Starfish Jibacoa: nice place

We were 3 adults in a bungalow. The room was nice and big and had 3 beds. We were disappointed by the number of things that the resort ran out of. Examples: No toilet paper most of the time, Ran out of napkins at the resort, ran out of vodka, ran out of beer at the lobby bar, no coffee liquor and a number of other things. The buffet was the same everyday. They ran out of coffee cups and coffee at the buffet a couple of times.This was our 4th time back to the resort and found that the place is re [... read more]ally deteriorating. Many handles on the toilets even in the rooms were hanging off and water pressure was very low. The ground have been coming back real nice after the hurricane and are looking pretty nice. The tables at the bar were not being wiped properly and it always smelt like sour milk because the concrete was never hosed down. The people are still very friendly and try their best with what they have. We decided that this would be our last trip to this resort. This is unfortunate because we have always liked it there. Would not recommend this resort. Sort of got turned off.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Nice Time

The ROC Arenas Doradas was completely fine, nothing really outstanding except the beach! The entire resort was clean and well cared for. The food was fine, certainly not great but not bad either. Most of the staff were friendly and just went about their work. I think being perfectly fine is what they are trying to achieve with no surprises.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Sunbeach Hotel, Varadero

Location was excellent and the grounds fairly well maintained with good access to a beautiful beach Having said that the room was very basic, blankets and sofa upholstery was torn and should have been replaced Elevator was not clean, common area, pool and lobby washrooms were a disaster( filthy, no TP) There was no maintenance staff for upkeep Food, though basic, was enjoyable but the plates, cutlery and tablecloths in the buffet area were very unhygienic There should have been snack b [... read more]ars available at all times in the day Evening entertainment was passable What made the stay bearable was the staff and their friendly attitude, however, there should have been greater focus on cleaning

Playa Vista Azul: Great times

Rooms were very clean and modern, Maids very pleasant and make awesome towel art. DANCE entertainment team 5 star. Food I liked the pasta station and the egg station for breakfast. Cons.... No mini bar refills Not alot of meat only at lunch

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Not a good experience

Six of us spent 1 week at Melia Peninsula and were happy to see the day to leave. One of the couples had been at this resort twice before and had a wonderful experience. This time around they noticed conditions had deteriorated. I have been to Cuba many times before and have never had a bad experience. At this hotel food ran out everyday and was never to be seen again that week. Small portions of meats were put on BBq at a time so you were lucky to get any. constantly out of mojito, Cuba's famou [... read more]s drink and other drinks. Just a few examples of the food situation. Pool was shut down one day for most part of the day to manually clean it. Friends spent 2 days with zero towels and toilet paper even after numerous complaints to front desk. My room had no bathroom door. Must have broken and never fixed. Bar fridge not working. Phones in room also not working. Again just a few examples. Grounds was pretty though. Entertainment was mediocre. I hate to be so negative as I love Cuba and will return but not at this hotel.

Hotel Los Cactus: not bad resort

The Junior suite building that we stayed in smelled of mould and so did our room. There is a nice long beach to walk for miles and one large clean pool. The food was so so. The staff at the bars were friendly and also the cooks. Great entertainment on resort. Take a ride into town . Sunny every day . With a smaller resort we met lots of people.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great Resort

The resort was very clean and easy to get around. I would have like to have more of an ocean view (as advertised) from various locations other than going right down to the beach but all in all it was good.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Awesome Resort!

We stayed at the Royalton from Jan 25-Feb 1. Beach is beautiful and so clean ... no motorized vehicles polluting the air. Staff are so friendly and provided some of the best service we’ve experienced. Food was really good...only complaint about the food is that nothing is ever hot. Either lukewarm or cold. Overall a great resort and we would definitely return.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Very relaxing week!

The resort is very well maintained. The grounds are well groomed and attractive. The rooms were nice and very clean which I think can be attributed to the staff. The staff were very friendly and tried to help you whenever you asked. The food was mostly bland. This is consistent with what others have told us about their have experienced in many resorts in Cuba. The omlette bar for breakfast and the A la' cartes for dinner were quite good. Playa Vista Azul: Very nice resort

We just got back Cuba and stayed at the Ocean vista Azul. Overall the resort is beautiful and the only complaint we have would be the taste of food from the buffet. Otherwise a great vacation. We would go back again!

Resonance Blu Varadero: Great tesort

Great resort, super friendly staff! Only issue was washrooms were not always cleaned could have used more staff for drinks and service. Excellent pools, pool staff were great and the beach was amazing!

