Hotel Los Cactus: My recent stay

Positive: beautiful beach , lots of long term friendly staff , junior suites building smells moldy , but garden suites nice and spacious, we were in I block loved the location , golf course close by, coupon for golf offered by resort..Great coffee bar outside Cuban restaurant minor updates visible Negative: public bathrooms frequently ran out of toilet paper and cleaning limited especially in junior suite building outside Martino’s restaurant it was gross . Ran out of wine daily before even lunch or none at all even in al la carte restaurant, no tonic water for drinks, we had to purchase bottles of wine in the gift shop , as we only really drink wine or maybe a gin and tonic, shortage blamed on embargo, ran out plates for days then butter for 5 days days , never refilled fridge even staying for 2 weeks Many repeaters and long term stay people, so very popular resort, and quite the repeaters group here Will I return most likely as despite it all I love this resort..

Melia Las Americas: Wonderful resort, people & beach!

We just returned from a wonderful week at Melia Las Americas Varadero. The people, location, beach, pools, entertainment & food were all full of awesomeness! To be able to walk to the golf course and the DuPont Mansion were an added bonus. We were impressed to meet so many vacationers who return year after year & I think we will be back as well. We didn’t upgrade to The Level and were pleased with our room...the cleaning staff did a great job & our fridge was restocked daily. Grand Memories Varadero: Amazing resort

My hotel room was good, always cleaned , the bartenders were very busy but tried to get drinks out as quick as the could. Food was okay, I ate something that made me sick for two days . I would return. Flight delay and sunwing not updating pickup from hotel was by far the worst thing happened

Grand Memories Varadero: Great experience

I was very leary of going to cuba in the first place because im a picky eater but all in all it was an amazing trip great food the people working at this resort were fantastic always happy and helpful they had alot to offer with activities so at the end of the day no complaints and would definately go back to cuba as well as the grand memories resort.

Melia Las Americas: Amazing resort

My husband and I have been to Varadero many times and have stayed at about four other resorts. We really enjoyed the size of this resort and my husband enjoyed the golf package that is offered. We never had to fight for lounge chairs or elbow our way at the buffet. The al la carts were excellent, especially the Japanese. We found the food to be the best that we have had in Cuba. We would recommend this resort for the golfing, food and the nice touches like violin acts etc. Some one in a previous [... read more] review mentioned the noisy disco which we didn’t see or hear. This is an adult only resort more geared to the middle aged and golf lovers. The beach was beautiful as always. We shall return.

Club Kawama: horrible stay

food was disgusting ,inedible,no hot water,paper thin hard mattress ,rude unfriendly staff,no butter ,long queus for buffet,no vodka ,just terrible dont stay here and its not the embargo stayed at muthu playa in december food was delicious and had no issues at all how i regret booking this hotel

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Paradisus princesa del mar

This hotel was advertised to us as a 5 star which was far from the truth...by the end of our week stay new guests said it was now advertised as a 4 star and I’m sure the decline will continue. No fun, freezing pool - only one accessible to regular guests, another one just for ‘royal guests’. Food was terrible, no fun, lacked entertainment - changed our sheets and TOWELS only the day before we left! ALL WEEK THEY FOLDED UP OUR DIRTY TOWELS AND REPLACED THEM! All guests said the same, place  [... read more]was crap...would’ve been okay if we got the week for like $600. Literally no entertainment, bartenders were no fun, nothing to do. Would never recommend this place don’t even want to think about it. The food you know is bad, we don’t go to Cuba for the food though so that’s whatever. Don’t book excursions through air transat either - especially not day trips to Havana. Save yourselves.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Nice Resort

The hotel was clean, grounds were kept nice. It was a large resort although only half was being used. The lobby was beautiful and a very comfy place to hang out in the morning and evening. Our room was brightly painted which made it feel larger. Tons of mosquitos- we think because of being right by the marina. Staff were mostly quite friendly! We were mostly satisfied with our stay.

