Secrets Huatulco: We had some concerns about this lovely place

Secrets at Huatulco is a spectacular hotel with a beautiful beach and surrounding scenery. Every room has an ocean view. The staff are all attentive and friendly, and mostly took good care with covid safety protocols. No complaints there. The meals were mostly good and we sampled most of the different restaurants offered. They took particular care to cater to one of us who has a serious food allergy. La [... read more]rge gatherings of people were allowed to take place in an area of the hotel where EVERYBODY had to pass in order to reach their rooms or the eating areas. There was no choice but to run the gauntlet amongst large numbers of maskless revellers, and if those events did not result in the transmission of the virus we would be most surprised. Until management wakes up to this risk, or this health emergency subsides, we would not recommend anyone who is concerned about their health to go to this hotel. Pity, because it was otherwise a very pleasant experience.

Secrets Huatulco: Beautiful resort

Secrets was fantastic. We had a swim up room which was well used as average temperatures were in the 30’s. Food and service exceptional. Spa to die for with a great view of the ocean. Well worth the money spent.

Secrets Cap Cana: Good and Bad

The good part of the resort was the service, exceptional and very attentive staff in their area of employment. The rooms are very nice and a good size. The resort was very clean ! The dinning was the good and bad of our experience , the appetizer's at all the restaurants were excellent but the main courses fell very short. We were among 4 people that got food poisoning at the Japanese restaurant. Which made our last day almost unbearable.

Secrets Huatulco: Great Resort

Wonderful location, staff and weather. No complaints whatsoever. Would recommend this resort. Very clean with Covid-19 protocols. Good selection of restaurants and amenities. Local area is good for shopping and very safe.

Secrets Huatulco: Could be great.

The hotel is now 10 years old, and needs attention to details if it wants to be viewed as 4.5 star. The rooms and furniture are dated, and the restaurants need a complete revamp, including menus and ambiance. Covid has put a damper on investment I’m sure, but now is the time to upgrade. Secrets St James: Great Beach

The hotel was very nice. Food was good as well, lots of choices and well prepared. Was slightly understaffed for room service and housekeeping services - in my opinion. Also has a vacation club they really ant you to take in the presentation and they offer you a meal... really it's a meal already included in your "All Inclusive" and I personally don't like that push. I would still return for the weather, atmosphere and the relaxation.

Secrets Royal Beach: Great Resort

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was great at all restaurants and the buffet. You can choose between more lively main pools and more relaxed pool areas. COVID testing available at the resort for approx. CAD$100 per person. All staff are double-vaccinated and wear masks at all times. Overall, the resort is a very good value. We re-booked as soon as we returned home.

Secrets St. Martin: I hope I get this right

You have a lot of options for your travel money so I hope not to sway you one way or another but to let you know what to expect. Secret's is a little more expensive than other options (at least when we went, November 2021), however you soon realize if you travel around the island that transportation is pretty expensive and Secret's is about as far from the airport as possible. We were brought a glass of champagne which was nice. Processing is fairly easy and painless and from there you are off to your room. Rooms are generous in size, bathrooms are large, more than enough closet space, great TV, king sized bed (very good mattress), couch and a standard sized balcony. For us, the room was more than just ok. None of the rooms have ocean view, the main buildings face each other but there is lots of space between them so it's not like anyone is staring into your room. Some first floor rooms have a walk out to a shared pool with your neighbours. We did not see many people using the pools though and I heard through one person that the temperature was too cold so not being used. This is not first hand knowledge, so judge the info accordingly but I will confirm that we did not see many in the water. The general pool is great, the pool bar is great, the booze at the bars is great, food at the pool is great, the beach is outstanding, the service at both the beach (Loranne) and the pool (Rolinda, German) outstanding. The pool and beach are quiet, there is music at the pool but not blaring. Just what we wanted. The food is good. You won't be wowed but you shouldn't be disappointed either, I wonder if once more people start returning they may open up another restaurant but I don't know. The Hibatchi restaurant was very good and the main dining hall was above average compared to other all inclusive. I would recommend taking a $ 20 taxi to Grand Case and there they have a couple of outstanding French restaurants that you will never regret spending the money on. 7-9 page wine list, just to give you an idea. Also there is an incredibly good restaurant down the beach that I would highly recommend but it closes at 5pm, so more for lunch or late afternoon. Very worthwhile to go to, if you like unique French cooking. Orient Beach is a $ 20 cab ride away and has more hotels and beach bars on it, if you wanted to have something with more action. Covid was extremely easy, there is a doctor's office on site. Book your swab as soon as you arrive or the next day and results came back within 24 hours of taking the test. Secrets Papagayo Resort: Amazing Honeymoon

My husband and I spent a week here on our honeymoon. They decorated our room and made sure we were very comfortable and happy. The rooms were secluded and private which was nice. Lots of different types of food and loved the fact we could sit anywhere on the resort and servers would be there to offer drinks or food. We felt like royalty. We had the most amazing drivers who always picked us to drive us anywhere with a smile and always so friendly to chat with. Mike and Elij are who you want!!!

