The week that we spent at Iberostar Mojito was overall a great experience. The resort atmosphere was laid back and relaxing. There were minimal lines for drinks or food.
Food:
The food at the buffet was good overall - the omelette and bacon stations were always popular. This is the first resort that I have been to that didn't have labels on the food at the buffet and the bread sat out uncovered, which left it quite dry.
The snack bar's food was good- the chicken and pizzas especially. There w[... read more]ere no menus on the table or at the snack bar, so you never knew what was available unless you asked. It took us 4 days to realize they offered chicken. The international a la carte was excellent, the Cuban was good. Cuban day (Tuesday) was Great, with many choices of meats and sides. The churros were great with the cinnamon and sugar!
Rooms:
The room was clean, beds were comfortable and pillows were fluffy. The water pressure was excellent and consistently hot. The maid was very friendly, but the daily room cleaning was light, at best.
Beach:
The beach was beautiful with a beach bar and snack bar. There were always chairs and shade available.
Staff:
The staff was friendly and accommodating.
Overall Experience:
The area was beautiful and so were the people. We arrived at the resort at 12:40 am due to a delayed flight and were surprised that we were left to find our building and room by ourselves, in the dark. There has been lots of work done to repair the resort following the hurricane damage and that was evident. The nightly shows were entertaining. There were days and nights were there were toilet paper shortages in the bathrooms, but this isn't a new issue for most resorts.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Wonderful solo getaway!
Travelling alone to Cuba and the Iberostar Ensenachos was a great experience. The hotel is set up well allowing for me to choose the adults only (spa) section. My room was really comfortable (mattress not as good as my own at home but I wasn’t expecting that) and the bathroom’s amenities and layout was perfect. The pools are good. It the Olaya Ensenachos and the water truly cannot be beaten. One of the most beautiful I have ever seen, and I travel a lot. The staff seemed to quietly keep and [... read more]eye to be sure that I, as a solo female traveller, was safe and comfortable. I really appreciated the woman in the dining room who always greeted me with a smile, a table and asked about my day. With little other conversation during my week she was heaven sent! The gardens and walkways are lovely and I felt safe at all times and hours. The food was good, Cubans do their very best with limited resources and I never went hungry. The bank, shops, shows and internet were all good enough - I truly was there for the beach and the sunshine and the rest and Iberostar Ensenachos delivered, 100%! P.S. the morning yoga classes were perfect!!!
The meals at the buffet were always the same, not enough variation. The meals with reservation were good, especially the italian supper. The resort was very well situated. The rooms had always sand on the floor...could be cleaner...The plastic chairs at the beach were not comfortable at all. I like the proximity of everything. The security was very good. The people working there were friendly..I wouldn't recommend this resort.

Hotel Mojito: Great People, Good Food, Nice Atmosphere
We had a great time at the Iberostar Mojito, and I realized upon returning home that I had actually stayed at the resort 14 years ago when it was called "El Senador"! It was lovely weather, just a bit windy some days and we did lots of fun activities. We had a small frog infestation during the last few days which was horrifying. I trapped one in the drain and the other in the garbage can to bring outside. Nightmare!! Then I was able to seal the door with plastic so they couldn’t get in, I thi[... read more]nk the caretakers were able to remove the one from the drain. We did a full day trip and some nights out! Cave night, Lenny's (where our cab driver abandoned us for 2 hours... #fail!) and and the Jeep-ON tour. For this tour we got picked up in jeeps (you can drive if you know standard) went to a dock where we picked up our own speed boats, drove to a specific area to snorkel, then took the jeeps to the city of Morón. Walked around for a bit, then went to lunch at a sugarcane farm. From there we went back in the jeeps up a “mountain†to get cool views of the area. And finished with a crocodile farm!!! Then back for dinner. It was awesome. Our Air Canada rep Yelenis was so lovely. Literally everything there was late, no busses arrived "on time" but everyone was friendly. I really enjoyed the lobby bar at the resort, it was clean. They really didn't have enough soap in the ladies communal bathrooms though, that was gross. Make sure to bring hand sanitizer everywhere. The shows were really fun and well-done. Food selection was better than expected and chefs were kind. Juice sucks, stick to bottled water or beer ;) Beach was stunning, and pool was good. Not very busy overall, but resort could have more engaging activities and games throughout the day.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Great Resort!
