Wonderful Time

Had a great time although the weather wasn't very cooperative. Had plenty of rain. Food was very good in the buffet but not exceptional in the restaurants. Staff were all wonderful! Only complaint was towels weren't delivered to our rooms until late afternoon daily making showering before dinner difficult

Amazing Resort

This resort was one of the best places I have ever been to. The food was decent and the people there are just so friendly and helpful. I wasn't to crazy about the beach by the resort but about half hour hour in Sesoua we went to the beach there and the water was clear and the sand was so fine. It was beautiful. I would recommend visiting Be Live Collection Marien in Porto Plueta.

Realistic review

This was the third time we went to Be Live in Puerto Plata, DR. We love the Local food, the people especially the local feel to the resort. We are always looking for a true Carribbean flavour and a true get away from the North American way of life. This resort is on the beach, It's close to the local market and city centre as well as Maimon for a fish Meal. Approximately 20 minutes taxi ride. On the other hand,  [... read more]if you pay to stay in a standard room, we had problems with the condition of the rooms. They definitely need some serious upgrading. We changed from Bldg 4 to bldg 2 due to problems, moldy smell and plumbing problems in all 3 rooms. There were 6 of us. and even after being switched, the air conditioning did not work in 1 room all week, and the other it worked only on very very cold temperature. When lowered the condensation is so much the room looked like it rained. Wet floors, walls etc. plumbing was still a problem. I don't think the rooms are cleaned well unless we leave a tip of at least $2 u.s /day x 3 rooms for a week can be a bit Much. Basic cleaning should Be done well without a tip. Then tip on top of.... We didn't even bother to complain anymore. We were tired.....for these accommodation problems, my family and I decided that this probably was our last visit to Be Live. Sad because we like everything else but we want to sleep comfortably on our vacation.

Dont Believe the BAD ratings!!!!

I've been to at least 30 different resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico, This one is good value for the money. The food is NOT BAD!!! Go to CUBA and get BAD food! We were travelling with a party of 9, between the ages of 13-43 and there were NO complaints about the food, there was a good selection! No one got overly sick- other than a few upset tummies, to much drinking and sun. Alcohol is NOT watered down like most of the resorts I've been to- beware you will get drunk!! The pool is big and nice [... read more], the ocean has seaweed...and the beaches... but overall its not that bad...just swim past the seaweed. There are free water sports on the resort so utilize that!! The sand is a nice sand, comparable to Cancun. The water color is medium- Cancun nicest- Cuba and here next and Puerto Vallarta least (But I LOVE the people in PV) The rooms are alright, they are nothing exquisite but you are not paying for 5 star at this hotel. King size bed is very hard, the rest of the beds were better, only ours that was hard. we were in room 1206 and could see the ocean. We had 4 rooms. They do allow the locals in on the weekends, but I asked around and ALL resorts do this, so don't think if you go somewhere else you will be avoiding that issue. They are pushy and rude. It was the LEAST favorite part of the trip. Watch out for the French Fry trays cause they swarm around them and are very very rude!!! Take your tours on the weekends- that way you are around that as little as possible) The staff is not the friendliest that I've ever been around- Mexico has the BEST people, but certainly not the worst either! We almost did not go here because of the TERRIBLE ratings, we almost transferred and that would have been a BAD choice, as It was overall one of the better resorts I've been to. The Waterfalls were very cool, All 9 of us went and Enjoyed. The zip lining and Monkeys the Kids really enjoyed and the snorkeling in Sousa was great! If you get your hair braided in the near by market, Condition your hair before you go- Freshly washed, as we all got our hair braided (7 of us) and they almost ripped our hair out! No concern for knots- just yanked! IT was Breezy not Windy- Cuba is Windy. Warm weather there 7 days and 5 were sunny and hot.

