Sol Turquesa Beach: good value for the money.

Grounds and rooms were clean. many pools. Food was ok. Diamond extra was good for the service at the beach and later check out...but not good for checking in....waited over an hour with litle kids and it was 11 pm. Many people had problems with door cards not unlocking their doors ..

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Lovely Hotel

Just returned from a relaxing stay in Cuba where the weather was wonderful and the service at our hotel was exceptional! The grounds of the hotel are nicely laid out and quite beautiful. The only drawback was the location of the tennis court which was down a poorly maintained path. The pool area and beach views are amazing! The area for Paradisus Rio de Oro was somewhat rocky but afforded good snorkelling for those enthusiasts. A short walk further and the water was easier to enter. First day of [... read more] arrival chairs were hard to obtain as they were all reserved with towels on the beach and by the pool. From that day on there must have been fewer guests as we were always able to get chairs and even had a beautiful view over the ocean at times! We had a 2nd floor corner balcony room that was great although the bathroom was not one of the newer renovated ones. Beds were comfortable and the room always cleaned nicely. Wonderful staff at this resort. Enjoyed the a la carte restaurants very much. The open air buffet area is wonderful although their bird control needs to be improved! The decor is showing it's age and is in need of reviving. Considering everything together the entire resort is a place we would definitely return to.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: average resort

the resort was ok. beach area was far and lots of stairs. you needed to shuttle around resort . the staff was great but service was slow. we upgraded to royal service and not everything was done as advertised. no welcome drink no daily bar in room had to call everytime you needed something. Butler was only avalaible if called. the paradisus in varadero was much better

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great fun... beyond all expectations

Huge variety of excellent food in 8 different restaurants; gorgeous spotless multilevel room with glassed in shower, chaise lounge and balcony overlooking pristine grounds; 24 hour room and shuttle service; beautiful private beaches and swimming pools who serve the best Mojito's. You can just relax, or participate in organised activities with friendly staff; Spa treatments are amazing... I recommend the Rum-rub massage. Best vacation ever!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Spectacular adult resort...

Pure class. Room was beautifully renovated, immaculate grounds, service beyond expectations, excellent food and wide variety of fare in the 8 restaurants... eat lobster every day if you wish, phenomenal spa treatments, private pristine beaches, top notch evening entertainment. Met wonderful people from all over the world. It was my second time, and I will be returning soon. General Manager Jean-Marc Rousseau and staff have created an atmosphere that is 5 star all the way !!!

Sol Turquesa Beach: Beautiful Resort

Great resort with lots of entertainment! Very friendly staff. Food was a bit repetitive, but was good. Lots of stairs, so not great for anyone with mobility issues. Our room was spacious and very clean, and we always had fresh towels. Beach is not huge, but was nice. Private and only the Memories resort was on it. Kids club was great, they had their own pools and tons of activities going on each day. Overall it was a great resort, and we would definitely return.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Relaxing vacation

My first trip to Cuba, beach is beautiful has some coral so bring water shoes. Free scuba diving and snorkeling included in your resort stay. Rooms were very clean and all new modern washrooms. Second floor has wrap around balconies . Resort may be older however the grounds are being updated with new plants and very well kept. Food - buffet provides a wide selection of food , everything from salad bar , grilled fish, steak , chicken etc. Pool restaurant was excellent. The a la cartes were also v [... read more]ery good. Pool is very well kept , entertainment every day. If you are going for a relaxing vacation this is the place to choose. Did not book the Royal Service too expensive for my pocketbook.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Worst resort and experience I have ever encountered

