Amazing resort and breath taking Beach

The hotel was better than I expected, beautiful grounds well maintained. Very polite staff, Randy was great with the activities at the pool. Food was better than we expected the A la carte restaurants are a must. The most beautiful beach and crystal blue water I have every seen. Enjoy my post May 7 - 14

Melia Las Dunas

There for my sisters wedding, only reason i went back to Cuba tobegin with. Beach was great...that was it. Poor service, bad food and dirty, stinky rooms. The theme of the resort seemed to be "broken", what wasn't broken...broke during the stay. Over half of our group of 30 got sick there or became sick on the way home. Not a good experience... Save yourself...do not go!

Simply amazing!

Melia Las Dunas was simply amazing and far surpassed my expectations. The care and attention to detail was evident in all areas and food was top notch. I have been to many resorts but the food offerings at Las Dunas was heads and shoulders above the others. Also the attention to detail by the staff was outstanding.

Not happy!!

Rooms were disgusting!! Don't like cockroaches and there were lots in our room!! Service was terrible even tho I tipped them!!would never return even if it were free!! my niece lost her phone and had to pay security to get it back and then refused to give her money back after their investigation (great security)

Amazing Vacation

Hotel, surroundings, grounds and service was a high class. Very clean and nice. Staff was very helpful. The reason not to give 5 star is that the beach was very narrow. Unfortunately this happen few years ago due to a tropical storm. Hopefully we will go again.

Great resort

The grounds were very lovely , beach awesome spent all my time there . There was a drop when going into the ocean but didn't have much of a problem with this . Everyone very friendly & kept everything well stocked . The meals were good . Staff very nice .

Great week of R&R at a very nice resort.

Before reviewing MLD, I must give a shout out to Trip Central in general and especially to Debbie Maguire. Extremely satisfied. The resort had everything my wife and I were looking for. Clean and comfortable rooms, great pools, long walkable beach, and the ocean. You can always find things to nit pick about, but overall it was a very pleasant stay. We will certainly return.

Excellent resort!

This was our second time at Las Dunas and we throughly enjoyed it. Lots of activities and entertainment or just relax. It is a big resort, so you can end up walking a lot, but the gardens are just beautiful. It is nice that there is an adult section with pool that is separate from the family pool.

Would not go back again

The resort was okay but would not go back again. The one thing that we could not live with was the food. The hot was not hot and the cold was not cold...and I cannot handle watching bugs walking on the serving areas. You had to wait for a lot of the food to be cooked and by the time you finished waiting the rest of what was on your plate was cold if it wasn't before. We lived on pizza and poutine most of the trip...and even the pizza they ran out of olives most of the days. The pool was amazing  [... read more]and they had lots of towels and chairs no matter what time you got to the pool. They are understaffed at the hotel and you do have to wait for a lot of things. The people at the sunwing desk acted as you were bothering their day when you had any questions...maybe its just their way of handling things...not too sure.

Loved this resort

This resort was very clean,staff was great, food was ok at the Buffett fiod at the 24 hour snack bar was good burgers were the best. This area had the most beautiful ocean I have seen one of my best trips to Cuba

Beautiful resort

We stayed at Melia Las Dunas from April 5th to April 12th.We had a small issue when we first arrived as they did not give us the rooms we requested on the adult side. We ended up on the family side. We ended up just walking over to the adult side for the pool. Grounds were very well maintained and the staff was very pleasant. We had an issue 2 days with room cleaning. They took the towels from the day before and just hung them on the balcony instead of leaving fresh ones, plus they did leave any [... read more] toilet paper. We called and it was taken care of fairly quickly. We were pleasantly surprised by the food, there was something for everyone. Al la carte restaurants were also very good. Entertainment was ok, I think they need the animation team to interact more with the tourists throughout the day and evening. I am use to seeing other places, which always have at least 4 or 5 of the team, interacting with the visitors and involving them as much as possible. For my first time in Cuba it was enjoyable and the weather was fantastic the week we were there.

Unacceptable

The food was terrible, the grounds were not maintained, there was no sign of a vegetable or decent piece of fruit, the "fruity tropical drinks" were made with powder and most of the staff treated you like you were an imposition.

Great resort

the resort is very large great for walking , has 2 large pool areas adults only and family .Great Beach very long excellent for walks waters is very clear. Rooms are tired looking need work washrooms need Up-Date badly. Our 1 big complaint house cleaning service was definitely the worst we every experience in all our trips

Nice time

Beach was AMAZING, service was GREAT, staff was very helpful when needed, rooms were dated but ok, food was not the best but ok. All in all the vacation was good but could definitely improve in some areas.

Great Stay week March 24th-April 1st

My Fiancee and I attended Melia Las Dunas the week of March 24th to April 1st and this was our first time to Cuba. We are not hard to please people and found the resort exceeded our expectations. The room was clean and spacious, we did have a few bugs and one cockroach when we arrived but that can be expected being our room was on the ground floor. We requested the adult section ahead of time and were very pleased with that, although some music at the pool near the bar would be a welcome additi [... read more]on. I have 0 complaints with the food, it was amazing but it was good. We never starved, had made to order omeletes every morning for breakfast, the beer garden and beach grill had great lunch options and we were satisfied with the buffet and a la cartes for dinner. My one complaint would be the nightly shows. They are something we always look forward to on vacation and here 5 nights in a row was a ballet show. Although it was nice to see once, we would prefer more interactive, tribute or comedy shows. The beach was beautiful. Beach towels were hit and miss to exchange but you don't need a new towel everyday so weren't bothered by this. Would definitely recommend this resort!

Fantastic Trip, Great Weather, Nice Resort!

This place is huge! You certainly get your exercise after stuffing yourself at the great Al a carts, buffets, or restaurants (several places to choose from for eats) The food was great! The room decor is a little dated but certainly clean and cool. All the amenities you need are at this resort. The only thing lacking was some daytime music and entertainment at the "adult" pool.

Not what it used to be.

Hotel is aging, our mattress showed it's 10 years of wear and tear. Sheets provided were torn. Room cleanliness was maintained at a bare minimum. I think one should bring their own bottle of windex...toilets were not cleaned on a daily basis, towels not changed; when I asked for the sheets to be changed the pillowcases were forgotten. I cleaned the mirror in the bathroom myself and would have cleaned the whole room.

Relaxing Vacation

The beach is spectacular! The water is crstal clear turquise, clean and warm. The adult pool is quiet and clean, and the family pool is bustling with lots to do for the kiddies. The grounds are well kept. Staff throughout the resort are friendly but all business at the front desk. My biggest concern and struggle was getting fresh bottled water daily and clean towels. I'm glad I brought my own bathroom towels, facecloth and beach towel. The rooms are dated but adequate. There is plenty of selecti [... read more]on in the food department and several places to eat so it is not difficult to find something that you like. I stuck to freshly grilled fish all week and was not disappointed. There was always something going on in the main lobby in the evenings but difficult to be served for a drink due to full capacity at resort and few bartenders. Overall, a very safe resort to have a quiet beach vacation.

Nice Experience

Beach was wonderful, food was ok,grounds were kept clean,bring you own towels!!! Service was acceptable but nothing spectacular. All in all not bad value for the money. Weather for the week of Mar 23-30 was fantastic!

Fun times

The grounds and lobby were excellent. The decor was elegant and tasteful. The lobby area was a wonderful gathering spot. The beach was phenomenal. The only compliant regarding the beach was that you had to go up to the main lobby to use washroom facility. As well there needs to be consistency with the amount of alcohol in drinks especially for the younger adults. The food was not that good but it was well presented. Overall a great vacation spot.
