Great Resort / Great Staff

Booked with Air Canada Vacations through Tripcentral's Shauna. With Air Canada we were booked in the Premier Area of the resort. Smaller section, excellent customer service at the check-in desk and great wait-staff at the bar. Shuttles were very helpful as my wife has issues with her knee. Our room in building 3B, 30309 was clean and well maintained through the week. Juan Canche, one of the porters, made sure we had a shuttle to help my wife's knee from paining. Eladia, one of the waitres [... read more]ses in the Premier lobby bar always provided excellent service with a smile. I believe in tipping for great service, which I did on a regular basis. Thank you to the great people of the GBP Coba for making our 5th time at that resort, just as great as the first time.

Excellent, as usual

We have been here 6 times now, and have never been disappointed. The grounds, the food, the activities...everything is superb. We will be back in a year, with the whole family! The Hacienda is super fun, the 24 hr snack shack works perfect for us, and the people...the ones serving us, and taking care of us are phenomenal! If you want to feel like royalty, then stay here!!!

Fantastic and very busy resort (Coba)

We found the Coba was more of a family resort. It was too crazy busy. However, we had access to the Tulum resort which was a bit quieter. It's a shame that the beaches had a lot of stones and seeweed. However, the workers worked hard every day to remove them. The food and drinks were great. No complaints there. My husband and I were at one of their sister resorts a few years ago (Sian Kaan, adult only resort). We would definitely go back to that resort instead. Wonderful Resort

Good choice of restaurants. Buffet gets a bit repetitive. Room was large and comfortable. Large resort but there is a good transportation system to take you around the resort. Beach is experiencing a lot of seaweed but staff works hard to remove it every day.

Family friendly, beautiful resort with great service.

The resort is beautiful, clean, and great for families. The staff provided great service. The privilege club could tone down the aggressive sales pitch. If going to playa de Carmen shopping avenues be prepared to be harassed by the vendors. The food was amazing, tons of variety and tasted phenomenal. Will definitely be back.

Relaxing and upscale resort

Staff were hard working friendly people resort was well maintained family safe and fun resort with many activities for all ages food was amazing nice including 3 a la carte dinners and free shuttle to silver and tequila factory aswell as playa del carmen for shopping maids were doing a great job keeping the room tidy and cozy I would go back in a heart beat

Fantastic resort - we've been there 9 times now!

We love it because it's a BIG resort, so if you like boutique hotels it's not for you. Lots to do on the resort itself with 4 hotels on the complex, 4 buffets, 10 a la carte restaurants, numerous pools and beaches. Some of the beaches did have a lot of seaweed this visit, but they clean it up. Food is great and caters to all tastes. Rooms are large and clean and there's plenty of english channels on the TV. There is free wifi in all the lobbies and it's quite fast. You have to pay if y [... read more]ou want it in the rooms. Weather is usually 30+ every day and watch out you burn really fast! Plenty of local sites to visit, but watch out for the tour operator's prices, they are much more than you can purchase on-line before you leave or even from the hotel directly.

Half decent resort

You definitely get what you pay for , the food and service was ok but definitely not a 4 star + The grounds are big and lots of different activities to do. We enjoyed the fact that you can visit other resorts and there is a casino on location

Amazing resort!

We spent a week in October at the Grand Bahia Principe Coba and we have no complains at all! The rooms, service and the food was good! Shuttle bus service is awesome and the frequency is every 5 to 10 minutes! This one time because of the power outage..water was shut off for few minutes! We called front desk and within a reasonable time someone did check up on us! Don't think much when booking this one guys..as long as you have your sunscreen and insect repellent you are all set to go!

Fantastic resort

Everything was perfect .Room was very clean and well equipped. Bathroom was amazing. Room service was high quality.Transfers from hotel to the lobby and beach was very well accommodated .Food was very good and plenty

Always a good time

My husband and I were back at the Coba for the 12th time in 10 ten years. We always go back because it feels like home. We did miss seeing Viktor he was out having an operation on his knee. We took a ride over to see another friend at Sian Ka’an and to our disappointment he was no longer there. We were told he left and went to Canada. Good for him but bad for the hotel. Rene and Paulino at the pool bar were great. Food is always good and the people are what keep us coming back.

Waterpark & Kids Club - treasures!

My kids (aged 5 and 4) loved the kids club and the waterpark. The Kids club has scheduled activities, and we can always gauge (by talking to the staff) whether the activities are appropriate for our kids or not. My kids looked forward to going and never want to leave. Coba is the furthest away from the beach out of all three associated resorts. We are not beach people, so we didn't mind one bit. Average resort

although a clean looking resort, it is dated, food was average, service was fair to good compared to other sites on the same property such as akumal and sian kaan. the beach was nice but unfortunately at this time of year covered with seaweed both in the water and on the sand. overall the trip was a success with great weather. The golf course at sian kaan was immaculate!!!! would not recommend as a first choice to stay but for the price it was good. the room although was cleaned daily, it was an [... read more]noying to have to kill little flies every night before going to bed for fear of fly bites of which my granddaughter and wife received many. the room also smelled dank, musty, old

Great vacation

Wonderful place to go on vacation with family and friend. Rooms are clean and spacious. Food delicious and great variety. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. The beach had a lot of seaweed but thanks to the hotel crew cleaning the algae constantly, crew we can enjoyed. On the down side, the Privilege Club in a very gentle way they try to attract you their club but surprisingly you can't sign without your partner presence and consent. Would return for sure!

