Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Club Amigo Guardalavaca

I have been to this resort many times. It was off season and the Bungalow section was closed. We got the last plane out on Sunday before they shut the Holguin airport down for the hurricane. This resort has everything I need: Swim-up bar, restaurants, buffet, beautiful beach, clean rooms. The plus of this resort is the wonderful, kind, attentive staff. It is a scenic one hour bus ride from the airport. We have stayed in the "barracks" and the Tropical section. Both have good points. The [... read more] tropical section close to the pool and beach but no balcony. The Barracks ground floor has a walk out patio which was a bonus. The 24-hour bar had moved since they were doing work on the roof. All in all this resort is perfect for the price and the weather has always been consistently hot and sunny no matter which month we are there. Great bang for the buck!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Fantastic stay in Cuba

Just got back from a week at Rio de Oro and had an amazing time! The resort and staff were terrific - very welcoming and accomodating. We enjoyed the synchronized swimming shows in the swimming pool (especially the one at night) and snorkelling right off the beach. A lot of effort was made to keep the guests happy and entertained. Paradisus Rio De Oro: Not a 5 star resort !

Water is full of rocks, the beach is small , the food is not good at the buffet. Buffet is outside, full of birds that are eating from plates, poof variety of food. If you want a decent vacation and a nice beach you have to upgrade to royal services.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Amazing

The resort was clean and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. We had no trouble with anything there. Brisas is just like a home away from home. This is my second time staying here, I'll definitely stay again

Paradisus Rio De Oro: 6x a Charm

I have stayed at this resort 6x and will continue to. Why change perfection? The people, food, entertainment and accommodation were Excellent. The hotel manager John Mark taught me the proper way to light and smoke a cigar. I always learn something from this resort. The restaurants have amazing selection and service. Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Going downhiill

This was my 7th time of Club Amigo and I would not go back. Waiters and waitresses very nice and very hospitable but the front desk people leave a lot to be desired. I mainly went to this hotel because the price was right but it is not worth it any more. I am 73 years old and asked for Villa close to main amenities, they had me in a villa #9 which is like a 15 minute walk to front desk and at my age it is too far to go back and forth. I had to spend the first night in this Villa and they chan [... read more]ged me to room in Villa building number 3 the next day after much arguing. They know me at front desk and how often I have stayed there but it made no difference. The Sun Wing rep was hard to find, never around. Security was bad, had my expensive bath towel stolen from lounge while I was in ocean. Safe didn't work, battery problem and it took a few days to get this ironed out so had to use friends safe to keep money etc. Hotel looked seedy and in repair. I brought along a friend who had never been to Cuba before and he was very disappointed with hotel and services. He stayed in main building and they charged him $1.00 a day for fridge, $1.00 a day for safe..he might as well have stayed in Villa. He had problems getting repairs done too. Food was not up to par as previous and the hotel was quite empty but the worst was the attitude of the front desk staff. Also very dark to walk around at night...they need more lighting, had to buy flashlight to see to go to disco and other places at night. We have friends booked to stay at Club Amigo in December(they were with me previously) and I am advising them to change hotels. Hope this helps you out, price is right and know it is only 3 star but not worth the hassle. And always you are given a awful room the first night and after much arguing they move you the next morning. They definitely do not read or adhere to comments you make when you make booking. I know my wife requested a villa in Villa 6 and for it to be close to amenities and you assured me that you put this in instructions to hotel but it didn''t mean anything. It is a shame they are letting things go,previously it was okay for the costs but like I say will not be back there and I go to Cuba, Holguin , quite often on business but I wont be staying at Club Amigo.By the way your service was great and I would definitely call you for my next travel arrangements.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Could be a 5 Star Resort!!!!!!

This was a leisure trip for me. The best thing I could have done for myself!!!! * Chrystal clear blue water at the beach. Went out for miles and miles and still was not deep. Loved the snorkelling by the way. * Pools were amazing. More then one to choose from. The pools also had there own waterfalls - breathe taking. * Staff were so friendly; right up until my last day. Loved the La Carte's. Your entitled to 3 during a 7 night stay. * Rooms are huge and bright with a great package price. Please Note: There is a lot of waking and red ant with mosquitos. There is a shuttle to drive you around the resort, however did not always show up when called for so did the long walk to Main Lobby anyway.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Excellent for Seniors

Amazing Hotel for Seniors but NOT for the young people! Very relaxed place ... NO lively environment there .... Service is GREAT .. No young people around even in work force there. Very beautiful place. Beach is NOT that GREAT, but okay! Overall I would prefer PLAYA COSTE VERDE!!!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great vacation!

Me and my husband stayed in Paradisus Rio De Oro during a second week of September 2016. Overall we had a great vacation, considering it was during a low season and there were renovations going on. The only negative thing that stood out for us was the fact, that the buffet restaurant is located in an open restaurant setting and it could be quite hot and humid in there. My husband was complaining about the " long pants" rule for attending a buffet dinner. On top of it, the chairs had sticky han [... read more]dles and upholsteries were really stained. The tables had no tablecloth, there were just plastic runners and cutleries were placed directly on it. Well, I understand that there is a problem with water generally and maybe that is why the tables had no tablecloth? Overall, we were happy to stay in this hotel, it has a beautiful settings, a lot of lounging areas to enjoy the scenery, food was very tasty. I would have enjoyed more types of beer, not only light beer in the fridge. In the middle of our stay, we were moved to another room, all went smoothly and staff was very helpful. One more thing, we could have had 4 a la card restaurant bookings, but the gentleman who was reserving our tables managed to book only 3 dinners, and there seem to be no initiative to help with the 4th one. It seemed, there was an expectation of us to reserve one in the Royal area, where we would have to pay for it and we were not interested, so after that, there was nothing available in Mediterranean restaurant. That had left a negative impression. Otherwise, I would return again.

