Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Could be better.

Grounds are well kept, good selection of food. Service was terrible at the buffet, sometimes no service at all. Pools were under renovation, bulldozers at the beach, and elevators were not working. Not worth upgrading to relaxed as you really don’t get much extra. Not many activities going on, bartenders weren’t happy when you order non alcoholic drinks. No slushy drinks.

Sol Palmeras: Sol Palmaris Resort in Cuba

This is a great resort. The people are very friendly. The food is excellent and the resort very clean. The pool area is very spacious for large and small swimmers. The beach is fabulous. It is clean and very long and great for walking and enjoying the ocean. The water activities are great for adults as well as the children. The entertainment is excellent both inside the resort as well at the pool area and on the beach. The resort staff is very interactive with the guests. Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Definitely a disappointment

While the beach was great, and most of the staff were lovely the current environment of shortages greatly impacted our two week stay. There were no eggs for the first 10 days and white wine only at the limited reservation restaurant a few visits. No bacon but so much hot dog weiners in everything. Food choices were very limited and it became very monotonous—almost dreaded going to the buffet. Toasters did not work well. Butter tasted like lard so bring your own. Bring peanut butter, jam, ho [... read more]t sauce, salt and pepper. Hamburgers were pretty good at pool and the big beach food shack. Chicken sandwiches at pool bar were never the same—sometimes great and other times awful. Same with the pizzas. Bar at big beach made fabulous mojitos. Bring your own water bottles or large plastic glasses for the bars to make drinks in. They have tiny glasses so you will spend all your time getting drinks. The service was very hit and miss. Some staff were very friendly while others seemed to avoid eye contact so a lot of time waiting to be served drinks. But when the good staff were there it was great. Drinks were hit and miss and varied each time you order. A great margarita once then later on it was just water, tequila and ice despite the server indicating they had lime. So many wasted drinks. There was no real real entertainment or if they did anything it was very late and geared only to the younger crowd. They had karaoke a couple of times but almost 10:00 before it got started. No big song/dance/comedy shows. Everyday seemed like the last with nothing to look forward to. Sheets only changed once in the two weeks we were there despite asking several times. Changed only on the last night. Beach towels were not immediately available and then we could not get them changed during the whole two weeks. We were always told they had none. So spent time with a very wet towel. There was mold on the walls in the bathroom and an intermittent sewer smell. We had a lot of issues with wifi and our room keys had to be fixed several times. One of our group had a door that would not stay locked. The Sunwing representative was pretty useless. His English was very poor and despite trying to book an excursion and him promising to let us know when we could book—he took our room numbers—we never were able to book it. He kept telling us it was cancelled and then after checking repeatedly over the two weeks he said it was all booked up so we could not go. We wanted to get snorkeling equipment to use from the beach but despite telling us that equipment was available we were never able to find it. So no snorkeling. Bring your own equipment if you want it. Bus to the market which is supposed to come at regular intervals did not show up at all one day and we waited forever the next time we tried to go. We were told we had to pay $5 American per person for the bus and that he would not take $5 Canadian but we saw others paying Canadian. Not that big of a deal but annoying all the same. The market is tiny and doesn’t offer very much. A few trinkets but don’t expect much. We will not go back. We went because our friends had been there the previous year but they were shocked at how it had gone downhill. I know some shortages were expected but the service and experience did not meet expectations either. Also paid for a Superior Ocean View and most of our view was the pool bar building. Did not feel luxurious and not worth the extra cost.

Club Tropical: Nice hotel

The staff are so great!! The hotel and resort are great.I love to be downtown Veradrro . The city is amazing...lots of restaurants and markets. The people of Veradrro are very friendly. What a great experience!

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Honeymoon Vacation

Was very pleased on the entire trip. The grounds were absolutely stunning, the staff was friendly and the room was very clean. What attention to detail! The food and drinks were great, will be back for sure!

Sol Palmeras: I would recommend this Resort

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this resort was. The lobby area is very nice with plenty of comfortable seating. The evening entertainment was nice in the lounge. The outdoor theatre and water ballet was very nice. The food in the buffet was plentiful. The 4 ala cartes were very good. The bar beverages were good and also plentiful. No food or drink or amenity shortages. The rooms were very nice and clean. The staff was pleasant and friendly. Beautiful large beach area. Lots of palapas. Ea [... read more]sy to get to town. Close to the golf course. The Wifi access throughout the resort is not very strong. I would return.

Memories Paraiso: Ok

The hotel is in the very beautiful beach ?? the resort has a beautiful landscape is very good for walking around and for exercise, the food is ok but lunch and dinner buffet has seafood almost every day.but the hotel can’t not mention the basic need no toilet paper in the public bathroom no soap in the public bathrooms no coffee almost every day no beer

Melia Las Antillas: Amazing trip from start to finish

The resort was perfect the staff were friendly and very helpful. We had the best time. The service was amazing! Very impressed with Kenia who walked the resort many times during the day. She always chatted and asked us about our day. Very attentive staff wherever we went. The entertainment staff was amazing and had lots of fun activities and great music and shows. We would definitely return ?

Starfish Cayo Largo: Amazing

Unfortunately Sunwing cancelled our vacation to Cayo Largo. We were looking forward to returning to this resort. Instead Sunwing diverted the bookings to Cayo Coca and/or Cayo Cruz. We are very disappointed with the customer relations with Sunwing. Next time we will book with a carrier that keeps their customers interest in mind. Rating is from previous stay at this resort.

