Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Dirty Room/ beautiful water front & Good food
I , my husband & my daughter stayed in this hotel from march 31 to april 7, it was very disappointing bec they gave us room that is 1 bed only that accordingly, the 2 bedroom junior suite that i paid & booked was not available when we arrived! we've waited for 3 hours yet still my room wasn't available!the housekeeper did a good job on making blanket arts animal but poor in cleaning the room! the management should keep checking the rooms of the hotel to make it sure that its always clean! they s[... read more]houkd implement thorough cleanliness of the rooms. bathroom floor & sink are filthy! they should do dusting, mapping the floor & wash the sink & the shower room sink with detergent! poor quality of cleaning.
over all, all staff, workers were fantastiko! the kids club are amazing! amazing staff! thanks to Ketty, Yelene, Mely & the other girl( forgot her name) for taking care well of my daughter, she had fun with them every minute!
all the food are very good( im not picky eater) all the chef's were very patient & kind & also all the servers, the beach area at the hotel was a bit lacking yet its good for snorkeling & theres alot of chairs with umbrella shades around.the swimming pools are beautiful. there is a another beach called pilar beach was only 15
minutes walk from this resort, its a cristal beach indeed! its breathetaking beach! i wasn't please with the coctail bars... the management should limit serving of alcohol drinks, i saw drunk people in the swimming pools while many kids around, drunk people in the beach & during the night of entertainment. its fun to drink but there should be limit of serving drinks.
the LOngina, international buffet is very good! variety of food. the sukiyaki restaurant food is not really good, but the chef presentation was amazing! the cuban restaurant is fantastik! the GOUrmet restaurant is bad! bad service & bad tough beef steak! we went to eat there on april 5 at 7:30 pm, the bad waitres put us in a very inconvenient place where our table is beside the kitchen door- ( table for 2 people only yet we are 3 peole that has been reserved/booked!) our table is far away from the other costumers tables, yet theres alot of empty tables that available until we finished our dinner. we feel that the waitres treated us differently from the other costumers! i paid so much money for this hotel & not expecting to be treated that way. during our stay in this hotel... we are a very generous giver / tipper to all the staff & workers in this hotel. The Cuban restaurant is fantastik! the waiter & the waitress are very polite.the entertainment were amazing!
Above all, despites of those issues... we had fun with food, in the swimming pools & in the beach.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Beautiful Beach
My husband and I traveled to Memories Flamenco April 4th-11th/2019 .The beach ,lobby , bars and restaurants were well maintained, the grounds were beautiful .The staff were very friendly and the food was plentiful.
The rooms need to be updated and maintained and the public washrooms were disgusting ,the smell from the washrooms were unpleasant and some of the time there were no toilet paper.

Also a big shout out to the night dancers awesome job. They danced with heart, passion and soul

For extra activities it would have been nice to have pools and ping pong tables available.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Mixture of good and bad ....
I have mixed feelings about this resort.
The rooms are pretty decent. Not too fancy but a/c worked great. Although the latches on the patio doors were missing so you couldn't lock those doors at all.
( I was in the rooms near the main lobby)
It costs extra to use the room safes.
The food was pretty good. Not everything was labelled, so had to guess on a few things. The buffet kitchen is supposed to be air conditioned but they weren't working when I was there.
One pet peave I had was the fac[... read more]t the snack bar was only open from noon til 6 pm.
All because they use the snack bar as the Italian Al a Carte. Then if you want snacks you have to go to the Mexican Al a Carte from 11 pm to 7 am.
The beach is pretty good. But you don't have to go very far in the water to end up in a lot of seaweed. Lots of beach chairs and shadey umbrellas and pergulas.
The pool is ok. Not the biggest. Not enough umbrellas around the pool for shade. If you want shade you have to get up at 4 am to save yourself a seat under an umbrella. It would be nice if there was a 2nd row of umbrellas around the pool.
The staff was great, really nice, really hard workers.
The entertainment was great, but because it was held in the main lobby, there just wasn't enough tables and chairs for everyone.
Even though my review shows I wouldn't recommend this hotel, I still believe it's a personal choice. It's an OK place to go but it isn't top notch.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Fabulous beach side resort!!
We stayed at Iberostar Daiquiri for 7 days in early April 2019. Our room was clean and comfortable but best of all was the awesome ocean view from our patio, it was stunning! The resort was just the right size for us with everything within a few minutes walk. Pool was clean and clear with 3 sections, one was very active with lots of activities and music with a swim up bar, in the middle was the kids pool and one the other side was the more quieter side for relaxation. The pool had lots of umbre[... read more]llas and very comfortable chairs. The food and restaurants were all very good with lots of options and different food daily. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I felt very safe on this resort. The gem of this resort though is the beach! It had white clean sand with lots of umbrellas and chairs with a beach bar very close by. I’m hoping to visit this resort in the near future for another great vacation.

