Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Wonderful resort and staff
This resort for us was perfect. We have been to Cuba numerous times and this being the first time we did not want to come home yet. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, the food was exceptional for Cuba always a vast selection. The dining room for the buffet was set up so nice at every meal. The service in the dining room was exceptional always someone checking if you needed anything. The main bar was always served quickly and with a smile. Capichino coffee was available at all three bars w[... read more]hich was wonderful. Entertainment during the day was always fun and a good laugh and night entertainment at the main bar was fantastic. Oh my goodness I can’t say enough about this resort we definitely will be returning here for two weeks next time. ðŸ˜ðŸ‘

Melia Jardines del Rey: Awesome resort, staff and amenities
The resort had everything one needed for a vacation stay: three buffets, six a la cartes, three snack bars, and not one, but two pools with swim up bars. The Promenade featured the a la Cartes as well as two Churro stations and the Ice Cream bar and more. I might have missed some as well!
The large, clean, airy rooms were fully equipped. Who really irons while on vacation?? Not me, but I could have! We even had a king sized bed (a first for me in Cuba).
The staff were all friendly and [... read more]helpful - I must say our favourite was Miguel at the Sunrise Pool Bar - His quick, always friendly service and great sense of humour made poolside a great spot to be. The beach was to die for - pristine white sand, miles of sandy bottom and calm waters allowed for repeated refreshing dips in the ocean without crashing waves.
The food - everybody always talks about the food in Cuba - it was actually pretty good here, not just basic sustenance (17 trips under my belt). The a la cartes were better than the buffets of course, and the Sunset snack bar had pizza and fried chicken. The beach buffet seemed to be better than the big buffet, with fewer options but fewer people :-)
My favourite spots: The Beach first and foremost. Then the Sunrise pool bar (East side of the resort), the Sunset Snack Bar (West side) and the International Bistro a la Carte (on the Promenade). There is also a little bar just off the lobby where Roly does some amazing flair bartending (and makes a wicked "Miami Vice").
I overheard only one complaint while I was there, but if a bar is in the process of closing, I really don't think it's fair to complain that they didn't serve you.
Hidden unadvertised gem? The market outside. No need to take the bus, just walk out the lobby, turn right onto the road and you'll be at the Plaza de los Flamencos in two minutes where lots of vendors have souvenirs and gift items.
Tip: If you want to go to the other hotels that they mention, make sure you go to reception and get a day pass for the ONE hotel you want to visit, and go early. The bus does not really do circuits of the Cays, so check the schedule carefully.
We met some great people and had a great time, I'd love to go back here again and I'm not generally inclined to return to one place as I like to explore. You'll LOVE it!!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great Value! wonderful Beach!!!!
So let's start off this review by using the phrase "managing expectations".....my wife and I have never been to Cuba before so of course this was our first time. The Melia Jardines Del Ray is one of quite a few Melia's in Cuba. It is by far one of the Larger ones easily having a total customer population of 2000.....
It has a little over 1000 rooms and is quite a large Facility. Staff were very friendly and the overall condition of the Resort was pretty good. You can tell although that is doe[... read more]s need a bit of work here and there, but while we were there we could see maint staff working on various projects. Thus you can tell that they a re working to keep on top of things. Takes about 10 min to walk from main lobby to the /beach, and average time is about 8 min from 1 spot to another....they have many little white electric bus/ carts that can whisk you around...which was nice!!
Food - of course we have heard that food in Cuba is bad, but honestly, my wife and I really thought they did a good job. The ala Carts you didn't get that much (was more about presentation)...but decent...and the Main buffet was more than fine. Food was fairly neutral, but flavorful. Just find something you like and stick with it!...lots of Rice and bean dishes! lol
Our 2 excursions were pretty decent - did a snorkeling and a Cuban Rum sugar cane and Cigar tour - that was pretty cool...you really got to see how the Cubans live...which is really quite a eye opener....
Beaches there are Amazing!.turquoise water, white sand...like wow!!!...so we spent a lot of time there! lol....watch out for Sand flies they bite like crazy!!! so bring bug repellant...
All in all nice place - point to improve on would be service a bit...they are a large resort so at time you can see the staff trying hard...but overwhelmed!....next bathroom cleanliness.....nuff said...…..
but value for you $$ - it was a good vacation for sure!

