Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Not the best experience

As a frequent visitor to Cuba to various areas and different resorts I can safely say that I will not be returning to this one. I won't be repetitious and complain too much about the food as I am aware that Cuba is currently experiencing supply issues but this was my worst experience with food in the 25+ years I have been traveling to Cuba. I think what was the most disappointing was the lack of beach. With Pillar Beach within a 30 minutes walk (bring water shoes) I was expecting a beautiful str [... read more]etch of beach not a small patch of shipped in sand over grass and rocks. The boardwalks were lovely if you could get a spot. The rooms were adequate but could use some updating and the beach views were great. The resort appeared to be understaffed so line ups were the norm. I did enjoy the one excursion that I went on which was out of the resort on a small catamaran to an island for snorkeling.

Melia Costa Rey: Never again

It’s very old. We were on ground floor which was flooded with sewage water in the hallway & bathrooms. We had a difficult time to move upstairs. There was no hot water at all. The ala cart reservations sucked they book it for you & you cannot change unless you pay the guy. We only had the chance to use it once because they were full. This hotel should be de listed from the all sites.

Grand Memories Varadero: GILLIGANS ISLAND

what I remembered most was the lactation wasat one end of beach(which I knew). Took a $29 USD taxi ride to go to VARADERO. The double decker bus option($5USD) was okay,but took bout 45 minutes to arrive downtownafter all hotel stops. Grounds were in great shape, big resort, lots of action, butreally missed the option of walking out door of resort and downtown across the street. Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Loved every moment here

Was just there last week on a bestie trip. We were living our best lives and loving all the resort had to offer. Sure it's not offering gourmet food, but we were not focus on that one bit. We signed up for the beach and the sunshine and was not once dissapointed. There are people who focus on what's lacking and choose misery over joy. Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Ok resort

Poor room service. Food service was good. Sunwing cayo rooms should invest more into their rooms. For example our shower drain wasn’t draining. TV not working. Phone never worked. Head board is falling apart. Curtains were half ripped, dragging on the floor. Very poor internet. Hallway switch light wasn’t working. Very dark in closets, couldn’t see anything. Had to use my flashlight on my phone to be able to see. We don’t usually complain about our vacations but this one was over the top.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Amazing beaches

Hotel was ok and food wasn't bad (better than other hotels in the area). Coffee bar is amazing and beaches are beautiful! Pool water was super cold for some reason so didn't enjoy the pools as much as we wanted. Kids club was open on and off, and activities weren't consistent. Would still recommend for going to Cuba.

Melia Varadero: Large Resort

Approx 1500 people in resort. Modern, Food and drinks good. Sunwing flight times from Kitchener Suck. Arrived at Hotel after 11pm arrived home after 3am 10 minutes from Airport. Checked website at Kitchener airport parking $60 per week plus $8 for additional 2 hours . It came in at $128. Never again. I can get a limo to and from airport for $43 each way. I am 73 years old with low patience. For the first couple of days we would go down for breakfast at 9 to 9:30. The second day I waited 45 minu [... read more]tes in a line for an omelette. Gave up.By the end of the week we were going closer to 10 am when it was not so busy. Internet was non existant. Rooms were small unless you paid roughly $800 more for the Level 5th floor. I have been to Cuba over 40 times and love our friends at the Golf course. The staff is excellent and work very hard. Our old friend one day worked 18 hours straight. We knew 3 employees at the Hotel and they were very helpful. The beach is nice but with so many people chairs are scarce. The biggest problem I found was waiting in lines. Not my type of holiday. Don't bother with the Alacarte's . You have to book them daily at 7am with a 50 yard lineup. The female Sunwing rep on our first day tues. made us wait for an hour and then she said she would be another 1/2. hour asked the male Sunwing rep on Sat the 24th and he was very cooperative. I asked the lifeguards if one could help me move a chair about 50 feet and they said get the chair man. I went and got it myself and told him I would have given him $5. He said FU. They are 300 yards back from the beach. I don't know how they would save anyone with a beer and a cigarette. I have trouble with stairs and don't like elevators. There are about 30 stairs to the beach. If you like a nice burger on the beach the beach grill is nice if you want to wait for 45 minutes. We love the Cuban people but we went to a 3 star small resort and had a much more relaxing time. Everything is close. The people at tripcentral who we book with are the best. They have the best and simplest website. I would probably do better if we went back but I don't think so now. You know how Canadians talk about the food in Cuba. Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Dull

Waiting around for stuff to start. Constantly chasing to lobby for wifi connection. Uninterested in shows from the beginning, hopefully they got better we never stayed through one bc they were not that interesting. Water off in rooms for toilets flushing between 12-6am. Food never hot. Pictures didn’t make it seem that far from a good beach. But to the larger beach it was a 5 min bus ride.

The One Gallery Hotel: Great resort.

No complains about The One Gallery Hotel. Great location, beautiful beach and swimming pools. Great food and service. No food shortages. Very clean room, well maintained everyday. Super friendly staff.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Great Vacation Spot!

The hotel/grounds were very clean and the staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The beach was beautiful with access to paddle boats, kayaks and rides on catamarans. The bars were very well stocked and the restaurants provided plentiful buffets/meals with lots of variety.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: A Wonderful Vacation!

