Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Fantastic small resort
This is one of the best resorts available if you looking for a quite, peaceful and not at all crowded experience. The beach is small but amazing, the sun rise catches it in the morning and make for a wonderful view. The restaurants have a beautiful view of the water, as does the sunset bar. The staff is upbeat, very attentive and happy to help in any way they can. The food is very good and the al la carta are easy to book as the resort has many amenities for the small number of rooms. This is a [... read more]amazing and very quiet, relaxing resort. Definitely a great place to site back and unwind!

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Great Escape
Beautiful resort. Great staff. Great food. Nice room.
Shuttles were very fast and efficient.
Main pool was very nice.
Main beach was also a nice place to be.
The smaller beach was great because everything around it was natural and it was a nice quiet place to spend time.
Royal Golden services were below par as compared to the Royal Golden at El Portillo. Hardly ever saw an employee in the RG room.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great resort
Place was great staff were very accommodating, comfy clean rooms, once we figured out the resort map getting around was easy to walk or jump in a shuttle. Buffet had many choices, Restaurants were great, recommend you book these as soon as you get in. Met many people who have been coming to resort for over eight years so hearing that we knew we were in the right place. Managed to play golf and go snorkeling and tour of caves underwater very cool. Travel to resort was on large bus very comfy[... read more] return to airport was in a van. I would definitely go back again. Weather was fabulous we missed many snow storms in Ontario.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Safe Robbery! Watch Out Your Money!!
The worst experience ever! I have never been this much insulted, feared about my safety, and treated poorly in any of my other trips.
I have left a lengthy review on the other major travel website (Trip Advidor) and have uploaded the videos on YouTube with the title of 'Safe Robbery at Bahia Principe Akumal' for anyone whom is interested too read and see the truth behind all the pretty marketing this hotel does.
Do not believe the bad reviews, the resort is awesome. The grounds are impeccable, the pools are very well kept. The service in the bars and restaurants are excellent. Lots of loungers, both shade and sun. The rooms are very well appointed. Good selection of food at the buffet and Don Pablo was very good. If you want white sand and crystal clear blue water , you won't find it here. The beach is a nice long walking beach. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Plan to return.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Love this resort people are amazing!!!!
We stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum the hotel is really big but it's beautiful grounds are incredible the rooms need a face lift very basic but very clean the only thing was when we entered the room there was a musty smell they tried to fix it by giving the room a deep clean and put an humidifier in the room but it did not get much better they also wanted to change our room but we only had a few days left so we decided to stay... the customer service is fantastic they do everything to hel[... read more]p you, food was good... the best was the entertainment live music until 11:00 pm for people that like to dance this place is wonderful. The animation team make your stay incredible to do all the activities you need to stay at the main pool lots to do. Beach is okay first few days water and sand very clean but then we got lots of wind and rainfall so we got all the seaweed but they try to clean it up. I would return to this hotel.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Robbed and Insulted in Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal
The worst costumer service I ever experienced in my entire life!
We were three couples and a single friend who wanted to have a great vacation time in Mexico but our vacation turned into our worst trip ever due to the way that this so called "LUXURY" resort treated us!!!
We arrived at the resort on Friday Feb 1 just before midnight and we had to wait for 2 hours to check in because they did not have available rooms and they were short-staffed. He ended up giving us double beds instead of a qu[... read more]een bed or a king (Room 7322) cause nothing else was available!!! Although this was inconvenience, we thought we could still enjoy our stay, but it only gets worse from here.
On the second night, my wife tripped over a broken tile next to our room and got bruises on her leg as a result. I wanted to report this to the hotel director, Vannesa, but she refused to give me an incident report form and did not even fix the broken tile over our stay. So, I decided to record the incident on tape and upload it here.
And FINALLY, on Wednesday, we wanted to buy some excursions when we realized $100USD was missing from our wallet which was locked in the SAFETY BOX!! We told our friends and guess what $120USD was also missing from our friends (AGAIN the money that was LOCKED in the SAFE BOX). Immediately, we reported this robbery to the hotel security and two security guards and a manager showed up 30 min later. They asked us few questions and told us to fill out the robbery forms and THEN they started SEARCHING our rooms and our BAGGAGE!!!!! like we stole our own money!!!! THIS IS SO WRONG AND INSULTING!!! The next morning Vannesa, the director, and three security guys came to our room to investigate the safety box. They downloaded the date and times that the safe was opened and closed (49 TIMES!!!!!) and erased the safe memory. She called us in the evening and told us the investigation is complete and they closed this case, as they do not believe anyone broke into our safe and stole our money. We asked for an official letter with the investigation results, she refused. We then asked her to provide us all the dates and times that our safe box were opened to cross reference them with our group photos and our restaurant reservations to help them understand that during some of those times we were having dinner at the restaurants and could not be physically in our room. BUT SHE REFUSED AGAIN!!!!! This is not a cheap resort, but even with a luxury hotel something ridiculous like this could still happen! Be Careful!
