Comfortable and safe

Varity of options available ocean, mountain, pool and space to walk. Great staff, very friendly and professional. Clean environment and engaging programs. Food menu and taste needs to improve, at this time there is a lot of waste because food is not tasty and ends up staying on the plates.

Villas Jabacoa - a cozy resort

This resort is a jewel for a 3 star rating. The location is lovely, the grounds are well tended and natural. Staff were helpful and friendly. Many guests I met returned year after year because they felt so comfortable here. It is not posh and fancy but is very comfortable and pleasant. Evening entertainment was quite good. The food is basic home cooking offering a wide variety so I'm sure there would be something for everyone's taste. Meal times were busy and cutlery was a bit skimpy but the sta [... read more]ff worked hard to please. The a la carte restaurant was OK, nothing too special and can be booked one night per week. The bars and snack bars were good. The ocean was warm and you could snorkel right off the beach and see beautiful fish and live coral further out. It was very windy when we were there so the water was full of Portuguese Man of War which kept everyone out of the water until they could be blown back out to sea. I didn't use the snorkelling equipment but I was told they had good, new equipment this year. I didn't see anyone using the paddle boat or kayak but the water was rough when we were there. The rooms were fine, a bit musty smelling and mosquitoes could get in around the doors and windows which was a bit of a problem. There are no screens on the windows or doors so they couldn't be opened to let fresh air in so we ran the air conditioner all of the time (which muffled any sounds from other guests). The staff were prompt in fixing any problems in the room, money can be exchanged at the reception and there is one computer available when you purchase internet time. I would recommend this resort to anyone that doesn't require perfection and would be satisfied with a more casual atmosphere. I would certainly return.

Perfect place to rest and relax

This was my second time at this resort and my partners first we both loved everything about it , the grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. There was always something to eat at the buffet , morning , noon and evening. If you missed the lunch time buffet there was a pool restaurant that offered, hamburgers,grilled ham and cheese sandwiches and pizza. Beautiful Setting

Beautiful setting, with hills in background and Sea in front. Very friendly and trustworthy staff. Food was the best we've had in Cuba. (fourth time ). Trips into countryside and ballgame in Matanzas, very memorable.

A cool holiday

The villa jibicoa was very clean and the grounds were very nice. Unfortunately we spent quite a bit of time in our room as it was very windy and cool. The pool was too cold to swim and the ocean was too rough to snorkel.

Simple, quiet and relaxing

Positives Points: Fast chek in and out. Nice, clean and secure site. Suffisant chairs at the beach and at the pool with choice of shade or sun! (possibility to do snarkling on the site) Bungalows are really private Good to visit either Varadero, Mantaza or Havana (less than 1 hour by cab) Great view on the mountains and easy to go for a hike. First time impressions?

My girlfriend and I have had the pleasure of visiting Villa Jibacoa Cuba recently. The local Cubans are more than friendly. I found a welcome smile at every glance. The resort staff for the most part were also very welcoming however we found a few undesirable glitches but chalked them up as experience due to the very good all inclusive price ( hard to beat). Lets face it people.....snow here....beach and surf there. Need i say more? Food is something to get use to or accept it for what it is. We [... read more] believed that they accommodated us the best they could with what they have. Cuba is a 2nd class world rating and a very affordable trip. Keep in mind....it is what it is. There people struggle very hard there and the way of life is different than ours. I came home with a completely different perspective of my life and what I had in it. In short....Im very thankful, so don't go to Cuba expecting all 5 star living. Only the people themselves meet or exceed that rating. The snorkeling is fantastic but you need to be careful on the windy days. You could easily get shredded or hurt bad. Keep your wits at hand and at all times. There is a flag posted on the beach for you and I suggest you heed its warning. The RED flag is pretty much self explanatory. No one should stay strictly on the resort . For a mere visit to the desk they will set up a reservation for you to be picked up and taken just up the road to a restaurant called LOS MARIUS. Fantastic experience with atmosphere.....Dianee is your host and is the best. Very good English and serves you a seafood dinner to die for and the whole experience including ride in a 50 Chevy there and back for a mere $15 Pecos a piece. I guarantee this excursion at home is easily a $60 dollar plate alone. Havana was great but prepare for a long day. You can easily find a cab with a 10 minute walk outside the gate. I highly recommend asking for Giselle and Yosmany. $50 - $60 Pecos is her cost and easily worth twice her asking price. Giselle knows her stuff and will give you a tour there worth more than you expected. She sure knows her Cuban history and her English is very good. Please tip her well. She deserves it but most certainly does not expect it. I could write this review easily into chapters but the end result is completely up to the individual and there own expectations. All I know is this.......We had met numerous people who will not go anywhere else and have continued to return to this resort ONLY....and for many years and every year! Spend the $$$.....visit the Villa....judge for yourself. We were quite happy yet sad it had to end...BUT YET......there's always next year and I'm counting the days already even as I type this review. SJH

OK resort.

