Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Best vacation ever!!!

Carol took care of everything…made sure it was a very smooth process….all document available it was fantastic…would book with her again and again…thanks for making my vacation awesome. The food was amazing, the whole place was so well kept…and the staff were amazing

Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach: NEVER GO HERE!!!!!!

The bad outweighs the good, it all started upon arrival at the front desk, the room was not ready so they said go get a drink at the bar, big line up. Then we tried to get beach towels to go for a swim, no beach towels, after complaining to many people 2 towels magically appeared . The room if finally ready @ 5pm , the room was nice i opened the mini fridge it was EMPTY. Went back to see why, bottom line is NO drinks get put in the fridge the entire stay !!! The entire week i met 4 english spe [... read more]aking people, this resort is Italian owned , 70 % were from Argentina and 30 % from Italy, NO Americans , NO Canadians, i met 1 man from Edmonton . The beach was nice, the water was clear, No drinks on the beach, no service. The mixed drinks were horrible and the bartenders did not know how to make many drinks. The beer was the crappy watered down draft, only in the a la carte restaurants could you get beer from a bottle. Avoid the Club Viva, its a scam, basically its a time share. Some of the workers were like zombies, especially in the La Rocca restaurant at breakfast, coffee was very slow to arrive so we had to help ourselves. To top it all off they encourage cell phone use, they put all apps on your phone so people walking around like zombies staring at their phones not watching where they are walking. I told them NO cell phone use for me ! There was NO real hotel manager visible to talk and complain to. It's the management and ownership being the problem ! Half way through i got sick from the food, i believe it was from breakfast as my travel partner did not get sick as i ate something different that day. It was clearly from bacteria , massive diarrhea , body aches and had to spend 1 day in the room to recover, i missed my snorkeling excursion because of that. Iberostar Waves Punta Cana: amazing resort

we always enjoy our stays at iberostar punta cana ..rooms have now been upgraded ,fresh paint ,great air conditioning ..love that the door locks open with bracelet instead of carrying around a card to unlock doors ..cleaning staff and servers at all locations were awesome..they also got many new lounge chairs around the pools all in all just a great place to relax n refresh for 14 days ..

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Beautiful Resort

Resort was lovely. All staff greeted us with a smile and made us feel welcome. Food was fantastic except one night we had to wait one hour for a pizza. There was a mix up in the room, we had paid for a room with two double beds and when we got to the room there was only one king size bed. They tried to give us a cot but told them that we paid for 2 doubles and this was not acceptable. After many phone calls they found us a room with 2 double bed. Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Beautiful surroundings

This hotel was better 10 years ago. 1 out of maybe 15 staff spoke English. Not enough staff, long waits for buffet, drinks, questions to be answered, when a complaint was lodged NOTHING was done about it, no wifi in my room, husband's jacket was taken, pool and beaches was like being in a sardine can. Will never come back to this resort.

Ocean El Faro: Enjoyed

Modern, very well designed resort. Grandiose lobby, followed by promenade, surrounded with restaurants, shops and entertainment area. Spacious rooms well equipped with all necessary furniture. Surrounding gardens very well maintained.. Beach was not up to our expectations, rocky, it was windy at time we were there, Atlantic ocean can be wavy and not cozy for swimming. There is a small Laguna nearby where swimming is safe and easy, however this is not in the sight of hotel, therefore not main [... read more]tained. Side of Dominican that faces Caribbean see likely has better beaches and calmer see for swimming. We visited Saona island, it took about 8 hrs. driving and boating back and forth to spend about 4 hrs. on island (not the best organization of the trip), however it was worth, the island is beautiful. Service at excellent level and very friendly in all areas (restaurants, rooms, etc,), Entertainment group puts a lot of effort to keep us well entertained. Their English is much better than our Spanish. It took about 7 hours flight from my country, and about 1hr. drive from airport to this hotel.

Serenade All Suites Adults Only Resort: Beautiful New Resort

Beautiful new hotel. Service was great, rooms were large, comfortable and well appointed, beach was large and beautiful though not great for swimming as there were no waves and water was quite shallow, bars and service there was excellent, 3 large clean pools with varied noise and activity levels. Buffet was very good, didn’t try the alacartes but heard Steakhouse was very good. Would go again in a heartbeat !

