Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Could have been great...but wasn't.

Hotel grounds are lovely and staff are very pleasant. The food is one major weak spot. One cannot get butter for one's bread anywhere...only margarine! Always a shortage of bacon at the breakfast buffet, though the lady cooking eggs and omelets was efficient, pleasant and cheerful. Despite all of our strawberries, blueberries and blackberries coming from Mexico at this time of year, none found their way to the resort. The "fish of the day" at the French restaurant was tilapia...give me a bre [... read more]ak! Portion sizes at the specialty restaurants were generally scant and the quality of the food was not high. Chicken was almost all dark meat. The so-called "steakhouse" had a small filet (maybe 3 or 4 ounces) as the only steak on the menu. We have been here several times before and stay on the adult side at the Hacienda. Sitting at the pool was relaxing until they suddenly cranked up disco-style Euro-Tech boom-boom-boom music at 1130 am onwards...destroying our peace and enjoyment. It took many of us complaining to management numerous times before the music was taken down... after three days of squawking. They can play that crap on the the family side...this was supposed to be an ADULT resort. Our room was great, the location is also good but we will be going somewhere else on next year's trip to Puerto Vallarta.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Awesome resort

Very friendly staff. If resorts are your vibe this is definitely a great spot to bring your family. The food is decent as far as resorts go. Tons of activities and lots of great amenities. We had a great time!

It's a very clean resort. The grounds were well kept and maintained. The bathrooms and dining were very clean. We enjoyed all the facilities at the resort. The staff members were polite, pleasant, warm and very friendly. The staff members were very pleasant. The kids club was amazing and the entertainment team was amazing.

Dreams Huatulco: Outstanding Resort

Dreams is perfectly located near the airport and the local town. The resort is amazing and the food is fantastic. Sometimes only certain restaurants are open but there is always something going on. If you are a planner, use the app to plan and go to all the restaurants. Beach is awesome and there is snorkelling, kayaking, sailing available - great swimming beach. I loved the infinity pools with the spectacular ocean view. Chairs by the pool are easy to find and you do not need to get up early!!  [... read more] Staff are wonderful and pleasant. I would definitely go back.

Krystal Grand Cancun: Go Elsewhere

Pros: 1. Nice location 2. Very nice beach 3. Good poolside/beach side service 4. Decent breakfast 5. Nice pools Cons: 1. Lunch and Dinner Buffett -same menu as each other, and every day, not very good, little variety, little to no seafood. The buffet has no AC and they do not have the terrace section open which is the nicest part. It’s a bit ridiculous to be waiting to get into the buffet as well. 10-15 minute waits sometimes 2. Dumb restaurant reservation at 9am by Internet, will fil [... read more]l up, quick. This changed partway through but nobody was told - could not book reservations 3. No ice cream. The snack bar that is 24 hours, is not 24 hours and charges about $5 usd for a scoop. The buffet deserts suck. 4. “o week” - a couple hundred Mexican kids came for a grad trip and made the stay unenjoyable. The noise from 2am-4am kept us and many other guests awake. The hotel staff just watched. Nobody told them to be quiet or leave. The hotel lobby design with the central atrium means that noise in the lobby will be heard by everyone. This was every night that we were there - 4 in a row. We left while they remained, so I am sure it continued. Staff was useless in remedying this. 5. 4 elevators. 2 permanently out of service. The other 2 worked intermittently, and were too small to accommodate the traffic. Further there is no AC or air flow at all, it becomes disgusting. Stairwells are marked poorly as well. If you are lower level stairs will work, but God help you if you are on the 14th floor. 6. Little useful information provided upon check in, no map. 7. Our room was old

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Loved the resort

The buffet was terrific—wonderful food The kids club for our grandchildren, 2 seven year olds and one five year old, was great, they loved going and often didn’t want to leave A very well organized resort— they responded immediately to any requests All in all, a wonderful time had by all And Air Transat’s flight, pick up and delivery were excellent, far superior to Air Canada Vacations last year

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Nice resort

This resort is very large and required a lot of walking. The grounds were very nice and well kept. The room was large and clean, fridge was restocked daily and the towels were replenished however we were never given face clothes. The buffet had a good variety of food. The pools were very nice and clean although they were missing tiles on the bottom.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Amazing Amazing !

We loved Everything about our stay at Secrets in Akumal. The service was TOP NOTCH. The food was great. The grounds were clean and gorgeous. Our room was perfect. Entertainment was good. Did NOT like the 'time share' presentation. They were very very pushy, extremely 'high pressured' and it affected our happy mood (but we got over it)

Riu Caribe Cancun: Excellent hotel and vacation experience.

