Memories Paraiso: Decent resort with a beautiful beach
The hotel is a little run down and needs a lot of maintenance and upgrades. The fountains were filthy, the chairs in the restaurants and lobby were all stained. The matresses were old and springy and the room was so humid that everything always felt damp. Our room phone didn't work for our entire stay and our faucets were loose and leaking. The staff was amazing though and the food was really good.

Resonance Blu Varadero: 10th visit: another relaxing time
Everything was clean including the rooms. However, they need to sweep away the pebbles off the pathways connecting the apartment buildings with a sweeping machine. That's my only negative criticism if you can call it one.
Please go to the Japanese restaurant. The food is excellent. Please ask for Mario or Alberto to cook for you. They provide a nice presentation.
Other than that, the services and amenities were excellent. Kudos to Ada, the resort Director, for another lovely stay.[... read more] Looking forward to my next visit.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Review On Memories Varadero
I thought that the resort was very beautiful such as the beach, layout of the amentias. However, the services such as towel, food and waiting in big line ups after being in "Diamond Club" was not up to it's standards. Me and my friends were actually very disappointed with the services. I felt that the resort was very big which was nice, but there wasn't enough staffing or some of the staff where not as friendly. I believe that it was to much for them to handle. The question is would I go back to[... read more] this resort again. A big fat NOOOOOOO. My girlfriends and I did enjoy our vacation as we spend many days/nights off the resort to make our trip memorable.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Nice stay
Hello,
our trip was very nice. As usual staff at the resort were very nice, pleasant, funny and with good English (reception desk especially). Food was amazing and the staff at the buffet restoran was exceptional.
Room was very clean and air conditioning worked great. Gardens around hotel are really nice and well kept. The beach is amazing, the guys who make pizza there are so nice and hard working. Little guy who cleans the beach is so cute and also hard working.

Memories Grand Bahama: Very disappointing on so MANY levels!!!!
Where do I start. Room not ready until around 4:00 p.m. got to hotel around 10:30 am.Toilet roll holder broken, toilet paper laying on the floor, clothes line in shower broken laying bathtub. The sliding door to the plunge pool so warped that I could not open it. Huge puddle of water on the ground dripping down from the 2nd and 3rd floor balconies. The stairs to plunge pool slippery and soaking wet as were the chairs from the dripping water from above. Maid service horrible had to ask for han[... read more]d and bath towels almost every day as I was told they were not ready yet whatever that means. After many calls to front desk still waited one nite until 10:00 p.m. Rooms not vacuumed and did a really poor job cleaning the bathrooms. Two mornings no water in plunge pool. I had called customer service on the Saturday when we arrived with all my complaints and took until Tuesday for them to finally move us to another room. Had maintenance men in trying to fix door, fix broken bathroom items, pool people, maids for towels or lack there of, had to call about fridge being replenished on more than one occasion. I think I spoke to the front desk or customer service almost everyday with a complaint and on most occasions no one even answered the phone. Really not a relaxing holiday with spending all my time trying to get things fixed.
Front desk staff not helpful at all and in fact were very rude to me upon checkout. As we had purchased something in the Gift Shop a child's goggles (as my niece's goggles were taken from the pool bar while we were sitting there) and discovered they were the wrong size took them back to exchange and was told had to wait till manager came, I explained that I was leaving at 7:00 a.m. next morning, the lady asked for my room number and name and she told me that the money would be in an envelope for me in the morning when I checked out. When I enquired at check out was told no envelope for me, explained situation and was told "Too bad, can't help you", asked for manager told the whole story and he told me to wait that the store would open soon and to wait, was catching the bus at 7:10 so I told him we could not wait. Took my home address, email, phone number and still a month later have had NO reimbursement or any communication from the manager from the Memoires Grand Bahama Beach Resort.
Worst holiday ever........... needed a vacation from my vacation.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Average hotel
Hotel was average..pool had lots of broken tile..pool cleaner threw chlorine in the pool while it was still occupied. Had cockroach in our room. Pillows were flat. Only the seafood a la carte was air conditioned. Front desk staff was rude, especially on check out, she told another guest that she has to pay $10 CUC for face cloth that was missing from room..she threatened to call immigration on guest because she refused to pay. They actually searched her luggage...unbelievable. I love Cuba and n[... read more]ever complained before..this is the first time..Beach was full of seaweed..had 2 Cubans in water with weed remover and plastic bin to collect removed seaweed..Resort is huge so be prepared to walk alot..lots of stairs. Made the best of the vacation..I would not return to this resort. 1 CUC is equivalent to $1.37 Canadian. Need more selection at buffet.

