Valentin Perla Blanca: INCREDIBLE!!!!! 2nd visit and still great after Irma

This resort is great from start to finish. We did get a not so nice room but were switched the next morning. The left side of the beach is the best and we only used the pool to sand-off (was pretty cool for the pool in january). French à la carte was the very best! The buffet was great except one meal that seemed like they were running out of food. We still ate and drank more than enough and had an amazing time and met really awesome people. Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Great resort

This was our first time to Cuba. We were there from Feb 2 to the 9th. Dhawa was the right choice for us. Very clean, big rooms, all staff were great and helpful. Food was very good. The beach was clean and had good service at it as well. We were greeted everyday by one of two great servers. Always had our coffee ready. And if they were there for dinner our wine was poured as soon as we were at the door. The coffee bar/lobby bar had awesome coffee every day. Only issue we had was the hot  [... read more]water in our room wasn’t working, told the front desk and it was fixed within 15 min. The night shows were good and the music in the lobby at night was very good. We were leary on Cuba after hearing some horror stories from some reviews. This resort took away all our fears and we are going back next year with our kids to enjoy another great holiday.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Great week at Iberostar Ensenachos

We had a wonderful week Feb 1 to 8. Rooms in the family area are spacious with walk in closet which worked as a modesty change room. Unfortunately i am a magnet for mosquitos or sand flea bites every trip south. Never saw a mosquito actually bite me but i have about 40 itchy bite marks. My four other travellers suffered no bites. Long walk from rooms to buffet etc and my husband has knee problems so we called for the grounds shuttles which were very reliable. Food was well pr [... read more]epared but limited and bland but expected for Cuba. Signage in buffet restaurant and a la carte menus often misrepresented the food presented. A customer service rep approached us for comments near the end of our visit and made notes of all our feedback and appeared appreciative of our suggestions. Great place for kids with the waterpark with slides etc. And not too crowded. Lots of lounge chairs for parents to sit in to keep an eye on them. Low tide afforded kids to be able to wade in thigh-high water to see fish, crabs, and occasional starfish without having to snorkel. Shows were nice and featured live music vs recorded compared to other resorts. Will likely return if travelling wlith kids but prefer food at playa costa verde, Holguin. Return trip to Ottawa included Hour and half bus to santa clara airport and having to sit on plane for extended period in Caya Coco while remaining seated Meant we were 11 hours getting home whereas the flight down was only 4.5 hr hrs. Direct flight both ways would have been great. However price was excellent for Sunwiing from Edmonton and Airtransat from Ottawa as i was paying for five passengers in total and could not have afforded other carriers.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: good times!

Great place to visit but too far for us from airport. Staff were great and always smiling. Rooms are fine however pillows suck. Lots to eat but if you are picky go to Jamaica. Love the Cuban people!!!

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Not too shabby!

Just what the doctor ordered. Only issue was the pillows in the rooms..not great. Entertainment is lacking and too far from airport. Other than that everything else was awesome! Go and have some fun..

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: A True Paradise at Golden Tulip Aguas Claras Resort

The grounds at this resort are well maintained, The dining area and main lobby are spacious. I stayed in Block 15 on the second floor. I had an amazing view of ocean. I was travelling with my family and friends. There was four teenagers and a 10 year old. My family stayed in Block 18. Everyone had a Great time. My grand kids loved the buffet and 24 hour snack bar. Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Excellent Resort

WE had an amazing time at the Golden Tulip... The sunwing rep was fantastic... He helped get a electrician to come to our room to help with a machine we thought we had blown up... Supberb service...The rooms were clean only problem was the patio door did not lock so had to leave the room unlocked at all times....The pools were great and with so many areas to eat one should never be hungry at this resort... Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great Vacation

We had a wonderful week at Ocean Casa del Mar. The beach was great with plenty of chairs available. Any issues were dealt with in a timely manner. There was always a good selection of food at the buffet so never had a problem finding something to eat. Enjoyed all the coffees at Mike’s Cafe.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Large, amazing resort

The hotel is very large, which suited me as I enjoyed walking everywhere, but my dad has a bad leg so we relied pretty heavily on the trollies which sometimes took a while to arrive to our villa. Otherwise, I think the selection of food was decent although the Italian a-la-carte wasn't good. The employees at the resort are amazing. Lianny at the buffet is a very kind, attentive host and she made a lasting impression. Alonso at the lobby bar is also a noteable person during our trip... after our first encounter, he remembered our names and always went beyond our expectations to provide us with excellent customer service and was very social. It's these two people who made our trip exceptional, and we will be returning as soon as we can. The pool is also very nice, although a little chilly when you first submerge. Once you're in the water though it's great. The pool bar staff were also very sociable, and quick to take our orders. There were always plenty of empty pool chairs to choose from. I wish they had shade for the parents around the kid zone's water park, because it can get hot watching them play, but otherwise the equipment was well maintained and the kids had a blast. The beaches were very nice as well, but we did get bit by sand fleas. Note to self: don't put your things on your bed when you return to your room from the beach, as you may find yourself scratching the next day. We didn't manage to snorkel while we were down, and the low/high tide is pretty significant, so it might not be the best place to snorkel off the beach unlike other places we've been, but this was a relaxing trip. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the balconies are also very nice. I sat out every evening and enjoyed the atmosphere. They have a lot of American channels, too, so if you prefer lounging in your AC room at night, there is plenty to watch on TV. The wifi in the lobby was decent to place calls on Whatsapp, but could be spotty at times and in the evenings there is always a big gathering of guests so it can get quite noisy, but we managed (I just had to remind myself that I wasn't in Cuba for the internet!) I would recommend this hotel to a friend, and plan on making another trip soon.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Can't wait to visit again! Great resort!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria was a wonderful resort. It is beautiful, the food was great, the staff was welcoming, helpful and always smiling. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, the rooms were great. We were a group of 10 guests, 6 of them were returning guests to the resort, this was our first time.. We will become returning guests as well! So many guests we met were there before and keep going back. Highly recommend.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing resort!