Secrets Papagayo Resort: Decent resort

- The beach was open to public and the vendors are relentless on trying to sell something using sob stories. - clean resort, good food - same menu everyday - water activity equipment not cleaned i.e. kayak, paddles, life jackets, etc. - no nightly activities or entertainment (fairly boring stay) - promotion staff pushing to sell timeshare with incentive - housekeeping only changes towels everyday, linen remains the same - you can see some wildlife on resort, pretty cool - take bug spray  [... read more] - gift shop is overpriced, make purchases at the airport instead - if it weren't covid, we would have done excursions, and I think that would have made the trip more fun - probably had about 100 people overall at the resort, so finding a table or a spot was easy, pools or whirlpools weren't crowded - teppanyaki was only thing you needed reservations, and you needed to call bright & early in the morning, it's a bit overrated but sure why not check it out - temps taken regularly before entering restaurants - hand sanitizers readily available - nice to walk around the resort, good exercise and worth the view

Secrets Cap Cana: Great time!

The hotel had exceptional service, rooms and food. I think I gained 10lbs at least ! The beach was beautiful although more umbrella's are needed. This seems to be an issue with every resort and this one was no exception however there were plenty of pool lounges and chairs for everyone. Our room was also amazing. I loved the two shower head shower. It was wonderful to use at the end of the day.

The hotel was very nice. Rooms were clean and spacious. Grounds were beautiful. The pool area with the lazy river was awesome! Food in buffet was good. A la carte restaurants for the most part food was fine. The blue water restaurant at the larimer hotel next door had a great sirloin burger.

Secrets Cap Cana: Amazing resort

This resort was fantastic, grounds are beautiful, staff are extremely friendly And hard working. I loved the size of this resort not too big. We stayed in building 6 which was perfect, close to everything. We had a fantastic holiday from the moment we arrived until it was time to go home

This place is amazing. The bathrooms were always clean as well as all the areas. The staff were very friendly and always asking what they can do for you. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The food was amazing and lots to chose from. We definitely will be returning.

Secrets Cap Cana: Heaven on Earth

Amazing hotel, close to airport, beautiful private beach, lots of activities but not the party atmosphere....extremely relaxing and you are treated like royalty. The food is incredible and the staff go out of their way to make you feel special!! No need to go anywhere else!!

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort: Nice place

Nice hotel, great staff, good food. Quiet and private. Very well kept property, resort is on the small side. Pool decks get a little crowded during the day. The beach is beautiful but to rough to swim in

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Wonderful resort!

This resort has beautiful pools (3), lovely tropical grounds, impeccable service by all staff, and amazing food in ALL restaurants! The beach is also well laid out with lots of palapas, and great snorkelling. It takes a day or so to find everything on this resort though because it’s so sprawling and pathways are roundabout. Not a biggy once you figure it out. And, yes, usually at all 3 pools were large corporate events, every night. Felt a bit like being at a business hotel versus a leisure hotel. Otherwise, we loved it!

Secrets Huatulco: Paradise

This resort is very picturesque and all the rooms face the water, all the restaurants provided great food and service, the pool area was well maintained. The only hiccup is the towel situation, they run out.

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Small user friendly resort

Had a nice relaxing time at this resort. It is laid out very well and very easy to get anywhere is a short time. We met lots if nice people to chat with. Dining was very good. We really made use of the coffee shop and snacks! We have been to many adults only resorts in the Mayan and have to say this is our top so far!

Secrets Cap Cana: Beautiful resort - excellent service!

This resort was fantastic. Best service I’ve ever had. From the personal concierge, to the towel helpers, and wait staff. Everyone had a smiling face. The food was pretty good too - especially the breakfast buffet and the French restaurant. I wish there was more variety of entertainment in the evening. The biggest pain point was really not being able to make reservations for dinner. Every night we waited over an hour to be seated.
