Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Comfortable Stay

The Grand Bahia San Juan is a clean pleasant place to stay. Hot water was not a regular occurrence in our room and we had to call the desk for it a few times. Otherwise the room was clean and well cared for and the beds were comfortable. The beach was covered in seaweed while we were there and were told it was the time of year. We visited all restaurants and enjoyed each one thoroughly. The buffet had a variety of foods available and all was well prepared and tasty. The water activities wer [... read more]e fun but be prepared that Easter Weekend a lot of things shut down and there are fewer staff available. The Atlantic Ocean is not a great place to snorkel. The sun was hot and the pools were beautiful. .

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Casa Marina Reef Resort - Great Resort on a Small Budget

This is not my first trip to Casa Marina Beach/Reef Resort in Sosua. First off I always get treated with VIP perks. I guess because the reception recognize me because I frequent there so often. I always seem to get upgraded to the better rooms ( main floor and close to the buffet restaurants ) I have requested to stay at the Beach resort side and they were fully accommodating onsite. Normally this is part of the rainy season. It’s always a hit and miss. I lucked out but I had friends that went in November 2016 and got flooded (different resort) Food is always perfection at the resturantes. Buffet can get a little repetitive. However with Sosua being a little town, there’s plenty of great restaurants around town to try out. I always feel safe in the town of Sosua. There’s two beaches Playa Alesia and Sosua beach which is on a cove…very calm crystal clear waters. The nightlife is also great. Plenty of bars and clubs to fit your styles and moods. Along Sosua beach is plenty of street vendors to barter with for souvenirs. Back to the hotel, the rooms are decent, somewhat upgraded. Always had hot running water. And bar fridge was always stocked with non alholic drinks. Cleaning came once a day and if you needed more towels just ask. The maid service there is always great. Better to leave a tip every now and then. They will treat you like Royalty. Same goes for the restaurants. If you tip them, they will come back to serve you anything you pretty much request (within reason) What I enjoyed was that some of the waiters knew my favorite drinks and would serve it up while watching the shows. Speaking of shows, Casa Marina’s entertainment is very up to par with a 5 star resort. Great nighttime shows. Even for the little ones. The animation crew (poolside staff) are always very friendly as they try to get the crowd in on the games and activities. Overall, I had a great experience on my last trip. Do I recommend it. Always!!! Will I go again……You betcha!!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort great people

Hotel grounds was just beautiful.felt like we were in the rain forest. I loved the gorgeous lush mou rains that we can see anywhere we were in the resort. Staff from waiters. Cleaners to entertainers and bartenders were incredible We have nothing but great things to say about the riu bachata. A wonderful 7 days with many memories .

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: 100% wheelchair accessible!!

This hotel is 100 percent wheelchair accessible and the staff are very helpful and go out of their way to ensure your stay is stress free and enjoyable! I travel with my friend who is a quadriplegic and uses an electric wheelchair and we had absolutely no issues with this resort. The resort is all on level ground and there is also a board walk that allows a wheelchair to go up to the ocean! The food is to die for and the entertainment is very good! Riu Merengue: Perfect resort

This is a beautiful resort which I have stayed at before. Friendly staff, long beach with both shade and sun. Food was wonderful with lots of selection and options (riu bachata breakfast and lunch along with pools, bars, etc included). Shows were quite good (don't miss the diva, magic and audience participation ones). Rooms were very well kept, current and large. Small shopping street with the standard tourist items. Offers all the basic tours. It is a little isolated tho but great in my books if you just want a relaxing get away. Sand is tan (not white) and water not as clear as other places such as Mexico and Cuba (which I don't mind). Dive shop on site. Lots of water sports as well. Highly recommend. Taking a group next time.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: It's an ok resort

The rooms where clean and the cleaning staff was very nice. There is no lobby bar or any inside bar unless it's in the restaurant which closes when the restaurant closes. The al a carted are not great and the buffets are the same thing everyday. Some staff are very friendly but most are not. The recreation staff spend most of thier time sitting on the beach trying to get free drinks