Hotel Tuxpan: Cute and Quaint Resort

We had a great time at this resort. It was small and staff were friendly. Guests were mostly Russian but pleasant people when you get to know them. The shows every night at 9:30 PM were fun to attend by the pool and bar. The beach is a very close walk to the resort and is absolutely stunning. Try to get a room on the second, third or fourth floor if you can though as we had to switch due to the smell of dampness. Food is not the greatest, but you get to know what's good, and you just sti [... read more]ck to what you know is good. The hop-on hop-off bus is great to get into Varadero and to the marina, but you do have a walk a bit to get to it. Overall, really enjoyed our stay there.

Playa Caleta: Pleasantly surprised!

Grounds were beautiful. Beach was beautiful and safe day and night. Great variety of foods. Fresh breads and fruits every day. Beds were a little uncomfortable but all in all, a great little escape. We did not go with high expectations as the price was excellent. Staff were nice, courteous and helpful!

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Mixed feelings

We have both been to Cuba many times before and we love it and were really looking forward to trying this resort based on the reviews we had read, but sadly we didn't have an ideal experience. There are many positives - it is very clean, the staff are friendly and service is excellent. Our room and the public areas were very clean and comfortable. Also the location is fantastic, the beach gorgeous with plenty of beach chairs and there is lots of activity. However, there were also drawbacks. However the door of our room was not properly sealed (there was a noticeable gap around it, which my husband stuffed with toilet paper at nights - but we always had mosquitoes in the room. Plus it was quite noisy. Our air conditioning and tv both worked well, but our hot water was lacking. It took ages to heat up and then there was just barely a dribble of pressure. Another couple we spoke to stayed in the economy rooms across the street and they were much happier with their renovated suite - so perhaps that is the better option. Finally, we both got sick with stomach complaints, which had never happened to either of us before on our many trips. My husband early into our holiday and me towards the end. We also heard from other guests who were ill. Fortunately there is an excellent health clinic across the street which helped. All in all, we do not feel inclined to visit again, sadly.

Club Karey: Terrible resort and I,ve been to some Doozies

the hotel services were Bad Start with no porters for over1hour,.The roomwas a small square with bathroom no toiletries but half a roll of toilet paper.Had a bath but no plug 2 thin hand towels which were changed once.and a toilet that dripped.It did have air conditioning but no fridge,phone or safety deposit box.There was no outdoor seating and best of all when you opened your door you could look into the next room.The sheets were so thin you could see the pattern on the mattress.Ther was no se [... read more]a view to get to the beach you had to climb up steps no handrail walk through bush and then down to the sands.The beach was not kept very clean and there was a strong undertow in the water Every where you went on the resort there stairs and quite long distances to walk No signs to tell you where things,No one to ask as about 80% of the guests were Russian and Eastern European My russian is none exisistant The food was lots of pickles.salamis sausages No roast beef.It was always cold The food queue Started early so you get something warm or just get food.Salad aplenty But no Desserts,No waiter service Helpyourself Breakfast was the best meal and the pool bar did hamburgers fries.I could go on and on,But I thinkyou get the drift By the way I did manage to get ONE pina colada The pool was the best place to be

Grand Memories Varadero: Great resort

Liked food staff beach pool Felt very safe. Walked on beach & sidewalks outside hotel. All nice & clean. Could have used a extra mattress on cot!!! Only upset with Sunwing not being there for us a few times☹️

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Boo

This resort would have been ok at best if they didn’t keep saying they don’t have things. They kept running out of stuff and the food was more repetitive than other resorts I have been to in Cuba. Probably won’t go back to this side of the island cayo coco side way nicer than Varadero. Also if you are thinking about booking the privilege area wait til you get to resort and bargain with them. We saved a 1000.00 doing this. Definitely will not go back

