Nice resort for the money.

If you like smaller resorts this one is quite nice. Try stay off ground floor for rooms. Evening Entertainment isn't great at the resort and we didn't go into PV at night to say one way or another. If it's your first time in Cuba I recommend the jeep safari tour and go to Havana. I would go back to spend more time in Havana and for the beaches. Don't go on the beach at night though, lots of sand flies.

Great Time

Went with a group of friends and had a great time. Honest review: Its Cuba... The resort is not a true 4 star, but the beach is one of the best in the world and the weather at the beginning of March was amazing. The rooms were a little worn, but clean and the maids were great; lots of hot water. The staff were excellent, drinks weren't the best quality, but again, it's Cuba. I can't say enough about the entertainment staff, probably the best I've ever seen...They had activities for both young and old...there was always something going on; great band as well, had a lot of fun. The food is good, somewhat bland, but they had salt and pepper on the tables and there was a huge selection, if you couldn't find something to eat that you liked, the problem was you. The disco on the resort was fun and provided another place to party other than the lobby bar, which was always alive with people having a good time. No one was rude, great for families, young and old.

Short and sweet

PRO: Stayed for 3 nights with my kids and mother. Small resort close to pool and beach. Which is an asset for children and the elderly. Clean rooms. Older resort. The landscaping pool and surrounding areas approaching the beach are well maintained. Very impressed. Did not visit any restaurants. The buffet was sufficient for the 3 days we were there. One room was really cold. The other room the a/c didnt work at all. The pool performance is extremely loud and a huge disturbance for any families staying on any of the rooms closest to the pool. If u have a resort accommodating children, Thats not the best idea as it abruptly woke up my entire family with the extreme loud music. And probably alot of other families too. All in all it was a good stay. I would come back. And probably wouldnt mind the show if I didnt have my kids with me. Thanks!

Staff and food make up for maintenance issues

the buildings are in need of repair, dark hallways, stairways, crumbling plaster walls. the resort staff are friendly and resort is small . food is good, but best eats at beach bbq. if you are looking for luxury this is not the hotel for you, looking for good value vacation, its a good deal.

Had its moments

When we first checked in at 1030pm we were given our key hauled our luggage to room 1309 where we find our room card was not loaded had to return to get it right. The room smelled like the humidity and our air conditioning worked but barely. Our fridge did not work at all. We found the people in the buffet were wonderful however the front desk were very rude and did not care if we were helped or not. We had a bar tender in the pool bar completely ignore us. Wanting

We had an excellant flight both ways, on time and friendly service. Upon arrival we were not shown where our rooms were nor were we given a chit for beach towels. Some staff were very pleasant while others did not seem to care, we were just a job to them. The grounds of the resort were well kept but the public washrooms were a disgrace, either out of service, smelly, or both. The food was passable with a good selection. The nightly entertainment did not start until 10 p.m. which is late for us,  [... read more]a start time of 9 p.m. would seem more appropriate. Upon returning home we agreed we would not return to this resort.

Nice resort,

The resort was clean, the staff were great. Be sure to bring extra towels as they were always short of beach towels and room towels. The fruit was out of season and was not very good. Miles of beach to walk. Overall very nice place to stay.

Fun resort

The grounds were nice. The pool area was attractive with lots of lounge chairs. Beautiful flowers and plants to look at. The ala carte restaurants were delicious and attractive. The beach was clean and close to our room. The pool women's washroom was unavailable due to repairs . It wasn't a problem for me . I used the lobby washroom or my room washroom. The food alcohol and coffe was very good. The service and entertainment was excellent.

Good resort, poor transportation

The hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was very pleasant and happy to help you. A few things they can improve on: 1 provide a resort map when you register, 2 have a variety of foods (change things from time to time), common bathrooms need toilet seats. Air Transat was a horrible experience. First flight had a mechanical issue and they had to split our flights. We were told the 2nd flight would get meal vouchers but had to wait for them to board the first back up plane. By the time this hap [... read more]pened, we had less than 30 minutes to go get something to eat. Once we started boarding they had to figure out where people would be seated. Air Transat knew about this issue at 1pm. We started boarding at 7:30pm. You would think that in 6 and a half hours they would have the seating situation figured out. Flying home we waited in line for almost 3 hours just to check in. They had issues all day with the system and took extra time to check in a previous flight. Then they had to stop checking people in so the employees could go to the gate for boarding.

everything was fantastic!!! very clean resort, amazing people the food was excellent, the beach was fabulous, the entertainment was fantastic, looked forward to it every evening. The room was clean. Would go back to this resort

Wrost costumers service

No water in the mini freeze compare to other hotels that i been, no towel service, hotel way overrated, food is ok , this hotel is an old ppl resort if you under 35 this place not for you , beach is dirty they don't clean it full of fallen leafs hard to walk

Nice Resort!

