Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort

The only issue with the resort was that there was little to no beach in front of the hotel. What beach was there was rocky and rough. You could move to the next beach and swim but a short walk was required. The staff did everything possible to please and accommodate the guest.

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: Pacifico Dorado

We were on the 19th floor with a beautiful ocean view. The room was clean and comfortable and staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was goid. We enjoyed our trip there and would go back. This was our first time at this resort.

Hotel Irma Zihuatanejo: Beautiful, quiet hotel with amazing views!

Hotel Irma is a beautiful Mexican style hotel perched on a cliff overlooking the bay. Incredibly clean throughout the whole resort and the staff are wonderful! This is the place for a relaxing, quiet vacation(bar and restaurant close at 10pm). Close to downtown area and marina and many great restaurants. We will definitely return!

Azul Ixtapa Resort: A Mexican jewel

We really enjoyed our time at the Azul Ixtapa. Amazing ocean view from almost every room. Excellent service. Delicious food at the al a cart restaurants. Evening entertainment was good - the dancers are very professional.

Barcelo Ixtapa: Excellent Resort

We had an excellent time at the Barcelo, January 7th to the 14th, though the first couple of day there was a lot of locals and they had preferred service, I suspect it was the language barrier that we face every holiday to a Spanish speaking country, the workers were more comfortable speaking to them in their native tongue. That being said the Barcelo is well located in town, we walk lots in town to check out their wares and go to bars and check out the local culture. The only complaint was the pool grill, the guys could not eat there unless they had selves on their shirts, we didn't get that. It a casual restaurant and they were dressed, never saw that anywhere else.

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: very nice

This hotel was very nice, not a great experience. The staff was wonderful but had to work extremely hard to keep up with guests requests, due to not enough staff required to accommodate the amount of guests. The food was ok. Restaurants closed much to early. It was very difficult to find food at times during the day. Some days we would travel from restaurant to restaurant only to find closed doors. Many days the only place we could get food was at the espresso and panino bar. Our room was ok. My [... read more] husband and I had to share a double bed, the mattress had a foam pad on it and was very hard. Our pillows were also filled with small pieces of foam which was very disgusting to sleep with. After viewing our room we immediately put in a request to be transferred to another room but were told there was nothing else available. We tried asking all week but were not moved to better accommodations. My husband and I also had a terrible experience at the spa. After getting a massage from a unqualified staff I suffered neck and head pain which was caused by the terrible massage. After complaining to the manager she arranged an other massage for me to help me recover from the terrible massage I just had. The second massage was fabulous. We had a great week with friends regardless of a few things the can go wrong. The grounds are beautiful and very well keep. The staff was wonderful.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Beautiful Resort

The views and sunsets are great from all the rooms. The balconies are spacious and the rooms are clean and large and well maintained. Our Maid was Olivia and she did a great job of keeping coffee in the room, as well as keeping it clean. Our waiters and bartenders also did a great job, I remember Xavier and Victor in particular, as well as waiters Carolos and Joel. I also like the close proximity to Ixtapa Island taxis and Playa Linda.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Boutique hotel right on the beach

We decide not to go to an all-inclusive resort this year. The Emporio was exactly what we were looking for. It is right on the beach, with plenty of palapas available for shade and a long stretch of sand to walk on. Our room was on the 10th floor facing the ocean, while my daughter's room faced the mountains. Both of us were delighted with our rooms. The maid service was thoughtful and friendly. Our favourite places to hang out were the beach (with great bar and food service), the pool in the late afternoon and the lobby bar. Of course breakfast was always a treat and we usually sat at a table by the open windows. What we enjoyed the most about the hotel was the Mexican clientele. It was nice to hear them speak Spanish and we felt we were in a family resort where many generations were enjoying a holiday get away. If I were to make one suggestion, it would be to have a hot water urn and coffee urn available during the day and evening so we could enjoy a warm drink. And a small warning that the oceanside room does pick up the noise from the neighbouring hotel music. That might be a consideration in choosing your room location. However, the rooms were quite soundproof, so we did not hear our neighbours at all. One of the best things about this hotel is its location. We walked across the street to the village and found innumerable restaurants, bars and shops. We were not at a loss for new restaurants to try. My daughter took a bus to Zihuatanejo for a late lunch and we all visited Isla Ixtapa for a lazy lunch on the beach. My husband and I also rented bicycles from the hotel and rode to the marina and Playa Linda along the cycling path. Ixtapa has much to do, feels very safe and prices at neighbouring restaurants are quite reasonable. The Emporio is perfectly located to enjoy this lovely tourist area.