Club Amigo Atlantico in Guardalavaca is the worst resort I have ever been to. The food was horrible, the premises were very run down, the rooms were bad, no bottled water for drinking, no hot water for showers, there were sand fleas on the beach, and now I have welts all over my legs. The trip home was even worse. We flew from London Ontario to North Bay Ontario, and we could not land because of fog. Why wouldn't London notify North Bay about the weather conditions before taking off? We cir [... read more]cled the airport for an hour, then went back to Toronto. It was midnight at this time. I thought for sure we would be put up in a hotel room and fly out in the morning. But, we had to wait until 1:00 a.m. for a bus to come and drive us 4 hours to North Bay. We were exhausted, could not sleep, the weather was brutal, freezing rain, the bus had only one head light, was sliding around the road, I was afraid for my life actually. Got to North Bay at 5:00 a.m. We started a journey back to Canada at 10:00 a.m. the previous day. It took us 19 hours to return home. Unacceptable. I will never go to Cuba again, or will never fly Sunwing again. We had to pay to upgrade our room in Cuba and we also paid to upgrade our seats on the plane and then had to take a bus. Unbelievable.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Nice resort!

We recently spent a week in the Royal Service area. This is a lovely area of the resort however it is isolated at the top of a hill that is very quiet with little to no entertainment or music. If that is what you are looking for then it will be perfect for you. We did not like the long winding walk up the hill to the area and the stairs down to the beach. The stairs were uneven and made the trek a bit difficult. Lobster at every restaurant. Al la cartes were all nice. There is one restaurant in RS area the rest are all at the main resort. The rooms are nice and spacious. In the RS area you have an outdoor shower, very neat idea. The service staff are all kind and do what they can for you no matter where you stayed. If we returned we would probably stay in the main area of the resort as it was about $1000 per person more and felt we always needed to travel down the hill to do things. For us it was not worth the extra money.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful location and scenery!

While we stayed in the most economical rooms, they were always clean. Not overly large or fancy, but we were only there to sleep and shower. Food exceeded my expectations from a prior trip to Cuba at a different place. The a la cartes were very good quality. Lots of activities included in the price. Loved the choices and options for swimming, eating and drinking. The staff everywhere on the resort were extremely fun and friendly. Best bang for your buck!

Playa Pesquero: Amazing experience each time

So far, I have been at this hotel eight times. The service and people there are absolutely amazing. The food is great compared to other places in Cuba. Planing to go back two more times this year. This hotel truly values its return customers and will go to any extent to make you feel as if this is your second home. Clean, safe, anything you wish to have with a smile. Sol Turquesa Beach: Average Cuban resort

Beach is below average for seaweed. Shallow coastal waters make it good for beginner windsiurfers. Boards are not bad, most of sales are warn down. Buildings are in good shape, the cascaded pool system is unique. Many stairs and big distances. Sport amenities are too remote, thus hardly used by anyone and no attention paid for basic maintenance. Room was not too bad. Firm mattraces. NO INSECTS or LIZARDS in room!. Many bedbugs though and some mini mosquitos. Bring bug sprays + bug repellen [... read more]t or might be eaten up alive...and spray mattraces every day. Washroom is nice, there was always warm water when needed. AC worked well but hair dryer and coffe machine have never. No repair on 2x reporting... Entertainment at pools and on the beach -- pretty average with uninterested animators.Plenty of live music (piano, clarinet solist,etc) around the main lobby but no authentic cuban/latin folk bands. Food was not bad at the buffet, 80â„… the same selection full week. Wifi is for hourly fee--never tried. Bank for currency exchange at site. Overall it was not bad for the price $950/pers.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Cuba Bound ? A Must

A very pleasant and unexpected experience. Except for 1 day of rain which no one can control it was a great relaxing and fun event . First experience at an all inclusive and it is definetely the way to go . Cannot say enough about all the staff- even the grounds crew- everyone is well trained in customer service- they know their clientele

Playa Pesquero: Nice resort

We were there the first year it opened 14 years ago...big difference now..it has aged..especially interiors of rooms..grounds nice..public beach washrooms horrible..food ok very repetitive..alacarte restaurants were excellent..service people not as friendly as I remember when first opened

