Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Just amazing!

We've just arrived home from a weeks holiday. What a wonderful week it was! Everything was perfect. The staff, the rooms, the food, the beach, the whole environment was just wonderful. We will definitely return!

Occidental Punta Cana: Nice resort

Food needs improvement house keeping is slow. Need more speaking English. The resort is beautiful over all. The beach could be more groomed. I don't think I would go back. The hotel is very nice. The shows were really good. Drinks well you know.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Jungle Gem

Just returned from one week at the Occidental Xcaret. Great room, good food, lots of acres to wander, wonderful staff. No disappointments. Large pools, beautiful lobby and music every evening. This is a great resort for couples or families.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Like going home

This is not our first stay at the Barcelo Palace in Punta Cana. We go there because we need to rest and relax . The rooms are always clean, food always wonderful and the staff are lovely. Next year we will be going back but for longer. We love our Dominican Palace, it's like going home

Allegro Cozumel: Can't wait for our third stay

We came back to the Allegro for a second time and were not disappointed. It's so comforting to return to somewhere familiar. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, great beach, food variety, fun bartenders, great location.

Occidental Costa Cancun: Cool

Jai vraiment aimer le manger les spectacles et la piscine la plage un peux petite pour la chambre ne prenais jamais chambre 156 tres bruyant a coter du restaurant mais il nous ont changer a un autre so apres supert a plus pour la propreter

Barcelo Karmina: Beautiful Resort!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Barcelona Karmina, the staff were all very helpful and friendly, the waiters/waitresses in buffet and all restaraunts/bars were extremely efficient. The pools: Amazing! We loved them, so pretty and not much of a problem to find chairs (we were a group of 5, so had to move around a bit when needing some shade) we had a lot of fun playing basketball, and the waterslide was actually pretty fast! The Iguanas that were roaming around were great too, there is one that sits on the bush by the pool nearly every day, looks like he loves the music too! The rooms: We had an ocean view junior suite, very nice but only double beds available if you don't book a king bed. We had 2 adults and 16 year old. Could book a king bed, some of the couches are pullouts, but not overly comfy! The beds were VERY hard, none of us slept that well. Bathrooms are gorgeous and housekeeping was great. Beautiful view from balcony, air conditioning was efficient AND quiet! We paid for wifi, it was really good in the room, made my son very happy!!! The beach: beach is small, but nice. Wear water shoes! Especially if wading around, there are tons of fishes right there, makes for great snorkelling.. but... don't stand on the rocks. I did, and within 10 seconds something took a go at my foot!! Scared the life outta me, but didn't break skin, just a scratchy grab... I still can't believe it LOL The Food: buffet was always good, we were always able to find a full delicious meal. There are 3 restaraunts, Japanese and Italian were best, the agave, while the location is absolutely beautiful wasn't the greatest. It was ok, but felt rushed and food wasn't all that good. (Heard a few people got sick after eating the lobster dinner) A few in our group had little bouts with GI issues, not sure though exactly what the cause of it was.. I ended up extremely sick on the day after we returned to Canada, can't say for sure though what the cause was... Nightly Shows: Ok. Just ok.. we didn't bother after the first one. The entertainers work hard, but just wasn't for us. All in all, we enjoyed our trip immensely, despite the few negatives!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Something To Do For Everyone