Everything is in close proximity at Sanctuary Grand Memories, from the beach to the Pool Bar is less than 2 min walk. We were in Building 57, and our Butler Carlos was outstanding and made our stay relaxed, worry free and as comfortable as possible, he was always around and available to check in and help. The little pizzeria was ideal for a late afternoon snack and our favorite lunch was the poolside or beachside grills. Our favorite a la Carter was Italian. Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Don’t waste your money!

Have been to Cuba many times, in many different areas, so we can honestly say this is the worst hotel we have stayed at in Cuba. The only positives were the nice guests we met at the resort and the weather. Our room,1107, did not have hot water for the entire week of our stay. Maintenance came twice but did not fix the problem. Management refused to move us to another room, stating the hotel was full. Dinin [... read more]g room tables were not cleaned promptly, not enough plates in the dining room for the amount of guests. White wine was very hard to come by. Food choices were limited. Chairs were stained. Staff attitudes in the dining room were less than desirable when you asked for something. Public washrooms were not cleaned properly, no toilet paper, no hand soap, for the duration of our 1 week stay. Lounge chairs were stained, umbrellas for lounge chairs were broken. Puddles of water in the hotel hallways due to faulty plumbing. Clearly, there are major issues with this hotel. The hotel is mismanaged. More like a 2 star. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. This was our first and last time at an Iberostar resort!

Hotel Bella Costa: Fun in the Sun!

This is my third time at the Bella Costa. The resort just celebrated its 30th Anniversary, so yes, it is outdated. This was the first time I brought my mom to Cuba, I was a little disappointed with our bungalow as we looked out into a building with no view but my mom was content. There was plenty of water bottles, hot water to shower and clean towels daily. The bed was soft, bring a fitted sheet as there was none if it’s a necessity to you. The staff are very friendly and work very hard. Joanna will serve your cappuccino or coffee with a beautiful smile. Hanoi will make you a drink and do his best to make you smile. While visiting the most incredible beach in the world Omar (the gardener) will make you a cricket or hat from the leaves. And the entertainment crew is the best! It’s only a short ride on the hop on hop off bus into town. Enjoy! ☀️

Melia Cayo Coco: Great Resort

Loved this resort. The size was a big plus because you were close to everything. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure you were happy. The food was great, no shortages at all. A little repetitive but that is Cuba. Beach was stunning and big. Lots of loungers so you didn't have to go early to get one. The entertainment in the lobby, live music and instruments was amazing, so talented! Added touch because theater is the same everywhere. They also gave us a deal in which we didn't even ask for and a bottle of whiskey in the room. They really do go the extra mile and this resort is a little gem ?

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Be very careful

Although it is a Memories hotel, I can tell you that visiting there on Feb 10th in what was requested being a terrace or ground floor, do to mobility issues, we were given a room on the third floor. The service as we first checked in was not that great for first impressions, and neither was the golf cart that was suppose to pick us up but he never showed up. Another couple that was vacationing there helped us with our luggage. We were told come back tomorrow at 9am to change the room, then [... read more] it was 10 and on, and on until come back at 4pm. Would you beleive it that the ones telliing us to come back were now off and a new crew was on the desk. We finally got our room at 6:30. Meanwhile we had not unpacked, and told our maid not to clean the room as we were moving out. Well she came back and took our beacch towels and gave them to someone else. The other room they gave us was infact on the ground floor but, the main entrance door did not lock at all, we only found that out the next morning when my wife went for coffee and tried the door. But the main thing in this room was no water! none, not at all, zero, not in the sink, shower or toilet. I went to the front desk and told them our situation, and that I wanted to check out and go rent a cabana somewhere. That is when they offered to transfer us to Melia Jardines del Rey. Muthu Playa Varadero: Good weekend getaway

My husband and I went for a quick weekend trip. The resort is small and you can see it’s age. They do seem to be slowly renovating. The lobby and coffee bar area are fresh and clean. The rooms are in need of updating however we found our room clean and bright with good working AC. The beach is stunning as we expected with Varadero. We were disappointed there was no real bar on the beach and it was quite a hike to get to the nearest bar. Sol Palmeras: Great spot

Clean rooms, good service overall, food is okay. Beer at the outdoor bars is foamy with slow service. Good entertainment in the lobby, during the evening . The staff is very friendly, and will help whenever required.

Blau Varadero: Best Hotel !!!

The hotel is clean, great music and good atmosphere, piano, violin, sopranos, chelo and life band every night. The beach is amazing ?? , food is okay, always enough choices people are very nice and friendly. It was a wonderful week ? ?.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Huge safety concerns

A drunk guy attempt a break in at my room at 2am on my 2nd night there. Called the desk 3 times for help,no response. My trip was ruined and all my nights were sleepless. I have been totally Traumatized by this and the only compensation given was a 2hr late check out, which I had to fight for. This resort failed me, I didn't feel safe after that night. I asked that they force this individual to leave the resort, they refused, and still allowed him to consume endless amounts of alcohol. Unacce [... read more]ptable, given he tried breaking into 3 other rooms, along with mine, and breaking one of the doors. This is something that will take me a long time to mentally recover from. My first solo trip was completely destroyed.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Just OK

Small hotel with moldy outdated rooms. I had to tye rip the head shower in order to take a shower. Some of my clothes was stolen, small buffet with same food every day. The restaurant was the same food from the buffet. One staff was unprofessional and flirty with my daughter. Good coffee, not too busy and nice beach