This hotel was beautiful and clean and the service was great! The rooms were modern and well kept and housekeeping was very responsive if you needed anything. If you wait until after 5:30 to shower you may not have hot water but that was the only negative really - the resort was busy as it was March break so this may have contributed to this. The food was standard for CUBA but slightly on the better side of what I have seen in the past. There were different options everyday and there was alwa[... read more]ys something to eat. The beach was clean and pristine. Soft sand and beautiful clear water with little to no seaweed. It was beautiful. The location was also great as it was not far from the airport (about 30 minutes). I would definitely recommend this resort for families or couples.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Good resort
The outdoor portion of the resort was beautiful. The rooms need some major updating. Entertainment and service staff were great!
Food was not great but from what I've heard that's typical of Cuba.

Hotel Mojito: Excellent value
So we were skeptical. A 3.5* in Cuba is not a 3.5* elsewhere, but it was great value, left on the date I needed and was only 15 minutes from the airport. having been to Cayo Santa maria three years ago, I said I wouldn't return and here I am in Cuba once again.
Boarding out of London was fantastic, we left 30 minutes early! Customs was relatively quick and we departed for the resort within 10 minutes of hitting the bus. Drive took about 25 minutes because of two stops, but still a breeze (i[... read more]f you've sat on the bus from Cancun to Bahia Principe...90 minutes later you're begging for a pee break!).
Arrived at resort, check in was painless. You're able to exchange funds at the front counter at any time so that was a big plus.
The lobby is very nice, not opulent but quite nice. And wifi can be purchased for a buck an hour in the lobby which is a deal.
So this area was hit hard by the hurricane last fall, and it's evident but this resort has spent a lot fo time and money recovering the main parts. Probably half the resort is still not recognizable (including three alacarte restaurants, theatre, cigar lounge and kids play area BUT they've done a great job.
The rooms are dated, but clean. Toilet paper is sparse (a roll a day) and one day we had no towels but not a deal breaker).
Break a currency converter as some of the rooms don't have 220. A couple of the crew lent us their own (the people are amazing here).
So the food. I won't brag that it's the Mayan, cuz it's not but there was a fresh grilling station ever day with tilapia, sea bass, chicken, beef and pork (all grilled in front of you) and the omelet station for breakfast was excellent.
The people are wonderful and truly appreciate it when tipped (just $1 CUC will suffice)...and they remember you. The lobby bar staff (Freddy, Carbo, Alain and Lixander) were excellent. Never expected a tip but so appreciated it.
The grill guy always had our fish on when he saw us come in ans the omelet guy was so appreciative.
The beach is the best I've been too. Lots of loungers, beach bar and grill (um I think the hamburgers sucked but the ham and cheese was good), lots of space and lots of white sand. No water shoes needed!
The adult pool is very boring. No bar and no washroom. The other pool is good but we're more beach people when there's a good beach.
We did not like the alacarte but honestly we're used to the Mayan alacartes which are awesome, so I'll give them a mulligan there.
The gym is decent too, however didn't open on time always (the staff come in on a bus from two hours away so if it's delayed, the gym is not open).
All in all, a great break for under $1000. Would I pay more, um not much more but well worth what we paid. Really good value.
And yes, i would go back.

Hotel Mojito: Nice Resort
My husband and I arrived at the hotel pretty late as our flight was delayed a few hours due to a storm in Halifax, NS so we got there in the dark close to midnight. Upon arrival, the music was very loud in the lobby area where you check in, so that was a little bit of an annoyance as it makes it hard to communicate with the staff upon check in. I believe that their disco was shut down due to the hurricane in September, so they had to have music somewhere although that was not the best place. The[... read more]y could have had it by the stage area. We had trouble with our room key (card) for the first two days although it was a quick fix. We didn't have to wait around too long for the problem to be solved.
The grounds seemed very clean and there were staff working on them daily. The pool areas seemed to be kept clean also. There is a smaller adult pool if you want more privacy and quiet time. Here is the place to lay back and relax and read a book without any visual distractions or much noise, so that was nice.
Parts of the resort are still shut down. If you look up the resort map, you will see little tiny like cottages that are built on top of the water right before the beach area. None of these were open, and they only had the one small restaurant (a la carte) that was open that you could make reservations for. They used the one restaurant nightly and switched up the choices for cuisine. It seemed to work as the resort was not overly crowded anyway.
The buffet was surprisingly satisfying. Some nights of course were better than others, but I think that is pretty common anyway. No issues with the food itself.
There were a lot of families here at this resort. Lots of kids which was nice to see. The public washrooms are well, public washrooms. We all know the resorts run out of toilet paper and soap a lot of the time, and often, the stalls seem to shut down so you are sometimes in a line up for a toilet although that has been a common problem at other resorts I have been to. It's a good idea to take your own roll of toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
The beach is breathtaking. The water is beautiful and crystal clear on calm days. Very nice stretch of beach to walk or run.