Brisas Covarrubias: Fantastic quiet resort

This was our 10th trip to Cuba, every trip to a different resort. If you are looking for a quiet, off the beaten path resort with fantastic staff, good food, great beach, ample snorkelling and SCUBA then this is the place for you. It is a bit further from the airport, 2 hours or so one way. This seems to turn a few people off the resort but if you seek relaxation this is the place to be. There is nightly entertainment on the open air stage next to the 24 hour snack bar/pool bar, a mini club  [... read more]for the kids, bicycles to rent, the standard but downsized entertainment you will find on any Cuban resort. The smaller size of the 180 room resort somewhat limit the entertainment side. If you are the sort of person who requires a slick Broadway production every evening then perhaps Broadway is where you should go. One buffet, one a la carte, 3 bars (one a 24 hour with the best ham and cheese sandwiches on earth), a disco and a nautical center are the main attractions. The buffet food is good. Not just Cuba good but the best we have found at any Cuban resort. And the a la carte is even better! I don't know if it is because it's a smaller resort so food prep is easier managed but it's very good. You won't lose any weight coming here. The rooms show their 18 years of age but they are clean and comfortable with air conditioning that will freeze you out of the room. I read many negative reviews about electricity and water in the rooms. There is zero issue with either. The power went out once for an hour, likely due to the high winds that afternoon. The water is plentiful, very good pressure and will burn the skin off you if you're not careful. There were never any shortages of hot water or water pressure, even at peak times. We are beach bums so not a lot of time was spent in the pool but it was clean. Meticulously clean, in fantastic repair and comfortably warm. I'd say a pretty good pool if you're so inclined. But with the beach they have the pool is a distant second best. Probably 40 or so meters wide and over a kilometre long it would easily serve another resort or two but it's all yours. The only comparable beach in Cuba is Playa Pilar. The water is shallow for quite a ways, 100 meters and it's finally to your waist. Just beyond that the reef is found, great swimming and snorkelling there. If snorkelling and diving are your thing the nautical center is front and center on the beach. They offer all sorts of water sports, snorkel, fishing, boat tours and SCUBA, including lessons, open water certification courses and night dives, all at very reasonable prices. Of all the resorts we have been to in Cuba this is the first one we will go back to. I'm not saying it's the best for everyone but if you want a simple, laid back vacation with good food and great people this is the place to find it.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: We Enjoyed It

Well I think I'll tell you about the good first. The beach was really nice, snorkelling was amazing, The food was fine I always found something I liked ( It is Cuba you have to remember). If I returned to that resort I would stay in the Plus side for sure. The rooms where not great. Staff was nice ...not fancy at all but if you are looking for a nice beach a few good drinks and some fun. I think this place will work for you. The highlight for me was the beach

Playa Costa Verde: Playa Coste Verde

We have been to this resort 6 times now which I think says a lot right there. The biggest thing that keeps us coming back is the people. They are so friendly and in my opinion genuine. (not just doing it for tips). The beach is good, snorkeling just out front which we like to do, lots of fish to see. This year we noticed that they have removed the clocks and coffee makers from the rooms. Also the beds could use an update. Not a deal breaker but some negatives. Sol Turquesa Beach: Very enjoyable Resort!

My stay at this resort was indeed memorable! Very well run resort, clean, attentive staff, consistent quality of food. Very large property so never felt like it was crowded and beach was great. I would definitely return.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: It was fun

Good place to go as students! Very cheap, good service; roms were not the best but ok.. I would recomend to go if you are on a budget or do not want to spend to much for your vaccation. Bring a few extra $$ for gifts or other stuff

Brisas Covarrubias: Well...

I travelled alone. The Nightly entertainment was basically a band or singer every night & quite boring. The Wi-Fi was not available for 3 days. Electricity kept failing for periods at a time. The resort is a long 2 hours away from the airport (via small town roads where you had to stop often to pass horse & buggies carrying locals - Time warp!)... On the Plus side... The beach is beautiful & the hotel grounds are well maintained.