Many aspects of this hotel are world class. Newly renovated with contemporary design, and maintained in spotless condition. RIU do this kind of vacation experience very, very well and have brought a 'Euro vibe' with the 'RIU Party' themes held at this hotel, in a purpose-build area. These are very lively, wonderfully organised, and very well managed security-wise etc. Food was excellent for this kind of '5 star' all-inclusive experience. Breakfast service, with the table staff was a bit sparce and slow, and having water glasses at the table would have been good. Lunch and dinner had better service; dinner service had water glasses. Wine quality was decent and typical of these hotels. The 'a-la-carte' restaurants, whilst I think these are never of the standard of actual external high-end restaurants were, nonetheless, very good; the food was delicious and the service excellent. The bar staff were attentive and friendly; the swim-up-bar the best I have experienced, with the staff having a wonderful, fun-loving attitude and keeping the drinks flowing. The sports bar is well air-conditioned and a welcome break from the heat. The reception moved my room as I didn't get my booking when I arrived. They were extremely helpful. The rooms, again newly renovated, were the best I have experienced on these vacations - well equipped, comfortable beds, very clean - housekeeping is excellent. Beach was very good - beautiful sand, not much seaweed (cleared every morning). Seawater quality was excellent. The adjoining RIU hotel seemed to permit beach access which made the beach seem a bit longer, although, disappointingly, access to this RIU hotel was not permitted. I did walk one day 4km to another RIU hotel to which I had access. Again, it was very good but not as good as this one. In this area of Cancun, hotels are closer together and the whole experience is more intense than, say, Playa del carmen. That's the kind of holiday this is - more lively and a terrific hotel for groups and parties. It is somewhat child-friendly, but not significantly so. I was very impressed with and thoroughly recommend this hotel. If I go back to Cancun, I would want to stay here. Well done RIU!

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Fantastic resort

We loved our stay here and would recommend. The lazy river is fantastic and a great way to move around the resort. The staff were friendly. The pools were clean and we didn’t see any algae which is hard to do with hot weather. We went to 6 of the restaurants and loved the Peruvian and Mexican restos. The ceviche was incredible at the Peruvian. Our room was lovely and we had an amazing view of the ocean. No complaints at all. Nadia the concierge was fantastic in helping us out last minute. Just [... read more] don’t do the timeshare presentation. It is isn’t a deal at all. On a high note, we saw the dolphin show and it was very educational and entertaining. What a fun week. Bring your snorkel because you can snorkel right at the beach.

Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort and Spa: Hyatt Ziva

Rooms and resort was very clean ! Rooms were massive and clean, comfortable beds . The staff was was friendly, but I found they were lacking staff. The wait times for dinner were about 2 hours . Felt like they didn’t have enough staff for service, the staff they did have worked so hard and running around like crazy , I felt bad for them . The chair situation by the pools were a bummer cause if you didn’t wake up at 6 am to claim a spot you were screwed for the day . Oh and the beach sucked , you [... read more] couldn’t even go in , was so rocky and tons of seed weed . My 10 year old said it was the best trip ever! It’s a very family friendly resort, he really enjoyed the water park. Oh ya 1 more to add, maybe for the coffee shop you guys should set up a grab and go self serve station with coffee. I waited 30 mins in line each day for a regular cup of coffee in the morning.

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Disappointing trip.

The hotel grounds and pools were lovely. Our kids 12 and 8 loved the water park. Unfortunately these were overshadowed by the poor customer service and terrible food. We couldn’t get into most of the a la carte restaurants, or had to wait 90+ minutes on a table. When we did get in the food was awful. My daughter was served a raw burger in the steakhouse. We heard of families with food poisoning after eating in one other restaurant. The food at the buffet was of very poor quality and was constant [... read more]ly running out.

Ocean Maya Royale: Beautiful Resort but room for improvement

Ocean Maya Royale is beautiful, grounds and beach/beachfront are immaculate and they work tirelessly to remove the sargassum that was plentiful due to a few red flag days. The pools are clean and warm. The food is generally ok though a fairly routine buffet. Breakfast was the best though line-ups for eggs are long with only one station. I recognize being a small resort limits the number of a la cartes but there aren’t many to choose from. The entertainment could be improved with more music offer [... read more]ed in the gorgeous lobby to enjoy while having a pre-dinner drink. However the outdoor stage where most of the later evening entertainment takes place means loud noise heard in most of the rooms until quite late. If you’re an early to bed person pick your room carefully. The staff were all gracious and hardworking.

Ocean Maya Royale: Great resort, bad beach

I loved the resort in general, very clean!! Rooms are spacious and comfortable. I didn’t touch the beach water, filled with seaweed you cant even swim. The food was good. I only got to try the mexican restaurant which got us sick. The open buffet was great, very good selection. Its very hard to reserve a table in the japanese restaurant. Staff were the nicest ever!!! They have activities throughout the days and it will never disappoint. I would give 3.8/5 just because of the food thing that mess [... read more]ed up a whole day and the beach.

