Melia Cayo Santa Maria: LOVELY

IT WAS WELL KEPT. ENJOYED OUR ROOM WHICH WAS WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE. HIGH TOILET WAS GREAT AND WALK IN SHOWER WITH A PORTABLE SHOWER CHAIR. OUR CHAMBERMAID WAS EXCELLENT SO SHE WAS WELL REWARDED WITH GIFTS. FOOD WAS TOLERABLE. TWO GREAT RESTAURANTS WERE THE INTERNATIONAL AND JAPANESE. FELT IT WAS TOO WINDY FOR ME SO FELT CHILLY HOWEVER I DID HAVE A COUGH. SMALLER RESORT SO LESS WALKING..EASY TO GET AROUND. GREAT NIGHTLY ENTERTAINMENT. GEAT POOL SURROUNDINGS. Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: A little too new for my tastes.

Although I enjoyed my stay at Ocean Casa Del Mar, I found that the landscaping was not mature enough for my liking. I would prefer a resort with more mature trees and landscaping to give it a more cooling effect. The ocean breezes were lovely, and the ocean was magnificent as always. The room was wonderful, although we couldn't quite figure out the air conditioner; it was either too cold, or if we shut the system off, it was too warm. The view was nice from our balcony. The cleaning crew  [... read more]were very efficient and accommodating. The food was good and the two a la carte restaurants we tried were excellent; the Origami, and the Neptuno. The main buffet dining room had lots to offer, along with fresh prepared food. Entertainment at all meal times was an unexpected bonus. Staff at all restaurants were friendly and helpful. I think the staff at the Riso, lobby bar were a little disappointed in us. We are not heavy alcoholic drinkers and we did not continuously order drinks there. Mike's Coffee was more our style. We arrived very late on Sunday morning (2:00 a.m.), but the front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Again, it was an enjoyable stay.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Perfect getaway!

This was my first time to Cuba and I loved it! The resort was beautiful and the beach was absolutely stunning! I had read plenty of bad reviews about the food my family and I had no problem with it but my wife is a vegetarian and didn’t have many options! The resort were wonderful and kind andvery helpful people, the Cuban people don’t make much money and I was disappointed to see a lot of other tourists not tipping or even being gratuitous towards them. Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great Beach

The Beach made up for what the hotel room lacked. The bedding was not great, the hair blower didn't work, electrician had to be called multiple times because lighting didn't work, but the beach was excellent with soft white sand and warm clear water. staff was very kind but very weak English. When I had to wait for my room to be ready they couldn't understand that I wanted a beach towel for example and had to spend 3 hours without a beach towel. Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Nice resort

Ocean Casa del Mar is a great hotel, new and very clean. Food is good specially fish. Many restaurants and bars. Finally very quiet resort, but it was pretty windy. Beach is one of the best I have ever seen.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: wonderful resort

I was greatly surprise by how wonderful the resort was after just couple of month after a hurricane hit Santa Maria. The ground around the resort was clean and beautiful, all the pool were in use. At the beach of Playa Cayo they already had beach shelter in place. The people at the resort were very polite and were happy to speak English and French. They had many different type of food to satisfy my hunger. It was my first time and I would gladly go back.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Amazing stay

The Ocean Casa Del Mar is all you can expect! Great room accommodations, beautiful grounds, variety of restaurants and great buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner. The entertainment is great. The staff is very friendly andhelpful. Overall we had an amazing time. I would definitely go back 😍

Valentin Perla Blanca: Great resort!

I had a wonderful vacation at the Valentin Perla Blanca. The rooms were clean, the food was good and the staff were very personable and helpful. I found the whole resort to be well managed and very clean. I would definately return to this resort.

Amazing sandy beach. Hotel clean and friendly personnel. Perfect temperature. Good night entertainment. 5 restaurants, I recommend the French cuisine was very good. 2 pools allowed quite pool for relax and enjoy. With excellent bar attendants at the pool.

Memories Paraiso: Extreme tourista to the whole family!!!

To begin, our non-stop 4 pm flight to Santa Clara was changed one week before our departure date, to a 9 am flight with a stop in Holguin, changing our 4 hour flight into a 6.5 hour trek. The check-in took over one hour to get through. The flight left 30 minutes late, and we had no time to grab any breakfast. Once in Holguin, we got off the plane, all slowly were through security, mixed in with travellers commuting to Santa Clara. We got back on the same plane, to discover our seats were double  [... read more]booked. Many seats had been double booked. I have travelled down south for 14 years now, including three prior trips to Cuba, without any major incident. This is the first time that my family and i all get severe gastro intestinal poisoning (both ends) for almost half of our 7-day stay. I see why so many other guests were only eating bread at the buffet. Dukoral offered no help. We were never informed what the source of the outbreak was. Their bottled water tasted horrible, and was hard to come by. The food was bland at best. The waiters, cleaners and reception staff were very nice, helpful, and professional. Don't expect to be able to use the soccer or basketball nets, since they claim not to have any balls? The beach was nice white sand and lovely, shallow water, but there was a permanent strong howling wind that prevented us from enjoying it. The nightly shows that we were well enough to see were great. Save your money and health, go somewhere else!

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Wonderful staff!!

