Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Exotic yet very familiar

We have been going to Playa Cayo Santa Maria 4 or 5 times now. What brings us back is the beauty of the grounds, the beach, the friendly staff. They smile at you, say hello, wave, but never harrass you for anything, in our experience. The rooms are comfortable, clean, quiet, most of the time. Some employees don't speak English, but they listen hard and try to figure it out. They will, in time. The Cubans have strong personalities, they are resilient and very hard working. We love the healthy foo [... read more]d, the desserts, the coffee and of course the drinks. They have excellent entertainers, singers and musicians to help you learn about their culture. The buffet staff is efficient and eager to serve. If you decide to go to the PCSM, say hello to the best waitress, Eliany, and the kindest person in the Italian a la carte restaurant, Yareli. We will go there again, soon!

Melia Las Dunas: Fantastic time!

Loved: live music every night (rock, salsa, etc), nightly shows, beach, tennis courts, calamari, freshly grilled meats and fish, service, drinks, look of buildings and rooms. Meh: a la carte restaurants. Hated: nothing.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Not great! not bad

beautiful resort to look at! gorgeous scenery....lots of walking, or go carting....typical Cuba food, beach snack bar was always broken, no chicken ever!...Kids had tons of fun at the kids disco, but could have used more day activities for them...all in all good bang for the buck, had fun

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Great place to relax.

Beaches were very closed from resort. Food choices were good. Rooms were great. Service was really nice. Needs to do something for small white flies as they bites like crazy. I was there jan 23rd for wk. Needs improvements on daily activities n live performances. Service were really nice. Wifi needs improvement as well.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing place

Rooms were really nice n roomy. Food variety was good. Lots of choices. Peoples were great n very helpful. Wifi was not so good. Needs improvments for their daily activities n better live performance.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Eventually will be Perfect!

The resort and its grounds are clean and beautiful. Most of the areas are ok for those with mobility issues, but if wanting to sit up in Mike's cafe or go to the Oriental or Italian a la carte restaurants it is a bit challenging if the elevator is not working (which was the case during our stay). We were also placed in the bungalow furthest from the lobby, theatre and buffet which made it more difficult for my mom. The cart drivers began to know her well and looked after transporting her. Th [... read more]ere were some language barrier issues with front desk reception staff and they did not seem the most friendliest. However we did encounter some of the best staff ever in the buffet, at the bars and especially with the animation team. Highest praise is given to Big Daniels and Ower on the Animation Team, Gali, Yunier and Edel at the Family Pool Bar as well as the entire staff at Mike's Cafe. There was always a good variety of food selection in the Buffet and listening to the beautiful music of Alejandro & Luis was most enjoyable...amazing talent! I think in a couple years after getting through a few tweaks, Ocean Casa Del Mar will be perfect! I have been to Cayo Santa Maria 11 times and do hope to return to this resort. "Siempre Contigo"

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Amazing resort

Very clean, great service, nice people, good quality/ price. Great shows. Great animation team. Quick check in and check out. Good food. Weather was ok but can't control it. Recommend to purchase excursions catamaran in flight cheaper credit card only.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Amazing

The staff are wonderful. They were staff always smiling. The resort is well kept. The pools were beautiful. They were lots of food stations. One of the best was on at the beach bar. Amazing bbq chicken. It was a smaller resort.But Perfect for me. I would recommend this resort.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Great beach, good food and awesome people!

White sandy beach and turquoise waters...check! Hospitable staff...check! Great tasting food and diverse menu...check! Nice and comfortable rooms...check! This is a great resort for both couples and families alike! Beautiful location and well designed resort. Fabulous nightly entertainment. Great selection of drinks! One of the best Caribbean experiences I’ve ever had!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: wonderful resort

best beach. wonderful staff. rooms. rooms clean, buildings generally free of insects, but come on, this is atropicalresort so you can expect the occassional "creepy crawly" here and there. Pools and swim up bars are clean. Lobby with Italian marble floors is beautiful. Seafood ala carte is very good, you must try it. Large resort ca require a lot of walking but golf carts are frequently available.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Wonderful vacation!

As Cayo Santa Maria was always on my list of spots I wanted to visit, when the Starfish came up at a very affordable price I booked for myself and my husband and we were not disappointed. The beaches - most beautiful I've ever encountered - the hotel, the food, the staff and even the other vacationers were a delight. Do keep in mind though, that if you are looking for a vacation of sightseeing, this or any of the Cayo islands are not for you. Cayo Santa Maria is for those who want a sun, sand, b [... read more]each, relaxing getaway. Wonderful for families too with plenty to do for the young ones that you may have. We did rent a taxi for a day and our driver took us to Santa Clara on the mainland for a day of "real" Cuba. If you do have a chance, by all means go on a one day trip into the city. Rich in beauty, culture and history.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Great resort!!!