Fontan Ixtapa: 3 star at most

We stayed at the Fontan Ixtapa Dec 24-31, 2015. The resort was too small to accommodate the number of people that were there over the holidays. There were not even close to enough pool or beach chairs. You were in line constantly for bar service and there is no evening entertainment. We purchased 3 "deluxe oceanview" rooms and requested king-size beds. One room had no balcony and none of the rooms came with king beds. I would not pay extra for these "upgrades" again. The staff are friendly, the beach is amazing, the on-site massage is very reasonably priced and they treat you very well. The resort is perfectly located across the street from the markets, restaurants & bars which provided easy access to the bank machine, etc. Because the resort entertainment is non-existent after sunset we often wandered across to the market which meant that we spent a lot of extra money on top of our all-inclusive fees. I would return to Ixtapa in a heartbeat......but I would spend a few more dollars and stay at a better resort.

The hotel was spotless,staff very accommodating,food was great unbelievably relaxing.no time share hassles. Beautiful scenery and view.locals very friendly.few beach vendors. Lots to see and do. We will definitely be returning.

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: Perfect vacation resort!

The Doradao was clean, the service was excellent and servers went out of their way to make sure you had all you needed daily. Friendly hotel staff from the maids to the bartenders and secutiry. I felt safe at all times. The food was good, especially the fine dining restaurant. The rooms were clean and the hotel grounds well kept. The entertainment staff worked over time to encourage fun and participation. The beach was awesome and enjoyed the many sunsets night after night. These people have the [... read more] biggest hearts and truly do what it takes to make sure your holiday is special. Tip for sure becuase they work hard in the hot sun all day and they deserve it. I loved the Dorado and plan to go again soon. Memorable vacation spot.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Amazing Resort

My wife and I have been to Mexico and different parts for years, this was our first trip to Ixtapa. Every room faces the bay and a popular Island is directly across from the resort. The rooms themselves are very large and beautiful. The resort is very clean, staff is very friendly and you don't have to get up at 4am to get a chair around the pool. The worse part of the trip is the airline, Sunwing sucks. After a 7 hour delay leaving unannounced until the last minute, an aborted 1st attempt landi [... read more]ng , very hard 2nd landing. The return flight was even worse with the take out aborted as we began our take off as the was a snow truck in front of us. We are already planning on going back, but see if Westjet flys there :-)

Tesoro Ixtapa: deffinitely Sunny.

small resort; good staff. over all ok (was "supposed" to be a 4 star), we had a good time, but the beds were not comfortable.. by the way we travelled in Feb 2014. pros: weather - sun all the way thru; good food; good entertainment program; Cons: beds not so comfortable; average beach not good for swimming;

Fontan Ixtapa: Loved it!

We travel extensively throughout the Caribbean and ixtapa has become one of our new favourite places in the world. The hotel lived up to its 3 star rating. We found staff went above and beyond for us, the rooms are basic but more than adequate and we thought the food was great. Over Easter week was insanely busy though and when we return it will not be over Easter. Very happy with both the area and the hotel.

Azul Ixtapa Resort: Far Exceeded Expectation!

Almost all reviews say it's a wonderful resort and how true! It's clean, well-kept, well-run, staff well-trained and motivated. Especially impressed us are the servers at the a la carte restaurants, they are very professional and proud of their work and made us feel we are in truly 5-star restaurants. We are lucky to get a one-bedroom suite without having to pay extra and everyday after the scorching sun we looked forward to cooling ourselves down in our big, clean and nicely-decorated room with [... read more] a great view of the pool and the beach. What more could we ask for? This is our tenth all-inclusive vacation in Central America and one of the best, every aspect considered. Sunset dinner at the Oyster Bar is such a luxury, the waves, the birds, the sunset, the breeze and the attentive service. We love kids and the local Mexican families at the resorts bring lots of them, all very well-behaved. Have already recommended to friends and will continue to do so. The only thing is it's hard to do real swimming with all the kids in the pool.

Posada Real Ixtapa: Nice resort

The rooms were nice and clean, loved the pool. They could of had more canadian dishes at the buffet. Very few people understood English , a good place to go if you speak Spanish . You can't swim in the ocean because of the large waves. Don't go to this resort during April break because it's the school break too.

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: Great resort in a lovely area of Mexico

Overall the resort lived up to our expectations. The food / a la cartes were hit and miss, however the local restaurants made up for it. Excellent staff, beautiful beach, and comfortable rooms. All in all we would stay here again

We enjoyed a wonderful week at the beautiful Sunscape Dorado Pacifica in Ixtapa! Staff and facility are awesome! Will definitely return to this pristine beach and hotel. It was our favourite destination in Mexico!

Azul Ixtapa Resort: great place!

This resort is in an great location! Short walk to pier for water taxi to the island and a great market close as well. Lots of activities for everyone to do, our group consisted of 16, 18, 19yrs and adults and everyone was busy if they wanted to be. Staff are all excellent! Rooms all have ocean view! This resort is quite spread out and has lots of stairs so lots of exercise which is not a bad thing.

spacious rooms, free wifi (which is great) - only issues are would prefer not to need towel cards and a bit more variety for the meals. Also - most "fun" area in the pools was off-limits to kids (cave pool-bar)