Gorgeous landscape, super friendly and helpful staff, amazing pool & very close to a beautiful beach. The Buffett had food for everyone with a huge selection and the entertainment all over the resort -EVERY night- took it to another level! Very happy with our stay and hope to return someday.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Not to bad

The staff were really good i would give them a 5* but the bathrooms were really gross, dirty, no toilet paper, some no toilet seat. Our bedsheets never got changed and are beach towel never got replaced untill we figured out that we take them to get new ones. Food was not the greatest. Cuban was scrambles left over dried pork, and chicken sanwichs taste like tuna. Drinks are really good and they sure give u lots. Service was great. Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: A Pleasant Surprise

The Dhawa was an unexpected surprise. Having been to Cuba quite a number of times, I have seen many resorts get a bit rundown. The Dhawa was entirely the opposite. It’s a new resort that looks like it’s new. The room we had was fabulous. We had a third floor room overlooking the pool and it was fantastic. The pool area was great. If it’s your first time to Cuba you should probably be aware of a few things. Be prepared to tip often. While it’s certainly not required, you may feel obligated because you will see so many other guests doing so. As well, although the food is good, you may find it a bit bland compared to other sun destinations. Also, you will find that the resort does simply run out of stuff. For instance, none of the bars had tonic water for two days. That’s just Cuba.

Valentin Perla Blanca: My review

Just came back on Feb 7, 2018 after spending a week at this hotel. I will not complain about the food because it's Cuba. You should know already. Always go to Cuba with a bottle of ketchup and you'll survive the week. Hotel is great, grounds are maintained, washrooms can use some better cleaning or air fresheners. Rooms are absolutely beautiful but bring a pillow if you have issues with sleeping in a 2 inch tall king size pillow cause that's what they have. Beaches are fairly clean and wa [... read more]ter was as you would expect it in Cuba. Beach could've used a clean up of the seaweed that washed ashore. I know I've seen them do it in Varadero. If you're looking to book up then it's a great place for single girls and guys. I was with my wife but we both observed this. There's not much to do outside of the hotel except their excursions but if you're going for a relaxing break it's the spot for you.

The food was excellent and the cheeses were fantastic, every kind imaginable! Even a picky eater would have no problem finding something to eat there. The staff were great and very helpful when you needed something. We had a fabulous vacation in Cuba! 👍

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: amazing resort

The resort was very nice looking: the 2 different pool areas - beautiful and well equipped with chairs and shades for tourists to enjoy them. The beach, a bit small, but white sand and lots of chairs, but fewer shaded areas. The bars, the lobby - nice looking all. The rooms - beautiful and clean. The restaurants - so so... the best one: romatico restaurant (a la carte), then the buffet one, then Guirro (a la carte), and the last one the Italian (a la carte) one. The trip of jeep safari was great and worth the money. we didn't have the driver licence with us, so we paid extra money for their driver (you could drive your own jeep in this trip, visiting 2 farms). our only huge problem was some very little flies (maybe sand flies) that bit us and was very itchy for many days! we are still scratching our bites after 4-5 days... so enjoy the trip!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Great Resort and amazing staff!

Fantastic resort perfect size no hikes to get to the pools or lobby etc. Service is great. Everyone is very friendly. Food was best I have had in Cuba. We enjoy al carte dining. Only did buffet once. Pools where cool due to weather but gorgeous. Beach was the best for cleanliness, sun shelter, comfort and service compared to the other resorts close by that we walked past. Definitely would go back !

Pros: Nice rooms - Beautiful pool - Smiling and helpful personnel makes life easy - Very good drinks Cons : Distance from the airport and everything else (90 min.) - Very Repetitive choices at the buffet and snack bar and I am not a fussy person

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Just like the pictures

This was a really great hotel. My husband put a really thorough review on Google with pictures if you want to see it. I found the hotel to be very nice, newer (built in 2013 I think) great staff and pretty decent food for Cuba (seafood was the best). The beach was beautiful with white sand beaches. We didn't have a lot of sun when we were there but it was because of hurricane Irma that went through not long ago. The staff is always amazing and they have such a beautiful culture. We did a day trip as well to the coal reef and dolphin center which I would very much say is worth going too. Great time, lots of dolphin interaction and wonderful lobster lunch. I would very much recommend this resort.

Valentin Perla Blanca: It’s a no !

Well for our first time going to Cuba I must say it was an experience we won’t soon forget. 1st day 12hr delay in flight(Cubana Air). Won’t fly with them again. Requested to stay second floor or higher. Was put on Ground floor. As soon as the room door was opened we could smell the musty and Mold. Went back to front desk right away to get room change. It took us 5 days to get a room change. pool bar ran out of beer everyday took a longtime for them to refill. No body came around to see if yo [... read more]u wanted anything to drink by the pool.Food was ok. Spanish restaurant not what we expected.. The grounds was dirty lots of Cigarette buds. Big resort. Nightlife entertainment was ok. They didn’t refill toilet paper at nighttime in the bathrooms by the bar. We saw a cleaning girl pour her dirty water on the plants in the main lobby. The staff only a couple of people were nice. We did go on a 3 city tour that was good. Didn’t realize we had to buy toilet paper or bring your own one spot you had to pay to use bathroom.
