Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Our week stay in Grand Sirenis resort was very good !
The rooms in this hotel are very spacious and comfortable. We've got everything in our room we had asked for and we especially thank for that Tripcentral travel agent Karol Chareza.
We enjoyed the beach very much. It was very clean although resort personnel was constantly fighting seaweed battle. The resort beach area is surrounded by big rocks which allows to swim and snorkel every day despite big ocean waves.
The food was amazing and in big variety. Overall our vacation was great.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Do not go --want some sort of a refund!
While the entertainment and food were good--the beach was an absolute disaster! The picture on this review is NOT what it looks like. Seaweed--all brown the entire beach, no swimming. There were men piling it up on the shore and dump trucks daily taking it away. The noise of dump trucks on the beach all day with smell of rotting seaweed and gas. The piles and piles of seaweed were left on the shore to rot overnight and the entire Yukatan beach side had a rot smell all day!
We deserve a r[... read more]efund to travel that far without ever being told this is a huge problem in mexico right now!
The Yucatan side of the resort is run down, with chipped paint in the rooms and linens had pulls all over them.
The staff were friendly and kind.
We also had an incident of a man following our teenage daughters. This was disturbing as it was rumored that he is there often.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great resort
Everything was awesome! Great food, friendly staff, great service. Only issue was the seaweed on the beach. The pools were fantastic though and the bartenders were on point. The restaurants were all top notch.

Grand Sunset Princess: Wouldn’t visit here again
We simply just don’t think the resort reflects what it is rated and what you pay to visit. The grounds are beautiful but everything else could use a significant upgrade. The water park for kids is run down, although our son did enjoy his time there. There are additional costs all over the resort - we had to pay to access water park and to access the buffet (food was left sitting longer as there were less people visiting so instead of paying for better food it was worse than what was offered at[... read more] the main buffet). The rooms are also run down and our bed linens were not changed once during the time spend there. Our bathroom shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. The staff is not friendly at all and they expect you to have money in hand to give you any sort of relatively good service. Long lines for specialty items at buffets (e.g pasta/omelette bar) and not enough variety. A la cartes were difficult to book through app and the food was not good enough to reflect a five star hotel as someone who has travelled to mexico several times. Two of the a la cartes shared the same menu. Also we travelled with our son and while we got to the restaurant first two seperate parties were served drinks before us as we waited for over 25 minutes to be looked after, even after making eye contact with several employees and being ignored and overlooked. The beach is not nice. Riviera Maya is really struggling with seaweed rig hr now so if you travel for the beach do not go here or anywhere on this strip as it is truly suffering unfortunately. Limited night life available. Advertised disco and casino are not in operation. Overall not worth what we paid for this trip ..would have fathered spent a little more to get a lot more from other resorts we’ve previously been to!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Incredible resort/ stay
The resort was great from check in to check out. The service was second to none. The restaurants were all great and easy to get reservations. Pools and activities were all lots of fun. Grounds were well maintained with workers constantly working. I would definitely return to this resort. Only downfall was the beach, seaweed made it unusable - but that’s nature and completely out of control of the resort.

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Beautiful Resort... had a number of issues though....
The resort is gorgeous, the setting perfect....right on the beach, lovely pool, restaurants and great for kids.
These are the issues I had....
1. we could only find 1 English channel on TV....Fox news...that's it.... we called reception multiple times and they kept telling us which channels were in English...but they were not....then we were not able to get Netflix.... they ended up giving us a new TV.... but it was never programmed to use netflix...I was with my 80 year old mother and sh[... read more]e really wanted to watch TV, so it was a problem.
2. The food really was not great, did not seem 4 star to me and I'm not a fussy eater. The Italian restaurant in my opinion had the best food. The day I arrived I asked to be booked at each restaurant, turns out I was only booked at 3 out of the 6....then it was too late to get in.
3. They really need an English speaking person at reception at all times....it made communication very difficult.
4. Our toilet was blocked for 3 days and the room smelled really bad. I asked many times....
5. I was told that there was a doc on site, but I had to pay $120 for them to call a doctor for my mother, had the person at reception understood, they could have explained.
6. There is a list of activities, I downloaded the app...but it does not tell you where to go to par take in the activities.
7. The floors must be cleaned with bleach, I threw my dirty clothes on the floor in the corner of the room and one of my dresses is completely ruined as it is marked with bleach stains
The good things...
1. Great entertainment
2. Beautiful location
3. Very close to shops
4. Close walk to 4th Avenue

