Breathless Montego Bay: Very High Tech, Modern Resort

This Breathless resort is very modern looking and very upscale. It has all of the amenities you would look for in a 5 star hotel. It has only been up and running for just 1 yr. First the room, it has modern upscale styling to it with the latest amenities. The room has power operated drapes and a power operated privacy screen, if you prefer, that covers the three sided glass shower that goes from floor to ceiling with two large rain head shower heads. Hot tub on the balcony. It has an array  [... read more]of modern subdued led lighting some in different colors. The in- room safe and fridge are hidden/blended in behind cabinetry that flows in the room. The only issue is the in room safe is just off of the floor which makes it a bit difficult to get at the things at the rear of the safe.You may have to get on your hands and knees to reach them. There is free wifi throughout the resort with a tablet in your room for your use. A 65 inch TV is in the room as well. The beds are comfortable with which appears to have hybrid mattresses. The views are very nice. We stayed on the 4th floor of the 5 floor hotel. There is a 6th floor, (Roof) which has a bar, pool, hot tub and restaurant on it. The best views can be had from the 5 th floor which is for exhale club members and the 4th floor as well as some 3rd floor rooms. The first and second floor rooms are considered tropical views although all rooms face the pools and waterfront. The Breathless resort only has 150 rooms, which is a nice size. There are several pools. There is the main pool which is large and a smaller one between the large band shell structure which is where they have a foam party every day at 3.00-5.00 pm. This one is off limits and only used for the foam party. A hot tub beside the main pool is available. There is also a pool on the roof of the hotel with a hot tub as well as previously mentioned.The pool area is quiet during the daytime until the foam party starts up and then it become loud and the Tech music starts up. Guests from the Secret St James and Wild Orchid can join in the foam party which can get large at times. The restaurants on site are the Cuisine restaurant off the main lobby which is very good, which also has the breakfast buffet. The waiter we had was Mark. He was excellent and was eager to please and very dedicated and experienced. There was also the restaurant on the roof which served East Indian food at supper and Mediterranean food during lunch. Also there is a restaurant off the main pool called Fish Nets which had seafood. One night there is a special dinner there, called Chef's Surprise, that we were invited to at Fish Nets which included a 9 course meal. You don't know what you are going to get to eat. It was great food prepared by the chef. He explains everything during each course. If you are lucky enough to get invited to it, take advantage of the opportunity. Security is high here. You don't get in or out of the resort unless security sees you and asks your room number and where you are going etc. They are at the Skywalk entrance which is a covered bridge/walkway that joins the Breathless resort to the St James property. Security, also is all over the place watching. People at the Secrets locations with the Preferred designation can visit the complex at any time for meals etc., while the basic accommodations from the Secret property have to wait until 9.00 to visit. Breathless guests can access the Secrets property at any time for the beaches or the many restaurants on the Secrets' property. At the end of the St James Secrets Preferred property there is a Hard Rock Cafe for food and party atmosphere, if you choose, at your expense. Once again you have to go through Secrets security. Overall, very nice and very clean property. (They even scrub down the sidewalks every night.) It is about a 15-20 min drive from the airport. Breathless Montego Bay is a real 5 Star property, not a "supposed one". We have been to Breathless in Punta Cana and it doesn't measure up to this one. We have also been to Secrets St James MoBay 4 times as well. These properties in Montego Bay are very good as they are one of the best places we have been. We have been to many, many different properties all around the Caribbean and Mexico etc and this is our favorite one. That's why we have been coming back here this many times.

Riu Ocho Rios: Great Resort

Well worth the 90 minute drive to Ocho Rios. Resort was on a beautiful swimming beach, had great food, drinks, bartenders, servers, housekeeping staff, etc. Comfortable beds, room was big enough. No complaints!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: safe, fun.

The grounds and hotel are very clean. Our room 22515 was very nice and well kept for our week away. Feb 28th March 5th. This hotel is very large, use your map it helps. Book your special dinners right away, they fill up. The pool bars need more choice of drinks. The beach is small. The lunch at the beach is wonderful. This is a very nice hotel, we had a very good week.

JOIA Rose Hall by Iberostar: Very high class resort.

Room was amazing. Bathroom superb for 2 gals. Patio-huge. Butler/concierge service was spot on with quick turnaround time when you had a request. A la carte restaurants were good, but I would have not have minded the buffet every night unlike other resorts I have been to where I have been tired of the buffet food after 1 wk. Vegetables were cold at the buffet beginning of the week but improved. Service at the restaurants was great. Beach was fabulous, ocean floor sand, not rocks. Pool was fin [... read more]e. Lots of Cabana's at pool, but they were set up so you were either in the sun or the shade, and unable to move your lounge chair from sun to shade or vice versa. Only one complaint> We did not take in any of the evening entertainment as it did not start until 9:45 pm. When you eat early Supper, there is nothing to do in the evening.