Although there are always some little common problems with the resorts, considering the amount of damage that was done and how good the grounds look etc. I thought overall this resort was clean and friendly and I would go back and take my family to this resort again.
It is only about 15 minutes from the airport, so a short bus ride to the resort is awesome. We did the Cigar, Sugar, and Rum excursion. We bused it across the causeway which is about 27km long to the city of Moron. We had some free time there and included in this excursion is a horse and carriage ride around the downtown, a trip to the sugar mill to see how they juice the sugarcane and you get to taste it, a train ride, an outside buffet, a trip to the alligator farm, and a boat ride through the mangroves and free bottle of rum and a cigar at the end of the trip. It is a full day, so take lots of extra water, snacks, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer.
The lobby area is very pretty and a great place to sit during the day for drinks or conversation. At night it gets loud, but that is probably as I said before, because of the disco being shut down. We didn't have any major issues here. We can't wait to go back next year. Whether it is at the same location or not, we would love to go back to Cayo Coco. We had a great time.

Variety of food. Al-a-carts are excellent, especially the Asian restaurant. Pools are refreshing with the pool bar. The ocean is amazing. The blues in the ocean are breathtaking. Great boardwalk by the beach.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: very nice resort
I really enjoyed my 2-weeks vacation. Resort is clean with beautiful gardens, beach is rocky but nice and clean, people very friendly and helpful. Accommodation is very nice, clean and private. It really has character. I would highly recommend to fix those cozy patios, you cannot enjoy them during rainy days, they are leaking.Food was ok, I went only to buffet, variety to choose from. I am not demanding person, it's very easy to please me. And I don't expect perfection.
Snorkeling from the beac[... read more]h wasn't as good as I was hoping. Fish are mostly @ pier, but you have many places for snorkeling to go. I took couple of private trips by taxi and it was worth the money spent.
If you are looking for quiet place to relax and unwind, avoid high school spring break. My mistake and lesson for the future. But sometimes it was entertaining.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: A Great Resort with an Amazing Staff !!
We have visited this resort twice and have loved it both times. The grounds are beautiful and the boardwalk over the coral beach is a great place to sit and enjoy the ocean view. We found the food at the buffet very good both times with lots of variety. Plenty of grill stations to sample and not much of a lineup up at any time. The wonderful staff is the main reason we returned here, they are beyond friendly and work hard to ensure you have a great experience at IPP. We would also like to thank Lisa Selig of tripcentral for yet another seamless vacation transaction. Thanks Lisa, cheers until next time.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Awesome resort
This was our second trip to the Playa Pilar in two years, needless to say we returned because we was impressed on our initial visit. I have nothing bad to say about your resort, the amount of staff that remembered us from our trip a year ago was mind boggling. I apologize if I cant remember names but from the time we stepped off the bus we was greeted by Jossy and Yadier, awesome people skills, they were the first two to remember us. The rooms was great always clean, good variety of food, buffet[... read more] and a la carte`s, didn’t really care for the Mediterranean restaurant, not because the food was bad just it wasn’t the type of food I prefer. Wilbur, the bar tender at the 24 hour snack bar made very good drinks which kind of matched his personality and attitude, always upbeat and friendly. All staff from the grounds keepers to the people that waited on you always had a smile for you, and willing to help out in any way they could. If I had to put a negative twist on this place it would be the lack of a beach front, the boardwalk is great but a beach is nice, in saying that Pilar beach is a short walk if you want to go there. Overall I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone that wanted a fun and relaxing vacation. We will definitely return to this place in the future.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Ok resort
Hotel is new and looking nice. Hotel has 826 rooms but very limited dining services/food in cafeteria. Only 1 waffle maker for this whole resort. Staff is very slow especially in cafeteria-takes a long time to get an omelette and long line builds up really quick. Cafeteria staff needs to refill food in a faster/better manner. More variety of food options were available when cafeteria just opened for meals as opposed to 1 hour later, probably 1/3 of food was available. Checked out lagage is kept [... read more]in the lobby not in the locked room as it’s stated by service desk staff and in the info package-had to have an unpleasant argumentative conversation with a concierge about it. Hotel offers a complimentary shower room but no clean towels to use. Requested 4 times towels, waited forever and never got them. Shower not cleaned between customers.
Our room was cleaned daily by the maid and no complaints about that (tipped every day the maid and cafeteria servers with every meal).
