Beautiful resort BUT go for the premium plus package

We booked expecting a premium package but were quite surprised when we had arrived and were endlessly turned away from buffets, denied drink request, asked to move to a different part of the beach (literally 6 feet away), were refused service at the cafe, and actually stopped on the trolley commuting from one lobby to another because we were wearing the dreaded “green bracelet”... it took two full days to find out the can’s and can nots of this resort. But... the resort is grand and gorgeous, clean, well maintained... very beautiful! The beach is beautiful, the ala’ carts fantastic, sports bar is a great addition, poolside entertainment is fun. The language barrier is strong so communication was difficult. I would go back to this resort but only with a better package... the difference in the food is huge and the cheap Dominican alcohol gave me heartburn for a week. I assume the premium package would give me these extras and hopefully a more comfortable bed. Because of the recent changes to the resort if given the option we would have upgrade to a higher package.

Good Adult resort

Rooms were fantastic, clean and big with great air conditioning. Lobby area was nice with great bartenders, but the area should be better ventilated with fans as its quite hot at times. Love the covered outside lobby area for ambiance and smokers and entertainment. FOOD: Buffet has a great variety of food, but as with most buffets nothing is hot. Service in buffets was [... read more] great for being seated but lacked for drinks, water or coffee unless you pre-tipped or had a relationship with the server which never happened for us. Ala cartes were hit and miss, the Japanese is great both for the show or ala carte, and were heard Mashua Nikkei was good as well as the Brazilian, but as Aquamarine quests you are not allowed to go to the Brazilian now. MEAT was a nice spot, but ALL our food was luke warm to cold, even the Rib eye steak. The Sports bar had great HOT food, wings, mozzarella sticks, burgers and fries among other things. Its only open 4-12pm and I think it should be open for lunch too as there are NO ala carte options for lunch which I found disappointing. I like to be able to sit by the beach in a restaurant and order food, there was not even a snack bar with just pizza and burgers for that and the Aquamarine guests cannot even use the Beach grill as its only for the Luxury Bahia guests. Big separation there, we are only allowed to use the beach there and the buffet down there which I found poor. We got to all go to the Beach Grill once and it was HOT food and was amazing, we all (20 in our group) noticed how amazing it was comparably. We also heard from many returning guests that the food and service has gone down alot since November 1st which is truly unfortunate. Entertainment: The pool side staff is amazing and so are the bartenders and towel staff!!! Loved Willy, Marcus, Rosa and Stefanie. They are also by the outside lobby to dance with you later on in the evening when there is Live entertainment from 7-9pm every night. Then there are great shows, silent discos, Karaoke, and couples fun, so really you never have to go to the Village stage, or Theatre to see anything unless you want to see Michael Jackson which we heard was great. Seen it before. BEACH- Its a nice beach, apparently the sand was whiter 5 years ago. There are ALOT of chairs, its like a city of chairs but the resort is large. Lots of seaweed coming in, they clean the beach very well but its all over you jumping in the waves too which is something I have not experienced before and is rather gross. Plus there are lots of mosquito's, and not thinking they are all at the beach as my husbands lower legs were covered in bites and we had not seen the beach yet. As a whole we did have fun, I would give this hotel at 8 out of 10 since its the DR and I expect less. If you want to go drink and relax and don't mind a LARGE hotel and taking a Tram to the beach or walking 10 minutes then I would say yes go. Personally I like to look at the beach via the pool area, or have it close by for morning walks, and found it just a bit too inconvenient. So I would not go back for those reasons. Also my husband and 4 others in our party all got quite sick while there.

Great resort

large beautiful resort. Caribbean village needs a better variety of shops. White parties are fun. Restaurants are beautifully decorated very up to date. All details even in the corridors with the rought iron is lovely and high end. The rooms are large and cozy. Bathroom is awesome, love the jacuzzi tub after being in the pool and on the beach.

Good resort.

First appearance stays with you. The lobby very lovely and clean. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The bugs were present and I ended up with a miserable vacation. The staff were sympathic. Couple of things was an noisy air conditioner which they tried to fix but didn't last. The entertainment at pool side etc were not super friendly but we are all different. So you decide.

