Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing and memorable trip!

The resort was amazing!! Employees are super nice! Room was great! down fall they were small beds. Cleaning staff did a great job everyday and were very friendly! The restaurants were amazing. Buffet was ok but didn't have a lot of variety. You go to Cuba for the sun not the food! IT wasn't horrible I mean we still gained weight! If you can go to the a la carte's every night, you should try!! Buffet does have omelet bar and past bar. Pools were spectacular! Magician was excellent! There is an ice cream bar and a cotton candy bar. the liquid bars were also great! Beach was beautiful. It was disappointing that the weather didn't permit us to swim because of red flags. I can't say enough good things about this resort!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Nice, quiet resort

Rooms were nice and large. Large balcony as well. Food was ok, just got tired of eating the same dishes every night. Mixing it up would be good. Enjoyed the two ala cartes we had. Very good 80's rock & roll band one evening. More of a quiet resort geared towards families. Take bug spray. We had a lot of bites. Beach was nice. You can tell they are rebuilding. Was not as lush as it usually would be.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Insult & Disrespect on the beach!

On the beach, below Canadian flag is flag of Province of Quebec ONLY. This is disrespect and insult for Canadians from other provinces of Canada. Resort is set on a beautiful garden. Rooms are large and very modern with super cleaning service. Plenty of very tasty food everywhere, especially soups prepared by chef Henrick. Only variety of salad dressing was missing. There are many activities in the lower lobby, including music bands and mini disco every night. Bartender Miriala is super! Melia Las Dunas: Food

Buffet is always the same everyday no bacon in the breakfast and everything is cold and at the pool bar drinks are to small they are juste a little bigger than a shooter glass and the bus ride is to far from the airport.

Valentin Perla Blanca: very clean and pretty

all the workers were great and a joy to talk to. the facilities were very clean and beautiful and beach was wonderful both ways but never had the chance for the water activities due too poor weather but that never stopped us from having fun with our new friends we meet. besides not the greatest selection of food that was eatable this resort was overwhelmed with our friends from Quebec that lived up to their reputation of just plain rude sorry everyone else with manners over all good place  [... read more]but would try another if i get a chance to go back

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Wow

People are amazing without any questions they are always there to help you. The service everywhere is perfect except the room service they will take away pillows and not been personal I could understand not having a good week but like I said overall it was amazing

I really only have couple of things to complain about! The pool was very cold and lots of dirt! Mini fridge wasn’t restocked only twice! And the kids activities where only 1/2 hr in the evening nothing through the day!

Grounds were pretty good they are getting cleaned up still in some areas from the hurricane. The food was ok, best at the restaurants that we booked. Beach was the nicest I have ever seen. the People were always friendly

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Great pools and beach

The hotel was clean and the room was impeccable.We always had water and our fridge was always full.The buffet was a bit repetitive.The snack bar(only one the others never open) was OK some days missing food !The pools were great enough chairs for everyone .More entertainment would be nice maybe some dancing!The weather wasn't great lots of wind but over all we relaxed.

Memories Paraiso: Bad resort

Definitely not even a 3 star resort, more like a 2 star resort. Bed bugs that bite us up everywhere. Weather was horrible. The phones and coffee machine did not work in rooms. Constantly had to ask front desk to give us water bottles in our room and restock fridge.

Memories Paraiso: Below average resort

There were bed bugs, dirty washrooms, and insects everywhere. The 24 hour snack bar was always busy and it took over an hour to normally get food. Phones and coffee machine in rooms did not work and when we told front desk about it, they did absolutely nothing.

Valentin Perla Blanca: very nice!

The resort is large and well kept. The beach is stunning. The room was clean and service was good. There is only one buffet which gets really busy. The restaurants were a nice change from the buffet. All in all it is a good resort and great value for the cost.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Exceptional treatment

The staff was so accommodating and the food was so much better than I expected . My room was so clean and I had the best time . The only thing I didn’t like is the last day I was supposed to have a full day but instead I had to wait at airport for 5 hours cause only one bus from my resort