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Excellent Resort
stayed 7 days at Dreams Jade and had a wonderful time. Originally booked a tropical view but were able to upgrade to an oceanfront preferred suite upon check-in (additional cost) which we felt was well worth it as we had a beautiful ocean front room on 3rd level building #9 right on the beach. Able to sit out on balcony and watch the beach and watercraft activity. Preferred room also provided separate living room which gave us more privacy as my husband and i were travelling with our 19 year old[... read more] daughter who liked to sleep in. Preferred status also allowed us to have continental breakfast and lunch wraps etc in exclusive area which we appreciated rather than going to main buffet for breakfast and lunch.
Grounds were beautiful and well maintained, pools were pristine, food was very good and service excellent. Unfortunately large amounts of seaweed in water- so really couldn't swim in ocean or walk along beach comfortably. Staff were constantly cleaning seaweed from beach but hard for them to keep up as it kept rolling in. Staff very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Room very clean and comfortable. Poolside entertainment was great, nightly entertainment was just okay. Room service app didn't work for us and no one answered the room service phone so we weren't able to take advantage of that. Chose not to participate in the Vacation Club presentation as we did not want to be harassed. Weather beautiful, ventured off on free shopping excursion to Playa Del Carmen (great) and took $10 cab ride to Puerto Morelos which we enjoyed. Felt very safe at all times.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Fabulous resort!!
The service in this hotel was seamless from the moment we arrived till when we left, we were treated like VIP’s.
The Covid protocols were fairly strict-all hotel staff wore masks. Masks were required in the buffet restaurants except while eating. All the public areas were meticulously cleaned and sanitized. Our suite was spacious and all mechanics functioned perfectly. Housekeeping was meticulous in cleaning and sanitizing our room.
The food choices were excellent-buffet,seafood,steak and up[... read more]scale if you so desired. The food was tasty and well served and the wine choices were broad.
The beach and water was overgrown with seaweed due to climate changes but the hotel cleaned it everyday throughout the day making beach walking a good experience. The pools were excellent-spotless and you could always get a spot by the pool.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Great resort but could use a little updating.
I visited this resort back in 2011when it was a Now resort. It was in pristine condition and everything was great. Revisiting 11 years later, while the staff is still fantastic, there is some general repair that doesn't seem to have been done and so the pricing is a little high. While still a great resort with lots of dining options, attentive servers and bar staff, perhaps not to the same standard it used to be. Minor things, our safe had to be repaired 5 times, robes and slippers had to be[... read more] asked for, cleaning was done so late in the day we just declined it on our last day. Great things is that you could always get chairs and shade on the beach and we were able to get chairs and shade at the pool and adult pool no problem. We would drop a towel on chairs on to the way to breakfast and then go after, so bums in chairs by 930am. However if you slept in your only option was the beach.
I would probably not come during seaweed season again as I love to frolic in the ocean, and while you still could it just wasn't as nice. Also, I saw comments about huge line ups for dining and the longest we waited was for dinner one night for maybe 15 minutes, but we sat and had a drink. Otherwise a great trip, a lovely resort, maybe priced a little too high.
The hotel grounds was great. Rooms were all close to main pool, wave pool, lazy river and the water park. The rooms were outdated and wished there were more options. Food was great but wished they had more options for kids. The entertainment crew was good for both kids and adults. If you like your rooms to be cold, need to ask hotel to override the AC controls. Set at 22 degrees C.
Overall, great resort and lots to do but rooms needs to be updated.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great time at the Coba
We just returned from the Bahia Principe Gran Coba and had a wonderful.time. We had no complaints about this resort. The room was clean, the food was great and the staff were wonderful. The only complaints we could have about the resort are that it is very large with alot of walking, and the beach area was not the greatest, but both of these things we knew about before we went. As far as Covid 19 concerns, they are very diligent on sanitizing the roomss and common areas and also strict on wearin[... read more]g masks in the restaurants, lobby and shopping areas. Which made us feel very comfortable and safe. The only legitimate complaint that we have about the entire trip is the length of travel time. Having to fly with a connecting flight through Toronto from Halifax and the 2+ hour bus ride fom the airport to the resort, made for a 14 hour day. We really only had 6 days at the resort because we didn't get there until after 6pm and had to leave again on the last day before 10am. Overall, this was a great trip. Our agent Robyn was great and Tripcentral made everything easy for booking and any request we had. I would definitely book again with them

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Huge resort
The resort overall was nice. It’s very big, but easy to figure out once you are there. The rooms are clean, a bit dated as are most of the other buildings. I was disappointed that for a 7 day stay you can only book 3 a la cartes and there is no room service. The bus ride to the resort is very long as it stops at many other resorts and this one is the furthest- would recommend a private transfer. Also, there were no servers around the pools or beach area for drinks- had to get them yourself. Th[... read more]e beach area is very small with no food options, the area has a lot of rocks and coral- definitely need water shoes. The nighttime entertainment was really good with lots of variety. The staff are very nice, and helpful when they can be. There are shops located just a trolley ride away which was nice. There is also a doctor on-site which was great since I needed to visit after an unexpected incident happened. Overall the resort is nice, clean, good food, god drinks and very nice staff.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Very average resort
3 stars resort in reality. Beach is marina for small boats, surrounded by 6-7 breakwaters with few piers, water is shallow, full of algae and brown - that's why everybody is in the pool. Pool is too full and shallow as well. You need to go out before 6 am to get spot in the shade. They do not clean floors in the buildings for days and it is very gross to walk by human poop 5 meters from elevator which doesn't work anyways, same cigarette butts by the pool day after day. Just don't have time to c[... read more]ontinue, there are better places for amount you pay.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Beautiful Resort
This was my first trip to Mexico. I was amazed at the beautiful resort. Everything was spotless and the grounds were absolutely lovely.
The service was excellent. The staff all wore masks and I never once saw anyone adjusting or lifting their masks. I felt confident that the staff at the resort were going above and beyond to ensure the safety of the guests as well as themselves.
I highly recommend this resort and I hope to return there in the future.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Nice resort. but aggressive with joining on hotel club and seaweed on beach very smelly
Very nice resort. I understand pushing hotels clubs and times shares but pretending my brothers room was not ready in order for us to stay through a discussion on the hotel club was a big turn off. The not enough chairs around pool and beach was crazy unless you got up at 5:30 and saved chairs you were pretty much out of luck for the day.
Now the worst is the seaweed. So much seaweed I know its not the hotels fault but using the tractor to clean some of it during the day caused the worst smell [... read more]ever. The 10 foot pile beside the privilege area does not incline you to join the H10 hotel club

