Memories Cayo Largo: Amazing Resort

We have been to Cuba many times but first time in Cayo Largo and it did not disappoint. The staff at Memories went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. Our amazing butler Elba made sure we had everything we needed and more! Remember that Cuba struggles with getting supplies some weeks but we never had an issue. Can't wait to go back.

Muthu Playa Varadero: You get what you paid for I guess

The resort overall is a beautiful place but I've never had such dirty rooms. The shelves were not dusted, my sister's room had mold all over a wall, my pillow case was not cleaned and smelled like someone's oily scalp. The beach is great but the food was the same every day. A week stay here is okay but I would not go longer. We played beach volleyball every day which was fun. There was a nightly show and discoteka. Some nights were amazing, and other nights not so great when they changed the DJ  [... read more]that did not play our requests. If you're looking for good snorkelling off the beach, all you're going to find here is sand. We did an excursion with tripcentral and they promised amazing snorkelling for 45 to 60 mins. The bus was late for pickup so we only got 30 mins and the snorkeling was mediocre. I would dive down to the bottom but for people who stayed up top, there was not much to see.

Melia Costa Rey: Amazing Time

We stayed at Gran Marena Collections for 2 weeks Feb 7-21. We didn’t have high expectations due to all the reviews about Cuba. Well Collections exceeded everything! The room was perfect-always had hot water, a real king size bed and a perfect view. The adults only pool was very relaxing, the only suggestion would be more cabanas. Food was amazing at the Gourmet restaurant for all 3 meals. The a la carts were all really good especially Italian and Cuban. The staff were all excellent, friendly  [... read more]and most spoke English. Extra bonus was it was only 15 mins to the hotel.

Grand Memories Holguin: Rather Mediocre

Nice lobby, rooms, and pools. Overall, unreached potential though. The buffet is a series of 3 to 5 smaller buffets. Lack of choice in the pre-cooked items, long lines at the stations. No vodka all week

Paradisus Rio De Oro: nice but...

We had the pleasure of staying at this resort from February 22nd to 29th, and we must commend Sunwing for their excellent service. Additionally, Tripcentral and Sandra provided invaluable assistance. Addressing some concerns raised in previous reviews about shortages, we found that while there was an abundance of beer, wine, and rum (although not of the highest quality), some of the more premium beverages were only sporadically available. We did notice a bottle of Black Label whisky vanish wi [... read more]thin minutes. To ensure a consistent supply of your preferred drinks, we recommend bringing your own. Regarding dining options, while the food quality was commendable, the variety in the main dining room was somewhat limited. For instance, we encountered the same cheese presented in different forms to create diversity. Eggs were available for only two days, after which they appeared in liquid form, the contents of which were uncertain. Like many others, we found it advantageous to bring our own spices, including salt, pepper, and vinegar. On a brighter note, the theme restaurants exceeded our expectations. We particularly enjoyed the charming beachside restaurant and bar, Santa Maria, which offered breathtaking views despite a somewhat restricted menu. The resort grounds were aesthetically pleasing, with a pristine beach and abundant marine life, perfect for snorkeling enthusiasts like ourselves. However, while the natural surroundings were impressive, we found that the maintenance of the hotel grounds could be improved. Public areas were pleasant, albeit with a limited selection of shops offering merchandise at premium prices. The main bar near the reception served excellent coffee, a delightful perk for caffeine enthusiasts. Our accommodations were clean, spacious, and equipped with efficient and whisper-quiet air conditioning. While the television quality was subpar, it met our expectations. We experienced a brief power outage upon returning from the beach before dinner, presumably due to an unforeseen incident. Additionally, there was a day with no hot water, which we attribute to a temporary issue. Overall, our stay at the resort was enjoyable, with highlights including the friendly service, picturesque beach, and satisfying dining experiences, despite some minor inconveniences.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Worst resort

No toilet paper, no coffee, no hot water, no cola, very limited food. Worst resort ever and would not recommend this resort to anyone unless they are prepared to have very limited things. Staff and pool were good