This hotel is amazing. It is very large and entails some walking but my husband, who walks with a cane, found that it was okay. There were several restaurants to dine in and the selection was amazing. We really liked the buffets. The staff was very helpful and went out of there way to assist us with anything we needed. Alfredo and Caesar were great waiters and anticipated anything you needed. The buffet had a different theme each day for dinner (ie. Italian, American, etc). They went  [... read more]out of their way to decorate with balloons, etc. On the American day they had cakes decorated like the American and Canadian flag. I was amazed at how well the children behaved. We hardly knew they were there. The parents were very "hands on" and really enjoyed their time with their children. The room was great. There was an elevator in each section. The bed was comfortable. Water pressure was superb. We had a great person looking after our room. There was a line to hang you wet bathing suits out on the balcony which was handy. There was a double decker bus that ran all the time to take the guests to various areas of the resort - Dolphin show, Mini Golf, Mayan Mall (they don't take cash or debit but take credit cards or if you arrange it, you can charge your purchases to your room) The prices at the mall were fair - much cheaper than the airport - and they didn't harass you to buy from them but let you look at your leisure. They also had a water park. The pool was beautiful. The beach was a bit rocky and when we were there it was fairly rough as it was so windy. We went on an excursion to Cozumel Island and that was enjoyable. Our tour guides were Monti, Nicole and Maria. They were great. Monti was really entertaining and certainly knew his history and information about the flora and fauna of the area. He made the trip very interesting and humorous. We saw a Sea Lion Show and visited Crocodiles. Also, had a tequila tasting visit which was enlightening. Part of the trip involved driving a jeep. A lot of fun! We also went to see the Matis Silver factory. Beautiful items and certainly worth visiting. We met people who had been at this resort several times. One man told me that this was his tenth visit. We would go back again, for sure.

Barcelo Montelimar: Amazing resort

Everything about the resort was amazing. We have no complaints at all. We can't wait to go back!!! The staff was friendly, the views were out of this world. Nicaragua was by far the most beautiful place I've ever been to. The pools were nice and the resort is clean. I would recommend it to anybody. It's paradise!!!

Barcelo Tambor: Very nice resort

The resort was very clean, the rooms cleaned daily and the mini bar refilled. The food was AWFUL.If you like rice with beans or plain rice go to this resort. Every meal was very bland, WE ATE OFF OF THE KIDS BUFFET. We asked for fresh fish for lunch one day and received a processed white fish you would get out of the freezer section at your local grocery store.At the AL-a-cart restaurant we had a hard time making our self's understood because most of the staff could NOT speak English.We would  [... read more]not go back to this resort, it is not a 4 star resort, we would rate it at maybe a 3.

Occidental Costa Cancun: very nice resort

its was a nice resort ,,1 night wee hade the room 156 and its beside the mexicain restaurent and we didn't sleep for 3 nignt ,,the clean after the restaurant its closed and we didn't sleep,,so after the 3 night we asks to be change room ,,they put us in 435 and its was super ,,the restaurent a la carte the have 3 its very excellent ,,,the buffet was ok ,,the beach to small and the water was very nasty ,,but the pool was nice ,,,the thing they need is a pool bar ,,but every things was very good  [... read more],,,oupp no internet at this hote,l sad ,,,but well it was a nice vacation...

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great vacation

Stayed at the Barcelo Maya Colonial from March 2nd till the 9th. Loved the resort and all it had to offer The place was spotless everywhere and the pools were amazing. There is so much to see and do at the resort that there was no reason to leave, unless you wanted to explore the ruins and other things. This place with the five resorts in one is huge, but we managed to visit them all. We even spent time at the palace. Didn't even know we were there as we thought we were still at the Tropical. Th [... read more]ey just run into each other and no one said a word to us as we ate and drank like everyone else. The place was packed so we had a bit harder time finding chairs at the pool but the beach always had lots of chairs. They even had waitresses at the pools and the beach which, was a nice touch and you did not have to wait long for them appear at all. The staff was extremely hard working and very pleasant to deal with I would go back to this resort in a heart beat. It is far and away the best resort we have been to at this price, and we have been to a lot of them all over the Caribbean and Mexico. I cannot rate this 5 stars because the bathrooms are not any better than average and there were a couple of worms on the bathroom floor every morning. Also the pillows were hard as rocks. I rolled up a bath towel for use as a pillow.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Room to improve

Check in was very slow. Stayed in line for close to 2h. Wifi not free... very desapointed for a 4+ star resort. Ground was beautiful. Room could be renovated. Beach where beautiful but no umbrella, very desapointed. Buffet could be improved but a la carte was amazing. Paided way to much for a 4 days stay.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort- would go back again

The food was great. The resort was large and there were so many things to do such as bowling alley, water park, dolphin attraction. No complaints. Would go again. We didn't bring kids but looked like a great place for kids.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: What an amazing Week!