Sol Turquesa Beach: A resort you will never forget
I can guarantee you that any individual that stays at this resort will not forget their experience. By this I mean that you will remember NOT to return to this resort in your future travels. Firstly, this is not a 4 star resort. It is a 3 at best, given the lack of maintenance on the simple things such as toilet seats in the women's washroom in both the lobby and snack bar area. Our check-in took about 20 minutes despite 4 people at the front desk where 3 managers on duty stood around watching t[... read more]he new guests become inpatient. After some questioning as to why it was taking so long by the patrons, the managers finally decided to step in and put bracelets on everyone... not that this sped up the check-in process better. The front desk hostess did not direct us to wait for the golf carts in front of the lobby - in fact, she failed to inform us that to wheel our luggage through the resort would be a chaotic mess of stairs and paths. Sadly, we found this out by another guest who quickly came to our assistance and said "do not walk any further, it's only stairs from here on out and will be a mess to carry the luggage down - let alone if we even find our room. They say the food is "okay" but the selection of food was usually a miss: it either tasted plain as paper or unappetizing - my pancakes tasted sour, the crab cakes tasted like foam. At the buffet, breakfast, lunch and dinner offered a variety of fruits and sweets that were grazed by fruit flies, the ice cream had no sneeze guard. At the 24 hour snack bar you had an option of undercooked cheese pizzas or steamed fries (that's if they were even available). When we made a reservation at the a la carte for the seafood restaurant, the name of the restaurant was not found on the hotel's welcome map. When we asked front desk, he directed us to a different restaurant name to which we found and waited for about 10 minutes until we asked the snack bar server (located next door) that we had reservations. He directed us to a different restaurant located on the other side of the bend - apparently this particular restaurant, 'romantico' served as the seafood AND romantic restaurant (but no one seemed to want to inform the guests this during the actual reservation OR at front desk). The best thing about the resort was the pool area and beach: clean, lots of chair space, the aqua bar was efficient with 'national championship bartender' which were the few of the staff that were eager to serve and make sure you had a good time. Despite the vast amounts of algae, waters were clear and an absolute dream for snorkelling. The staff was a hit or miss, you either met people who loved to help or rolled their eyes at you and snicker. In the four days that we stayed at the resort, we had our towels decorated only on the first and last day (which I assume was only mandatory per hotel rules) since our friends in another room received beautifully crafted towel sculptures every day of their stay. On the last two days, our garbage bins would be emptied but were not lined with plastic bags.
The only reason this resort is advertised as a 4 star is because on your first night there is a representative "that doesn't work at the hotel" she says, who goes around requesting a completion of surveys of the resort and its services. Despite not having experienced or seen most of the services, you are asked to complete them and offer suggestions while she stands next to you. Overall, it was a decent experience but definitely not worth a return trip. The food was plain, the resort was boring for attractions/activities and the staff were mediocre.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Memories Holguin
There were large roaches everywhere including near the pool and in my room. My room and bathroom were decent enough. The buffet food was okay, the a la carte was better. The ocean has a lot of seaweed. Beach was not crowded, which was nice. The staff at the resort are friendly.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Resort!
The resort is close to the airport, located on beautiful beaches and sun! The report is smaller so walking around it is easy. The resorts is clean and well kept! An older plane flys over every morning to treat the property for mosquitoes, which definitely helped! The food is Cuban food with a Canadian Charm. Bring your Heinz ketchup for the kiddies! The a la Cartes are great, book them when you get there. Bar's are plentyfull. Games are plenty throughout the day and night. This place has great a[... read more]mazing entertainment staff for day and night. And the kids program is beyond useful and could say many amazing things about Aries and Lulay. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Desperately needs more palapa shades!
