Great vacation!

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at the Riu. There was a mix up with the room ( 1 king bed vs 2 singles) when we arrived, but it was quickly taken care of. The staff was friendly and the washrooms were really well kept. There were plenty of beach chairs available and we never had to wait a long time for any of the restaurants. Good Time

The resort was good for me and my vacation needs. There was a common complaint from many people about food, non- English speaking staff and cleanliness. I have been to 4 Riu Resorts in Cancun Mexico and this one doesn't live up to that standard. My room wasn't cleaned 3 days of my stay. When I went down to the front desk I was told to put the blue sign which states "clean my room" ... there was no sign other than the red do not disturb. Staff and guests were walking over the coffee so I took some napkins and started to clean it up as I'm a hospitality foodservice manager on the health and safety committee. Soon as started to clean up the coffee captains and servers all rushed to stop me and take over the task. Lady servers are the best staff they have. Male servers, in general, are mediocre at best, especially for breakfast. Yawning at the station, not paying attention and forgetful. Cancun Mexico when you enter and restaurant the servers are escorting you to there station, coffee, juice, and water are offered and served in a flash. Males servers, for the most part, don't make an effort to speak English where all woks of life coming to the resort making an effort to speak the language. Resort grounds should be cleaned through the night. I came down at 6:30 am and walked across a dirty theatre which was always cleaned in the morning along with the walkways leading to pools and beach. Many a morning I walked from my room passed numerous glasses, nachos spilled on the floor and beverages spill. There is no beach view from the resort like 99% resorts rather a pathway leading to the beach. Could it be intentional? The front desk by day doesn't reflect the rest of the resort as when its all lit up at night. The Jerk chicken kiosk is a good idea but they need to change up the hot dogs every day. I wouldn't change the chicken but you may want to consider some plain chicken for those who don't eat spicy. The jerk chicken gets dry as the day goes on but if you eat before noon its juicy and good. The daily hot dogs are not fully cooked on a regular basis. I think it should be changed up especially if you eat there daily. They should consider alternating hot dogs burgers and possibly a chorizo sausage. There was no relish available for the hot dogs. Bar service was great along with the selection of alcohol. Peanuts were good and a nice touch. Sports Bar was good but someone should be monitoring it as when its busy its hard to get a drink. I would reccomend but not all.

Awesome Resort

The hotel was fantastic with beautiful landscape and colourful flowers.The restaurants were fabulous with so much variety .The culture and people were fabulous.I would recommend this resort to fellow family and colleagues.

AMAZING

This was our first time in any Caribbean destination but we were SO impressed. Amazing facilities and programming, the food was so good, great beach area with little tiki huts, and even a water park in the resort! The pools were awesome, loved the in-water lounging chairs. It's a big resort but not ridiculously spread out like some of them seemed to be when we picked up others for excursions. Super happy. Would absolutely recommend.

FANTASTIC RESORT!

This hotel was amazing! definitely very lively and relaxing at the same time. My boyfriend and I travelled here for the first time and absolutely loved it. I definitely recommend any Riu Resort. The beach was absolutely wonderful.. the only issue I would say about the beach is to head there super early in the morning to grab a shady spot. If you don't go early enough you won't get a good seat. All around a great hotel, great food, fun games, the swim up bars are fantastic. Definitely 5 star!!

It was ok!

This resort was nice but slightly disappointing .. check in took way to long. A few buses arrived simultaneously and there were only 4 staff members to do check in .We were upset that we specifically booked with our kids to be in the same building as us and they ended up being ten minutes away on the other side of the resort . Very inconvienient when one was severely ill in the middle of the night. Food was ok . Specialty restaurants were terrible. Waited 40 minutes for reservation only to fi [... read more]nd out that they were all just buffets with same food as general buffet. Bathroom by pool was small and falling apart . Our room air conditioner never worked right even though we complained and had it fixed and our two of our booked roooms had broken showers upon arrival. Pools were warm/ hot. Not refreshing for June . No hot tubs or jacuzzi tubs on belconies which was disappointing considering adult only resort. Entertainment was typical and boring . Booked taxi to go to other Riu resorts for $20 round trip. Paid initial $10 one way , got to the other Rui only to find out they wouldn’t serve us there. When we tried to get taxi back to our resort they told us the taxi was now additional $45 but he would go down to $25. Had to walk back on beach . Took an hour! Should be complimentary transportation between resorts especially since only 5 minute drive . Service was great! Bar staff went out of their way . Staff was friendly. Beach was beautiful . Lots of pool chairs available , and plenty of room in buffet restaurant. However would not go back or recommend to others .

By far the best resort!

10/10 for everything except the coffee. Horrible burnt tasting coffee. And the cappuccino’s should all be made out of the real coffee machine not the push a button and it’s done kind. Other then that, beautiful resort and I’ll definitely come back!

The best resort I have ever been to

This was the best resort that I have ever been to. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. The grounds were always clean The rooms were great and the staff was wonderful. They always had something to do

Incredible Resort!!!

The hotel grounds, pools, restaurants, beach, entertainment and staff were amazing! We had a fabulous time and would definitely recommend to all! Not one thing to complain about!! 5 stars all around *****

Awesome time!

Everything at this resort was amazing! The rooms, staff, pools, restaurants, bars, the beach! I can’t really think of any negatives I experienced. The nightly shows were also very well done and interactive! I would definitely return.

Good resort

Nice beach, good setup, more shade needed, ok food, better at buffets, slow service. Good facility. Good entertainment. Everything within short distance. Good water slides, nice foam parties and beach parties.