Marival Emotions Resort and Suites Riviera Nayarit: Excellent accommodation, facilities and food. Great destination for families with young children.

The location in Nuevo Vallarta, a short Uber ride away from Puerto Vallarta and Bucerias was a plus. The fine sand beach was great although the water was too rough for swimming most of of the time. The cleanliness and the temperature of the pools was amazing. With four pools catering to different demographics and needs, the choices were appreciated. The quality and variety of food in the buffet restaurant was above average and serving it by the pool on several occasions was a nice touch. The  [... read more]specialty restaurants however need improvement. The steak and sea food one was not anything to write home about. At the Italian one the food was great but the service was so slow, the children were totally cranky by the time we were served. The Mexican one had good food and the service was good. One common theme in all of them is that the wines are exorbitantly priced. There were a number of bars around the facility, including in two of the pools. The one issue with them is quality control and consistency: heavy on the ice and varying amounts of liquor and/or mix from each bartender. We got the same four cocktails at the table at the Mexican restaurant and they all tasted different! The buffet, restaurant and bar staff need better training in customer service as some of them seem to be quite indifferent at times

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Great Place

We stayed for 10 days at the beginning of March. The location is excellent. One block from 5th avenue. The resort was clean, staff was friendly, food was excellent whether you went to the a la carte or buffet, and the rooms were spacious. We had no problem booking a la carte restaurants. We went to the restaurants 6 out of the 10 nights. One night we did the romantic lobster dinner. Highly recommend to pick the gazebo option. We went at 6:30 which was a perfect time to watch the sun go d [... read more]own. There are only a few downfalls to this resort. One is there isn't much of a beach and you can't swim in front of the resort because of the rock. If you walk one minute down the beach there is a nice swimmable area. There are no umbrellas at the beach so no shade if you are sitting in loungers unless you can somehow chase the shade under a tree, which are few. The pool area isn't the best. One side of the pool is filled with very crowded lounge chairs and the other half of the pool has cabanas that you have to rent at a costly daily fee. Tip - the cabanas on the beach that don't have a reserved number on them are first come. No charge.

Grand Park Royal Cozumel: Excellent resort

Great spot. Everyone there was super friendly. Very family friendly as well. Buffet was great. I don’t see why people were complaining. The Mexican restaurant on site was beautiful inside, but the food was not good. I just wanted a simple taco but no bueno. I’d go back for sure.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Barcelo Maya Tropical

This resort was always clean and tidy. Overall, it was huge and this required a lot of walking to get anywhere. This made it inconvenient, especially for anyone who might have trouble walking longish distances. I would not recommend this resort to seniors and would not go back myself for this reason. I found that there was not much variety in the food in the buffets from one day to the next.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Great pools and beach, terrible buffet food

The beach was beautiful and cleaned well of seaweed. The water was sparkling turquoise and warm. The sand was soft as silk. The pools were clean and the perfect temperature and depth. We especially loved the kids water park area at Tropical as we travelled with a six year old. It was dissapointing that we had to wake up at 5am each day run down to save loungers. I hate cooking but I would have preferred cooking to the buffet food. I was so disheartened to discover the entire resort didn’t have cream for coffee. Only milk. Seems small, but seriously. Cream for coffee is pretty standard. The rooms were clean and nice. I liked using the soap, shampoo and conditioner provided. I loved how the mini bar was stocked each day with bottles of water and pop. It would have been nice to have more than just Pepsi and 7Up. I’m not really a pop person but I did hear grumbles around the resort about lack of choices. Also, every day I passed at least ten people struggling to use their key card to enter their room. The mechanisms need replacing. Beautiful resort. Very large. Great for young people who can walk around easily. Not great for older people. We liked it but will look for something with better food options for our next trip.

El Dorado Casitas Royale: Nice resort

This resort is very nice and lush. The rooms were very clean and stocked. The people were very helpful and friendly. The only downside is there is no buffet at night you need to make reservations at the restaurants at the beginning of your stay and if you miss the reservation you get charged 10.00 per person. The breakfasts had good variety, the dinners were just ok. Also, if you go to the resort presentation it takes over 2 hours, not the 1 hour they told us. they are very pushy and aggressive [... read more] to the point where I told them that they were stressing me out. If you are a beach person this resort does not have the best beach, very rocky. Other than the comments above (which did not have a huge impact on our time at the resort) the resort was very nice. I would recommend this resort but just be aware of my comments about the dinner reservations and presentations.