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great Value

Clean bright rooms, courteous staff and mostly well maintained grounds. (Post Irma considered) Public toilets were always an exception as it seemed there was a stall or urinal out of service in every public washroom. Although I was staying in a newly renovated bungalow, updates are an ongoing procedure. Some, while clean, are older wiith somewhat stale decor and others are closed for renovation. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Nice Place to stay!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria We visited the resort for 7 days January 18-25. The flight with from Halifax with Sunwing was good and on time both ways, we did upgrade to Elite Plus and used the VIP lounge on our return trip, both worth the extra cost. The bus ride to the resort was 1 ½ hours but quite enjoyable as we did get to see a lot of the countryside, think of it as a free excursion. When we arrived at the resort we were whisked off to the Sanctuary Lobby where we allocate [... read more]d a room. We did request a top floor room with some kind of a view when booking, what we got was a ground floor room on the backside of the building with a view of nothing much but a dirt pile and a few bushes. We did mention this to our “Butler” he sort of shrugged his shoulders and did little more about it other than say we would have to talk to reception. I did talk to the receptionist and she said it was all that was available and had no record of our request. We spent night one in the room, next morning……. no hot water and the closet door fell off . At the orientation meeting I talked to the Sunwing rep and explained what was going on, and found out that I had paid for a better class of room than we were allocated, he got the ball rolling and we were moved to a deluxe room (which is what was on our contract) in a nice building (58) with a superb view. Things Improved greatly from there on. After the move we had two great Butlers, Sergio and Jordi, they would book our ala carte meals and would try make things right or help if you had any problems. Our maid, Yanis, did an impeccable job of keeping our room clean and the beer, pop and water guy was reliable too. Food: As for the food, you are not going to starve! The food is typical Cuban resort food, some excellent some is awful. Generally you can’t go wrong with breakfast, there is always some alternative to the buffet for lunch, such as the beach grill at the Sanctuary, the best sandwiches on the resort, and other BBQ’s in the other sections and if you don’t like your ala carte meal leave and go to the buffet. The drinks were really good all over the resort anything we wanted they seemed to have and it wasn’t the cheap stuff! The beach is fantastic, the pools were well maintained, the grounds are coming along nicely, they are putting a lot of hard work into the recovery from Irma and it shows, and in fact the guests probably would not realize that they had such a storm other than a few damaged trees. Overall it is a good resort and it’s best assets are the “people on the ground”, the maids, gardeners, waiters and all the other manual workers, these are the guys that make it all work.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Second Time Back and going back again !

Love this resort !! No shortage of good food. Grounds are well kept. Beach is among the best we've ever been to. Staff is friendly and courteous.Pool bar tenders Poppy and Ray are always at the ready to serve a drink !

Roc Lagunas del Mar: My 1st time to Cuba

Right from the start we encountered a 12 hour flight delay with Cubana Air.....if booking beware! No one taking responsibility at this point.... Rooms at hotel were very nice, pools were great, beach was amazing, entertainment average, drinks good, staff great, food disappointing!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Okay

There were some good things and bad about the hotel. The food was very mediocre the first couple of days and then it improved and was very good. They had wonderful coffee and a coffee bar open 24 hours. The staff were great and the entertainment was top notch. There seemed to be a shortage of toilet paper after the first couple of days. It was not replenished in the public bathrooms for the rest of the week and you had to bring your own. Even in our room I had to go ask for it. Roc Lagunas del Mar: Resort Lagunas del Este in Santa Maria, Cuba OK

My husband, sister and I visited Hotel Lagunas del Este in Santa Maria, Cuba the last week of January. It was a last minute get away for us all trying to escape the cold. The temps in Cuba were perfect and we had a mixed bag of overcast and clear days during our stay. The resort was very clean and spacious, the rooms were well kept with no smell of mildew. The main lounge was spectacular, the pools were amazing with great loungers, the beach was beautiful with the turquoise waters as a back drop....a real beachcombers delight. As usual the food became boring real fast, chicken, beef and fish main dinner selections but the sides are not what we Canadians are used to... so as with most Cuba destinations take some of your own comfort snack foods. Great assortment of cheeses, this seems to be improving. El a carte Fusion was the best and a real treat. Drinks were great. Entertainment was as expected with nightly events. Double decker bus will take you to the markets at 2 pesos each way. There is a new small market about 10 minutes away with very limited number of vendors, bowling ally and disco. We have visited the larger market near Memories Parisio (Large Clock Tower) this is a better market for shopping. All in all a great trip, will continue to try other resorts on Santa Maria (heard from other travellers that the Tulip Resort was great and the food was better there. We paid $738.00pp for 7 days and were happy with our trip overall. Note: We did encounter a 12 hour flight delay going down to Cuba due to mechanical issues with the plane, this was handled poorly. After 7hrs in the airport (Pearson)they finally came to us and addressed the situation. They offered to take us to a local hotel to freshen up (2 hrs). Airline was Cubana Air. When we asked Hola Sun Rep at Hotel who do we talk to about this to see if there was any compensation as we lost a day they said Cubana Air.... Cubana Air said Hola Sun....... so not too hopeful :(

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Good Trip

We stayed at Casa Del Mer the week of January 23rd ,2018, being our first time in Cuba we had no idea what to expect. People were saying to bring your own ketchup which I did, and I was glad I did. The buffet was okay, lots of choices. There was an Italian restaurant which we booked, but the service was the worse so we ended up walking out, the food was okay. As for the rooms, they were nice and spacious especially the large shower! There are 2 negatives issues that I can say and that is to bring your own toilet paper, oh my it was a nightmare to get toilet paper. We would have to walk into the men's washroom to take there toilet paper. Not enough entertainment at the pool for the teenagers or kids. Overall it was nice, lots of walking and bring bug spray.