Club Karey: Great experience

I do not why anyone would complain? It is 2.5 star resort. It was great. The staff and I get along excellently. It is an affordable resort, which leaves you money to go for excursions. Beautiful beaches. 2 4 star hotels next by. Great, authentic Cuban performers. Those who would like to hear only English are strange. You will listen to French and Russian languages, which are beautiful. The only disadvantage was the fact we were told that we should change the rooms our second day of stay; however [... read more], we were moved from bungalow to the hotel, which is better and closer to the restaurant. Cubans are great people, and one should not forget that they do this 365 days in hot conditions. Be kind and understanding, not formally but actually.

Memories Jibacoa: Small and very cozy resort

The outstanding feature of this resort is the staff, they are like family to us. This was our eighth visit there. Besides the staff we also enjoy the size of the resort, which is small and the fact that it is adults only. We really like how cozy this resort is. A great place for a relaxing vacation.

Blau Varadero: Fantastic Resort

Everyone was so helpful, staff was fantastic! Friendly, spoke many languages, including good English. Food was great, so many delicious options. Great entertainment and all day activities - included. Highly recommended to anyone. Rooms were clean, a/c works great, felt safe at all times at this resort. Pool was amazing, beach was one of the nicest we saw and the biggest!!

Club Kawama: Amazing once again

In our opinion my hub y and I have traveled 4 yrs in a row with the same agent at trip central candice and she has always done over and above for us we love club kawama varedero for many reasons 1st is the beach then it goes to the people and forever friends u meet....Its a 3 star and nothing fancy but great staff grounds clean food will suck anywhere in cuba entertainment well when u meet the kinda people we do it's the best...Kawama is walking distance to everything and I mean everything..As f [... read more]or the rooms plan Jane but they sure look after u expesically if u r a repeter for the rest of our lives...The only bad thing I have to say is be prepared to have a good time of not pay 1300 alone for 1 person at a 5 star instead of 1250 for 2....Thanks again trip central and candice for always helping us....

Muthu Playa Varadero: Muthu Playa

A lot of disappointments. First, our room keys didn't work half the time. We had to run back and forth to get new cards which didn't work either so we had to finally get a technician (3 separate timeS). The door card didn't work about 20 different times if not 30. Twice the safe in our room would not unlock. Again, needed to wait for a technician and almost missed our day excursions because of it. Toilet leaked all week in our room ( half the bathroom had half an inch of water) and nobody could  [... read more]help to fix it or get us a new room. Also, me and my friend tipped the maid daily and at first all was well but the day we decided to triple our tip amount, they made our beds and that is it. No toilet paper, no cleaned towels, no cleaning period. 50 % of staff were good or great and the other 50% were rude or not happy to see us, tips or not and I tip well. I have never seen this in the dozen times I have traveled over the years. I am not sure if I will be going to Cuba again if this is now the new normal.

Hotel Tuxpan: Très bon service

Le personnel est toujours souriant et bien attentionné. On se sent rapidement bienvenue et on peut relaxer. Malgré que la piscine était en rénovation (ce qui est maintenant terminé) ils ont bien gérer le tout en aidant à trouver des places confortables sur la plage.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great resort!

The grounds were exceptional, rooms were very clean, areas where food was served was spotless. We really enjoyed our stay and we would return to this resort. The beach was awesome to walk and the pool was clean and well maintained. All workers were helpful.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: No frills 3 and a half star

Hotel was clean but dated. Food was good but felt repetitive. Lots of rude Russians were there. Staff was kind and polite. Beach is beautiful. Not enough places are open to get drinks, which results in long lineups. Hotel deserves only a 3 or 3 and a half star, in my opinion. Good value trip though seeing how we only paid $1,610 CDN for two people for one week.

Melia Marina Varadero: Very Large Resort

The resort itself is very modern and the grounds are huge. There is a shuttle cart that comes around regularly if you want a ride to the beach. Beach was really nice. Staff pleasant and room maid great. The food was terrible except for the egg station in the morning. There were so many basic things missing every day such as sliced bread, condiments (mustard, ketchup, salad dressings, oil & vinegar). Last half of the week there was no cheese, only blue cheese everywhere. I'm glad we got a B [... read more]lack Friday Deal because I would've have been really upset paying full price. Hola Sun good and Air Transat a great airline thats on time. Would not return to this resort as I have been to lower star resorts in Varadero with better food and entertainment.