Party Resort

This was definitely a very fun resort. We had a great time, the waterslides were awesome and the party pool (across from the slides) was a great time. For an all-inclusive the food was ok. Nothing amazing, but there were always lots of options at the buffets which is great. Down side, we arrived at 11pm, and the only food available was at the sports bar. It included nacho chips and cheese sauce, hot dogs, and pre-made hamburgers stored in a fridge available to be microwaved. This was great when  [... read more]we had been drinking all night, but quite the buzzkill after a day of travelling. The grounds were nice and the resort is very clean. The beach is not the greatest but the pools make up for it! Overall I would recommend this resort to a group of young people looking to have a good time. There is no shortage of that! If you are looking for something a bit classier and relaxing, I'd steer clear.

Pleasantly surprised by its beauty!

Hotel was wonderful. Our room was very clean and well attended to every day. Food was excellent including the coffee which is not always the case in large hotels. The hotel employees were very helpful and looked like they really enjoyed their work and dealing with the visitors. The evening shows were ordinary but good performances. I would definitely return anytime.

Meh...It was an ok resort

Reading previous reviews I sort of knew what I would expect (food not the greatest...kind of a party resort etc). Let me start by saying this was the first Riu we stayed at. For the last 5 years we have been staying mostly at Paradisus resorts in Mexico and Punta Cana which are amazing. We decided to try something different this time. We [... read more] were in room 3389 facing one of the pools and the waterslide. We didn't check in until 5 or 6 pm. so we dropped our things and headed out for something to eat. Will review food later. The staff were overall great particularly in the restaurants and bars. We found the front desk were not entirely friendly. I found it interesting that they didnt give a printed sheet of the activities going on in the resort at check in or in the room. The grounds were kept in great shape and looked lovely. We saw some entertainment shows which are typical for resorts. nothing mind blowing. the things we enjoyed the most were hosted by the in house "animation" team. They were absolutely amazing and so hard working. Restaurants: they really dont have a la carte restaurants. It seems all the food they serve is pretty much pre-cooked and plated when ordered when the restaurant has table service. Indian Restaurant - appetizer buffet was ok. when the served main course came out (there is no choice just a pre set sampling of different dishes) it was all barely warm so you could tell it was just sitting in a chaffing dish waiting to be scooped out. Steak restaurant - other reviews had this as the best place - I don't agree. Steak was not very good at all. this is where we went for my wife's birthday. I let them know the day before that we were coming and they did put some balloons up at our table which is nice however we seemed to be neglected a heck of a lot. Our Caesar salad was already on the table when we got there but had no dressing on it. We sat for 15 minutes before anyone came by - we had to ask for a different salad as the one on the table had bacon which my wife does not eat. As we sat there another 8 tables came in and had their orders taken all while we were trying to get someones attention to take our order. Long story short...did not enjoy. We tried all the other places except for Ole as there was too much pork on the menu. out of all of them the only one we liked with "culinarium" the food was better than the rest however I caution it appears that all the food was pre-cooked and waiting to be plated. I assume that because the first time there I ordered the steak medium rare and it pretty much came rare and cold. It was obvious it was previously cooked as the outside was not warm from a grill. I went back a second time and changed my order to medium hoping it would come med rare...once again it came as rare. I will be honest...my biggest concern of the resort is the food. the beach was great...lots of pools and more bars then you can shake a stick at. The only other thing I thought was not great...in the sports bar you have to pay to use the pool tables. WTH! The resort had an interesting mix of young and old. The pool bar by the waterslides seem to be the place for the younger folks to party. It is great people watching for sure and as drunk and loud as they got they were all very respectful.

Best resort experience ever!!!

This hotel was amazing from the moment we landed until the moment we left, the food was amazing and the staff was even better, we were greeted at the entrance of the resort with drinks. Everyone spoke English very well. The whole resort was very clean, there was always someone cleaning or painting. The entertainment was great and there was tons of activities for all ages! Riu republica was amazing, I would highly recommend this resort to anyone!!!

All around great

Stayed a week at riu republica and it was a great vacation. Food was pretty good. There’s something for everyone. No reservations make it great for the specialty restaurants. Staff was great. The activities were pretty much endless. Beach is great. All around great vacation

Excellent resort

This resort was beautiful, a lot of food selection which taste really good. Staff was really friendly and hard workering. Only thing I didn’t like was the music at the club on resort. Played the same music every night and selection wasn’t really great. Also they need to have music playing at each bar where people have drinks. Some had no music? Two had music to put someone to sleep. Grounds were very nice, Good drinks and rooms weren’t bad either minus the musty smell. Fantastic resort

Rooms were clean and modern. Food was great and awesome selections including Italian, Spanish, Steakhouse, Asian and Indian. No need to reserve and did not have to wait long to get into any of the restaurants The staff were very friendly and accommodating The adult waterpark was tones of fun !:)))) Lots of activities to keep you moving and fun beach and theme parties

Overall very good resort

Very clean / a lot of variety to choose from at the buffets / would be nice to have an eating area/bar closer to the beach / staff is friendly / lots of activities if you want to participate / night entertainment is "ok"

Highly recommend!!!

Booked this hotel last minute with recommendation from the rep at Trip Central. I was sceptical because I usually book smaller resorts, I will definitely be returning to Rui Republica. Everything about this resort made my vacation great. Although it is larger it is layed out very well and no problems navigating the grounds. Restaurants were all wonder, although the best steak was not at the Steak House but at the Spanish restaurant. No reservations were required and we never waited longer than 2 [... read more]0 minutes for a table. We could wait in one of the many bars with a pager to notify you when the table was ready. Pools were many and varied from the party pool to quiet relaxing. Did not have to reserve chairs once by the pool. Lots of choice either in the sun or under a shade canopy. The beach was busy and harder to secure a shade spot but not impossible if you arrived early. The rooms were clean and comfortable, both of which are a deal breaker from my relaxation. Definitely will be returning.