The resort was wonderful in itself. However, whether it was from Hurricane Irma or aging, the rooms had quite a bit of damage. In fact, we requested a change of room because of the moldy smell in our original room. The bathroom door was rotten halfway down the door to the bottom and would not close. The second room was much better but we had to call maintenance several times as the toilet wouldn't flush. By the 3rd day, it was "somewhat" fixed. But we did go to the A la Carte Japanese restaurant and it was excellent!! In fact, we re-booked it for another night. The weather was not very nice but clearly, nobody had any control over this. But the beach was not accessible for most of the time due to weather and the pool was very very cold. Again, nobody's fault. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful and we will miss many of the staff we met. On an end note, not all the excursions were available as there was not enough people signed up. However, our experience at the Dolphinarium was amazing. I would recommend this excursion to anyone!!

Roc Lagunas del Mar: A Nice Resort With Amazing Staff!

We were very pleased with the resort. The grounds and property were very well maintained. The staff were all so lovely. The buffet was very good. So good we didn't do any A-la cartes. The Beach is Amazing! We walked for many km's everyday. The entertainment was very good. We took the Jeep excursion and had a fantastic time.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Decent

The resort is generally clean and well maintained (especially compared to the neighboring Sol), but the trees evidently suffered from the recent hurricane(s) (lost a lot of foliage so not much tree shade). People are courteous. Hot water pressure is very good compared to a few years ago. The beach is nice and clean, as well, with plenty of space and shade. So overall OK, with some notes: one day the bed sheets smelled musty and stinky (noticed that during the night after going to bed, so we c [... read more]ould not change them), and another one pillow case was smudged with something pretty gross looking (only noticed the next day... yeah). The food is alright but you will get so bored of it after a few days (essentially the same few items everyday). The beach restaurant makes a difference by offering some fresh daily bbq and a few things not on the main cafeteria list. I advise to avoid wasting your time waiting in line to register for the a la carte dinners as they do not even by far resemble what they are supposed to be (we tried Japanese, Mediterranean and "international"). Wifi is spotty: you need to buy a 1 CUC card with sign in information, which gives you 1h of internet access; it only works in the lobby and around the beach towel kiosk areas, that we could figure (not in room). Last thing, the AC in the room blows right in your face when lying in bed and there is no way to change that.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Janet was amazing

Janet helped me plan my trip, without her assistance I would not have gone to Cuba. Janet phoned me yesterday, but I don't have her number - it was accidentally erased. I wanted to thank her for her assistance. The only part of the trip I did not like was the food on Cubana Air; Cold, soft, yukky white bread with cheese and some type of meat. Some people ate it, I could not. I would have rather paid for a decent meal, or no meal at all. Once again, the resort was wonderful. Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Awesome Place!!

The resort was great. Rooms where very nice and clean. Beach was amazing and the grounds are kept perfect. Finally we thought the food was really good to. Will definitely stay at this resort again very soon!!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great time

We had a wonderful time at this resort, the bar staff were amazing and service was excellent. The place was very neat and pretty. The beach was very nice music was good, overall it was a great experience and we would go back.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Dissapointing

The low price is reflective of the quality of the resort post-Hurrican Irma. Avoid lower level floors as the water damage had left a musty smell in our first room. We moved to another (lower level) floor and had to deal with ants in the bathroom and bed.The air conditioner leaked and created a large pool of water in the bathroom. The resort food was very average which is typical of most resorts in Cuba but what set this apart was no butter or jam for the first 3 days and no ketchup at all. We ha [... read more]ve travelled a lot to Cuba and this was the first time both my wife and I had to deal with Montezuma's revenge. We spoke with people who stayed at the Las Dunes next door and they had only good things to say... WestJet = sit near the front of the plane, they always run out of food and they do it on purpose to avoid wasting food. The TV screens do not work well in the back of the plane. The price is right for a reason - you get what you pay for but they can keep the revenge.

Who wouldn't love to stay in this beautiful, all inclusive resort? The grounds and lobby were spectacular. I walked around the various paths leading to the lovely buildings where guests stayed, just to take in the gorgeous landscaping and tropical plants. From my spacious, clean room I could see the SPA and hear the soft tinkling of the fountains. Drinking coffee on my huge balcony, I watched the birds and saw flowers on the trees beginning to open. Crossing the long bridge to arrive at one [... read more] of the most beautiful beaches in the world, was the highlight of my day. I would love to return and hopefully meet up once more with the many amazing people that I was lucky enough to spend time with.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: small but mighty

My second time at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria and it was even better than the first time. GREAT food, great staff who work SO hard and are invariably smiling and friendly. My wife was at one of the high priced new resorts farther down the beach a few weeks earlier and she raved about how much more she enjoyed the Melia CSM. There will always be petty annoyances (always seem to be out of something) but this place makes you glad to take it all in stride. Two little things...they need to do a better [... read more] job cleaning the beaches of seaweed (all along CSM not just at this resort) ... And they need a firmer stance in dealing with the handful of obnoxious guests (all, sadly Canadian middle aged tough guy wannabes and biker posers) who drunkenly screamed racist and obscene comments all evening long with families with children at the next table. Really, boys if you can't handle your beer any better than that...stay home. You embarass yourselves AND your country!