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Loved this resort!
The Grand Sirenis is a huge property that provides multiple areas for relaxation or fun! Lush vegetation provides a natural habitat for many animals which we loved! A beautiful natural cove at the beach provides shelter on rough days and snorkelling off the beach! Multiple restaurants and several concierge’s to assist with bookings or to answer questions.A whole variety of activities day and night! Many bar tenders and servers keep you well hydrated.
All staff wore masks indoors and outdoors[... read more] and hand sanitizer was available. It’s the other guests who don’t always respect the rules but they can’t control that.
If you love music and dancing hopefully they will have the silent DJ one night, it is an absolute blast!!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Amazing time at Bahia Tulum
We were very pleased to see how Covid conscious staff were at this resort. All staff wore face masks 100% of the time. There was hand santizer available everywhere. Tables in buffets were sanitized after each diner. Guests were not permitted in buffets or restaurants without masks.
When we left to go on excursions all transport and venues took temperature and again, staff were masked and guests had to be masked for entry.
Very Covid safe!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: I would advise skipping this one...
Overall, I would recommend skipping this resort and paying the extra $200 per person for something a little nicer in the area if you're planning to take the time off work/school and come all the way to Mexico anyways. More specifically, the beach is unusable with obstructed views, seaweed and constant red flags on the beach making it impossible to swim. The resort is far too big (even for my parter and I who are in our 20s and very active). Be prepared to walk, and walk, and walk. If you forget [... read more]sunscreen in your room, be prepared to derail your entire afternoon (likely an hour) just making the hike back to your room to retrieve it. It is just very impractical getting around the resort as the "shuttles" never come, are completely full or reserved for members only. The layout of the resort is very bizarre (the restaurants and rooms are SO far away from the beach and pool, and by far away I'm taking a solid 15-20 minute walk one-way). Personally, I would not recommend this resort for families with small children or anyone with any sort of mobility issues. There is nowhere that has any shade if you want relief from the sun which was a huge issue for us. A small area on the beach has little shaded cabanas, but of course these were for members only. The rest of us had to fight for loungers (not too upset about this one, we recognize that happens at many resorts) but there was absolutely no lounge area around the pool that was shaded. After a couple of days getting burnt to a crisp, we struggled to find any place to go on the resort to relax and have a break from the sun. The front desk is not helpful if you have ANYTHING that goes wrong in your room (or the resort in general). The rooms are very old and dated. You will be lucky to not find a stain on a pillow or on your sheets. From everyone we spoke to staying at the resort, everyone's room had some sort of issue (toilet paper roll kept coming out of the wall, shower spout wouldn't turn, phone in room wasn't working, mirror on the wall was cracked, patio door wouldn't open, room smelled like mold, etc.)
The food was very standard, nothing exceptional or unique to it. I've been to resorts that have little taco stands in the afternoon, ice cream bars, grilled food by the pools.. this resort had nothing like that. It was your standard buffet food. You need to book the a la cartes 2 days in advance and get to the lobby no later than 11am or all the reservations for the next day will be gone (forget about same day reservations). This requires a lot of pre-planning that you don't really want to have to think about when on vacation.
As a small aside not about the resort, it's starting to get very obvious that the pick-up times on the day you are leaving the resort are ridiculously early. They want to pick you up from your resort 5 hours before your flight to account for "travel time" and picking up other guests at neighbouring resorts to get you to the airport early enough for an international flight. While I do appreciate this, you end up sitting in the airport waiting for your flight home for 4 hours. As a result, every tourist is seen spending a ridiculous amount of money on the airport food (burgers and fries were $33 CAD with a bottle of water being $8 CAD). It seems strange that we all have to do this when we are coming from an all inclusive and could have been eating an included meal from our resort? Almost made us want to just arrange a private taxi/shuttle to get to the airport at a more reasonable time (2 hours before our flight). The money we would spend on a private shuttle we would save on all the airport food from being there so early.. could it be the resort, transportation service, and airport want you to check-out of your hotel crazy early in order to spend $$$$$ at the airport?!?
You do wonder why a 4/4.5 star resort is so much cheaper than the other 4/4.5 star resorts listed online.. it's because this is a 3.5 star resort at best, honestly. I would really advise skipping this one.