The beach is awesome, the rooms are good, always had hot water. Grounds are nice and well kept. The staff were great! The evening entertainment was really good. Could always find something to eat. I had the beef at the International restaurant, it was really good. I would say that the resort was a 3.5 star, the price was good and I got what I paid for, if you expect a 5 star go to a 5 star. I have no complaints about this resort and would return. One thing that I have gotten into the habit of do [... read more]ing is bringing a fuzzy sheet from home to put next to me in the bed as I find crawling into the resort sheets seem to be damp feeling. I bring one that I don't mind leaving behind.

Never again

The food was terrible and rooms not nice with terrible beds and rolls of cotton for pillows. Which smelt horrible. Was sick 4/10 days from food. Beach was beautiful as was the ocean. Weather was good too. Glasses always had ashes in them that's gross.

Over all pretty good

This resort is listed as a 4 star, i think it's technically a 3 star based on it being an older out dated resort, however the service is excellent and the staff are very prompt. Never waited long for anything. The beach is beautiful and the food was good. The magic show was excellent and the dance shows are fantastic. The temperatures were cold and rainy during our 7 day visit ranging from 16-23 and there was not much to do during the day to pass the time, A games room would be beneficial. This  [... read more]resort is located approximately a 15 min drive from the city centre. Had the weather cooperated we would've had an even greater time.

Good Value , Nice clean small Resort

This resort is a clean good value Resort ,,. yes it is dated and needs a little tlc but I can over look a paint peel here and there .., our room was clean and had a fantastic view , the beach was great, the people are great, the food was ok

Great time

From all the negative reviews I seen before going I thought it would be awful but it was fantastic. The food was superb. The rooms adequate and any problems where dealt with swiftly. Staff was very nice. The resort itself was beautiful. Beach was great. Excursions where amazing.

Good resort but you get what you pay for

The resort overall was great - rooms were clean, entertainment team was excellent, the shows they put on were all very good. Food wise, there was always something for everyone however it was very inconsistent (the same dish 2 days in a row tasted completely different). Beach was beautiful as is expected in Cuba, but there were way too many men and women on the beach trying to sell stuff and yelling all day long which kind of ruined the peacefulness. Hotel was close enough to the town to take a 1 [... read more]0 peso cab ride for up to 5 people which was great and also very close to several night clubs for those looking to party at night. Only major complaints about the resort were 1) we were only given ONE water bottle for the entire week and when we asked for another one, we were told to ask again in the morning which we did and then were told by the same lady that we had to buy it in the shop and 2) dirty towels weren't always taken away but rather the housekeeper would fold them and put them back in the shower on several occasions. It was ok for us because we brought our own towels but for other guests it was a major pain and quite disgusting. Other than this, I would definitely stay here again for an inexpensive getaway (under $700) just keep in mind that you get what you pay for!

Worst Resort and Service Ever!

Terrible, stay away, dirty room, broken mattresses, rude and lazy staff (95% of them as a few were very nice), terrible food, power was out for 7 hours, room was flooded on second night, would not go back if trip was free.

Horrible Resort Even by Cuban Standards!

I have been to many resorts in many countries, and to Cuba 3 times. This resort was the worst. Pros: - Food was okay.. But I still got sick.. So maybe not so good.. - An okay deal if you pay less than $500/week.. and don't mind coming home disappointed.. I paid $1100.. My friend paid $474 but had problems as well. Cons: - Staff were generally unhappy - Staff several times unhelpful on simple requests.. A glass of water, money exchange, a clean towel.. - Rooms electrical system faulty.. Fried m [... read more]y adapter - Several services stopped due to problems: credit card machines, internet, cash exchange.. - Their SINGLE computer with internet was unreliable and super slow.. - NO WIFI NO ATMs - Main buffet restaurant not ventilated and very hot to sit in.. Horrible!

Not going back

Food was OK. Always had something to eat. Fourth resort we stayed at in varadero. Lots of bugs got very bit up. Never had this happen but maybe the time we went. The other resort we stayed at last year we found much better. Bathroom in main lobby always had toilets closed off.