The resort was spacious, clean and as mentioned, made for a very relaxing vacation. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Hotel Vigia: Sol cayo Guillermo soothsayer the Soul.
We were at this resort for the 6th time. We were helped by staff (Yani Danny) t o finally get settled in a room close to the dinning, room, pool, and lobby. I have difficulty walking and the 1st. assigned room was way too far.
We truly enjoyed our time at this little jewel of a hotel in Cayo Guillermo. Hopefully we will return again.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Not Bad
We stayed for 7 days recently and I would say that the beach is amazing! Food was quite good and the food service staff were very good always.
I think there might be issues at the front desk or maybe its just a one off situation but I found the customer service there poor on several occasions.
The grounds are well maintained and the lobby bar is a great place to grab a nice drink or coffee and hang out.
If you get booked into building 8 be warned its Not great and the house keeping i[... read more]s poor for some reason. We were booked into building 8 and our room was very rough with stains on the bedding, couch, walls and curtains. Expect lots....and lots of mosquitos also.
Luckily we were able to.change rooms and buildings within 24 hours and the room was clean and had way less even minimal mosquitos.
The entertainment staff were always on point and very professional.
Its a half decent resort for families and couples. The beach area had lots of seating avaliable however you still may want to get there earlier to get a seat if its busy.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great resort!
This resort is a great bang for your buck. The staff is so friendly as well the entertainment. The grounds are beautiful and the beach is amazing. The biggest beach I’ve seen in Cuba. The rooms themselves could be a bit updated but we spent so little time in there that it didn’t matter. The food was so-so. I don’t expect great food in Cuba so I’m not one to judge on it. The only thing I can say is that the buffet was better than the a la carts. I never left hungry. There is always a gril[... read more]l and pasta. I hated the fact that we had to book our a la carts the first day there and already at that time the only options were after 8:30. Crazy. The evening shows were pretty good and the lobby was really nice. There was always a singer at 8 till 9 and then the night shows started at 9:30 in the theatre. This was a smaller resort which we liked. So close to the pool or the beach whichever building you stayed in. As usual there were idiots that reserved the palapas and loungers by the pool by 6am. We never got a covered spot by the pool but there was tons of palapas and loungers on the beach. Will return to this resort.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Sadly Disappointed Again
We were hoping that things had changed from our last visit. My husband and myself don't ask for a lot. We would like a toilet that flushes, a shower that works and air conditioning that works also. Not much else. Very simple....the things that we thought we had paid for. The plumber fixed our toilet twice, yet the only way to flush it was to take water from the bidet to fill the tank in order to flush it. This went on the whole week...we were told it was being taken care of. For half the week, o[... read more]ur shower was scolding hot, no cold water. The second half of the week it was freezing cold, no hot water. The final night we actually had warm water. Our air conditioning made noise, blew air and that was about it. We will not be going back . Beyond disappointed with the treatment of some of the staff there.

Hotel Camino del Mar: We made the best of it but will def not return or recommend.
Resort lacked much. Everything was abit less than what we are used to. Rooms are tired although very clean. Many days i had no hot water to shower. They are renovating the rooms but they are an upgrade. Food was not much to be desired. By day 4 it was difficult to find something i wanted to eat. There were no eggs one morning...whats that ??..not boiled, fried or omelettes. One omelette bar going when there was eggs. (very slow)
Entertainment most nights was in the lobby. Not much fo[... read more]r entertainment which you do miss when you go just the 2 of you. This needs improvement.
Not much going on at the resort. If you are going to just relax the beach is just beautiful but very little going on at the resort in daytime games at the pool and exercises at the pool area. We are accustomed to much more activity around the pool. Resort was simply boring. There is a swim up bar which is not operational.
Gym does not have a treadmill or elliptical. Maybe they should borrow one from the Melia CaycoCoco...they had several.
Lastly what resort does not offer a courtesy room to shower before you leave the resort at 5:30 pm and you had to check out by 12 hand in your towels or give a deposit of $20.00 each.
Met up with many people who where at the Muth MGM and paid the same money....disapointing !!!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great resort
We stayed at this resort for 7 nights. it was really an awesome time. The resort staff are very friendly and polite, the food was great considering that we are in Cuba where they do not have everything available to them as we do. Clean grounds and only 2 bugs bites all week. That was a great relief. I would go back no problem.
It's really more of a family resort so if your looking for partying this is not the place for you.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Spectacular Resort
This was our first time visiting the Tryp. It was only about a 15 minute shuttle bus ride from the airport. Upon our arrival the staff were quick to check us in and accommodating so we could have our room close to our friends that came in the day before. The room was neat and very clean. The showers had great water pressure and no issue with flushing the toilet. Our housekeeping was very friendly and had a smile on her face every day. Our room's location was perfect. A short distance walk[... read more] to the snack bar and ocean. There were enough lounge chairs and never had to worry about not getting one. Every morning the beach was dragged for debris. The buffet always had something you could eat. Homemade omelets every morning was my fav. We will certainly visit the Tryp again next year and tell more of our friends to go.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Beautiful Hotel and friendly staff.
We spent March break at this hotel. The photos you see on internet doesn't do the hotel justice. It is very nice and the grounds are beautiful. Initially, we were a little sceptic, but we discovered a beautiful place. It is located a beautiful beach that is kind of hidden and is a small walk away. Pilar beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world is only minutes away by bus. Truly beautiful and not that busy...yet, but there are a lot of new construction in the area. The food was good[... read more], but it is Cuba. The shows with professional dancers were excellent. The only negatives we would have about the resort are some line ups at the buffet, beds in the room are small (48" beds). There is nothing to visit in the area, but that was ok with us. We took the catamaran excursion, stopped twice for snorkelling and one at Pilar beach and once at Media Luna Island for lunch. We ate chicken and langoustines. It was a beautiful and peaceful place to enjoy our delicious barbecued lunch. Poor staff however who have to travel at least an hour an half every morning and night to get to and back from work to Moron or Ciego de Avila while they keep their smile. I would not recommend the International à la carte restaurant however. The Indian and Italian restaurant were excellent. Great vacation all around.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Amazing Resort!
The resort is brand new, from the infinity pool with ocean view to the food and the staff, we where 100% satisfied. We highly recommend the Gran Muthu Imperial ! The drinks are high quality and the best cappuccino is the best.
Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: First time at the resort and won't be the last!
Rooms were clean and comfortable, great view of the grounds and the ocean. Unlike some of the other resorts, this resort really does have a Cuban feel to it, with the architecture and the colours. Enjoyed the buffets and the two a la carte that we tried, always fresh and flavourfull. Staff far exceeded my expectations of Cuban hospitality, and the shows at the poolside and evening shows were entertaining and fun. Bingo was a bit repetitive though!! lol
We will return.....hopefully with t[... read more]he whole family next time!! Will recommend the resort to anyone who will listen!