Brisas Guardalavaca: fantastic resort

the hotel was clean,staff were great and always willing to help. The food was very good and plenty of it. the bar was always open. The beach was clean and very safe. the view was amazing. lots to at the resort. something always going on. The staff all spoke English to some degree. I will be going back again next year.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Worst vacation EVER!!

This was our 7th trip to Cuba, first time to Holguin. We read the reviews on trip advisor and we must say this was the worst vacation we have ever taken. The resort was a disappointment, the food was awful and it wasn't very clean. Locals approach you on the beach and in the water for money, food and toiletries. Several staff members actually asked for money because they were not paid enough at the resort. And to top it all off...our room was broken into and we were made to feel like the cr [... read more]iminals when we informed the hotel and our Rep, our first trip ever of not feeling safe.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Returning Guest

Let me preface this by saying we are amongst the many returning guest population for this resort. Is it perfect? No. It is a 3* resort in a more remote area of Cuba (no hustle and bustle like Veradero). This time we travelled in ultra low season (approx 200 guests in a resort where the capacity is well over 1000). Not all sections were open. There were non-invasive repairs and maintenance happening. Dont go there expecting 5* north american standards as you are not going to be pleased. Go with realistic expectations and dont sweat the small stuff and you will soon be a repeater like the rest of us...lol.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Our home away from home!!!

We love Club Amigo!!! Have been there 7 times. The staff are amazing and remember us each time. The improvements they are making are great and the food was delicious. Can't wait to go back. We are always welcomed back with a lobster dinner.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Cuba's Treasure

This was our 7th trip to Brisas Guardalavaca and truly won't be the last. Amazing people, good food and lovely beach. Not a thing to complain about. I could continue to rave - check it out you won't be sorry.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Good for the price

We went with low expectations and they were met. We had an ocean view room in the hotel. The view was beautiful. The rooms are run down. The air conditioner struggled to cool the room and could not remove the humidity. As a result everything felt wet after a few days. The beach offered the best snorkelling we've seen in Cuba but not for a novice. We had to swim out 200-300 metres to the reef. The food was adequate. We always found something good to eat at all meals. We tried 2 a la cartes an [... read more]d they were good - lobster at both. We enjoyed the hotel but once was enough. We paid almost half of what we've paid at other resorts and felt we got our money's worth.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Excellent Resort

Excellent Resort, will be returning next year...hotel rooms are very small & old, really need a face lift....didn't enjoy a good night sleep due to the pillows wich was very hard & need to be a bit flat....the Villa is the best is the best way to go, lots of room.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Fantastic!

The resort was very friendly and clean! The staff were always pleasant and there was always enough to eat and drink. My only complaint if any was that when the stairs/your shoes were wet it was extremely slippery. Other than that we will be back! :)

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great Time

all around very cleanly. the grounds looked well taken care of and it was very central to the market and horseback riding and so on. plenty of activities for the everyday adventurer and fairly quiet and quaint for the more relaxed. really enjoyed my stay here!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Not what I expected this trip

I have been to this hotel a few times in the past & was happy with the place until this trip.I spent a fair amount of money on this trip & the first night was to be a special night when I arrived. The first day they destroyed for me. My girlfriend met me at the airport & came to the resort from there with me. I had special plans for that night but the resort destroyed them for me by treating my girl friend like she was garbage & not allowing me to pay for her to stay with me. She is a good woman [... read more] & they treated her like she was something else. Because of the way they treated her & I , I ended up renting a room off the resort for her and I the first night. The next day I raised hell through our travel agent there & was able to go over some peoples heads & get my girlfriend on the resort with me. At a good cost of course. The swim up bar was not operating at times nor the snack bar beside it leaving one to have to go back to the lobby for drinks. After some trouble with the weather, the 24 hour bar was shut down. This left only the El benny bar beside it open only for some drinks and no where to go for snacks or food in between. They did not bother to set up anything else for the people. El Benny would serve beer only, then go all the way to the far side beside the swim up bar only to find out all you could get was a small sandwich, ham and cheese, & not good. There was to many things that we were supposed to get for the money we spent that was not there for us. As for the workers there & the rooms, they were pleasant as always. for the most part. I liked this hotel because of where it is located close to the beach & the area around it, but this time I was not happy with not only the way they treated me and my girl, but also the lack of serves that we as paying customers were supposed to receive to make our trip enjoyable. I was very disappointed with this trip. I did and will recommend this resort in the future if they change some of the ways they do things. If they ever treat me this way again, I will never recommend this resort again to any of my friends & I will do follow up reviews on line in the future. Ps: I am to be married to this girl in the near future & would have liked it to be special in this area I call home in Cuba.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: beautiful large resort

The grounds of the resort were nice, well maintained. The resort was huge. Many activities all over the resort. Staff were friendly and helpful. Buffet food was limited, not a lot of choices. A la carte restaurants were very good. Pools were clean. Rooms were a good size. Air conditioner had a difficult time keeping the room cool. Had bugs on the beds in the room. Animation team did a good job getting tourists involved in activities.