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: beautiful place

This is our 4th time to this part of Cuba. I wish someone would figure out how to get a better supply of food and equipment to the resorts because the buffets and restaurants at the resorts have declined tremendously since our first visit to the area (7 years ago). I thought my wife was nuts bringing instant oatmeal, peanut butter and ketchup but boy was I wrong (yes honey I'm admitting it). Powder egg omelets are terrible. The poor beach guy was trying his best to clean the seaweed with a "Cuba [... read more]nized" rake, but it was a disaster. The place is still beautiful but if there isn't a steady supply of stuff I'm sure it will decline tremendously and there wont be a reason to keep going there. The staff were doing their best to make our stay a pleasant one but there is not much they can do with their hands tied behind their backs. Would I return to Cuba??? Only if I could bring my own food. My heart goes out to the workers at the resort. They (most of them) put all they have to make our stays a pleasure but like I said they can only do with what they have.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Unbeilivabe nosedive of a resort: story of a very unpleasant second experience at Laguna Azul

I am someone who doesn't fuss much about travel and tends to take things easy. This wasn't my first rodeo there; in fact, it was my second time returning to Laguna Azul. Sure, there were some hiccups last year, but nothing I couldn't handle. However, this time around, the experience took a nosedive into the realm of the unimaginably awful. Let's start with the food – or should I say, the stomach-churning nightmare it turned out to be. Even someone like me, with a stomach seemingly made of iron, [... read more] wasn't spared from the horrors of food poisoning. And it wasn't just the taste; actual cockroaches were making themselves at home in some of the dishes, particularly the sweets. It's not every day you find yourself fighting for your meal against insects, let alone having to inspect your food for unwanted guests. As if that wasn't enough, there was the issue of a malfunctioning wastewater pipe that was leaking wastewater right in the middle of the resort. Picture this: every time we ventured to our room or made our way to the pools or the beach, we had to navigate through a minefield of used toilet paper and, yes, actual human waste. Needless to say, the thought of taking a dip in the main pool, which was perilously close to this sewage leakage, was quickly dismissed. Then there was the matter of drinks – or rather, the lack thereof. Rum shortages in Cuba? really? Not having any at all on some days was beyond comprehension. And forget about a classic mojito even when rum was available because there was no mint around! Worse, no coke!! so not even a rum and coke. Even when rum was available, the staff seemed clueless about what to do with it, simply adding a bit of rum and some awful-tasting artificially flavoured liquid with water and calling it a cocktail. But that was not the only problem, even those drinks were often so diluted to the point where they might as well have been serving flavoured water. They were told not to pour more than one-third of a shot of alcohol in each drink. Even Red wines were diluted. All the stored red wines were already open and when drinking them it was as if you were drinking red water! Many people were buying a bottle of rum and a bottle of code or wine from the resort stores to drink something semi-decent. Speaking of the staff, their demeanour this year left much to be desired. Gone was the warmth and attentiveness I had come to expect; instead, there was a palpable sense of indifference. It wasn't just me noticing this shift – many of the other guests I spoke to shared similar sentiments. I am a very good tipper and even extra tips didn't help. I literally heard from another guy that he stopped tipping because it appeared it doesn't make any changes. It's hard to say what exactly was behind this change, but it certainly put a damper on the overall atmosphere of the resort. Even room service was off. For instance, they wouldn't change the towels if they seemed dry (we were seeing the same dirty towel with a certain mark on it being hung again and again!). They wouldn't even replace the filtered water bottles if they were half empty! And speaking of atmosphere, it was sorely lacking in the entertainment department. No music on the beach, no nighttime festivities on the beach – just a pervasive sense of coldness that seemed to seep into every corner of the resort. In conclusion, would I recommend this resort to anyone? No, absolutely not. Save yourself the trouble and seek out greener pastures elsewhere.

Melia Internacional: Amazing Resort

We have visited Cuba before but nothing compares to the wonders of the Melia International Recommend you stay in an oceanfront room. View is beautiful Food is very good. Alcoholic drink selection was the only weak point. Good beer but cheap rum and no fruity drinks.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Visited February, 2024

This resort is quite large, new, and has superb vegetation, trees, etc.. The beach is crowded, chairs are hard to find unless you go early at 6:30-7am to reserve. The rooms were very modern and clean. The food was good, many choices of food, great breakfast omelets, fruits, sweets. At first there is confusion about the layout of the resort since the lobby is on the 3rd floor, the main buffet on the 1st floor, and rooms scattered with long hallways. The only drawback that I experienced, as a s [... read more]enior, is that there are many stairs to access the beach. As well the main building had 1 elevator that was functioning in our area, our only option on most days was to use the stairs. both elevators should be in service. Beach great if you have reserved, food very good, service excellent, rooms excellent once you find them, people always wonderful.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Royal service misses the mark

