Beautiful resort

The resort itself was beautiful. Great views. A tonne of stairs... The food was not the greatest but you could survive. The worst part was how they constantly tried to upsell you a membership. We did the one tour of puerto plata with the cable car and loved it.

Where do I start!! I would give this resort a 5/10. First off the service wasn't very good. Maybe because I only speak simple Spanish. There was a huge language barrier with front desk bartenders and housekeepers. None of the staff spoke much English which made pretty much all interactions difficult. The grounds and pools were clean although many of toilets would not flush and after eating at the buffet this is a very important feature. That being said the food was not very good. The buffet [... read more] had a very limited selection of pretty much the same thing every day. There were barely any fresh fruit or desserts which are my favorites. We were a group of 7, 6 adults and 1 child we all had the "trots" about 20 min after every meal! The a la carts were ok. Blue lagoon was actually delicious as was the Brazilian. The rest not so good. This being said I love any food I don't have to cook. My Asian meal I couldn't even finish I'm not a picky eater by far neither are my family but we all agreed the food was sub par. My ocean view room I paid about 800 dollars more for than our friends who had a ground floor suite was nothing but a view of a red roof from the restaurant in front of our building. Our room was beautiful though. Our teenaged sons stayed in a standard room. They were supposed to have 2 beds but ended up with a king to share. We also wanted them to be close to us but were on the opposite end of the huge resort! We tried to have these issues resolved but the language barrier prevented that!! Oh yeah and if you like hot water don't get the standard room. They had hot water 3 of 8 days! I thought the beach was clean until I lifted a rock and found a used condom. Mmmmmmm. Night life is great IF you are under 25. There really isn't a bar to hang out at till the wee hours for the 30+ crowd. This resort seems to cater mostly to the VIP and timeshare members. Oh yes and the do not disturb sign on your door means nothing!! My other half woke up from a nap to clean towels in the bathroom. Another time we left the room with the sign on the handle came back and our bed was made and room tidied. NOT OK.

Amazing Resort

Very clean and organized The room is cleaned every day and there is a note when you would like te change the sheets ( very clever ) Entertaining was all day long a lots of games for all ages and the prizes Many pools for kids and adults Food was perfect lots of variety

Beautiful, but likely won't go back :(

The reasons being : We were led to believe we could pay to be upgraded for the week to VIP and got the run around, to ultimately not get it. We were not told that our excursions were cancelled , on two separate occasions when they said to us they would run rain or shine. During the rainy days, there were no activities planned to fill our time. They seemed to not beprepared for rain days. In fact a guest staying there used his own equipment to do some karaoke in one of the stations. So the [... read more]re was something to do. The beach and the view was beautiful and the staff was very pleasant and upbeat, which was very nice.

The resort and staff itself was pretty decent, but the beach was kind of disappointing, small and very rocky. People are very pushy for you to do other things that arent included from the resort. I was also annoyed that the fact that you have to take a shuttle bus to the a la cart dinners, (we were not told about it, so we were a half hour late). The only unclean thing about the resort is the septic that was near the beach REAKED of poop. The website was also not clear about the vip beaches, or beds. I would rate 2.7/5

Somewhat disappointing

Our room as pretty nice except it smelled like sewage. The drinks were the worst I've ever had: way too sweet , not really frozen. After being there for a couple of days, it was very apparent that unless you had a time share there and had a VIP bracelet on, you could only use about one third of the resort. There were a lot of bars, pizzeria,restaurants, ice cream parlour , crepe place, sushi place and beach areas that we were not allowed to go. And premium drinks too. Fantastic

The resort was amazing. Lots of great food, drinks and activities. We loved every minute of it. We ended up buying into the membership at Lifestyles. Worth every penny. We are already booking our next vacation for May of 2017.

OK

Resort grounds were nice. Lots of stairs. Suites were nice and spacious. No night enertainment for adults or kids. Staff was very nice and courteous. Beach was small, but the resort made up for it with the manmaid VIP beach. Over all ok but will not go back.