Adults only

The resort at Ambar Green or now Aquamarine has some very friendly and helpful staff. We ran into some problems but they were always trying to correct them. Some they could correct easily like making sure our water and chips were brought to room each day. Also when we arrived they did not have a room with two beds for us so we had to stay the first night in a king room then move the next day. I was very disappointed in the fact that the only place adults only could eat breakfast or lunch was the buffet. The beach buffet had kids there too and we were turned off eating there because kids were touching food etc. there was a section right beside it that we thought was for us in adult only Ambar but were told it was only for PRIVILEDGE guests. Very annoying. We paid more for adults only for a reason. So, after that we had to come back to the main buffet for lunch when we went to the beach. Although most of the a la carte restaurants are in the family sections the Brazillian at the Esmarelda was awesome, we went there twice, not many children were eating in there either. The only issue we had with going to other areas for dinner was getting timely transportation back. After the second time waiting 20 minutes and asking several people to get us a ride we learned on the third time to ask our driver from Ambar who took us and he gave us his cell number to call when we were done. Also very frustrating was the free gift offer they leave in the room saying to get gift in lobby and enter a draw too. Well, that is BS because you don’t get the free gift or the chance to enter the draw unless you do a tour of Fantasia. That is wrong and not only that the badgering you get from the guy even after saying no several times is unacceptable. We were frustrated enough after ruining our oft whole ay waiting to get another room, didn’t need more time wasted. The pool was big and hardly ever many people at it, always empty chairs all around so you never had to search for chairs any time of day. Maria in buffet is the best, always happy and making sure we were too. They should clone her. We only ate dinner there the first night and did a la carte all the others so can’t say much about what the dinners there are like. The breakfast and lunches were good but often lacked in potatoes and rice options. I already mentioned the Brazillian being the best. The Asian at Esmarelda was also good. Tex mex was good once inside but the greeters at the outside turned us off from ever going there again. They stood there chatting with two young girls in bikinis instead of making a drink outside for guests. Also the bench was full of sand where the two girls sat and when I went to sit there I told the guy, he ignored it so we stood until they let us inside. Since customer service phoned us everyday to ask we advised them of all we thought was not good. The manager Smiley then called us for further details. Sony, one of the customer service guys arranged for us to get a reservation at Brazillian and cancelled our last night reservation for Tex mex when we told him about that experience.

Amazing Resort with top quality service.

This was my 3 rd visit to this resort and it didn't disappoint. There was a little damper on our trip as my friend had an accident in the ocean but the care and attention given to him was amazing. Special thanks to Athanasios, the butler( although he was not our butler he took care of us from making sure my friend had enough pillows to prop his arm on to all the pep talks), Michael the relations manager who would never pass us from the day of the accident to our last day without taking the ti [... read more]me to give me a hug and find out if we are ok, Hector at the Amber Green reception lobby was very kind and efficient in answering all our questions and taking care of our needs. All in all everyone from the lady cleaning the room (whose name I didn't get) to all the workers on the facility were great. The beauty and the cleanliness of the resort was there but the service provided makes it a 5 star resort. I have nothing negative to say about this resort based on my experience. Thank you Maria from Tripcentral for helping me with the booking as it was last minute and I was not able to do it on line as I have done in the past.

Absoluely amazing resort

The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Yolisa in the buffet and Albert and Carlos on the pool bar. Rooms were clean, and the butler service offered more than you could use.

Fabulous resort

Everything was perfect. The staff were excellent! We found all the employees to be professional, helpful and genuinely friendly. The rooms, common areas and grounds were spotless at all times. They went all out for my birthday and made it unbelievably memorable.

Ive been twice this year 😬

My brother travels a lot and has been to Ambar green many times and finally convinced me to go in February 2018.... loved it so much we went back this August. The staff is wonderful the grounds are beautiful and the excursions are fantastic. I really have zero complaints and would recommend this resort for anyone looking to meet fabulous people at a luxury resort... with no kids. 🤟

Wonderful Resort - Very Luxurious

The resort was amazing. Rooms were very spacious. Clean. Bathrooms were clean and fresh towels daily. The grounds were immaculate. You saw workers everyday keeping the place beautiful. Pools were great. Never any issues with finding a chair although people reserve the chairs very early in the morning. This happens at every resort. 3 pools separated by bridges. The louder pool is always busy as thats the one with the swim up bar. Entertainment at the pool daily which was a nice  [... read more]touch. Great to watch! Nightly entertainment was great - started at 9pm. The entertainment staff really try to engage the visitors, a lot. One criticism, lots of smokers around which is ok. The hotel should think about sectioning off smoking and non-smoking sections outside as sometimes the amount of smoke really took away from enjoying the entertainment. Construction at the blue section is not noticeable at all! only when you take the golf cart to the beach then you see it otherwise you don't see or hear anything at all. Really fabulous resort. Beyond our expectations. We will definitely go back next year and looking forward to seeing the Ambar Blue sectiton fully renovated.

