We have gone there 9 times now and loved every minute. Even if the lobby bar was under construction it did not damper the mood of the visitors or the staff. Beach was as awesome as ever and the resort gets better every time we go there. Can't wait til next year
We enjoy our visit again to this resort the service is excellent, food also very good people very polite & friendly will recommend this resort to our friends & family. I like to take my walk in the morning all around the surroundings

Playa Costa Verde: We love this place!
We love Playa Costa Verde. As repeat visitors we were extremely happy to be back. The grounds are lovely, the beach is exceptional and our rooms were diligently maintained and comfortable.
The staff at the hotel are the best!! Genuinely warm, friendly and a lot of fun. we really wanted for nothing.
The hobby cats are a huge treat and we made sure to get out for a sail everyday and sometimes twice.
The food is good - there is always something available even for the fussiest of eaters. Bu[... read more]t again, what really makes the resort come to life is the incredible people who work there.

Playa Costa Verde: Lovely Resort!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Playa Costa. This was our 5th time to Cuba and once again we were not left disappointed, However the hydro in the bathroom/makeup area of our room was inadequate to use some of our hair irons etc. No biggie. Our travelling buddies had the same issue as their room was right across from ours. The buffet was huge and a great selection. The 24 snack bar was awesome, and so big that we often hung out there after being poolside.
One of the most beautiful pools we[... read more] have seen.
Internet access was very good as that was how we kept in touch with family.
Beds/pillows comfy so always a good sleep.
It was a great week, weather perfect and what an amazing bang for your buck.
Other then the exchange rate when converting our Cdn dollar to CUC's. I was expecting to lose about 25 cents on the dollar, however we lost about 35cents per dollar which we were quite shocked at.
There was no music during 6 days of our stay due to the passing of Fidel Castro and that was mandated by the government

Brisas Guardalavaca: Really enjoyed this good resort and its outstanding staff!
We’ve been to Cuba (pretty much all over) fifteen times and this was our first stay at Brisas Guardalavaca. It was truly a great week!
The resort has two distinct sections. One is the main hotel (231 rooms), which is the houses the lobby and buffet restaurant. It’s the centre as far as most activities are concerned and here many activities going on during the day and evening. The other is the Villas area (206 rooms), which is considerably less active and is much more quiet. Each section [... read more]has its own swimming pools. There are four in total, including a childrens' pool.
We had the pleasure of being in a second level Villas section room, which was spacious, well appointed, kept very clean and had both garden and ocean views. It had a comfortable king size bed, mini refrigerator and was spotlessly clean, thanks to Sonia from housekeeping doing an excellent job!
We very much enjoyed the food in all restaurants there. We have high standards as far as food preparation and presentation are concerned and the and variety of well-prepared fresh food in the buffet was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast featured a diversity of prepared hot and cold foods, as well as fresh fried egg, omelette and crêpe stations, along with a wide array of foods, such as cereals, pancakes, French toast, sausages, cheeses, cold cuts, fresh fruits, juices and yogurt. Lunch and dinner were comparably good. We enjoyed our allowance of three of the à la carte restaurants (Seafood, International and Italian), with the Seafood and its singing service staff being our favourite. The beachside (Patio) restaurant, El Guayabero near the snack bar and the snack bar itself were good to. No complaints whatsoever!
Bars are plentiful and we especially enjoyed going with others to the Martini and Havana Club bars during the evening.
The beautiful grounds and gardens were very well maintained by the ever hard working crew. The beach is long, wide, has nice white sand as well as some rocky areas. There is a nice walkway that runs parallel to the beach between the beach itself and the hotel and goes well beyond the resort and the neighbouring one right to the Guardalavaca market.
Aquatic activities include Hobie catamarans, which a staff member took us out on and the view of the coastline was beautiful. The beach wasn’t crowded and there were plenty of palapas and lounge chairs, as was the case with the pools.
Entertainment and recreation staff are constantly running activities throughout the resort in the day. Although there are live shows each evening, we only took in a couple, which were both quite good.
Although we didn’t take part in any organized day or overnight excursions, there are several available. We did hire a taxi driver to take us to a baseball game at the Calixto Garcia stadium in the City of Holguin. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Each and every staff member we encountered at Brisas Guardalavaca during our stay was extremely and genuinely polite, friendly and helpful! They give the place a very soulful atmosphere and truly made a good holiday great!
We were pleased to see that the resort encourages its guests to reuse their disposable plastic drinking cups and refill their water bottles at the bars. We recommend that you bring a reusable cup or mug for getting drinks at the beach and pool bars. From an environmental standpoint, I invite you to think about the amount of plastic waste that disposables produce. We are talking about a relatively small (compared with some) resort of approximately 437 rooms. At full capacity, if everyone there (at two persons per room) used just six plastic cups each daily (and they probably use more), it would amount to 5244 cups per day, or 1,914,060 (yes! one million, nine hundred and fourteen thousand and sixty) cups per year. That’s just the cups, not including bottles! Pretty alarming, when you consider that they are derived from petroleum and end up in a landfill site or burned after only just one use!!!
We went to Brisas Guardalavaca with realistic expectations, open minds and had a wonderful week. It’s now on our “must return†list!

Playa Pesquero: Amazing resort!
Everything was amazing. The food, the rooms, the service was amazing! They have renovated alot of the resort so it looks wonderful!
Was very disappointed that there was no music or activities because of Castro death, I believe we are paying to have a good time at this resort and they should've accommodated that no matter what's happening in Cuba!