Amazing resort

It was a good hotel... food was awesome and they were very friendly... great place to pass an anniversary... had ocean view which was nice as well. Went to ocean world and got to see dolphins upfront and sharks

VERY NICE HOLIDAY

HELLO ALL, WE JUST RETURNED FROM BE LIVE MARIEN AFTER A RELAXING WEEK, THE HOTEL IS VERY CLEAN THE STAFF ARE FRIENDLY AND THANKFULLY THE AIR CONDITIONING WORKED LIKE A CHARM, WE STAYED IN A STANDARD ROOM BUILDING 3 WHICH WAS VERY NICE, WELL APPOINTED, BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE, SHEETS AND LINEN APPEARED FAIRLY NEW, GREAT WATER PRESSURE IN SHOWER AND PLENTY OF HOT WATER, MAID SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT AND MINI BAR WAS STOCKED DAILY, THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD AND NO ONE HAD ANY ISSUES, THE BUFFET WAS BETT [... read more]ER THAN MOST ALL INCLUSIVES THAT I HAVE BEEN TO, THE ONLY THING I COULD POSSIBLY COMPLAIN ABOUT WAS THE BREAKFAST SELECTION DID NOT CHANGE A LOT, BUT HERES THIS COMPLAINT COMING FROM A GUY WHO EATS TOAST ,FRIED EGG AND A COFFEE FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS FOR BREAKFAST, FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ENJOY BEVERAGES BY THE POOL THERE IS NO POOL SIDE SERVICE OR POOL BAR, DURING THE SUMMER THERE ARE A LOT OF LOCALS ON THE WEEK ENDS, WE BOOKED DINNER IN THE RESTARANTS FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, THE SNACK BAR HAD A VERY GOOD MENUE AND WAS USUALLY OPEN, GREAT CHICKEN WINGS AND BURGERS AND FRIES, AND SOME PRETTY GOOD THIN CRUST PIZZA ALONG WITH SALADS, ENTERTAINMENT AT NIGHT WAS HIT AND MISS BUT THATS A PERSONAL CHOICE. WE DID SEE THE JUNIOR SUITE UNIT WHICH WAS REALLY NICE AND YOU CAN HAVE AN ATTACHED STANDARD ROOM FOR AN EXTRA $70 A NIGHT WHICH I THINK WAS WORTH IT, JUST EMAIL THE HOTEL AND THEY WILL ARRANGE THE UP GRADE AS IT WAS NOT OFFERED ON THE TOUR PACKAGES. NOW I REALLY DONT HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS HOTEL BUT I THINK THESE SUGGESTIONS WOULD MAKE IT THAT MUCH BETTER. 1- HAVE 1 OR 2 PERSONS WORKING THE POOL SIDE BEVERAGE SERVICE. 2- SUN UMBRELLAS FOR AROUND THE POOL AS SHADED AREAS ARE AT A PREMIUM IN THE AFTERNOON, 3- A HOT TUB WOULD BE A NICE ADDITION TO THE POOL AREA, WE BOOKED THIS TRIP AS A LAST MINUTE GETAWAY, PAID $750 FLIGHT INCLUDED AND UPON RETURNING WE BELIVE WE GOT A GREAT DEAL, AND WERE ACTUALLY LOOKING TO GO BACK IN AUGUST HOWEVER THE PRICE IS NOW $1100+ SO WE ARE GOING TO SAMANA INSTEAD. I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU BRING A THERMAL MUG, WE BROUGHT 2 , A LARGE ONE FOR BEER AND A SMALL ONE FOR COFFEE AND COCKTAILS, SOME FRANKS HOT SAUCE FOR YOUR EGGS AND WINGS, A RELAXED ATTITUDE AS THIS IS NOT CANADA AND A SMILE, HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A HEALTHY, HAPPY AND SAFE HOLIDAY

Great resort ! Amazing staff !

The beach, resort and staff were all outstanding. Bladimir helped organize a majority of the daily events during my week stay. Friendly, energetic and really got into the games. Very sincere and enjoyed asking questions about homelife. Most nights he would head over and host or help whatever entertainment show was going on that night. A talented young man. One of the nicest people I met while on my trip. George at the bar was another, not only good at his job, but friendly and outgoing. Wonderful resort

We enjoyed everything about the place. Our room overlooked the pool and was most centrally located. All staff were kind and helpful. Food was varied and excellent, desserts were even better. Place is well kept. Keep in mind this is not a 5 star so expect what you pay for. The only negative for me were the weeds on the beach. One other point. I understood the trip was a direct flight before booking. Turned out to be direct only when going there (41/2 hrs) but return included a stop at Punta  [... read more]Cana which made it a 61/2 hour flight. So be careful to check both flights.

Beautiful Resort!!

This is a well cared-for resort with well kept grounds, older but clean and comfortable rooms, and great food!! Friendly staff and an excellent pool area! We stayed there May 3 - 10, 2016 and really enjoyed our vacation!