Hotel Bella Costa: Great resort!

The staff were all amazing and friendly. We had a large variety of food everyday with no shortages of any kind. The pool and beach was beautiful and clean. They even helped plan a beautiful private dinner for my mom’s birthday. Live shows every night and really just a great ambiance all around. The only thing to note is the rooms are dated but still kept clean. I would absolutely go back and recommend to anyone looking to go to Cuba!

Selectum Family Resort Varadero: Amazing!

I had a wonderful time at the Selectum Family Resort. The staff were awesome. Friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this resort. There was plenty of options at the buffet and the rooms were very clean. The one thing that does need improving is the househousekeeping staff seem to show up at the time you are coming back to your room to get ready for dinner. I understand this is probably due to staff shortages and they don't get to the rooms on the higher floors until later i [... read more]n the day. That being said when asked to come back later they willingly accommodated . Can't wait to come back

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Will come again soon !

Royalton has the nicest beaches, incredibly friendly staff, rooms are wonderful, good value for your dollar. First time in Cuba and will definitely come again soon. This is undoubtedly the best accommodation in the area.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Wonderful resort

We have been to Cuba many times, but this time we vacationed at Iberostar Selection Ensenachos in Cayo Santa Maria and from the first day we felt at home. Excellent management and honest, dedicated employees make our stay at this resort pleasant and stress-free. Clean rooms, great swimming pools, huge selection of food, rich greenery, beautiful beach, peace and relaxation. Thank you to everyone at Iberostar Selection Ensenachos for a wonderful 14 days of vacation.

Hotel Playa Coco: Very dated resort

Worst vacation I’ve ever been on, everything was lacking, from toilet paper to towels, no soft drinks at all dirty and the smell of humidity was everywhere, mosquitoes were ravaging everyone, cigar lounge was closed most of my stay, when open they didn’t have any good cigares. I don’t know how Sunwing sends people to this resort.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Amazing beach

Dining did not have variety and had poor selection of food. Some was leftover and was not even reheated to serve because it was cold. Service was super slow for coffee and drinks because they were served at table and staff would forget to come by and ask. No coffee for 2 days. Beach was 5 star and room was reasonably good and clean.

Melia Varadero: Lovely resort!

I love that the Melia is situated on a wide expense land right next to the beach. Lots of room to move about, lots of room to sit outside and enjoy the weather and a nightcap! It’s great, having an option to book unlimited visits to one of the three inside restaurants. I especially enjoyed going to the international restaurant and seeing Roberto and Betsy on all three occasions (they are wonderful & their crepes rocked)! All the staff were wonderful (our first housekeeper, and our last housekeeper went above and beyond). The only I can say about the resort is that our room was on the cool side and at night it was too cold (although once under the extra blanket, they provided all was well).

Gran Muthu Imperial: Relaxing Resort

Grand Muthu Imperial Now that we have returned from our recent holiday at the Grand Muthu Imperial from the 31 Jan – 7 Feb 2024, I want to express our gratitude for the hospitality and professionalism of all the staff at this amazing resort. Vila Gale Cayo Paredon: Vila Gayle

Hotel was above average for this area.The grounds kept well and great beach and pool areas .Drinks in the lobby and coffee bar great as well. Food in the buffet pretty good as well as the pizza bar.( Note: no condiments around anywhere including butter so bring your own if desired). Water in rooms limited to 3/day and toilet paper scarce. Also there is no place to get money out from this hotel so bring lots of small denominations(American/ CDN) for tipping. Beach bar had crystal beer but ran out [... read more] a few times so may want to bring a Bubba cup or go to lobby bar.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Small, quiet Reaort

Small , quieter resort. Great clean beach, staff nice. Cleanliness not ideal, bathroom in hotel and public smelled of urine always. Did have a cockroach in room and seen outside. Lots of mosquito and bites. Often no toilet paper, or asked for tip to use. Grounds nice, buildings dated. Food good and plenty considering Cuba.

Valentin Cayo Cruz: Great Resort

We had a lovely relaxing time at the Valentin. The rooms were clean and lovely, no issues. There was a mini fridge restocked with water daily. Had new towels every day. Would recommend bringing face cloths and toilet paper, while we didn't run out, came close. Lobby bar and other public washrooms ran out once or twice. We would just go back to the room. We were in building one, was great and central to the pool and lobby areas and not far from the beach. The grounds were also ver [... read more]y clean and well taken care of. Beach was beautiful - when the tide is high, it's great for lounging, not so much for walking. Pools are lovely too. We had no issues finding chairs at either the pool or the beach. Wouldn't hurt to get up early if you wanted a particular spot. There was always beach towels to exchange. Would recommend bringing some larger bills to change for locals - either US or CDN - $5,$10,$20 - it was our understanding they cannot exchange the smaller bills or coins at the bank. We were asked daily about exchanging $$. The staff were all lovely and working very hard. The food was to be expected and as we read in prior reviews, there are shortages and should be expected. There were eggs only one day, not a lot of fruit. The cheese sandwiches at the snack bar were delicious. We never went hungry and the A la carts were quite nice. You need to book those in the mornings. There was lots to drinks, the juice is from packages. There were a couple excursion options, a city tour and catamaran tour. We didn't do either, but heard they were nice. This resort is quite remote, would be driving an hour or two to do anything. Overall, we had a great deal and the goal was to lounge and relax and it was exactly that.