Royalton Hideaway Blue Waters: A Royal Week of Relaxation

We had a wonderful vacation at the royalton white sands resort. The food was amazing! They had an amazing variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and for those who enjoy trying new dishes they had a great selection of Jamaican cuisine. They had 7 a la cartes restaurants to chose from. Staff were very attentive  [... read more]and made you feel welcome. They had a fantastic entertainment team. We had the opportunity to get to know Javare with the entertainment team. He was extremly outgoing and personable, definitely adding to the guest experience. Entertainment during the day includes trivia, hula hoop, dance lesson, karaoke etc. They also had an amazing fitness team. We took several of Jeffery’s classes. They did aqua fit , boot camp, sunrise yoga, sun set yoga, volley ball, Trx training, kick boxing etc. Lots to do during the day. They had a white clothing beach party on Monday night with a fire, s’mores and reggae music, everyone really enjoyed this event. We also really enjoyed the foam party at the adult pool which was on Friday. Water activities included paddle boards, kayaks, hobbie cats, masks and snorkels for guests to use. We splurged our last day and rented a pool cabana complete with our own infinity plunge pool, lcd tv, sound system and mini fridge. Cabanas come with butler service as well. Ours was Mr. Young. He was very professional, attentive, outgoing and a genuine asset to The Royalton. What a fantastic vacation! It would be difficult to find anything to complain about the Royalton white sands. Due to the rough sea at the time, the beach (White Sands side) was left a bit rocky and scattered with seaweed. The beach crew worked hard to clean up promptly. Beach venders are permitted to walk the waterline and could be a little over the top and pushy. If you can afford to spend a bit more I’d recommend staying on the Blue Waters side of the resort, it has newer rooms and you can use the beach chairs on the better beach side (no rocks and hardly any seaweed) . If you wait until you get there and decide you want to upgrade they want you to pay 200 additional per night per couple. Amazing vacation with amazing people. Thanks Royalton.

Hedonism II: Amazing

Renovations of the hotel were great , provided coolers of bottled water alone beach area . Very clean always had made service in all bathrooms . The entertainment staff put on amazing shows. Food was fantastic

Sandals Jamaica Dunn's River: Great Resort

The Hotel was very clean and well maintained. I found the service particularly friendly , prompt , and helpful . The attention to the grounds was on a daily basis and constant, so they was always clean and tidy . The food was varied and good.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Lovely time!

My husband and I were at the Grand Bahia Príncipe last week and had a great time overall. First the good... Lovely resort, well manicured gardens, very friendly front desk and staff all around, large clean room on the 1st floor with all amenities like bath robes, slippers, iron, hairdryer and usual toiletries. Good room service. Good a-la-carte restaurants. Conrad, our server at Don Pablo was excellent! We were given a room on the Luxury side of the hotel (block 23) which was quiet and away [... read more] from the main pool area. Now, the not so good....beach area is small for such a large resort and from where we were, quite a long ways away,no long walks on the beach, Piscis the beach restaurant is quite far to walk to for lunch or a snack if you are lounging on the west side of the beach, no wash rooms inside the main buffet area. Wonder what parents of little kids would do in an emergency! Food, while plenty, not enough variety for vegetarians. A vegetarian omelet will be cooked on the same grill as one with the meats, so if you are a staunch vegetarian (thankfully I am not) then this would not work for you. Instructions to operate safes in the rooms were incorrect and outdated. Lack of proper signage, the elevators are the slowest in the world so good luck if you have a room on the upper levels! Wi-fi in the Lobby (only area) was very spotty and connection was quite tedious. I didn't really care because I was on holiday..but felt sorry for the front desk staff who had to deal with disgruntled guests on a daily basis. Go without any expectations and you will have a good time!

SeaGarden Beach Resort: Comfortable, safe resort

We had a great time at the Sea Garden, the staff was friendly and quick to smile and make you feel at ease . The buildings and grounds were clean and well looked after. The food had a special flair all of its own, there was always something new to try, we especially enjoyed the dinner parties at the beach and the pool. We look forward to a return visit.

This Resort is Top Notch from the Views of of every room to the personal service they provide.The resort is in pristine condition at all times with there amazing and friendly staff that go above and beyond The food is definately a hit as well as the nightly entertainment Thumbs up and 5 star in our books

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: LOVE

I absolutely love this resort!!!! Loved the staff, they were willing to help and did so with a warm Jamaican smile. The food was delicious, varied every day with local dishes that were spiced just right. The rooms are very clean and update.

Hedonism II: Wonderful Place!!!!

My husband and I just returned from a 10-day stay at Hedonism II. Ten days was not enough. The place is beautifully clean. The food is terrific and abundant in choice. The beaches were raked and the grounds kept clean daily. The staff were terrific and always friendly. We love the entertainers....they are extremely talented and the shows are not to be missed. Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Great Value

The staff are super friendly and always helpful. The food is excellent mostly traditional Jamaican cuisine which I love. The beach is great. The pool is beautiful and really well maintained. The rooms are very nice as well.