Very Nice Resort

Overall the resort is very nice. We had booked Ocean View room and it was beautiful, just steps away from the beach. We are beach people and found the beach to be very nice with no very few vendors around. Resort is clean, food is good, staff are all very pleasant, helpful and quick. Would go back to this resort. Only suggestion we have is to have the pool tables available to be played in the evenings.

Relaxing place

loved the location, decor, food, snack bar, drink bars, friendly workers, snorkling excursion, beach, pool. Would like better shows and entertainment at night, wi-fi doesn't work unless you pay for it

Nice resort

Nice pool, clean resort, friendly people, food was decent, liked all three a la carte restaurants, had to asks for towels to be brought to room on arrival, only received one washcloth the entire week, room was cleaned daily, poor communication to guests if any transfer information has changed. Very poor wifi in lobby. Lots of vendors/time shares trying to sell you things ALL the time, hard to walk down the beach in peace due to salespeople wanting to try to sell you something.

Nice Small Resort

Clean Rooms and grounds. Lots of choices at the Buffet. We didn't make it to the Gourmet Restaurant apparently you have to be in the line up early. Disco wasn't very busy but we had fun. Pool was clean and large. Hard to find a chair in the shade and it was very hot. We spent our days at the Beach and could always find chairs and move them to the shade. Be Live Collection Marien Puerto Plata, Dominican

Great time! Lots of activities through the day, was my daughters first trip and she loved it! View was amazing! Staff was great! Buffet was a great selection however some items were not as hot as they could be. Rooms were very clean! Would recommend for sure!

Be Live Collection Marien excellent all way!

The people at the resort are very nice! rooms are cleaned with beautiful flowers everyday on our bed, the food is great and very tasty as well. The beaches are very cleaned. This was my fathers first trip ever! and he enjoyed himself the whole time. Never rained once, but was prepared just in case..The hotel grounds are very clean and the maintenance crew always doing something to make sure the areas are cleaned. No complaint at all. Highly recommend this hotel!

Good resort

Rooms were perfect, nice big pool, a la carte restaurant were very good, buffet needs a bit more variety but good! Very nice staff and the activity team were very fun and outgoing! Had problems with patio lock and within 15 minutrd they came to fix it!!!!

Great vacation!!

It was my husband and I first time in Dominican. We really enjoyed the hot sun and the resort. We almost did get caught with a very pushy time share staff. He was very persistent and even tried to play the pity card. Other than that it was a very pleasant vacation!! We will return!!

Great resort

Hotel , grounds were amazingly clean, food was great. Only issue was our bar fridge leaked and wouldn't keep things cold. Was never fixed , complained desk first night, and also would have liked it better stocked, no rum and only 2 beer per day for the two of us

Enjoyed the holiday

The grounds were well kept, Large choice of food. The house wine needs to be improved. They need more bartenders at the Bars during busy times, midday. The people were very nice and helpful. Great trip with friends.

Fantastic Vacation!

I was a bit nervous to go to the Be Live Marien after reading some of the reviews online before our trip as we were travelling with 4 children (ages 4-9) and my wife's parents, but we couldn't be happier about how our vacation turned out. The Be Live has an excellent layout for families. You don't have to walk to far to get to anywhere. The pool was really clean and we were always able to find chairs even though the resort was fully booked. The staff are the best! There are some souvenir shops to the right but not much to the left. We brought along snorkel gear but there is really nothing to see from the beach. There were lots of beach chairs but limited shade options. We didn't mind though. We would head to the snack shop or to the pool when it got really hot at the beach. The food was fantastic! We enjoyed the buffet food so much that we didn't even go to any of the a la carte restaurants. The staff were very quick to keep our table dishes cleared. You may have to ask for coffee/water every once in a while when they are busy but they are quick to bring it and with a smile. Again, the staff are truly excellent at this resort… from the people at check in, to the serving staff, to the the entertainment group and the cleaning team… Really enjoyed meeting and interacting with them. The rooms are well used but clean. Our TV wasn't working quite right on the first day and they had it replaced the same day we mentioned it. We stayed in Block 7 and 8. Block 8 is the newer of the two, but both were fine for sleeping in. The beds are harder than ours at home but we slept comfortably there. There was very little noise after midnight and when there was, their security were quick to come and quiet things down. (Only happened once while we were there.) There are numerous excursions available and numerous options of who to go with. The sales guys seem "pushy" at first but were genuinely nice people when you got to chat with them. Be Live Marien was a great place to relax with our family and create some unforgettable memories! Thank you Be Live!