Beach was nice but you had to reserve the chairs under the umbrellas early in the morning to have protection from the sun. This huge hotel should have more umbrellas available for the amount of people staying there. Overall it was ok, not great experience.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Fabulous beaches for small kids
Friendly and responsive staff as usual in Cuba. Lobby alive with music and dancing at night, but there's not as much music or entertainment as Varadero resorts. Lobster, fresh fish and prawns best choices for food; a serious lack of green vegetables. A little less selection and more quality would improve buffet, but it is an all--inclusive and the beach is the real draw. Pirata restaurant a good one. Note that if you book into kids' side even if you don't have kids you aren't allowed into the ba[... read more]r, pools etc on adult/spa side. Ensenachos and Megano beach are both beautiful white sand, crystal clear water, calm and shallow so small kids can play without much supervision. Lots of palapas and bar service, plus activities - salsa lessons etc. Take a dip, feel the fish swimming around your feet and sip a mojito in the shade of a palapa.
The surroundings were beautiful, luxurious and clean. Thank to Ballemy for your excellent work at keeping our room clean. Thank you for the towel shaped swans.Thank you Yudis for your very useful Spanish lessons. Thank you Jamines for your professionalism and patience in teaching me how to play tennis.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Mixed Review
Good: New facility. Rooms, lobby, pool, grounds, tennis courts, gym, etc. were very nice. Evening entertainment was very good. Table tennis, shuffle board and bocce were fun to play in between pool and beach visits. Nice new paddle boats, kayaks and catamarans to use for free.
Bad: I only had hot water on one out of the 7 days there. The main buffet was extremely busy. The flow of the buffet was poorly designed and the staff not very efficient so getting anything made on the spot was an extrem[... read more]ely long process. An example is doing only 1 omelette or 2 fried eggs at a time. The snack bar was a welcome alternative but you have to resign yourself to the fact that you will be waiting up to an hour to get drinks and a hot dog. The food at the restaurants that you can book was good. Unfortunately, we were only able to use 2 of our 3 restaurant passes since all the seating times (except for 9PM) were taken.
So-so: I am used to extremely friendly staff at other resorts so I was surprised by the staff at Bella Vista. Many seemed bored, indifferent, etc.. They weren’t rude or anything. They just didn’t go out of their way for anything. The beach was very pretty but fairly small. No room to play catch, beach volleyball, etc.. You have to pay a small fee per 1 hour of internet usage. Very slow connection. I could not see any email attachments, etc.. This was kind of a blessing since I was kind of forced to truly disconnect and go off the grid. The elevators were extremely slow. We were on the 7th floor and literally never used the elevators except at arrival and departure when we had our luggage. I didn’t mind the stair climb at all but it’s worth mentioning since I know this could be a challenge for people with more limited mobility.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: great vacation
I spent a week at this resort with my wife, and two daughters, aged 5 and 7. We had a fantastic time at this resort! Things that were perfect included the beach, friendliness of staff, swimming pools, excursions, entertainment, cleanliness, safety. Things less than perfect did not detract from our experience and included food (mediocre at buffet and a bit busy and frantic, better at a la carte restaurants) and little details like pools not filled at the kids centre, broken faucets, toilets th[... read more]at ran continuously etc...
Highlights were the beach, the killer rock cover band that me and my kids danced our buts off to, the buena vista social club band, swimming with dolphins (the girls loved it, while my wife felt a bit guilty), being on a catamaran, and the bellamar cave.
Would definitely recommend and return!
We just spent a week at the Iberostar Varadero in Cuba in March 2018. It was amazing! The room was clean and easily accommodated the three of us (two adults and a seven year old). Yeni always made sure we had fresh towels. And we never had issues with noise coming through the walls. We mostly ate at the buffets where the wait staff were quite attentive, ensuring we had coffee, water and juice at breakfast. At supper, we never had an empty glass of wine! The food selection was diverse and [... read more]there was always something to enjoy eating, even for our picky 7 year old daughter. Jorge, Roxy and many other took care of us! The beach was wonderful and we were always able to find chairs and a shady spot to relax. The bar was close by, and a waiter was always near to top off a drink. Poolside was the same, and Julisa kept us well hydrated! Activities were great. Zumba lessons with Chocalate, shuffle board, pellet gun competitions, quizzes with Denis, kept us laughing and busy all day. A few pluses was the proximity to the airport, only a 30-40 minute drive and it was easy to organize a day trip and tour of Havana. Only 355 more days to go until we're back!