On the plus side, the people working there are great, the landscaping is beautiful, the beach not crowded, there's a great reef right off the beach which is the reason I keep returning. It's a nice quiet location as well, I'm not looking for party central. On the negative side, the food is OK but can be repetitive and the couple of public washrooms on site can be a little dodgy when trying to flush.

Enjoyed our vacation

The grounds were great. Clean inside building but it needs new matreses sheets and pillows. I would have preferred the swimming pool to be heated. The staff was great. Service was great and location ifs perfect.

We enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at Villas Jibacoa from Jan. 19 to 26, 2015. It's important to go knowing you are staying at a 3 star in Cuba and arrive with the right mind set, we did and enjoyed out stay. Our bungalow was #2 and just 100 feet from the beach with a fantastic view from out porch. The room was small with older furniture but was clean. Plenty of hot water and toilet worked well. Lots of loungers on the beach and shade everywhere if you want some. We did some snorkeling which was very good with lots of fish to be seen. Only 2 red flag days while we were there. The bartenders in the lobby bar were great and make better drinks than most resorts no matter the star rating. Rudy was so friendly and makes a mean mojito. Food was just OK but expected at a 3 star. Never went hungry and the servers were super friendly and always smiling. We would defiantly go back. The value you get for the price is what makes Villas Jibacoa a bargain.

Great cheap getaway

The overall review of trip was good. It had everything I needed at the time. It was cheap, clean and people were fantastic and so nice. Bungalows and grounds were great. Beach was not really my style as I don't snorkel but water was warm. Food was edible but would have liked to see more selection and more tomatoes. Lol. Overall, great times!

Great trip and resort

this resort was to my taste. I loved it, room service was fantastic. staff was wonderful and friendly, neat clean, peace full, loved the fruits and salads. I will certainly go back again to same resort.

Beautiful Spot

Rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. Food was standard 3 star fare but always something good. Beach was nice especially for snorkeling, not very long for walking. Stunning views of the mountain behind. Excellent excellent staff all around, tip or no tip. Didn't matter.

Dont expect much....Of ANYTHING!

I've been a lot of places in the south so I'm not a newb to poverty or the way things are in these countries. This place is under staffed to an extreme. The lobby bar is slow as can be. They only have bottled beer at the lobby bar which they charge $1 for. Beer on tap at the pool bar is free. Public bathrooms are disgusting and primitive.(no toilet paper) Wait staff at the buffet are slow and service staff is slow to bring more food as it depletes. This resort is in the middle of nowhere so dont [... read more] expect to shop or be entertained unless you grab a gypsy guide for $60 to take you to Havana. The Breezes resort next door however is like night and day. Great food and entertainment but you get what you pay for. Speaking of food... I'm not a fussy eater and I've always found something even if its just bread but be prepared for beige buffet and limited supply. Snack bar is okay but basic. Meal times are short and odd hours so make sure to pay attention. Dont expect to have the wait staff bring you eating utensils until your food is cold. They are very rude as well. Disorganized and slow. Everything is done slow. Expect to wait ten minutes for a drink even if you are the only one in line. The rooms are the worst I've seen but at least there are seats on the toilets. Showers are risky. They go from scalding hot to ice cold in the blink of an eye so be very careful and quick or you will get burned. The water is extremely hot and scalding. Beach is fantastic - no peddlers. Of all the places I've traveled this has to be the worst resort I've ever been to. Cuba is a great spot to go just not at this resort.

Acceptable resort

Front desk staff nice but very non-communicative. For example, they could tell guests about meal times, location of buffet restaurant. It appears they expected guests to know where such things are because I met wuite a few repeat visitors who were kind enough to show me where things were located. Lovely little cosy place. Great beach for snorkeling, diving. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Clean spacious rooms. pretty grounds. If you're picky about food and variety, go somewhere else. If u get annoyed that there isn't enough shampoo or shower gel or soap, go somewhere else. If you care about snorkling, diving, meeting lovely people, having a relatively tranquil holiday, being close to Havana, come here. Will go back :)

Excellent resort

everything was excellent, the food, hotel, beach front, bar. the only problem was if you want to take a taxi to varadero, havana or matanza you have to pay $40 to $50 canadian each way for 30 minute ride. bus service hard to figure out.

Unique resort

This was our second time to Villas Jibacoa and we enjoyed it even more. We love the privacy of the bungalows, the sprawling grounds, the beautiful scenery, the beach and the amazing snorkelling. The staff were friendly, very helpful and go out of their way to make the visit memorable. The food was better this time with a lot more variety and the coffee is still excellent. We look forward to visiting again.

This resort was perfect for us!

Older hotel located on the beach,great for snorkling. Buildings are quite spread out, very spacious grounds. Furniture in rooms are well worn, but very clean. Any problems we had were taken care of the same day. Between the snack-bar and resturant, we were never without food. Very friendly staff!
