the airport lobby (they make you think they're your hotel reps) and go directly through to meet your ride to the hotel which is ~20 min drive. Once at the hotel checkin took 10-15 min and then we were driven to our room. Even at 9pm the buffet area was open, also pizza was available upstairs in the open patio. We purchased the island tour package which was good but too long and snorkling (Charra- ch?? the bigger boat with a bathroom) which was fantastic, we saw turtles and a lot of fish, crew was great too. We recommend downloading your airline app on a cell phone to checkin to your flight prior to as it will eliminate standing in the very long checkin line at the airport. You receive 1hr free internet, there were 2 computers onsite I assume for flight checkin. Extra internet access can be purchased for a fee.

Sunscape Sabor Cozumel: Excellent resort .

It is truly an excellent resort although the only negative thing is that some [ not all ] of the rooms are being up graded and some have not been up graded at this time . The food and restaurants are very good and the staff is excellent . They will bend over backwards in their service . The resort is also very clean .

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Very Tired Resort

Overall, my experience was positive however it is not up to the Secrets brand. My husband and I were happy with our room although others in our party we’re justifiably not (rooms not what they reserved). The food was very good in the restaurants and the Sky bar a lot of fun with beautiful views. There was an obvious lack of staff in all areas but those working were working very hard to keep up. Entertainment team top notch. Pool cleanliness was a real issue. We never saw anyone skimming the Ma [... read more]natee Bar pool and it’s condition deteriorated during the week. The day after the foam party the pool was never cleaned broken balloons, lime wedges, glasses etc. were still on the deck. On our last day the pool water was covered with scum, leaves, twigs and cigarette butts. It was so bad we asked for a skimmer to clean it ourselves. About an hour later a staff member arrived and we assisted him in getting the junk out so we could enjoy our pool time. Beach was lovely and you cannot beat the views. Hopefully, Secrets should puts some money in this property and gets its up to the same standard as other Secrets properties. Until that happens we will not return or recommend.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: A disappointment for a Secret's branded resort.

The resort was smaller and bit dated but overall was pretty clean. First impressions were not favourable. On arrival, we were not greeted by any welcome staff. Rooms were not provided as requested. Seemed to be a shortage of dishware in buffet - no side dishes, no bowls - only large dinner plates. Made it difficult with soup and cereals. Also seemed to be shortage of wait staff in buffet. Restaurants were very good. Pools and pool side service was very good. As noted by others Aura Cozumel se [... read more]emed to be "the poor cousin" of the Secret's Resorts.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Not your typical Secrets

I had stayed at 4 Secrets prior to booking Aura Cozumel. I am a huge fan of the brand. This resort, however, was not quite up to the standard of the other Secrets Resorts. This location was purchased from Wyndham 8 years ago and not all rooms are renovated - many are out dated. It definitely needs a facelift. The staff was pleasant - but the service was fairly slow. If you have never been to a Secrets, don’t judge them based on this resort. Overall I would say it is 4 stars at best.

El Cozumeleno Beach: Sadly in need of an update!

Staff were for the most part friendly and helpful. Pool areas lovely. All rooms appear to be ocean view. We were 'upgraded' from gardenview to third floor with obstructed view. Laughable...Room was in disrepair, old tired and dated. Needed paint and a good overhaul. Bedside table lamps falling apart; flood type bulb pointed at ceiling! Reading out of the question. Bed was comfy as there was egg crate type foam on top of mattress. Towels and sheets worn dingy and grey. One buffet and one a la carte. Food a huge disappointment for Mexico. (We have lived in Mexico and had the best meals in town). The beach towel and chaise lounge hustle is a fiasco. People reserving over night, all day, and chairs not used. When on vacation I don't want to,line up 50 minutes prior to concierge opening up at 8 a.m.for same day dining reservations. Up at the crack of dawn to reserve chaise at beach or pool, hope no one takes it. No clean glasses in room three days running. Asked housekeeper in Español, told to go downstairs or phone housekeeping. I begged at lobby bar finally.We tip housekeeping well BTW. Too bad as hotel has huge potential to be a finer resort. Zel Cozumel: great resort

Smaller resort Very clean and well kept grounds Staff always attentive Buffet was great, Italian a la carte was good, Mexican a la carte was OK and international a la carte service was extremely slow. Hotel caters to golfers so beach and pool were never crowded. Everything closes at 1am. Don't expect too much for night life.

Grand Park Royal Cozumel: Awesome

Really enjoyed my stay. This hotel is super clean, layout is very nice, ands small. Not a lot of walking around to get places. Felt very safe, and the food was pretty good, especially the a la carte restaurants. The beach is pretty small, but the snorkeling right off the beach made up for that, and the pools were super clean and beautiful. Love this place, will return.

El Cozumeleno Beach: Great resort

Good location not too far from Ferry. Great food and the place is kept clean. Finally we saw Mariachis the last evening we were there. Staff was accommodating and pleasant. We got an upgraded room ( family room instead of two separate rooms as we were a family of 5) . That was fantastic. We had no issues with getting purified bottle water in our room. Found out that the tip we leave in the room was taken from the supervisor instead of the cleaning lady. So we gave the lady directl [... read more]y her tip when we could. Only one bad thing.... the cocktails are made with a liquid of artificial sugar.. like splenda. They taste very bad. Finally one server told us how to ask for the original recipe.... Asucar Natural (in Spanish) We did excursions like the snorkeling but no need to pay extra when you have plenty of fish to see at our own beach. Great vacation.

