Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Good Family resort

Overall a good resort rooms were a bit small beach was very nice but there were a lot of vendor's walking around tying to sell you anything you would buy food was okay but for the price the value was good. I would say 3.5 stars.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Great time!

We had a great stay at the Viva Wyndham Tangerine in Puerto Plata. The staff were kind and the animation staff were very entertaining. The hostess in the buffet Jessica was awesome ! She always made our kids feel so welcome. Hugging and giving them high fives everyday! The couple things I could complain about is that they wouldn’t give us bottles of water. 2 small bottles a day for a room with 4 people in it. The beach area was amazing only you are extremely hounded by the local sellers. The water was very wavy .. the only thing u can do in it is jump the very high and strong waves .. too dangerous for kids to swim in. But beautiful to watch. Watching the kiteboarders going by we’re so fun to watch every afternoon. We had a great week with family and would go back again in a heartbeat.

Loved the resort well kept and beautifully located with the large pool area providing a grand view of the ocean providing a great daily ocean breeze keeping us all comfortable. This boutique resort was very walkable and easy to navigate. Morning music around the pool a little too loud for most of us. Wearher could not have been finer Nov 22-29. Resort staff were kind and helpful. Catering quite satisfactory, wine very unsatisfactory. Unacceptable,and other alcohol undrinkable. Beer cool a [... read more]nd refreshing for beer lovers. Shows started late at 10pm we made it to some Shows, And the staff were very talented! The disco commenced even later, wasnever awake to explore my love for dancing.The long beach and pool sold me on this resort.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Incredible value for money

I learned of Heavens from my tripcentral agent who had been there. It exceeded even my strict expectations. Upgraded to a suite, spotless grounds, excellent food especially in the themed a la carte restaurants, no lineups for anything, very cheerful staff, plenty of beach chairs, very smooth transfers and checkin, etc. The beach can be walked for miles, much of it undeveloped especially to the east - very pleasant. Minimal seaweed problem, and workers clean up what there is of it each morning. [... read more] I knew this would be good when I read the TripAdviser and Booking.com reviews - virtually nothing negative. I have nothing negative to say either. It was on a par with the Viva Wyndham Azteca in Mexico - perhaps better in view of the quieter beach and the fact that Heavens is adults only. And it was half the price even as a single. Good level of clientele - Canadians, Europeans and S. Americans. I'm going back in January and though it will be a busier time, the cost was only $300 more than in November.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great Small but Fun Adults Only Resort

Love this resort. Small compact resort on a great beach. Visited with my mom who has mobility issues. Everything is so close. She had no issues getting around between pool, restaurants and room. Entertainment crew are fabulous! Our second time here and will definitely be back!!

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great resort

We had a great time at Viva Heavens in Puerta Plata. The grounds were so clean and pretty. The food was Yummy. Loved the Blend restaurant. The entertainment team are truly what makes this resort a gem. We hope to return next year.

I had a lovely vacation at this Resort the food was excellent the buffet was beautiful and have plenty of food plenty of selection so that nobody could complain really about the food they were very pleasant the people were very nice they helped you whenever they could they gave you brought you whatever you wanted to just were excellent. The beach was a little bit of a walk so anyone with disabilities might have a little bit of trouble getting there unless they're in a wheelchair in any event they have it's a nice walk way that they can go to the beach on and once they get to the beach they have a special chair for people with disabilities to go in the water. All right I really had an enjoyable time they had to change my room once because the what was it the compressor died. Oh I woke up at 3 a.m. sweating because it had died in the middle of the night I went to the lobby and told him it's really hot in my room so immediately they sent the central meeting in person and asked me if I'd like to move into a room with better air conditioning right away they help me move my stuff and off to sleep I went and it was absolutely cool from there on in. The air conditioning in the second room was great it was nice and cool all the time. The only real complaint I have is the fact that Sunwing didn't take us directly to Puerto Plata we had to go to Punta Cana and then stop over there it took us from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Toronto time until 7:30 p.m. Puerto Plata time to get there it took a long time we were like 9 hours. They took us off the plane in Punta Cana and then they loaded us back on it was just ridiculous it was a very long exhausting and tedious day so we lost that day. And coming home we had to leave the hotel at 11 so we lost that day so technically we had a 6-day vacation.

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Absolutely Incredible!

First off, let me just say that the staff who work at this resort are absolutely incredible. We stayed for seven days and felt like we were at home (but better) we are looking at going again next year!

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Could be better...

