Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Lesson learned - never book last minute over the phone

I have been to Club Amigo before and it is a delightful 3 star resort where you get full value for your travel dollar, so my star ratings are based on that experience. Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding concerning my departure date when I recently booked a last minute trip there with TripCentral.ca over the phone and I ended up missing my flight, not having a vacation and am pretty sure I have lost all my money ! Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: It truly is a resort for old and new friends "Amigo"

For those who have travelled to Cuba before will understand what I'm about to say...Once you are settled into your 1st, or 2nd or 3rd assigned room, paid for your security box, removed or re-arranged your furniture to suit your stay you will be well on your way to a fantastic vacation. For a stress free vacation at this resort or any, lock your money, passport, air line tickets, and anything else valuable in your security lock. This way you don't have to worry...the less you have on ,and wit [... read more]h you, the more you have the freedom to just be and enjoy this lovely resort in Cuba. The sandy beach and healing ocean is AMAZING...yes, it's public, and yes it's safe enough but always be wise. I must say that when you see the fat old ugly men with very young local gals please don't let it affect you too long. don't give it much energy it could dampen your trip...There are many wonderful people from all over...instead make new friends and ALWAYS REMAIN POSITIVE. The Cuban employees at the hotel are happy people...smile and they will love you. for the gals out there...the young lady who does the manicures/pedicures/and hair is truly a big heart of a person. manicure is only 5 pesos :) The market next door to the hotel is fun...I would recommend purchasing your souvenirs at the market...great deals for silver and more. The excursions...horse back riding OMG FUN :) the Indian resort with dinner INTERESTING and an EXCELLENT MEAL :) They have two banks on the resort...or for easy access you can get your money exchanged at the front desk...same exchange rate. Now, for the food...There is plenty to choose from and Cuban food is clean and healthy for our bodies...so enjoy, but be careful not to eat too much especially when you first get there lest you have issues going to the bathroom :) slow down and chew your food. LOL There wasn't much for entertainment, but for Christmas the entertainment and dance was a lot of fun...I decided to dance and receive some of that beautiful exciting Cuban energy...it worked! I was energized, and even now, being back in Ontario I feel energized and new :) THANKS CUBA AND ALL MI AMORE All in All...this resort is a good one...It's up to you to make your vacation a happy, safe, and healthy one! super séjour personnel chaleureux....chambre un peu mieux et la nourriture était vraiment meilleure un bel effort....température parfaite, super plage...Nous étions 8 personnes et je parle au nom des huit..tout le monde a bien aimé son séjour.....

Playa Costa Verde: Christmas in Cuba

The staff at this resort were friendly and accommodating. We could tell that they were currently updating the guest rooms and replacing the tile around the pool which will help with the resorts overall look. The resort is beautiful but it's the little things that take away from this. Cracked tiles and few other broken items. There was always plenty of beach chairs and always staff on hand to carry the chairs for you. Food was good especially at the snack bar. If you go, book the Japanese resta [... read more]urant. Playa Costa Verde: Third time at the Playa Costa Verda

Amazing as always, great people, good food, wonderful beach area. Staff are very helpful and friendly, no problems what so ever. The ala carte restaurants where awesome especially the Japanese restaurant and the entertainment that comes with it.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Loved it!!

Very nice, quiet and clean hotel, with excellent restaurants. The bedroom was spacious and very comfortable, the bathroom renovated as well. Excellent staff, very professional and friendly. We loved everything and will definitely be back.. maybe next time we will choose "Royal Service"..

Playa Pesquero: Very good!

Everything was brilliant! Just one dark spot in my impression- checking-in. We spent more than one hour arguing for better building and floor Finally we had it - building 60. Suprisingly there was a line of people with the problems (and it was in the middle of the night)

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Awesome resort

Resort was excellent.. food / buffet was great 👍 lots of options. Alacart were good seafood bit over cooked. I had junior room and it was clean and very spacious. Wifi have pay for, and only in main lobby which was disappointing. House keeping want friendliest and I never replenishes coffee sugar beer etc. Had call every 2 days get stuff. Be sides that... the resort was definitely a 5 * and u would recommend this resort especiallly in Cuba 🇨🇺 for sure😀

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: It was okay

The room and food really sucked. The beach was nice as well as the drinks. Good service, but the grounds need some work. There were a lot of peddlers on the beach which was annoying. Outside of our room there was an open wire that was sparking during some rain, I'm not sure if they checked it out or not...