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing Resort, thumbs up

The resort is perfect size and location. The staff are ALL amazing and will do anything for you. The rooms and grounds clean and pretty. Food was also perfect with lots of selection, something for everyone and never really a line up. Fruit was fresh, big plus in my mind. The beach was also perfect, you can walk for miles either way. I would actually recommend purchasing from them as you can "barter" NEVER accept the price they want to sell anything to you for. Another plus is the Rock Sports Bar, must go!!! We did the Monster Buggy Excursion, booked with our agent. It was alot of fun and reasonable price. Check in and out was easy. This was our second time to VH and loved it as much as the first. Also, the only resort ever that responded to our requests and they were met, above and beyond. VH is our "home away from home" Thanks to the management and staff for their attention to detail and for making us feel like family. Special shout out to "Louie" (Pool Bartender)...He is the best, keep him on staff for our next visit. Entertainment was also excellent. PS....can you speak to mother nature and ask her to hold off on the rain for our next trip....LOL XOXO Can't wait to return.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Had a relaxing vacation!,

Blue bay was a nice small resort, the staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help. Food was good, always found something to eat at the Buffet, the BBQ night was great but way too much meat, beautiful huge beach great for walking Had a nice stay with friends. Cheers

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Fantastic Spa

I loved the Paradise Island excursion. It was a beautiful beach and the staff were great. I had the best massage ever and would highly recommend it. The view of the beach at the resort was beautiful. The rooms could use some updating.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: This was the best vacation ever - A Fabulous Resort

The food was first rate. The rooms were very tastefully decorated and clean. We couldn't get over the comfortable surroundings. Always a comfortable chair or shade with a great cocktail available to help you enjoy yourself. Three pools to choose from and a very nice beach. Resort was immaculate. The property was really well maintained. The staff was incredible. Very friendly and attentive. We were both completely satisfied. We miss it already. We'd go back for sure.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Wonderful Resort

The Iberostar Costa Dorada had one of the best layouts we have ever seen at a resort. Everything was so close. The beach is practically beside the pool. Check in was very easy, although you cannot check into your room until 3:00 pm however, the resort gives you a beach towel and a changing room to continue on with your day. The grounds are immaculate and  [... read more]the resort workers were very friendly. We did tip (in American dollars) and although not necessary it was very welcomed. One worker didn't even want to take my tip but I insisted. It was only a $1. The only drawback was the extreme wind on the beach which meant the red flag was up and we were not allowed to swim in the ocean the majority of the time we were there. Not sure if the high winds is the norm or just the time of year we were there. Also, during the Easter weekend the pool was extremely packed. It appears Dominicans traditionally visit the resorts for the Easter Weekend. It was a very busy weekend , it seemed like the resort was over capacity. Beach was nice, but not as nice as Cuban beaches. There were two areas, one side with huts and the other side there were trees that provided shade which added to the beach experience. Lounge chairs were easy to find both at the beach and pool. If you wanted a to sit in a specific area, there were always chairs available. Never been to a resort that had so many lounge chairs.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Great Resort

Just back from a week's vacation at this resort. Stayed from April 15-22/17. Great spot. Although we had rain most of the week, we were still able to find something to do. There was entertainment each night. The shows were awesome. The staff was extremely friendly and always happy, even on the rainy days. Our maid was amazing. Would definitely go back again.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Great place!

This is the 3rd time I have stayed at this resort and this time I stayed for 2 weeks. The main beach is great for swimming but was rough for several days so on those days I stayed near the pool. There are 3 bars at the ocean side and 3 restaurants and 3 pools. The view from the new bar beside the Jacuzzis is a great place to enjoy the view of the ocean and Puerto Plata in the distance. There are some activities within the resort like the standard pool-side shows, snorkeling, scuba and kaya [... read more]ks. You can walk out the resort right into the town of Sosua to enjoy the nightlife of bars and a discos. There are also the shops along the public Sosua beach. This resort is 15 minutes from Cabarete beach, 15 minutes from Puerto Plata and there are number of other activities like Sea World, zip-lining and horseback riding as well. I met several people from Canada, US and Germany while I stayed there. It was a lot of fun and I intend to go back.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Very nice resort!