Melia Costa Rey: An average hotel in Cayo Coco
3rd visit to Cayo Coco, first time to Pullman.
Very close to airport so that is a bonus.
The beach is great for swimming and walking and lots of shade areas and loungers usually available. Staff were all very good, friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable and the king size bed was as well.
Food was average, nothing amazing but always something to eat. Nutritious comes to mind. As usual my staples were eggs, fruit bread, cheese, and rice and beans. Meat was tough and chewy, as was[... read more] chicken ( hens imo) Fish was the best choice for animal protein.
Entertainment was excellent.
Pools were not really for swimming but for tanning and just splashing around.
The resort has a nice family vibe with a good mix of ages and nationalities.
As was expected there were lots of little things one sees in Cuba, like broken fixtures, leaky showers, half finished projects etc. but nothing to really complain about. It rained moderately on one afternoon and the main buffet restaurant floor flooded. The staff worked diligently to dry it up prior to supper seating. Not sure why it leaked but if the rain had come later in the afternoon there may have been an issue getting the buffet cleaned up in time or perhaps it might have stayed closed?
The first 6 days were constantly windy so there were no mosquitoes but once the wind died they were everywhere. We were not overly bothered by heir bites other than the concerns of mosquito borne viruses.
Value wise we paid 45% more than our trip to Pestana Cayo Coco in 2017 and expected a higher level of refinement. I did not feel that the extra 45% cost had any value and would not return for this reason.
One of our party became quite ill on day 5 but fortunately we had packed Cipro and two 500 mg doses sdeemed to cure the symptoms.
Not a lot to do on Cayo Coco, recommend the Catamaran tour to the coral reefs, an island and submerged sandbar. Wonderful crew, meals and snorkelling. In fact the fresh lunch the crew prepared on board the boat was the highlight of our cuisine experience.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Average Resort
The resort itself was average. We had a renovated room, but because of the open space under the door, bugs and critters would regularly come in. e.g. frogs, cockroaches, geckos, spiders. We were also severely bitten by sand fleas even though we used bug spray on ourselves and on the bedding. Not pleasant! The lagoon/lake that runs throughout the property is beautiful but is a breeding ground for mosquitos and other insects.
Our room and public areas were kept very clean. Toilet paper was [... read more]always replenished (which wasn't the case on previous visits to other Cuban resorts). The food at the buffet table was not appetizing at all. We realize that Cuba is not renowned for its fine dining. Basically, the food was pretty much always the same items reheated. We mostly went to the cooking stations waiting in line to have our main course meals prepared. At least this food was fresh and more appetizing.
All 3 Ã la carte restaurants were average.
While the beach itself was long and beautiful, it was always crowded with people reserving all the lounge chairs before dawn. We were told by other guests that in order to get a lounge chair under a palapa, you needed to lay down your towel the night before, which, by the way, is against resort policy.
Not fair! We paid the same price as everyone else and didn't get the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful beach which is Memories Caribe's main attraction. I was NOT getting up in the middle of the night to walk to the beach in the dark to reserve chairs! We stayed mostly by the pool, only walking the beach and playing in the ocean for a few minutes during our two week stay.
We were very impressed, however, with all the staff. From housekeeping, waiters, gardeners and entertainment, all were so friendly and attentive to our needs.
Although this review is not very positive, we did enjoy our vacation at Memories Caribe. They do their best with what they have!