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Special place

Lovely place for a relaxing vacation. Warmly greeted by staff. All needs promptly and efficiently met, especially when we experienced a medical emergency. Rooms are large and comfortable. Grounds are spacious and well kept. Very nice place for long walks. Food was the best we have had in Cuba. Entertainment was varied, especially enjoyed the variety of musicians and the variety of music performed at the lobby bar in the evening. Especially enjoyed the beach restaurant - beautiful location on a  [... read more]hill, overlooking the ocean - excellent a la carte food, service, and mid day entertainment. Resort seemed generally suited to adults who want a guieter atmosphere although there are lots of activities if you want to participate. We will return.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Very good resort, excellent service

The main resort is tidy and clean, we had no problems at all. There are two sections to this resort, the Royal section is completely separate from the main section. This review is for the main section. Food in the buffet was good, lots of selection, very tasty. The beach is very nice, services very good, staff very friendly and attentive. Playa Pesquero: Fantastic resort

The grounds were very clean and very scenic,food was great in the reservation restaurants as for the buffet could not get used to the birds all over but still good the shows at night was all great loved them all the staff were the best ,for are first vacation this was the best place, we would return again,really did not want to leave .thank for the best service at the trip central and sunwing......

We love the place, excellent service, friendly helpful staff, highly recommend the resort to others. We love the entertainment, it' s very Cuban, that's how we love it! The food is very good, just hope they can maintain it that way.

Don Lino Hotel: enjoyed the week at don lino

had a lovely week at don lino,quiet resort,beach is very rocky and was rough ,however 1km away was playa blanca,lovely beach,bicycles and horseback riding were both free,and utilized them every day,went to the farmers market on saturday in santa lucia and bought some fresh produce as well as enjoyed a tomotoshrimp soup and a roasted pork sandwich,rented a scooter one day $25 cuc for the day and went visiting a friend in guadalaca,nice beach there too,enjoyed a meal ther for about$2 pesos ,for me [... read more] the resort was great i like the counrtyside,rooms were right on the beach,and i found the food be be very good as i enjoy creole cuisine

Brisas Covarrubias: extremely clean

Easiness to get around,clean everywhere . Only thing not very pleasant is that after flying 4 hours you have to be driven for over 2 hours to get to the hotel which is tedious and tiring travelingis treaturous boring and too long

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Swimming heaven

Very laid back homey hotel. Service oriented and friendly. Many many guests happily return. Food was exceptional this time. Both buffets and a La carte restaurants were very good with great variety. I will forgive them for covering the fish fillets with gravy! The beach is stunning. A swimmer's dream come true. Crystal clear warm water and safe too. There is an issue with beach towels being stolen and better security would be a good thing. Do not put anything out on the balco [... read more]ny if you want to keep it. Internet is not their strong suit. I believe it is that way all over Cuba. Overall it is a very enjoyable place with good nightly entertainment, comfortable rooms and attentive service. There are friendly unpretentious guests from all over the world. I will return yet again and look forward to it. And do bring toilet paper. It is like gold.

Playa Costa Verde: Playa Coste Verde

This was our 4th trip to this resort, that says something in it self. It has the best beach out of the 3 resorts that are on that cove. The grounds are lovely and well kept. Food is very good for Cuban food. This resort is on the small side and if your looking for a loud party place this is not the resort for you.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: A delightfully relaxing informal experience yet with many pleasant amenities.

The 'Royal Service' (RS) division of the Paradisus Rio de Oro Resort (Holguin), where we stayed this time, offered a pleasant upscale experience by Cuban standards. From the full service restaurant and adequately stocked bar to the exceptional evening entertainment and pampering 'butler service', it was a delightful experience. Although the RS private restaurant menus, particularly the dinner menu, never changed and got to be somewhat tiring after a week, the availability of the larger food hal [... read more]l and several theme restaurants in the standard area of the resort offered ample good dining alternatives. There are many small details one could complain about but allowances must be made for the fact that this is Cuba and the weather and inexhaustibly pleasant people more than offset any small deficiencies one might find fault with in an American or European resort. Although something might be done about the steps, or lack thereof, leading down to the large main beach which offered a minor obstacle course of coral boulders to scrable over before reaching the quite lovely sandy beach. And of course, 'After Bite' or other mosquito/sandbug bite desensitizing agent is recommended as with any tropical locales. Although the Royal Service division is a bit more expensive, offering a touch more privacy and a pleasant remove from the larger, noisier crowds in the standard resort area nearby, one shouldn't forget that tips to staff are still a very much appreciated (and needed) aspect of Cuban hospitality providers, something many guests (especially from Europe) seem unaware of. To end on a sweet note, let me tell you that one of the 'hidden treasures' of this resort is its incomparablly delicious 'coconut ice cream' which, though oddly absent from any Royal Service menu, can be obtained by simply requesting it ... which I heartily suggest you do!

Run down place ...................bad food. save your money go to a newer hotel,in Cuba. at-least no bugs and birds shitting and pecking at your food before you get to it........................................................................................................

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: We had a great timeg

The beach was amazing with a great service, enough shade. A room service was good, no complaints, people are nice and friendly. The shows were sometimes very professional and sometimes not, but in general we had a great experience and definitely will go there again