We had an excellent week at this resort(no thanks to the weather)...the food was amazing, grounds were beautiful, pools were clean, rooms are a little dated(no big deal), service was top notch. BUT TOO MANY STAIRS!!

Riu Merengue: Excellent holiday

Holiday started great. Room was always very clean, fresh towels daily, they would stock bar fridge every 2nd day. Never had a bug in our room the entire time. Excellent water pressure and always hot water whether morning or night. Food was remarkably good. Breakfast omellettes were fantastic, fresh pastries, coffee pot brought to your table. Smoothie bar. Lunches were okay but if you get a chance to have the special lunch made by the pool at noon, that was a nice surprise (cooked chicken,  [... read more]paella, Mexican pasta and all with a special punch drink). Dinners were very good at buffet. They tried to add different foods nightly, Saturday was the best w a Mexican night. Only went to Steakhouse restaurant because Italian was closed at the Village in mid April. Steakhouse was nice (definitely not Cnd Steak) but no complaints. Wifi was best early morning in lobby and two devices only. Lots of people rely on phones etc so lobby can get busy. Bars were all well stocked, most staff spoke pretty good English. They had different drink specials. The slush machines are okay but as soon as you add the booze they are not as slushy. Beer is Presidente but very good. Saw three shows and you can watch at either resort Merengue or Bachata, they seem to alternate days. (Michael Jackson, African and Magic Show.). All excellent. Unfortunately little to do as far as activities for kids but that could have been because we were in April. Spent most of the time on beach, ping pong, volleyball, and basketball. Village pool is the quietest all pools very clean and you can get fresh towels whenever you want. We didn't have to get up early to reserve a chair at pool. Village tons of chairs and same at beach. Garden area or bachata the chairs under the huts went first. Overall for the price we paid for a family of four we had an excellent time and no real complaints. I would give this resort a solid 3.5/4 star

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Very pretty

The grounds very very nice,but the buffet was terrible to me the food was doring and not good except for breakfast food,the room we stayed in was terrible ,they need a big renovation in the section we were staying in. Mildow on the walls behind the beds, bathroom, lickings in the bathroom tub comin from celling,I dreaded goin to bed at night cause u could smell the mold in the room.I took sick in the middle of my vacation,it wasn't a vacation any more,picked up a bacteria,and still I'll,now that [... read more] I'm home our beautiful Canada with time off of work and visits to the hospital (which I just found out I contract ed salmonella poisoning ,know I have to go for treatments.great place to go NOT!!!!!!. Casa Marina Reef Resort: Great Low budget resort

This is a 3 star resort. The rooms are in need of a upgrade but they were clean. The pool area was great. Always lots of activity going on. Even though the buffet was on the smaller size, the food was good every night. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The beach was OK. Lots of under tow and the waves are high.

Riu Merengue: Awesome and amazing resort

The resort was a beautiful, no complaints what so ever. The flight with Sunwing was perfect and on time. Anyone who does not like the resort don't know what they are talking about because they are wrong. Staff are more than friendly and would help in any way they can. Food at buffets and ala cartes was excellent. Very very clean rooms. Beaches were beautiful. I would definitely visit this resort again in a heartbeat. I can't say enough good about it. Staff at the resort work very very hard to keep it clean and fun for everyone. It is a five star for us.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great resort

This was our second time at this resort. We love the Bahia Principe chain and even though this is an older resort it is a wonderful place to spend a week. The resort is very clean and they are constantly cleaning to keep it that way. The food is great and the gourmet restaurant is one of the best. The biggest thing that sticks out is the staff. Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: wonderful resort.

i thought everything was good about the resort was good except the food was a little under-par for my liking. the pools and beach were nice along with the drinks and service. very clean resort and all the staff were friendly as well, on the scale from 1-10 i would give the resort a 8.