The hotel was well kept and clean. The buffet food was always good and the restaurants were all amazing. We enjoyed every part of this resort. There was no shortage of evening entertainment going right till midnight when the disco opened. We flew with Air Canada and got the premier package which we did not know till we arrived. Great service from our rep who made sure we knew who he was the minute we arrived and checked in with us every day when he saw us. We will definitely go with Air Canada v [... read more]acations again and we will definitely stay in the Coba resort in the future.

Wonderful resort

hotel was amazing, our only complain is that there were way too many screaming kids at the restaurants and the pools.There should a separate area for parents with little kids. We are older people and like to be with people( and kids, I was a kinder garden teacher!!!!) but not with so many misbehaving, spoiled brats whose parents don't care about other guests.We would love to come back, it was our third time at this resort.

Great time

Got upgraded to an ocean view room in tulum resort. Great place, huge hotel, good service. Lots of seaweed, but guys work hard on cleaning it every day. Very warm water this time of the year. Got a great deal too, booked 2 weeks in advance

Stay away from Privilege CLub

All our stay was good except for the experience with the Privilege CLub and the staff. Everything except for the Privilege club staff and their way of chasing you around. The whole experience was unreal. they chase you to get you to sign up. you finally agree and unbelievably, in this 21st century where women are equal to men and capable of making decisions, they do not agree to just having the meeting with the "woman" and the husband has to be present. I was not the only one who suffered this [... read more] discrimination, sexism and lack of respect. My friend was insulted as well as we both went to see the Privilege staff and agreed to go to the meeting and he refused based on company policies and procedures that demanded the husband to be present. this situation was brought to the customer service of the hotel, was also discussed with the privilege staff and all they said was that it was the procedure. I find the procedure demeaning, insulting, sexist and discriminating and the staff and the club should be ashamed of themselves for carrying out such policy. And I really do not care about the explanation of the husband and the wife take decisions together or not. I am a woman and capable of making decisions on my own and with my husband as well. Now for the good things, service was excellent. Jesus from the beach bar was the best! funny, friendly and always had a smile and the right drink for us. The room was always clean although there is this mold smell coming the mattresses. It is time to change those mattresses! The room is cleaned daily and the fridge and coffee and tea products are replaced every day. The food at the buffet is really good except there is not a lot of variety from day to day but you can always find something here and there and is really nice and lots of flavours. best restaurant a la carte is the Brazilian. Amazing food and the service was excellent too. The Japanese was good too and Adiel provides a great show and entertainment. I did not like the fish too much but my family had the beef and seafood and it was delicious. The beach. seaweed but the work the staff does about it is unbelievable!! kudos to the staff and the administration for that job. They do their best to keep the beach cleaned and work really hard for it The resort is big but we were in a room close to the main attractions (buffet and lobby) and the golf carts are also very frequent so we barely had to walk. the Hacienda, we loved it and danced all night. there is karaoke there too and the live music. we missed the entertainment in the big theater (hotel) because never knew what time or what was going on but we did enjoy the live bands at the other place outdoor. the pools are nice although maybe a bit of work on some is needed as there is some dirt you can see in some of them. the beach bars are good and not too busy. I would recommend this hotel for sure, just stay away from the privilege club.

Aweful customer service, room quality poor

Awefull experience, had leaks in 2 differnt rooms and a power outage on top of it. They think a braclet for 2 days is sufficient compensation. They would not respond to my written complaint( leak in bathroom so bad, I had a slip and hurt my back) didn' respond until I used the word lawyer. Would not go back and would not recomend , 5 star hotel with 1 star customer service

Great resort, HORRIBLE BEACH

Distance: Resort was 2 hours away from the airport. Pools: It has a water park for kids, 2 big pools, a pool bar, and a snack bar close to the pool. Maintained clean. There are several lifeguards that patrol the pools and all are very strict and seem to have a deep affinity with their whistles. They blow their whistle every 2 minutes, so it was very annoying. Pools are only open from 7:30 am-7:30 pm. Towel service is only available from 7:30 am - 5 pm Service: a lot of the service folks do no [... read more]t speak English so unless you speak a little bit of Spanish, it’ll take a while before you get what you asked for. The staff are friendly and are really committed to their jobs. Room: clean, spacious. The AC did not have enough ventilation to reach the farther part of the room. The pillows smell like sweat so we had to put towels over them. Safety lock is extremely outdated. You need to carry along the key each time and it’s $20 if you lose it. Food: they have a wide variety of selection. Very kid-friendly and their healthy food selection is pretty good too. Beach: WHAT A LET DOWN. covered in moss, we didn’t get a chance to swim in the ocean as there were truckloads of moss being hauled out for the entire day. Tips: although not required, you’d feel bad not tipping. The servers barely earn $2/day.