My husband and I have been looking forward to our trip to the Paradisus Princess del Mar in Varadero Cuba for many years. 4 years to be exact. We have travelled to Cuba many times and have stayed in the Melia hotels. We selected the Paradisus hotel so that we could finally get a swim up room and live the royal service experience. The maids did a lovely job cleaning the room. Where things come short is on the royal service. This was very disappointing as I said we were so excited and we paid the extra for the royal service and the swim up room for this trip. The assigned butlers did not always attend to requests and when they did it was not timely. We spent days by the pool outside of our room and no one came by to ask if we need drinks- we went to get our own. These are small things I know, however they are part of the royal service promise. As I looked around there was not a lot of staff around to serve the guests. We often waited for drinks at dinner and at the bars. While food and drink and room repair quality are not always in the control of Cuban resorts due to shortages, how people are served is. And I don’t believe the staff levels were adequate to provide the royal service we were so looking forward to. This resort is missing the mark. Also for the first time we have ever seen the beautiful Varadero beach was not cleaned of the overnight seaweed and garbage that comes on shore, for the whole week!! The beach is the best feature in Cuba and the pride that goes into maintaining them was gone.

Villa Lindamar: Beautiful and quiet

These beautiful villas are the perfect place to go if you want a quiet and relaxing vacation. The beach was incredible, you can walk it for miles. There are very few people, and the beach did not feel crowded or like a tourist attraction! The food was good for Cuba, they are creative with their ingredients. There was always something to eat. Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Resort was half closed due to construction, I wish we would have known this before booking

Grounds were very nice , people very courteous towards their guests. Three of the restaurants were close due to a broken water pipe that flooded the restaurants. No eggs for breakfast for the first three days.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Amazing place

Perla Blanca is a beautiful place. Nicest beaches I have ever been too. People of Cuba are fantastic and so kind. The hotel has everything you could want to make your stay in paradise exactly that. It's a hidden gem on Cayo Santa Maria.

Melia Trinidad Peninsula: We are already planning our come back to the resort

Everything about this resort is amazing; employees, rooms, cleanliness, food, bars, restaurants, patios, beaches, pristine sea with corals (didn't have any problem with 'rocks'...it is called nature), local musicians playing in the bars and the beach, excursions, proximity to beautiful Trinidad, meeting its beautiful people. We cannot stop talking about the hotel (few of our friends put the place in their next-to-do list…this is how much we are talking about it)

Valentin Cayo Cruz: Great Resort

Nice resort but unfortunately the lack of food with all the shortages makes it not worth the price we paid. It would be nice to get a discount on our next trip that we would be happy to deal with you on our next vacation.

Starfish Cayo Largo: Great Stay in Paradise

This was my first time staying at Starfish Cayo Largo. I booked an ocean view room that did not disappoint with the most stunning view of the ocean. Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff are great, amazing people especially Eliza. The cleaning ladies were also wonderful. The beaches are stunning and the reason you go to Cayo Largo. I could not get over how beautiful the water was and how you can find complete natural solitude by just walking 30 minutes down the white sand beach. If you like snorkelling, there’s great reefs off the beach. I will definitely be returning to this piece of absolute paradise one day.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Fairly big not bad

Just got back. Grounds where kept neat. Lots of open wire along the paths.some part lit up. Need a flash light to see building number at night. Food no eggs just powder eggs.buffet was same every day.bread but no butter. First morning no Coffee. Next 6days coffee but very weak and cold at times . Beer some times.somtimes vodka. No mix for 7 days just some kind of juice. No fancy drinks just rum and juice. No shows. Just disco music for young adults. Same music at the beach at the pool then at th [... read more]e square from 9 to 1. That was the only intertament everyday. Cuba day nothing big .real hope things change back to the way they use to be. Playa Pesquero: Getting old

3rd visit for us and we noticed that it’s looking a little run down. Rooms are in desperate need of a refresh. Food was not great unless you LOVE chicken. Staff are still very friendly . Will try a different resort next time. Joyce & Lorne

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: A Home Away From Home

This resort has beautiful grounds and beaches and the most amazing staff anywhere in the world. Although times are tough in Cuba the staff go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Choices may be limited right now but we were never hungry! The stray dogs and cats are treated well by staff and guests and are a delightful group who appreciate every bit of compassion.