Paradisus Grand Cana: Amazing

Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Holiday stay.

It is a beautiful resort with an amazing beach and ocean to swim in. The hotel and rooms are beautiful. Unfortunately we had the disappointment of not receiving the ocean front room we had booked in the adult reserve section of the hotel. They did not have a room for us and we were assigned a suite in the family section far away from friends we travelled with. The manager promised to upgrade our experience with perks but we never heard from him. We are to receive a refund for the room differen [... read more]ce but it certainly negatively impacted our experience at the resort. We also had no contact with the concierge appointed to us because we were in the family side. We were very disappointed. Our friends in the Reserve section had unlimited alcohol, charcuterie boards etc. We had none of this though we had paid for it. We felt secluded from our friends. It was not the vacation we thought we had booked!

Ocean Blue and Sand: Amazing resort

Fantastic atmosphere , very friendly and clean resort. Very well maintained rooms, nice personnel ( koodos to our beautiful and lovely lady Rosalba who took care of us during our dining at the breakfast/dinner buffet ??). Entertainment at the resort was incredible ( Blue Team - you rock!!! ? ). Food was everything we could think of , delicious, lots of variety for everyone. If you are a lover of seafood that should be a place definitely on your list !!! We definitely enjoyed every moment there  [... read more]and will look forward to return again in near future.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Great Grounds and Beach

The hotel was nice, restaurants great food, beach nice and clean, as was pool. Friendly staff. However, our room, although clean, was infested with mosquitos every nite and we came home with bites all over our face, etc.

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Nice resort overall.

First time staying at Dreams Royal Beach, we were in the preferred club with a suite (double the size of a standard room) which cost a bit more, but was really nice. The Preferred section is however quite far from the beach and most restaurants, so if you like walking, great. Otherwise there are golf carts that will take you all over the resort. The preferred section has just been completely renovated and is tiptop. There is a wonderful walking bridge over a lake that will take you to the main r [... read more]esort lobby, lots of birds, turtles, and even an iguana or two to try and spot. The restaurants were on the small side, which usually meant waiting to get a table at any of them, but no reservations were required save for the seafood restaurant. The buffet was definitely smaller with less food options than what we're used to, but the food was adequate. Staff are great. One thing that really irked my wife and I was the loud music everyday, even at the preferred club poolbar, in what should be the relaxing part of the resort. And at some times it wasn't even enjoyable music, hard rock and heavy metal are not what we want to hear when we come back from the beach and want to relax on our balcony a bit before dinner. I called our butler to ask the bar staff to turn down the music and re-examine their song choices to something more in line with a Caribbean vacation, which was accommodated quickly. Thank you Emmanuel! Towels are not an issue. There's tons of them everywhere, no card required, use as many as you like. Beach chairs/Pool chairs are in somewhat short supply, get up early if you want to claim your spot for the day. Towels will be removed by staff from unattended chairs if someone else complains they can't find a spot. This did create a few uncomfortable instances where someone who went for breakfast returned to their seats and found someone else sitting there. My suggestion is to bring something more than towels, such as a book, hat, beachbag, suntan lotion, etc. to leave at your chairs if you plan to be away from them for a bit. Make your chairs look "lived in". I was up every morning at 7 am, grabbed some chairs on the beach, left some low-value personal items and never had an issue with losing our spot. The beach was excellent, not a rock anywhere, just sand, sand, sand. Awesome. Seaweed gets cleaned up daily with a tractor. Overall I would recommend. It was a nice vacation. In comparing it to the Majestic Elegance Punta Cana (which we've stayed at 6 times, and love) I'd have to say they're on par. Each has different strengths and weaknesses, but for the money, you'll enjoy Dreams Royal Beach.

Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham: Spend your money and time elsewhere

The first day set the tone. We were approached five times in three hours by staff attempting to convince us to attend a one hour meeting to learn about the Viva membership benefits (read : time share) It was as stressful as being on a used car lot with their hard sell tactics. By the fifth approach we were admittedly curt and spent the balance of the trip avoiding them and not making eye contact. It was relentless and not what you hope for when going on vacation to relax. Retreating to our room  [... read more]proved to be worse. It was old and outdated and our wing bordered the public beach beside the resort. We were unable to sit on the ocean view balcony that we paid a premium for because there was the music coming from the pool that blasted (almost) all day that competed with the blaring music coming from the public beach. Bring ear plugs if you like afternoon siestas. Never going back to a Wyndham property if they think this is okay to do to their guests.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Excellent Service

This was our Second Visit to Viva Heavens and it surpassed our first experience. The resort is small. The service is amazing. All the staff speak English (waiters, bar tenders, reception) and they are always smiling and happy to serve you. The food was much better and more varied this visit. Any small problem (glitchy door lock) was immediately dealt with. The resort is NOT ocean facing but accessed by a short walk along a lush path bordering a lagoon.

Playabachata Hotel: You get what you pay for which isnt much

The grounds and beach were nice. However good luck finding a beach chair or getting towel after 10am. Room was a little rough, the a/c needed to be running 24/7 to keep the room cold but it was so loud. Bed was hard as a rock. The staff wasn’t very friendly. Check in and check out took 30+ minutes both times. Got tricked into a timeshare type presentation at their sister resort. Was asked if we wanted to have breakfast there and it turned into a 2 hour presentation. Food wasn’t very good, decent [... read more] selection but was just average and everything was pork. Only got reservations to go to the steak and Italian restaurant once and the portion sizes were small.

Grand Palladium Palace: Palladium 2024

Overall, we enjoyed our week at the resort. The room was excellent except for the design of the shower/bathtub. The bath was difficult to enter/exit and the shower tended to leak all over the floor unless you were extremely careful. The service at pools and restaurants was very good too. Food quality was OK but sometimes not very hot a buffets. We tried unsuccessfully to obtain VIP bracelets which we had enjoyed during our previous visits in 2019 and 2020. Desk staff couldn’t find our compete  [... read more]history with the resort and (supposedly) emailed their administration to obtain missing details. VIP status would have given us access to at least one restaurant that we had used before. All of this has been communicated in a survey requested by Palladium.

Grand Bavaro Princess: What amazing resort !!!

Amazing hotel, different from other hotels, its rooms are layout with a separate lounge and all of them has a balcony. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are cleaned on time . There are quite a few restaurants to choose from and couple of buffet and one is right on the beach area. Loved my stay here

Serenade All Suites Adults Only Resort: Nice resort

This was a nice resort. A few things need to be improved on. The pools need hand rails, lighting in stairwells. There are no signs to say what the entertainment or activities are. The lobby bar had the same music every night, in-between a singer performing. I found the water aerobics okay, until you have to massage the backs of eachother, then form a line outside of the pool for " dance". Zumba was short, maybe 4 songs and below average. There was a break in-between songs, not smooth. The food [... read more] was usually Luke warm in the buffets, but always could find something to eat. The main complaint would be the language barrier. If you are working in these resorts, basic knowledge of the English language should be required. I am not blaming the employees, I felt sorry for them. Examples would be a guest trying to get orange juice at breakfast and the poor server just didn't understand and gave water 2x. I ordered pork ribs and pointed on the menu and got a beef rib. Sometimes you wouldn't get appetizer, I think because they didn't understand. We also found the service very slow most times, especially in lobby bar. Maybe they need more employees. Pools were great, beach was lovely, although you had to be down by 7 to "save" a chair. Only got one 1x. There didn't seem to be an issue getting a lounger around pools. One pool quiet, closest to main lobby and less wind on the very windy days. Middle pool a little more active, then pool closest to the beach is where the music was louder and activities taking place. We had some nice servers, Alba, Norvell and Jon joa? ( sorry, trying to remember name)

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Awesome Resort

This is our third time staying at Senator Resort and Spa, Puerto Plata in a year. The resort is very comfortable. We like the food, the beds, the pool area and the people. For the cost of this resort we feel it meets our needs and provides us with an awesome vacation. We really enjoy flying out of Hamilton airport with Air Transat.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Great resort!

So many nice things about this resort including no towel cards. You can use as many as you need and then dispose of them in the bins needed. There was never a shortage of clean, dry towels to use. Also, no reservations needed for the A La Carte restaurants. The staff are so very friendly and helpful to everything you need. This resort isn't accessible to everything, if you have physical limitations. Two restaurants are on second level. The resort is not huge so easy to get around.