The rooms were standard. The beach was great! This resort needs a major investment in umbrella shades by the pool and at the beach. There is literally no shade to hide under from the blistering sun. Customer service needs major improvement as requests seemed to get passed on from one employee to the next without ever being resolved. I requested a new bed mattress and never received one. I had to make do with a bed that could break the back of an elderly person. Reception seemed incapable of sim[... read more]ple requests in the morning to order a taxi for the evening. The people who did do their jobs such as the gardeners, the pizza makers, the bar tenders and the wait staff in the dining hall were exemplary. The food was repetitive and generally unpalatable with the exception of pizza at the beach which was great! The grounds of this resort was well tended and lush. It is the most attractive part of this resort.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great getaway!
Memories Caribe was a really great first Cuban trip! The hotel was clean, rooms were large, and the staff was so nice. The service we received made us feel special as they were all friendly and accommodating. The food was okay but the fantastic wait staff made everything better. When we left, they played their music for us, gave us drinks and waved good-bye as the bus drove off. When we picked up other travellers from the neighbouring resorts, we didn't see their staff doing that for their gue[... read more]sts leaving. Grand Memories Varadero: Nice place but not 4.3 stars.
Had a problem with my room. (Cockroaches), when presented the problem to the front desk it was met by a "sorry we are too busy to help you and there are no other rooms available." The public relations lady was also going around trying to tell me that she had to talk to her boss who was on an endless meeting. Another public relations rep. Resonance Blu Varadero: Very Disappointing Hotel
Food:
There are two buffets open. One in the main lobby for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hours for lunch are very limited. And one on the beach only open for lunch with limited selection. Overall food is bland and nothing special. Lots of flies. The best food was the Japanese restaurant. Although, very hot because the air conditioning was broken. The female washroom was out of order so had to use the mens. There are snack bars which only offer hamburgers. Offered hotdogs only once during the [... read more]week we were there.
Beach:
Very nice beach area and ocean. They did do some activities but none that we participated in. Others seemed to be having a nice time though. You get one beach towel and if it's lost you owe 15 CUC. You can exchange your towel at the pool hut but I went several times and each time they didn't have any new towels. Nor did they know when they would be getting new ones.
Rooms:
We checked in when we arrived early morning and went to our rooms. We were a group of 15 and six rooms. Each room had no sheets on the beds and no towels in the bathrooms. We waited until 5 pm and still no linens. We asked to change rooms which we did after some complaining.
The rooms conditions were not great and in need of repair. The facets were rusty and covered in lime. The bed sheets have stains. The towels were always grey and had stains on them. No clock in the room either.
Staff:
The staff is overall very nice and the maids/bartenders seem to try very hard. The restaurant staff are indifferent and the reception staff aren't particularly helpful. No one ever knows anything and they say yes, sure no matter what you ask.
Entertainment:
The evening entertainment is very good. It is the best enterainment that we have seen in all inclusive resorts.
I was told that the hotel was under new management. It was much better before.

Resonance Blu Varadero: The Varadero Experience
As expected the food wasn't too great but we knew this going in what I did not expect was the horrifying state of the rooms. There were holes in the bathroom wall, mattress opened at the seams and it felt like sleeping directly on springs. The covers were stained and the same for pillowcases. Although there's much to say about the hotel itself the cleaning staff was fantastic and the beach was splendid. These redeeming features however did not make up the fact that the pools did not seemed to be[... read more] cleaned along with the fact that. hotel did not have clean beach towels for the entire duration of our trip.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: The resort that could......
There is a lot of potential for this resort.... but unfortunately missed on so many points. Everyone knows you dont go to Cuba for the food, but we actually found rocks in our food :( .
The roomed they booked us into had two beds.... even though we booked as a honeymoon package. They were painting in the rooms beside us, which made us sick and despite numerous requests to be moved - took 3 days to move us. Having said all that, the rooms were not clean, the beds were hard as stone..
We[... read more] were supposed to have a butler assigned to us as a part of our Diamond Club, Santuary booking - but they were largely absent and not helpful.
The water stopped working on one of the days, so toilets did not flush.
The washrooms on the grounds were appalling. Filthy dirty and NEVER any toilet paper..
What made up for it was the well made drinks, entertainment staff and well maintained pool.
This resort needs a serious look at overhauling the management, our experience could have been made a lot better if the staff was happy and didnt overlook details (like toilet paper in the washrooms!)
There are better options for a stay in Cuba that this resort.