El Cozumeleno Beach: El Cozumeleno Beach Resort in Cozumel

The hotel is old, but the people are friendly. There is an outdoor restaurant and the food was quite good. There is only one restaurant with a dress code on the hotel's premises. Unfortunately, you have to line up at 7am in the morning in order to get a table in the nice restaurant. The pools are nice and there is snorkeling at the hotel's beach. Lot's of fish to be seen there while snorkeling. There are a lot of excursions to be done. A friend took me for a volkswagen ride on the island. Occidental Cozumel: A week of Sun and Diving

We just got back from our week at Occidental Cozumel. We chose to try this resort before settling on a brand of hotels we truly love, like Iberostar. Keep in mind while reading this review that we just got back 3 months ago from being at Iberostar Paraiso Maya, which was an incredible 5 star experience compared to what we received at Occidental. Upon arrival at 11am, we were told that we had to check in at the Royal Club and to wait for a golf car to pick us up. After waiting around for 1 [... read more]0 - 15 minutes, my husband and I chose to walk the 2 minutes over to the club to check into our rooms (not an issue, but not sure why they wanted to drive us over). There seems to only be one golf cart for the entire resort, very much unlike Iberostar's fleet of 20+. Wifi is an additional fee if you are not Royal Club (it was free at Iberostar), and not sure why they wanted to check us in at the Royal Club since they claimed it was full and we could not upgrade to it. Our room was "not ready" so we had to come back at 3pm for our room keys. Wasn't an issue as we headed to the buffet. We got our keys at 3pm only to find that we were being placed on the ground floor. If you are on the ground or second floor of any of their buildings, prepare to hear every toilet flush, every shower, every suitcase and every step of your neighbours above. Luckily we asked to be moved up, and managed to be in a second floor room with quieter top floor neighbours. Emma, the concierge was very quick and helpful to find us a room, and extremely understanding of our concerns. All week, the single lunch buffet they have on site was sparse in comparison to the immense selection we had at Iberostar. Not only was it sparse in selection, it was sparse in quantity. Once whatever dish was finished, it generally was not replenished for the duration of the meal. Speaking of sparse, the staff on site seemed to not only be sparse, but not eager to greet you as they did at Iberostar. Almost every single time we went to a restaurant (breakfast, lunch and dinner) we had to wait a good 5 - 10 minutes before being seated because there was no host (and no line up). One time at lunch, there was a good 30 - 40 person line up for the buffet because the host was not only seating people, she was clearing tables and serving drinks. Breakfast and lunch are very bland and repetitive - so if you are looking for just peanut butter and toast, or stale home fries and soggy eggs, you will be content. At breakfast, the omelet station is generally left unattended, only managed to have eggs made fresh twice because no one was there, even after standing around waiting for someone to arrive. Rooms are nice, but odd that the closet and safe is inside the bathroom. Tiles are particularly slippery when wet so beware! No fun towel art or kind notes from the cleaning staff, and generally they take a very long time to get to your room. There isn't a big traditional theatre as most resorts showcase for evening performances, just a big empty square with plastic chairs. The grounds are lush and beautiful with iguanas and coaties. Beach is not as well maintained as most resorts I have been to. Garbage and plastic cups are discarded and not cleared as quickly. There appeared to be only one staff member asking to bring you drinks, as well as only one bar to get drinks from for the beach and pool next to the single pool at the resort. There is an adult pool too, but we are more ocean swimmers than pool. We were there mainly for the diving, but always enjoy dressing up and eating like kings on vacation. Although the diving was incredible, we were disappointed with the dining experience at the resort. It is possible that they were understaff, however, we will most likely not be returning to Occidentals anywhere due to this experience.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Good resort

Hotel very nice. Room were in one and two story buildings dotted throughout the property. Paid extra to be close to pool and beach...felt worth it. Two comfortable beds, stocked fridge {Beer, water, pop) good sized bathroom along with balcony w hammock. Jungle lined walkway connects areas of resort. One big pool divided in two by swim up bar. One side quiet, the other for pool games. Beach front large with plenty of shade. Sadly not an easy entry into ocean...stairs into water off long pie [... read more]r. Food was ok. Breakfast at buffet was tiresome...coffee tasted like it was powdered/instant. Lunch served in poolside/steak house building. Usually good selection. Also a burger/salad/hotdog/nacho snack bar by beach. Chinese rest. was good food and atmosphere. Mexican rest. was lit too bright and food was ok. Steakhouse was good. Tenderloin chewy, but beef back ribs awesome (too much bbq sauce dumped on). Staff were all great, grounds beautiful, food ok, pool and beach large though entering ocean required walk to pier. 20 mins to town/airport. Stocked bar fridge. Free Wifi throughout resort...even beach. I would go back happily.

El Cozumeleno Beach: Old resort

The hotel was old, air conditioning didn’t work properly, beds were horrible, long lines for drinks, ran out of beach towels, not enough towels in rooms, no facecloths, would only leave 1 bottle of water per day in a room for 2 people, not enough chairs or shade, long line up at the bar, food was not very good, didn’t clean rooms until late afternoon, same food - only 1 buffet restaurant, line up at 8:00 am to make reservations for (nice) restaurant, if not there early couldn’t get reserva [... read more]tions. The best thing about the hotel was the snorkelling.

Occidental Cozumel: All I hoped for!

We had a lovely time at Occidental Cozumel. It was everything we hoped for. Quiet, peaceful with excellent service by everyone from check in and restaurants and activities. The grounds were very natural and beautiful. It felt more personal than going to a massive resort. I would recommend this hotel and island to anyone and I have since being home. The food was really good at both the buffet and the ala cart restaurants. Thanks for a great holiday!!

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Not worth the name Secrets

We visit the same name resort in DR last year,it was great 5*.I had a food poisoning on my 3 day. The rest was a disaster.Doctor visit me in the room.Was given I’v with 4 meds at the cost of $370us.Will never travel to Mexico again.The best was the flight business class,thanks to Graham !