I would never visit this HOTEL AGAIN and obviously would not recommend it to anyone. For THOSE who are in this HOTEL please count you money in your SAFE BOX!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Good!
We visited the Bahia from January 25th, until February 3rd. As many have said, the resort is about an hour away from the airport (bumpy drive) but not a big deal. It is important to note that this is the first of the Bahia Principe chain & has not been updated in years (if ever). It is much smaller than many of the other Bahias, but still beautiful & ALWAYS clean.
We had absolutely no problems with our rooms. The AC was perfect; the shower, although low on pressure, always had hot water; the[... read more] maids work VERY hard and our room was always clean by 1PM. The hotel does not offer free WIFI, but you can purchase it for the week for $12 Canadian at the lobby (it worked great all through the resort). Do not purchase the one that appears when you try to log on yourself, it will say $70… Go to the lobby & they will pick the right one! Check in/out were both easy as well.
The food at the resort was good. Not amazing, but not horrible. The buffet was a little repetitive, but the food was good. It was a very typical buffet with enough of a variety each day to make sure everyone had a choice. Breakfast was the best in my opinion as they had an egg, and omelette station every morning. Much like the rest of the resort, the service of the buffet staff was great. They work very hard to please everyone! The A-La-Cartes were amazing! We did all three; The Mediterranean, The Takera, as well as the Dolce Vita (Italian). These were defiantly our best meals of the week, so I do recommend booking them. We went on our first day, and had no problems booking all three… Don’t wait until the middle of the week, and you won’t have a problem (this is common with ALL resorts).
The pool is great! It was over 30 degrees every day, so the pool was the perfect place to cool off. The pool-bar was a little slow, but I do feel they are a little understaffed in that area. However, they were all awesome! They knew our choice of drinks a few days in. The Beach is okay… It does have a lot seaweed and shells along the shore, but we didn’t mind. Punta Cana has nicer beaches, but we knew this going there so we were not disappointed. It was still beautiful!
It was a pretty quiet resort. It always depends on the group of people staying at the resort at the same time as you. We didn’t seem to have too many young groups, more couples (wanting to be stay low) so that probably added to the lack of stuff going on. There weren’t too many games throughout the day, which are usually fun but we still stayed busy!
Overall our stay here at Bahia San Juan was great. We have been to so many different resorts, all throughout the Caribbean & we still enjoyed our week here & then some. Some people on here seem to be expecting a world class resort, and that is simply not the case when you’re paying the cheaper price to stay here. The staff were all beyond amazing. They were helpful, polite, and truly seemed to love working there. Everyone was friendly, and always willing to help! Eddy & Rafael made our day every single day at the buffet. Rosanna was very sweet. Waldy in the Lobby was very helpful and defiantly knew what he was doing! Joel & Juan, and the entire entertainment staff were awesome as well. Amazing staff indeed!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Great value - luxury treatment
Overall, a great vacation for either young or old. Martine Reid of Trip Central took care of all the details, making the booking easy.
Lots to do at Bahia, and a vast selection of food to suit my sensitive dietary needs (good quality healthy food selection and preparation was my priority and that was thankfully met). Royal Golden option is worth it - you get your own concierge, your own check-in office where you sit down with drinks and check in and book all your reservations, your own beach [... read more]towels, robes & slippers in your room, lots of drinks all the time, and a discount at the spa.
The only thing I would nitpick right off the bat is the room cleaning & restocking was strangely inconsistent (we were in the royal golden ocean view section 18, 5th floor). Examples: We booked two rooms in this section. Room A received the complimentary bottle of rum, Room B didn't; Room B received coffee daily, Room A didn't until the very last day; both rooms were without any floor bath mat and/or hand towels/face cloth at least one day out of the week; Room B had the toilet cleaned, while room A didn't for two consecutive days! Who knows what else wasn't done, but I didn't dare dwell on that thought...and we did tip in US $ every day for both rooms.
Now, with that awkward part out of the way, I will say this:
The wraparound pool is great, I joined the aqua-aerobics, which I enjoyed. Note the pool is not heated, so you need to work up a sweat to stay warm. Tip: bring a small beach ball to play catch. The grounds are very pretty, with well cared for gardens to offer lots of perfect family photo ops.
The beach is so close, you roll out of bed and you are there (tip: go out early before breakfast to pick the perfect lounge chair spot in the shade). Note: in Jan/Feb, the ocean water in Runaway bay is cold (if you are used to the warm Cuban waters), so it's best btwn. 10am-12. Tip: wear water shoes and enter the ocean water from the west side of the beach closer to the far beach bar where the sand is smooth with no rocks upon entering the water (there are too many little jagged rocks at the mouth of the water along the east side towards the water park).