Sol Cayo Coco: Nice time in CAYO Coco
Just a nice size resort, not too big. Beach is beautiful and no problem finding a shelter or lounger at the beach. Resort was clean and no issues with the room. The staff are very friendly and go above and beyond. The food at 1st was just so so but they were in the middle of a make over so be the 4th day on it was great. They have done an amazing job considering there was a major hurricane in 2017

It was my first trip to Cuba. The weather was beautiful, the beach was breathtaking, the grounds were amazing, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were courteous and friendly and always said hello. The food was good. The only thing I would say was a problem was hot water. Sometimes there was none. Overall I had an awesome trip.

Melia Costa Rey: Look elsewhere
My wife and I initially booked into the Collection section of the hotel, but due to the hotel overbooking we were bumped into a deluxe oceanview room. The tripcentral rep was fantastic working with us to get through it. What a mistake to not take the initial offer of a full refund and use it to book somewhere else.
We ended up stuck in a room with 2 double beds for the first 7 of our 10 day vacation. The beds were the worst I have ever slept on. We managed to get moved to a room with a king s[... read more]ize at the end, but the damage was done to our vacation. Rock-solid double beds do not make for a romantic vacation. Moreover, we repeatedly saw other couples check in and immediately return in anger about double beds instead of king. The oceanview was from the balcony only in our first room. We'd expected people smoking from previous experience at southern resorts, but nothing to this level. The beach was beautiful, but access was roundabout, with no bathrooms in proximity. The pools were mostly very shallow.
Their nightly entertainment schedule was up in the air, with things seemingly being shuffled at the last minute. One show was great and well performed, another was a cacophony of noise and drove people away in short order.
Buffet disappointing without much selection. Cooked to order available, but long lines. Good food from the beach bars, but understaffed and open short times. A la carte restaurants were ok at best, though the ambience at the French restaurant was nice.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Disaster - do NOT go here
This resort is very 'tired' and is a state of disrepair. The room we were given was dirty, had broken tile, worn out tub and dirty linen. We ended up paying for an upgrade as this was the only way we were able to get our room changed. We heard from others as well that they were dissatisfied with their rooms. Lining on the pool was lifting and had creases - we were advised this was a result of last years hurricane and hadn't been repaired. Beach was very nice.

Ron and I would like to thank you Gina for your recommendation of the Gran Muthu Imperial. From the facilities to the staff, amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Gran Muthu Imperial: Beautiful Resort
The view from the Gran Muthu Imperial was the most beautiful view we have experience. You can see the whole resort grounds pools etc along with the biggest view of the ocean we have ever seen, You can see this view from just about everywhere you go. They have Infinity pools which also had amazing views of the ocean. The resort is very new it had only been open for a month, so it wasn't full and that was nice with no line ups for food, drink and checking in. Its an Adult only resort which was lo[... read more]vely as everyone was very relaxed and friendly. It was clean and very modern the nicest one we have ever stayed at in Cuba. Water pressure was amazing along with plenty of hot water. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. The food is good, something for everyone's taste.
it was very windy there as its on a small Island but not cold by any means. The beach is not in front of the resort but to the side not a far walk at all. They have a bar there with waiters bring you drinks and a couple of guys setting up you lounge chairs for you.

