Stench on the Beach

Grand Bahia Principe Tulum has gone down in quality since we first went there about six years ago. There were no chips or cookies in the fridges. No towel animals in the room. No longer able to use the facilities at Akumal. The beach stunk because of the seaweed that was not cleaned up. No one used the beaches for a couple of days because of the stench. The Oasis restaurant was terrible .... very little and poor quality food. One of our beds was missing a sheet until I happened to catch a maid a [... read more]nd ask for the sheet. The next day she short sheeted us again. Unlikely to go back again.

Everything at the hotel was great

Everything at the hotel was great. The staff was so helpful and there was always a lot of choice for food and it was at its best. The grounds where clean and so was our room. Pool area was wonderful and the beach was great

Hard workers all around!!

This resort was beautiful. I knew that there would be racoons everywhere because I had seen others write about them and posting pictures on other reviews before I went. Staff was very friendly and worked very hard. My biggest issue was that front desk called me early morning and woke me up two days in a row to remind me to go get the travel voucher from Air Canada. I knew this had to be done but I could do it any day of my stay. The third day I went to the Air Canada desk to get this over with s [... read more]o they would stop calling and waking me up and the next day they called AGAIN!!! I like my sleep and now I had been woken up my first four days of my trip. I had to go see them again to tell them that my time to depart was already booked and I didn't know why they were still calling me. They were apologetic and said it was a mistake but that was still the worst part of my trip. I go on vacation to NOT set an alarm and sleep in. I only want to be called if I ask for a wake up call. Besides that, I have no complaints about the food or drinks. The pools were nice. The disco theque was out dated with their music and played the same music every night. I was sad to hear from an employee that they only got a hamburger a day to eat and could not have more options from the buffets so had to bring their own lunches to work. This gave me the impression that the Bahia Principe chain was cheep and didnt take care of their employees very well.

We would go back again

large resort, clean and the grounds were very well maintained with wildlife viewed everyday, good food and cool lower level buffet for kids, nice beach, great staff, even the lounge singer was enjoyable. Drinks strong. Room needed a dehumidifier but great view.

Fabulous Resort

Grounds are well kept; Public areas Very Sanitary; Rooms very clean; Dining very appetizing; Night Shows AWESOME very entertaining. Also our rooms were in an area which was very quite, so that you could rest and relax.

Great week at GBP Tulum!

We really like the resort (I have stayed at Coba so was familiar with the complex). It's not perfect - we found that our private buffet (in the Club Diamond upgrade area) ran out of certain food and plates occasionally, and the service was a bit slow, but really it didn't bother us too much. Main buffet was better staffed. The entire resort staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a beautiful room, 3rd floor overlooking the ocean, and when we arrived there was a bottle of sparkling wine and rose petals on the bed (I had emailed the resort to ask for a nice room and their response was a generic "we have recorded your preferences", so it was a nice surprise.). The grounds are lovely and well maintained. The two a la cartes were great, and you can go over to Coba to eat at their restaurants, which we did. There are lots of activities and evening entertainment, can't comment too much as we didn't participate. All in all it was a great week and we're pretty laid back so the little issues didn't matter. I have found that the GBP hotels seem to be the best bang for your buck at that price level.

Great Resort!

The food was unreal. There was always so much food to choose from. The 24 hour snack bar was also very handy. The staff were incredibly friendly. We had a great time hanging out at all pools as well as at the beach.

Great resort

Beautifully maintained resort. Clean and relaxing surroundings. We experienced special caring treatment travelling with 2 young children. The buffet choices had variety and food was delicious. We enjoyed the a la carte as well in particular the Don Pablo and the Brazilian restaurant. It was very convenient to Swim with the Dolphins right at the resort. My granddaughter loved the dolphin experience.

Amazingly beautiful surroundings and friendly, fun atmosphere! Partnered with comfortable rooms and delicious amounts of spirits and yummy eats to fill the tummy , this is the place to be!! Don't worry Bahia Happy ;)

Amazing customer service

Very nice resort although it was a little big for my taste. What I loved most was the service and the beach. The people were absolutely amazing, attended to your every need. Beautiful ocean front as well.