My wife and I, our youngest daughter and her boyfriend were at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria Jan 18 - 25, 2018. The resort was very beautiful and much has been done to recover from the hurricane. The grounds are immaculate, you would never know that there was any damage only a few months ago. Our room was on the ground floor. The only evidence of flooding was that the bottom 4-5 inches of our bathroom door was water damaged, but otherwise, it was great. The shower and tub could use an update,  [... read more]but it was very clean. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We only did one a la carte restaurant (Japanese) which I always enjoy. We found that the buffet had limited variety of food options from day to day. The snack bar had very good food and the pizzas delicious. Some sections of the beach have mounds of sand as a result of the hurricane. They were not crowded and always lots of options for shade or sun or both depending on your preference. Overall, a very nice resort!

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Excellent Resort Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria Cuba

Stayed the week off Jan 19-26. The hotel is new , the ground are extremely well kept beach pool lobby bars and especially washrooms though out the resort.Rooms were modern clean and rooms made up early n the day. All staff in restaurants and lobby bars and housekeeping were very pleasant . Sprayed outside 2x a day for insects. I was very skeptical in regards to food and i was truly surprised at the variety on the buffet and snack bars . Food was great . French Alcarte very good . My overall view of this resort is 41/2*** unfortunately it its quite a drive from airport, and very little to do off resort.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Good Resort

Beach fantastic. Food okay. Rooms good. Location a bit far from the airport. Great service, people very friendly always smile and happy. Overall a great hotel for the value. Building #1 the best location near to everything, main lobby, beach.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: great resort

the hotel was in excellent condition and was repaired from the resent storm in September . The room was good ,(typical Cuba beds) I would stay there again

Valentin Perla Blanca: If it weren’t for the uncomfortable beds...

Overall vacation was great and the staff was amazing. Did the Jeep Safari and had a great time, would recommend wearing running shoes and brining own toilet paper. And now for the details of the disappointments - arrived at 12:30 and waited an hour and a half in line at reception and the room was not ready; was told to come back in 3 hours (after 5pm) for the room. The overall cleanliness was good; however, beds were very uncomfortable, it was comparable to sleeping on a college dorm mattress [... read more]; very hard, no softness. Pillows were also not comfy, very thin, no softness/fluff. Room was on ground floor (not recommended) lots of ants (had to spray bug spray every night). Patio door did not lock or have a tight seal; pretty sure that’s how all mosquitos came in. The building itself echoed and one could hear everything in the room. The pizza bar always had a line (but was not open every day). There was usually a line which took about an hour of waiting just to order the pizza, and then another 60 minutes wait to get the actual pizza. Not all the a la carts are open each day. The same venue is shared for multiple restaurants and the each have their designated days they are open. I do not recommend the “upgrade” VIP at the airport on the way back. The gimmick was “no lines” which had us sold, but there were lines. Had special VIP line to check baggage, which was moving just as fast as regular line, but still had an overflow of people as everyone with the upgrade was in the line. Special line to go through the customs before the security, again, long line as everyone with the upgrade was in the same line. When we finally got to the lounge, there was no spot to sit as it was overcrowded. They say you are issued a bracelet to come and go at ease, but received no bracelet. Only bonus is the unlimited drinks and hot sandwiches, but for the price of the upgrade (and hassle of lines) one could purchase these commodities at the general airport waiting area. If it weren’t for the beds being very uncomfortable and hard to sleep on, I would recommend the resort, and do a return trip myself.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Amazing experience and excellent service!

This resort may be listed as 3 1/2 - 4 stars but you feel like you're at a 5+ star resort. Very friendly staff. Very clean facility and rooms. Not overly crowded. Always beach chairs and chair/lounges available at the pool even. Absolutely beautiful ocean and beach. You are treated like royalty when visiting the Starfish Cayo Santa Maria. We can't wait to go back and will recommend this resort to everyone. The excursions available were also amazing. The variety of food at the buffets and the a l [... read more]a cartes were plenty. Could always find something good to eat. And the drinks were fantastic too!

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Great resort

Wonderful staff, great rooms, beautiful hot showers, comfy bed, great food. Snack bar had delicious food. Buffet was typical but good. Waiter staff by pools and beach. Great lobby entertainment! Guitarist and cello player will blow your mind!

Melia Las Dunas: Great Family Vacation

We travelled to Melia Las Dunas with our three children, from January 18-25. We were very happy with our hotel accommodations. We ended up with two, connecting, spacious rooms. The location of the bungalow was great as well, right in front of the pool. The staff at Melia Las Dunas treated our three children with respect, and made every effort to make them feel included. Though we felt there wasn't a huge variety of food at the buffet, everyone was able to find something they enjoy [... read more]ed. The kids (age 9, 11 and 14) participated in the kids club a few times, which kept them entertained for a few hours. However, the majority of the children in the group were much younger. I'm not sure if there are other programs for older children? They were doing some work on the beach, I'm assuming was due to the hurricane damage. Therefore, any shelter huts on the beach were unavailable as the huts were near where they were doing the work and they had that part of the beach blocked off.