Had a great stay with wonderful weather and great oceanview room. Although this is a 3 star resort the beauty of the location is 5 star. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our pool in the villa's was sparkling and clean. Most of the time we had the pool to ourself and a few friends. Highly recommend it.

Playa Costa Verde: Good Resort
Our room and the grounds were clean always. They were both great. The breakfast buffet was terrible. The lunch and dinner buffet was good. BUT THE FOOD AT BUFFET WAS CONSISTENTLY COLD ALWAYS. Snack bar was consistently a good place to eat for breakfast and lunch. The plastic cups at the pool bar are too small and too thin. The Cuban and Italian restaurants were good. The Japanese was excellent.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Nine days of mourning
We stayed from November 23-30, 2016. Arrangements were made efficiently through TripCentral and the bonus promotion of a $100 gift card was much appreciated and covered nearly the entire week of valet parking. Thank you.
The resort was well manicured and the grounds were beautiful. Lots of walkways completely around the resort to walk on. We stayed in the main part of the resort and the building we were assigned, #40, was an excellent location as it was close to pool, beach, lobby and res[... read more]taurants.
Because Fidel Castro died on the Friday night after our arrival, activities were kept to a minimum. There were no night shows after his death, no sales of liquor in the store, activities were cancelled and the activities that did happen, were quiet and quite uneventful.
The food in the buffet and a la cartes was good, service was good and I saw no problem other than a few birds and cats in the dining area. That didn't bother me very much. The pool restaurant was quite handy and the food was good. The beach restaurant had a great pig roast on one of the days and that was very good. I liked the fact that jugs of cold juice, water etc could be found in many places around the resort. We did not use the bars around the resort other than the lobby bar and the service there was fine. I would not say any service anywhere on the resort was exceptional. We have been to Cuba many times and the service at this resort was no better or no worse than most resorts.
My favourite part of the resort was the entertainment in the lobby...pianos, violins, claironets, flutes etc. There was usually two performances over the course of the early evening and each was great. Enjoyed that more than anything!
Very happy with Tripcentral and it was not the fault of the resort or anybody else that Castro's death changed the entire dynamics of the week. It was memorable and a good choice of a late autumn resort.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: comfortable and economical
On our visit 4-11 November 2016 we found that the food had improved a little, more variety. There was good entertainment for children, my daughter and grand daughter were there at the same time. Nightly shows were always about 30 minutes late in starting and some guests got up and walked out in frustration. We had good villa rooms with balcony overlooking the sea. Rooms were well cleaned each day ( we left a tip on the pillow each day as is our custom) Lobby staff was efficient, helped us call h[... read more]ome, or to friends in Cuba as required. Public restrooms in lobby area are in need of more attention, often no toilet paper or soap, hand drier in men's restroom not functioning. Extensive renovations are in progress at this hotel and I doubt that they will be finished in time for high season to come. The most disappointing thing about this trip was not the hotel but the terrible conditions in Frank PaÃs airport in HolguÃn. Men's restrooms were closed and men had to use women's restrooms.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great beach
Beach was amazing! Local market next to resort was fun to visit. Disco was closed temporary disco was offered which was ok. Bed was super uncomfortable and most restaurants and bars were under renovation. Lots of walking to entertainment and so-called disco. But I would go back!

Sol Turquesa Beach: Excellent Resort
Good value for your money! Beautiful grounds. Excellent staff. Good variety of food. The only disappointing thing was that it was too windy to go snorkeling. Also all bar staff should be aware that Diamond Club is the better alcohol. I don't think worth the extra money as the hotel wasn't very busy. There are a lot of stairs but that was fine with us as we liked the exercise.

Playa Pesquero: Awful, Stay Away
Don't believe the advertisements and save yourself the grief. We will never go to this hotel even if it was free. The hotel is generally dirty. There are bird dropping in the rafters of the hotel lobby and the various restaurants. Look up above your table and decide if you still want to sit where you are. The room was not clean. The air ducts have never been cleaned and are completely clogged. The dishes, glasses and cutlery in the restaurants was often dirty. They blamed the dishwasher but some[... read more] times there was fresh grease and dirt and had not been washed at all. The main pool is tiled and there were many kids the week we were there that cut themselves. Out youngest slashed his foot so bad we had to seek emergency treatment. Patrons stand in the pool all day drinking at the pool bar and never leave. I wonder if the water level in the pool rises over time? We had booked 2 weeks but had to pay to get out one week into our vacation. Air Transat was of no help and neither was TripCentral. The hotel was unresponsive and could care less. Could not even speak to the manager the entire time we were there. You can stay at any number of less expensive resorts in the area and be no worse off.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Good times and great weather
This was my first time at the resort but we were with a group that has been coming here for years which had some advantages. Meals were great. I found buffet better than the a la Carte restaurants. There was construction throughout the hotel that we were not told about prior to so would have been nice to have a little discount because of that since there were saws going off all day and early evening while trying to relax in the lobby. Some of our lights such as balcony didn't work and you could [... read more]hear everything from a mile away in your rooms which sucks if you like sleeping in or wake up easily at 2 am as people leave the disco. Service was phenomenal, greeted all the time and very friendly. We went deep sea fishing and caught a few, i would recommend going unless you get seasick. We had perfect weather although everyone was saying it was a bit cooler than past years. Worst part of the trip was not being seated with my girlfriend on the plane ride back but we managed!