Amazing beach, such a massive resort that you will always find something to do. We would definitley return to this resort. I reccomend the Caribe or Beach section - super close to everything. We just happened to luck out and get a room 60 steps from the bar / mall. The buffet food could have been better but neither of us got sick once and we always found something to eat. The buffet had over 100 choices each time but most times the food was lukewarm, cold or super dry. To be fair they do ha [... read more]ve a lot of options for hot meal - pasta station, grill station and panini press. I had pasta one day towards the end and a panini and it was so great to have something HOT. All the bartenders were fantastic, service is best at strikers Victor and Alfredo were my favourite :) there was days at the pool bar we were waiting 15-20 mins for a drink but that wasn't a regular thing. I loved the fact this resort is so big! We got lots of exercise walking around . We are planning on returning one day. I got a lot of mosquito bites while at this resort .. make sure to bring spray! Tips : Bring extra sunscreen ! We went through so much - had to buy some from the beach shop $37USD! Tipping does not change the level of service you get which I found odd. We brought $100 USD for tips but it doesnt make the service any quicker. They do appreciate them though and definitely deserve it Eat & pasta station and grill station if you like your food to be hot. Ask for a ground level room and you'll have sun chairs to lounge in! If you want to save money on excursions we took a collectivo (shuttle) to playa del carmen & tulum. Cost us 80 pesos (2 people) you'll need to cross the highway so be careful ! We went and saw the ruins in tulum and 5th Ave in playa del carmen. The whole thing cost us around 380 pesos - about 25 Canadian .. so much better than the over priced tours ! There are a few cenotes across the main entrance of the hotel that are inexpensive . We ran out of time but you can research on a map. Cenote azul and Khi chen? Cenotes.

Occidental Punta Cana: Great hotel!

I just got back from one week holiday, March 1st to March 8th, I had a great room building #26, renovated room, pool view and to the right the beach! The food was good, there's something for everyone, I really like the Mexican A La Carte, I didn't like the Italian, I had chicken parmesan which was deep fried, I'm use to being baked but I heard lots of people were having steak there and it was good. I didn't find the service that great. I had a wonderful time it was very clean and safe. One thing would of been nice is to be able to go to the gym anytime, we had to wait until 8:00 a.m. for the guy to open it, would of been better if we could of use our key card.

Barcelo Karmina: 1st Class Resort

I must say' this was an amazing resort. - my first impression of lobby, impressive - service from bell people, so kind and helpful, then stepped into our room, and wow, it was beautiful, view from balcony, breathtaking. - food was artfully presented and tasted better than it looked. - service, amazing, - pools and swimming area, so beautiful and clean. -excursions were great, could have caught more fish, but that's fishing. -we absolutely had a great fault and enjoyed our stay

Barcelo Maya Palace: Barcelo Palace is now a Kids resort

We have been at this resort 3rd time and I have seen a definitive downturn. Poor service at the front desk. They need training. Also they insist in taking a credit card for incidentals. Be aware! If there are wongful charges no one will help you! AC DID NO WORKED FOR A FULL DAY! They stopped electricity for a half day. People working there are nice. I recommend the beach resort instead and the Maya mall.

Occidental Costa Cancun: Quaint and lovely!

The resort was quite small but what it lacked in size was made up for by the hospitable staff and amazing food. The evening entertainment was ok but lacked variety and with the resort not offering a disco or evening music it made for somewhat boring nights. Unless we had a late dinner ate in of the three amazing restaurants or buffet. There was good for everyone's tastes and we always had full bellies! I'm not sure we will return based on our love of dancing and music. But, overall the experience was great and relaxing.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great resort

Large updated resort with lots to do. Multiple large pools. Awesome sandy beach. Lots of chairs and trees for shade. Exceptional service in restaurants with multiple options, both casual and formal. Most enjoyable resort. Staff very friendly and professional.