Hotel • Decent walk to & from the beach(make sure you bring anything you need for beach) • There's a hot tub on the upper level EVEN THAT is closed by 8pm • Great primary pool, but is severely underutilized. It's an adult only resort with a shallow pool(4.4ft) with beautiful color changing pool lights that can only be appreciated at night. Why aren't the "adults" allowed to swim after 8pm. It's a vacation/resort the min time should be 1am (really available whenever an guest wants to go  [... read more]in) that includes the jacuzzi. • Terrible wifi. It's included in the package but you have to be doing artistic poses to get a strong stable connection (rooms & throughout the resort grounds) & when you get one it drops. Food • Mexican restaurant: great options. • Italian restaurant: can be better (over cooked) • Dominican restaurant: need more variety in food choices. • Beach bar/buffet isn't too bad, but variety in food choices there would be another bonus. Fruits in all locations (beach & buffet) were not recipe enough. Rooms • AC system comes & goes, this caused major condensation in the room, a small pool in fact. • Hot water comes & goes. • Not enough towels for the bathroom. • No maid service door sign was available (had to call each morning). • No toothpaste, face towels, not enough bathing toiletries. • Room door broke(electronic key) , if it wasn't by luck one of us left early & tried coming back into the room, we would've been locked out. • After all this, we didn't get a room change (even though there were available rooms, they just kept sending a repairman). Staff • Staff is touch & go, some positive/some negative, majority negative. • The coordinators/staff need to speak much better English as majority of hotel guests tend to be from English speaking countries. It's going to be difficult to communicate with staff when they don't understand what your saying. Activities • Night life, extremely disappointed (it was a down season). They made no adjustments to make it a more inviting atmosphere. Although very good music selections for "disco night". • Activities (scheduled) need to be updated, still using music & ideas from 10+ years ago. • Definitely should try going to local bar/clubs. It's gonna give you a better night fun no"seniors" although can have fair amount of mid 20s to mid 30s inhabitants. Beach (public) • Beautiful sand, (very fine), but gentle. • Alright setup for the beach chair to water distance. (if you leave your stuff on your seats, you won't be able to see it from the waters edge). So be careful leaving things unattended. • During the busy season since it's a public beach, locals can pass through & with your stuff laying around, definitely can go missing. • Definitely under utilized, they could make more of it with events & activities (day or night).

The resort is very beautiful... The staff are even more than beautiful and entertaining no matter what they do. I've heard from a lot of people that they weren't impressed with the food.... seems always has the same taste ...missing some flavour. For me I could not make a phone call from my room unless I went to the lobby... inconvenience? Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Very clean resort with nice beach

Spent 8 days beginning of August 2019, resort half full, half the restaurants opened daily only, only one type of beer at the bar and it was flat. Our room was nice with a view of the pool but very loud music at night. The beach was wonderful...Recommend the hotel during high season.

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: Great w. A Few Flaws

This hotel was very relaxing - family environment (great for young kids) - not too many young adults (not a party resort) - entertainment staff aren't too engaged with guests (different than anywhere I've been before) - no fun games by the pool or no music really playing during the day - food was great, lots of options, found something to eat every day (and I'm very picky) - restaurants has no AC gets pretty hot during lunch especially - rooms were amazing, very big, very very clean -  [... read more]beach was a huge disappointment (sand was nice and chairs were comfy but sooo much seaweed. Food was good, room was very clean, and hotel staff was very helpful. Had a great time at the beach, it is a small resort but didn't mind since restaurants,pool, and beach were all close to our room!

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: viva Winham

Beautiful beach, clean water,small, modern and quiet, everything we were looking for. Food and drink very good, no need for a la carte reservations, although main restaurant has always interesting choices available.Money well spent.

Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham: Amazing resort.

This place has breathtaking beautiful gardens. It was a pleasure to take walks in the early mornings and evenings. The food was very good offering guests a vast variety of food selections. However, we were not happy with the Oriental Restaurant. We found that the resort was huge and at times very tiring for us to get from one area to another. It would be great if they would consider offering cart service for seniors. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and went out of their way to [... read more] assistance us with our concerns. Only, we had to wait 4 hours before check-in as we arrived at 11 a.m. and they have check in set at 3 p.m. It was an uncomfortable hot wait for us.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Pleasantly surprised

Absolutely stunning. Grounds well kept. Felt like a 5 star. True meaning of all inclusive, cabanas, sun huts were all included. The view from the lobby was breathtaking. Friendly helpful staff. Pleasantly surprised by the seafood restaurant

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Sub standard service

Staff was terrible, no smiles, never helpful, unfortunately my 9 yr old grandson got sick and the front desk staff was terrible, no compassion, no help, we wanted to call ambulance and they wouldn't let us, can't call out from hotel at all, worst service ever!! there is a dr on site who helped us but big language barrier, could hardly spoke speak English, nurse couldn't speak English at all. Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Small clean relaxing

This is an all adult resort mixed with time share condos on the grounds around. viva wyndham v havens is a nice resort to visit and relax but beaches are about 5 to 7 min.walk to the beach thru a walkway , once there the beach is nice and lots of lounge chairs but little shade available you have an snak restaurant and a bad also close by.The only problem is the local peddlers selling cheap DR souvenirs. They had 5 restaurants total one buffet and 4 other alacarts which were not open all the times.Buffet was ok I wouldn't say it was excellent you could find something to eat all the time. There breakfasts were probably the best the only complaint about food is they over cook everything dry.? The other restaurant that was ok was Italian on the beach , seafood, Mexican and medeterian were not that good.. They had lot of activities for you to do if you were up them great entertainment staff that tried to get everyone involved that wanted to participate. The resort is rated 4+ which is not I would say more like 3+ at best. If the price is right I would recommend this resort other then that they are tons of resorts around that offer more for same value at this time of year. We had a small room in the resort which didn't even have a chair to sit down on ,asked for an upgrade told it wasent available I know resort wasent even 50% capacity so not sure about the management.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great bang for buck!

Paid less than $1800 for 2 adults.Nice pool, good food friendly people. What else do you really need? No shade on beach and quite a few vendors was really the only negative. Would have played a round of golf if not for mandatory caddie.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Amazing relaxing resort!!!!!

This was a great resort! Intimate and easy to get around. Short walk to the beach and a wonderful beach and snack bar. Perfect place to relax. They have zumba , yoga and other activities. Loved it!!!!!