Exceptional resort. Very clean and well maintained

Staff very friendly. Good variety of food. Cleanliness over the whole resort was exceptional. Entertainment shows was varied and all where excellent. We wish all entertainment shows were held in the theatre not the main bar which has limited seating and poor visibility.

Amazing Resort

Hotel was great, I would go back any time. Junior Suite Room is very generous, we had two queen size beds. Very nice view from our balcony we could see the ocean and the garden, lots of tropical flowers.

First time at a resort

my husband and 2 sons aged 13 and 18 came with us to the grand bahia principe tulum, we had a great time ,the rooms were beautiful, the resort was very clean, staff were attentive and friendly, fun evening entertainment,loved the outdoor feel, enjoyed the tennis,bike rides, bring your own snorkeling equipment as on red flag days you cannot use theirs , also bring your own soccer ball,frisbee ,board games, we rented a car,$85 for one day ,if we had agreed the morning of taking the car to 2 days , [... read more]we would have only been charged an extra $18 we thought that we would wait until the end of the day to decide and then they said it was too late, so i recommend take the 2 day option, we drove to coba and climbed the pyramid ,great views and then went to a cenote nearby ,that is an underwater cave where we swam and jumped off 5 and 10 meter platforms ,awesome! superbowl night the resort put on a fantastic party, so they do really try to make your week outstanding!

Very Nice Resort & Enjoyable Stay

Overall the Resort was very well kept, rooms were clean, beds & pillows good. The staff was very friendly and work hard to keep all areas clean. The food at buffet was very good and had lots of variety. We did four al la carts and found that the "La Gran Tortuga" (Brasileno) one was extremely good, while the others only average. The bar staff was really great and not to long to get a drink, also liked the tequila sample bar. Beaches are nice, although a little rocky in some areas. Awesome resort

Clean, well maintained. Excellent, friendly service. Delicious, with lots of choices from buffet. Disappointed in the a la cartes except La Gran Tortuga which was very delicious. Will definitely return and would recommend this resort to family.

Super Clean Fantastic Staff

Overall the resort, staff and food were fantastic. The entire trip went well from the flights, transportation, check in and check out. It was well organized and no confusion. Everyone knew we were coming and were very attentive. The only negative is the beach and water. The reef has been destroyed, the water is rough and the sewage smells make swimming unappealing. This leaves the pool scene for getting your water fix. They do have plenty of pools with lots of activities. The drinking is control [... read more]led by diluting the booze so you won't see many drunk individuals. That might be a good thing. We felt safe while on the resort. There are many excursions but the costs are high which increases the cost of the vacation. The area has lots of history and the actual town of Tulum is a very good place to spend a day shopping and eating. I am glad we saw the ruins but disappointed in the beach and the booze.

Wow Awesome Resort!

Grounds were immaculate. Service outstanding! Beach a bit of seaweed but cleaned up daily...... Amazing ....Lots to do! Excellent Value.... Very friendly servers, front desk reception , bar tenders, housekeepers...... Just Loved It!

Fantastic!

Our family was truly impressed with this resort. Our children, 10 and 8 could say enough about how great it was. Our room was in a beautiful quiet setting, the food was excellent and the service - superb!!! We were treated like royalty at the al a cart restaurants where the food quality and taste was over the top. The beach was beautiful and the snorkeling was amazing, right off the beach. We would definitely go back to the Bahia Principe Tulum resort again.

Truley an awsome resort! Everything was excellent , definatly going back with other couples (that we recommend this resort. )next year. Staff was super nice and resort was very clean, food was exceptional, beach was nice and the rooms were fine, although the bathrm could be bigger, not a big deal! Going back love it!!

A Good Experience

Overall we thought the hotel was excellent. The staff were very friendly and were eager to please. It was our first visit to Mexico and we came away with a positive impression. The resort seemed very organized. There was some sidewalk construction near our room and it was a bit noisy during the day, however it was not that bad. If you went to the buffet every day it would be a bit monotinous, however we used the à la carte restaurants and found them to be very good. The Mexican restaurant and t [... read more]he Le Gourmet were excellent. We took the diamond club option which gave us closer access to the beach and a quieter area. The rooms were a bit damp and there was no natural ventilation unless you left the sliding patio door open.