Paradisus Varadero: Overall pretty good

This resort was generally really nice though did have some short falls. Beach: really lovely white sand, plenty of chairs and shade, no need to go early to reserve. Pools: really nice, seemingly recently renovated, nice and clean. They were renovating the snack bar bathrooms nearest to the pools, so you kind of have to plan your bathroom trips ahead. Room: we stayed in 1122 which had terrific central location but was pretty dated and in need of updating. Poor air conditioning and ki [... read more]nd of musty smell, beds and mattresses were clean though. Lots of storage for your things. Shower had hot water but didn't drain well so it flooded the bathroom. Buffet: overall not the best, repetitive and didn't have standard foods (no bacon at all for the week), but we didn't starve and aren't super picky. Snack bar and beach grill: great food and service at both. A la cartes: Mediterranean and Japanese were both good, the fusion restaurant Bana was so so. Service: was excellent, concierge, bartenders, gardeners, servers across the board were great, attentive and positive. Sometimes they ran out of things but always tried to make it work. Tips were appreciated but we still got great service when we didn't have any money on us. Bugs: lots and lots of mosquitos, bring bug repellant and then pack more. Money: we brought Canadian and exchanged it for CUC. There is a little bank kiosk near the entrance of the hotel and had essentially the same rates as the airport, maybe 1-2 CUC less. Very convenient though. Internet: only available in the lobby. You have to connect with a card that has a username and password. Each card is 1 hour of internet, and they were giving these out for free. Everyday you can get 2 cards per person per room (4 total). But you have to go back to get more everyday. This hotel was very good value for money, so it was an enjoyable stay for us. Certainly it could be improved by some room and food upgrades, but it was still overall pretty good. A little bit on the quiet side, there wasn't much nightlife, but we were after relaxation so that was just fine.

Brisas Del Caribe: Very good resort

The hotel complex is very large and with beautiful landscaping and pristine beach.The only problem here is that this resort is filled with rude russians that pushed their way in front of any line up especially the buffet.Most staff are very nice and also the guards especially Yueinsky and Luis who were extremely helpful to arrange safe transportation for us.Lots of insects at this resort so dont forget bug spray.Lots of people walking around with tons of welts from insect bites.I will not go bac [... read more]k because of the infestations of Russians. They were noisy and getting into trouble where police had to show up and have him removed from the resort because due to to his intoxication he was touching other female guest.

Melia Varadero: Great beach, food is challenging

The hotel was clean and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Staff did not seem to expect to be tipped but were grateful when we did. The beach is beautiful and the water is completely free of weeds or stones. Nothing to really see while snorkeling but I’m sure you could find spots further down the beach. The pool is too cold to swim - they must be adding cold water constantly. The hotel is a quick cab ride away from the main strip which has flea markets, a “mallâ [... read more]€ and The Beatles bar - which has live English rock. The only bad experience was the food. The inability to import food was evident in the lack of variety at the restaurants (very limited) and the empty store shelves. The a la carte restaurants were good and provided some relief. Not sure I’ll go back to Cuba while there are such restrictive embargoes in place.

Fabulous staff couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of Staff members.Eddy ,Rene,Freddy . But the food Was not up to my liking. But to each their own ,I have been to Cuba dozens of time .You get what you pay for .

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: A beautiful place for a relaxing get away!

Only 30 minutes from the airport. There is not one thing I would change about this trip. Hotel room was clean, well stocked the air conditioning worked amazing. A huge tub, lots of hot water all around perfect room set up. The grounds were very well maintained. Very clean. Pool was spotless. Beach was breathtaking, we spent every day there. Plenty of lounging beach chair. Not one flea in sight. No vendors bothering you on the beach at all. Staff and bartenders were fantastic. Polite [... read more], pleasant and always smiling. The food was fantastic. So much fish, shrimp and lobster. Yum! Omelets every morning for breakfast. Lots of variety and delisous. We went to Havanna, the bus tour was 10 hours long and every minute enjoyable. I am so glad we did this excursion. The city was beautiful. Bus trip in to varadero. The market was so fun. Saw the Beatles cafe. Was not harassed by the vendors once. Purshaced lots of sourvienors They were very polite. We felt very safe touring around on foot. Nightly entertainment at 930. Always a good show. Very relaxing and recharging trip. Just way we were looking for.

We stayed at Turquesa the be live resort that was 4 star, great value great trip! This resort had good buffet options! service was great and our teavel agent from trip central,Marcela was absolutely great and got us a great last minute deal! thank you!