The a la carte restaurant La Dolce Vita was the best, for location (it's on the beach), greatest service & top notch authentic food. Don Pablo had great fish dishes and appetizers, but their steak wasn't up to par, and they didn't have the flambe banana dessert, so we settled for the apple dessert - I have never been served a tougher more rubbery apple core in all my life (that is the part we toss away/feed the squirrels). Orquidea main buffet restaurant was grand, with great service & great food & great coffee (exceeded my expectations, and I am a picky eater). Tip: go to meals early when they first open (7am, 1pm, 6pm) and be the first in line at the grill station to get whatever they are cooking, it's always good no matter what they put on the grill. Tip: try the local Jamaican fruit (Jamaican apple, star apple, papaya, pineapple, soursop), some taste like bland lichees, but it's the island taste and packed with vitamins, and goes great with the drinks. Tip: for water, we were still careful to drink only bottled water, just to be safe.
The nightly entertainment is good, go see the Michael Jackson tribute show if offered, catch the real steel band, and do some dancing at the beach party / lobby party / night club at the village for that real Jamaican vibe. With all this plus excursions, the week went by fast.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Pampered relaxation!
We thoroughly enjoyed our family vacation at Bahia Principe Coba! So many options we didn't even explore 'cause we just loved to relax by the pool. Spacious rooms, extensive, varied buffet and fabulous a-la-carte restaurants! And so safe!! We lost a purse but staff found it and returned it, not a penny missing! Never worried when I'm at Bahia Principe resorts, never had a bad experience, lovely people and attention to detail everywhere.
Will definitely go back again!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Amazing resort
We absolutely love this resort. We have been twice now and highly recommend staying here. The first time we stayed on the Don Pablo adults only side and it was fantastic and so worth it. So many added perks and the pool party was bumping. The private beach with butler service was a nice touch. This time we went with family and the water park is incredible. It kept the kids busy all day. The beach access was extremely close and made the view extra beautiful. The buffet on the beach serves the [... read more]best jerk chicken I have ever had. It’s a gorgeous spot to enjoy a tasty lunch. The outdoor pavilion with the theatre stage and souvenir shops was ideal. Every night they have an event going on. The beach party was incredible and one of the best evenings we had was there. The staff are welcoming and so nice. The staff took time to interact with my nephews and by the end of the week became friends with them. This was a family hit with all that came. We will definitely be back to the Bahia!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Definitely not a 5 star
Was not a 5 star hotel ,stayed one night and changed hotels ( as well as 5 other couples did. ). We all moved to Akumal .
The toilet did not work properly , room was older and definitely needs some repairs. There were stains on the he walls . The buildings are old and definitely showing there age.
The buffet food was definitely 3 star quality not even close to 5 star. The drinks watered down and service slow .
The whole reservation system is a joke and changes daily. Even the formal res[... read more]turants were not up to 5 star. ( they let people in that were not dressed properly ) After spending one night we could not wait to check out and move over to the new hotel .
I would rate the hotel at best a 3 star. Don't waste your time just book another hotel.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Relaxing Vacation
This is our third time at the Luxury Bahia Sian Ka’an. We checked in around 5pm, it was fast and efficient. Our luggage was promptly brought to our room. Booking our alacartes was easy.
Food at buffet was very fresh and all 4 of us enjoyed it.
We often took the shuttle to the beach early and had breakfast at Akumal buffet or the infinity pool at Akumal which is right on the beach.
We appreciated how hard the team at the Sian Ka’an beach worked to clean up the seaweed - I feel like w[... read more]e had the best and cleanest beach on that strip!
Staff was so friendly with us and we had fun watching them interact with each other and laughing. They genuinely seem happy working here. Many of the servers have been working there for 7+ years!
Brand name liquor such as Beefeater Gin, Tanqueray, Havana Club 7, Don Julio etc. was appreciated.
Excellent service!
Very relaxing
We had great weather and spent every day at the beach! One of our best vacations.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: 2nd time at this resort
This was our 2nd time visiting GBP Tulum. The food is excellent, grounds beautifully kept, plenty of loungers at the pools & beach and the people who work at the resort still pleasant as ever especially Gabriel at the Tequila restaurant! The front desk at check in was very good to move us to the section we stayed in last time however were unable to accommodate a room with a king sized bed. Even though I was willing to pay to upgrade our room or move to Akumal section they said there was still no[... read more]thing available. It was a little disappointing as my husband and I have been married for over 25 years so it was very odd to sleep in separate beds. My recommendation to the resort is when allowing clients to book thier vacations thru travel agencies to specify if you want a double or king bed like I have seen other resorts do so. This was our 1st time flying with WestJet and was surprised to find out we had to pay for each bag we were checking on the way there ($30 CAD) and on our flight home ($30USD). This came into effect as of Jan 1st. So it really wasn’t cheaper to book with WestJet as once you add the cost of bags we checked it would’ve been cheaper to book with Air Canada Rouge. Overall the money we spent was well worth it. We would definitely stay at this resort again.