Beachcomber Club: extremely friendly

If you appreciate Jamaican time you will love this place. The rooms were spacious and clean, washroom a little dated. Satellite TV was great if you were homesick for they had a lot of channels, Canada-CBC-City, USA-CNN, South America, Europe. All inclusive - well ahhh - food was limited to 2 mains(fish,chicken-fish,pork-fish-hamburger, and hot dogs), 1 veg, 2 starch, tossed salad, and cake. Jamaican time comes into effect on serving times. 30 to 45 minutes late. 7pm dinner started at 7:30  [... read more]or even 8pm. Same with breakfast and lunch. Limited bar on the all inclusive. Beach was clean, raked with plenty of lounge chairs. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: 3 Times a Charm

Seeing my old friend Eric Mclean from Eric’s Chillout Tours (876-790-3154) at the airport meant I was home again in Jamaica. Eric gives me and my wife a Red Stripe beer and on the road we go to the Iberostar in Montego Bay. Eric has been picking us up and taking us on excursions for more then 10 years. I ask him about the trouble and state of emergency, he says no problem man. I trust Eric he is a safe and knowledgeable driver. We went to town and saw or had no problem. We got smiles and drinks from a receptionist. My friend at the desk was Oralando who remembered us from last year. Then out comes the Desk Manager Andrae who got us the same room as last year. I like the room, with a big tub, double sinks, king size bed and full fridge. The view is as I remembered, beautiful. I had coffee and Bailys on the balcony ever day. When we checked into the room they gave us matching T-Shirts for returning. We also had a bottle of Premium Canadian Whiskey from a departing Manager Jonay, thanks. His replacement Andrew was so much like Jonay, work, work work. In our second week they gave us 2 more T shirts with my nickname Rasta Man on it. WOW. It was the windiest I ever saw. We where on the beach about 4 out of 14 days. The weather was very good. We found a nice spot with shade. I had fun everyday talking to the lifeguards Dick, Bruce, Norris, Youan and Sanjay. The resort no longer uses plastic straws for the ecology (which I support). They had paper straws that I did not like. We got 2 plastic straws (I can’t say from where) that we used for 2 weeks. We then made sure to dispose of them properly. Bring a couple of straws. We had great drinks every night. The staff like Christopher 1 and 2, Radane “Jellybean”, Glenroy, Shanike, Jules, Leighton, Melissa, Doreen (the hardest working waitress on the island), and Nicole made it fun. There one supervisor Kerry worked so hard picking up glasses, getting drinks and smiling. I told him he was the hardest working supervisor on the island. We got dressed up and ate at the buffet every night. I like sitting outside, hearing the ocean, seeing the palm trees. When we would go in, we would see the food presented like no where else. The islands best Chef’s Patrick, Isaiah and Jermaine would have the islands best food. I like shrimp, lobster, crab legs split, we had it all. We had lunch at the steakhouse because of how open it was. The cheese burgers we had could not be beaten. The service by, Alecia, Nadine, Clifford, Brandese, Renae, Gavin was top notch. The entertainment team was also very good with OMG, Peaches, Suzie, Carlos and Ki Ki. They talked to us every day on the beach. We came to relax and they understood why we played no games. The live music (from 7:30 to 9:30) in the coffee bar was good. They did not have entertainment all nights. The property was spotless and always being cleaned with workers likes Orlando who never stopped working or smiling. The beach was kept cleaned and raked every day. I had a lot of fun with the valets everyday. When my buddy Dale the valet came back from vacation we laughed and hugged like bros. I go to Jamaica because of the music and the people. We left the resort in the day time a few times and did not feel threatened. We met many who travelled like before, going to swim with dolfins, Rick’s Café, Dunn’s Falls and so on. Iberostar is “Don’t worry be happy”

Small resort but good in the middle of all the action would go back again the food was good and the rooms where clean booze was not good no name stuff tasted like crap need to improve staff was good location is the seller

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Fantastic!

My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Royal Decameron Cornwall. Pictures and videos online rarely if ever do the real life experience any justice, and it definitely held true this time around. The beach, rooms, food, staff service etc. all exceeded my expectations. Great trip.

Royalton Hideaway Negril: Great Resort

We had a wonderful stay at the Royalton Negril, was a little disappointed that when I indicated to both Sunwing and the Royalton that we had a Birthday and we where returning guests that nothing was even acknowledged after that. The room was beautiful we had the Presidential Suite. The bartenders where amazing. Bevan at the martini bar was very attentive and a pleasure to meet. The grounds are beautiful. Food was also very good, with Calypso being our favorite.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Adequate Resort

A vacation can never be bad when you are in Jamaica with good friends. That being said we will not return to this resort for a few reasons. The beach areas were too spread out and much too rocky. The hotel and grounds need some maintenance. The pool and beach washrooms are not cleaned or stocked well. The carpet in the hallways was disgusting and should be replace with tile. This may help keep down the cockroaches. The elevators had a most unpleasant smell, all the time. Bar staff in the main areas were excellent but the pool bar was very slow.