TERRIBLE BEACH

The resort it self was amazing, however we have spoken to our agent prior to going to this resort and stated our priority which is the BEACH. Unfortunately during our stay at this beautiful resort we were not able to go into this "Caribbean Sea" at all. TERRIBLE! We were very upset at the fact that we spent over forty minutes on the phone with an agent to ask about the beach and ended up not being able to use it at all. Our last trip was booked via redtag and will continue with that from now on.

Great times in the Dominican Republic

Overall the resort was very nice! There are alot of stairs for those with health issues.Pools are very nice and beach was ok but not Cuba!! The food was very good but there is a lack of choice in the buffet.The a la carte restaurants are very good!! My room was in building 42 and absolutely beautiful..one of the nicest I've seen. The rooms were clean but they don't stock the fridge after first day. We had nice weather and the entertainment staff was great especially Blondie from China!! Cofresi palm

The customer service was awful our rooms flooded twice once from a pipe burst another from rain they did little to accommodate us. as for the beaches and restaurants if your not a VIP member you only get one small beach and limited a la carts to choose from.

Amazing Resort

First impression stuck on my heart. It is a beautiful resort and amazing people as well. My wife and I had the best time ever. We did not want to leave. We are going back next year. The resort is very clean with very friendly staff and everything at your finger tip. The food was great the pool was clean. we just had a wonderful time. No bad thing to say at all. GREAT PLACE FOR A VACATION.

Awesome Vacation

This resort had a lot to offer with 5 pools and 3 bars, as well as a very entertaining "Entertainment Group" and friendly staff. Not for the weak at heart - there are LOTS of stairs! The beach area isn't the greatest, but they make up for it with their own beach area - large sand area with lots of loungers and a few cabanas available. It was advertised that food was available 24 hours a day, but I believe it was just for the VIPs because once the restaurant closed at 10:30, no snacks or coffe [... read more]e/tea was available until 7 a.m. the next morning. The nightly entertainment was enjoyable, except for at The Dome - way too many people crowded into a small area. We were fortunate to find a seat, as many people had to stand off to the side, but our seats were way off to the side and the stage was barely visible, while there was a huge area sectioned off at the front, I'm guessing for VIPs, that remained half empty. Our room was spacious and clean, but the air conditioning in our room was not the greatest.

Nice place

Resort was nice , workers and staff where pleasant. Did not like the pushy time share people.... Could of been a little more organized with the places and show times. The excursion where not the closest to the resort. The transat person "Freddy " was good

Better than expected

The resort was beautiful well maintained and clean. Our jr suite oceanview room was great. We saw no bugs the whole time we were there. The buffet restaurant was good as buffets go. The al la carte restaurants we went to Mexican, Indian and the Brazil were excellent. The only down side was the sales pressure to buy time share but we dealt with that.

Wonderful resort

Great staff! So friendly! Food was good but could have more vegetarian friendly. The stairs are a great workout. Junior suite was perfect and so clean. Lots of waves on the beach . Activities were fun. We would go again!

Awesome place to be

Food was really good, staff was super nice. Resort was beautiful and kept super clean! All around amazing experience :) pools were very beautiful and clean. Beach was nice, a little rocky but warm. :)

Loved my stay!

Beautiful place! Loved the staff, my room, the beaches just everything! I loved that there was so many pools and the resort didn't feel crowded cause there were so many places to hang out. Loved to have been able to take a beautiful bike ride around the resort.

Good place for vacation

We had a really good time. The resort is really big though , we were thankfully in a convenient location. Room was nice , bathroom and balcony were a great size. Beach was a little disappointing as you can't walk far and there's quite a few areas reserved for VIP. There's also no chairs on the beach but we just brought ours down there. Food gets repetitive for breakfast especially, quality was ok but nothing impressive. There's just one area that has an open sewer pipe that smells really bad.. so pray that your room is not near that ! Honestly , we had a great time , the weather was perfect , lots of friendly people and great price.