Melia Costa Rey: No complaints except one minor thing
Loved the resort from the grounds to the staff. Food was good, lots of different snack bars during the day, awesome beach. Would definitely recommend this as a great family resort with kids. Not to mention the ride from the airport is short - 15 min. Only complaint we had and it’s not major are the beds - very hard.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Absolutely beautiful and so relaxing!
I came here this past march with my mom and one of her good friends and we had a wonderful time! Cuba is known for how friendly the people are and this resort certainly lived up to that reputation. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and they made an effort to get to know us and make our stay as welcoming as possible.
(Special shoutout to China and Mandy from the entertainment staff, Omar and Yandy at the snack bar, Ayanaldis, Yenisey, Malayena and Edel at the buffet, Eric at the lunch restaura[... read more]nt by the beach, all of the bellboys at the front desk, and Carlos, who is one of the managers I believe).
First the good things:
The beach was an absolute dream. If there is one thing I would go back for, it is for the beach. The water was beautiful and clear, the sand was kept nice and clean and there was always enough seating. The dock going out into the middle of the water was also stunning and even better than the pictures show. Incredible!
The resort itself was also stunning. It was so well-kept and surrounded by so much greenery (this was one of the reasons we chose this resort!) All of the public spaces were very well maintained and consistently being cleaned. People would regularly come around the beach and pool area to serve drinks.
Contrary to most of the warnings one receives on the food in Cuba, the food at this resort was fantastic! They had so much variety and everything tasted wonderful. We talked to some people at the neighbouring resorts who did not have the same experience, so that is a definite bonus for Melia! The nighttime à la carte's (international, cuban and mediterranean) were not very good, however. The food they served was overly salty for some reason; we ended up just going to the buffet afterward. Other than that, the food everywhere was lovely.
Just a disclaimer: This resort tended to have an older crowd. Or people with very small children. It's definitely not the kind of place you want to go to have a wild week, it was very tame and is meant mostly for people who want to have a calm, relaxing week off.
The resort is older and you could definitely tell, but that did not take away from the comfort of it. Our room was very nice and well-kept. It felt very clean and comfortable, as did the rest of the resort.
The shows at night in the theatre were just spectacular. They were very well done and so entertaining to watch.
Now for some things that could have been improved:
The first thing we noticed when we entered the resort was that there was no music playing (unlike most other resorts that we have been to). We requested for there to be music played throughout the resort many times so I hope this is something they choose to implement soon. There was usually music playing along the beach and by the pools, but not in the lobby or restaurants.
There were fairly good activities to participate in during the day, but the communication for when the activities and such would be held was very weak. There were zumba classes on the beach during the day and sometimes there would be games, but they really weren't advertised very much. We were lucky because we became friends with the entertainment staff who would let us know when and where stuff was going on but for anyone else the activities would just end up being random.
Also, the resort was advertised as having a disco on site but it was closed every night that we were there and no one was ever encouraged to go in. There were discos outside of the resort that you had to pay to get in and that's where most of the entertainment staff and other guests would end up going. This was very unfortunate because we (along with many other people) just couldn't justify leaving the resort to have to pay for drinks and music when we had drinks as part of our package. This was just a minor problem, however, and if going to the disco is not something you are interested in then this won't be an issue. The nightly entertainment was definitely enough to make up for the lack of other nightlife on the resort.
Another thing we noticed immediately when we arrived was the lack of towels, which was an unfortunate situation for which the resort could not have been to blame. There weren't enough clean beach towels throughout the week, we often had to use the ones we already had, and we noticed as well that the towels in our room which we would leave on the floor to be washed would just ended up folded right back onto the rack; no fresh towels. Again, this was an issue they were having with the towel company off-site, but it was an inconvenience.
Also, because it was an older hotel the toilets tended to have issues most of the time. They wouldn't flush fully, so for the one in our room we ended up needing to dump a bucket of water straight into the bowl to make everything pass through.
The problems we had with the hotel were mostly minor inconveniences, otherwise we had a truly pleasant stay, and particularly walking around outside and on the beach felt like paradise. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a calm and relaxing vacation with an incredible beach. I have never felt so before with other resorts, but I would definitely go back.

Melia Cayo Coco: Loved Melia Cayo Coco
Very much enjoyed our stay. Transfer from the airport was not too long - probably about 30 minutes. Check in was quick and smooth and, despite our early arrival at 12pm, our room was ready for us. The hotel was a full capacity but we rarely had to wait for anything. Food was very good (much better than expected) both at buffets and a la carte restaurants. Hotel was very clean including public areas and washrooms. Nice little touches such as fresh flowers in public areas. Both day time and [... read more]evening entertainment were outstanding - particularly enjoyed the "White Party" and the aquatic show. Lots of live music throughout the day and evening too. The beach is gorgeous with plenty of chairs/palapas available. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Hotel manager (Bernard) is often seen and very approachable. One of the things I liked best was the fact that the music in the public areas was pleasant and not too loud and no "overlapping" music. Grounds and landscaping were very lovely. Maid service was excellent with plenty of fresh towels daily and sheets changed upon request. We did the catamaran excursion which was a bit crowded but very enjoyable. Dive shop available at the Pullman hotel next door. Will definitely recommend and return.