Great service and clean resort

Great food and great service. Resort was clean and room was spacious. It's nice that they have internet access throughout the compunds. Food was good too, with the exception of one of the Japanese restaurant (we only tried that one). It's just not authentic enough for us. The buffet restaurant is great, and they apparently have a different theme every night, which we didn't know, but wish we had. So do check that out before booking the other a la carte restauarants. The beach was a little disapp [... read more]ointing as there were seaweed on the shore every morning, but that was apparently due to hurricane Beryl? Otherwise the sand is nice and white and soft. All in all, a great resort.

Decadence Encapsulated...

If you have never explored the notion of a resort on the Island nation of the Dominican Republic I strong suggest you consider Punta Cana. Once you narrow down your choices this resort should be in your sites because it is a dream. The quality of food, the hospitality, the courteous demeanor of the staff, and the willingness to work out details are stupendous. The day time activities are great as well as the night time entertainment. I stayed in Amber Green BUT that didn't limit my adventu [... read more]re as I checked out each area. I learned a little about the culture of people that live in the DR and that prompted me to explore a little outside of the comfort of the walled city. I was not nervous about my safety and I appreciated the reality of my discoveries. Check it out and I hope you will be as surprised as I was.

Fourth visit!

We visited for a fourth time from June 2-9 2018. Even though the resort is under construction, we still had an enjoyable time. Food is always great and service was actually better than two previous years. Just a bit disappointed that we received no "special" welcome back mention. Will definelty go back once construction is complete.

Wonderful vacation!

The grounds were beautiful! The rooms were very nice. Had some difficulty communicating with some employees since they are not all bilingual. Room service was a 45 minute wait which was the only way to get ice delivered to our room. Therefore, we went to the reception desk & picked it up there. We were extremely happy that we booked the "Adults Only" resort within the complex. Food was excellent at most restaurants & buffets. We went Sunday - Sunday & met "Carlo Mercedes", the overall Manager [... read more] of our resort, on Wednesday. He was fantastic & made our holiday great. We wish we had met him on Sunday. I encourage anyone going to ask to meet him when they arrive in order to have a great support person if you need one!!!

The best resort ever

The words can't explain the great experience we had at the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Green the food the people everthing was perfect on this trip i strongly recommend for anyone to go there for it will be a trip you wont regret we will be bavk for my wifes birtgday in November

Amazing Resort!!!!

My husband and I stayed at this resort from June 23rd to June 30th, 2018. It was an amazing trip!! I booked my trip with O’neil Graham @ tripcentral I was kind of hesitant I was looking at two options but with the advice I got from him trust me he was a 100% correct that I would love it!!! The hotel staff are very courteous and professional. The buffet was delicious everyday there was a wide variety of food and had a different theme example: Americana, Italian, Dominican etc. The 24 hour snack bar had fresh food prepared throughout the night. I didn’t try the a la cartes. The evening shows were great. The pools were clean. The beach is a 2-3 minute trolley ride. Marlene the beach waitress was fantastic she always had our glasses topped up and knew what we wanted, Unfortunately two things that was uncontrollable due to Mother Nature. 1. It had a lot of seaweeds when I got there but they kept cleaning the beach all day before I left there were no more seaweeds left in the water, 2. It had a lot of mosquitoes every night the OFF spray and after BITE didn’t help. This was my second trip to DR and the first time staying at this hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel!!!! I’m ready to go back!!!!

Terrific time !

Great hospitality all around. You had what you wanted at ANY time. Thanks to all the nice people especially the maids. Room was immaculate day in and day out. The a la carte restaurants were pristine. People try so hard to please you at them.

Decent resort

In general we had a very decent vacation at Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Green. We have only positive impressions from the staff and all aspects of the stay but one thing of "force majeure" nature really undermined our positive overall assessment. Probably for many others the ocean and the beach are not the priority of vacation (every day we saw many vacationers lying next to the pool) but for us that is always the one of the top items on the list. And during our stay with that resort the mother  [... read more]nature spoiled significantly the attempts of the resort's staff to provide us with the best service: the ocean and shoreline were full of seaweed and the measures taken by resort's staff for cleaning were really insufficient. Certainly they need to focus more on the cleanness of the beach and to provide more resources for prompt shoreline cleaning and to do that in the night but not in the daylight in front of the guests. During our stay we had to lay in the long chairs looking at the beach with the wheel loader running from one end to another.

Ambar green is going under renovations and soon too be called the grand bahia catering to famalies not adults only, and the ambar blue is currently under extreme renovations for the purpose in catering to adults, honeymooners. The hotel is going too be called the ambar aquamarina.
