Absolutely amazing!

This was such an amazing experience. The little touches made all the difference. Super clean and the staff are top notch! Would highly recommend and will be back! The meal choices are plentiful. Our favourite was Mikado! Shoutout to some of our favourite staff: Francisco Florida and Nicaury! They are the best!

Clean resort

Very Clean Resort Love the remodelling. The resort was due for a update and it is marvelous! Love the swim ups. Clean rooms. Close to the main lobby and beach front. Staff work really hard at making us happy. Thanks Carlos and Pablo for putting smiles on the faces of your staff. Happy staff equals happy experience.

Wonderful resort

a well groomed property perched on the perfect ocean beach. White sand, aquamarine blue water that was crystal clear. Water temperature was perfect! Lots of wonderful meals and staff could not do enough to make our stay the best.

Excellent rooms

Great hotel. I have been there before and went back to enjoy it again. The beach service is excellent, way better than the other areas of the resort. Our family had been staying next door at the Bahia Esmeralda because their kids were too young to stay at Ambar. So during the day we hung out together. We were not allowed to eat at the Esmeralda buffet for lunch (to our surprise) and were told we had to go to Ambar to eat. I am pretty sure Ambar is the top of the resort so my belief is [... read more] that we should be allowed to eat anywhere, but I was wrong, only at the ala cart restaurants. The other disappointment was going to see the shows at night at the "main" resort (I think its called bavaro). We asked for the upgraded booze and were told that even though we were Ambar we had to pay for it or go back to our bar to get it. The Ambar Manager also confirmed that although did take it off our bill. The reason we get the upgraded packages is for the better booze and it never was like this when I went before. So that's fine - time to try another resort...... too bad.

New Bahía Principe Ambar renovations

Our third time to the Ambar. Always great buy even better this time as all rooms have been remodeled and the exterior repainted a much nicer colour. Also a brand new really nice Sportsbar right on the grounds. The bottom floor now has walkout pools. The food and drink were perfect as usual. Staff are all wonderful to be with. Lobby has new furniture and a brand new coffee shop just outside. Highly recommend the Adults only Ambar.

It was an amazing resort but just a bit too big.

The resort was spotless in every area. Rooms were very nice. We were very close to pool, beach and buffet areas. Staff were very friendly, pleasant and very hardworking. Trolleys taking you around the complex were frequent and went out of their way to get you to your destination. General manager was exceptionally helpful and had great command of English language. Having said that we would definitely go back!

Good and bad

The renovation were very nice, the staff is friendly and very attentitive. The new sports bar and coffee shop are nice additions. The issues I have is it was suppose to be adults only and I paid for adults only but there was children at the beach restaurant that clearly states adult only as well as when I was out in my swim up there was children on the main path in front of me. We all were sick due to the food and our shower flooded and we told staff and they did nothing. Our air conditioning di [... read more]dn’t work as well, the unit beside us had there ac unit leak all over there room and the wall was all messed up and they left them in there which is ridiculous. They have some hiccups that need to be addressed.

Very big with many young people

The grounds were extensive, the food was out of this world, the big machinery on the beach removing the seaweed made it sound like a construction zone. the workers were great, helpful, friendly great service.

Gran Bahia Ambar Blue Great changes

four of us Spent one week Dec 6-13 at the newly renovated AMBAR BLUE not to be confused with the other six properties attached to this adults only resort I love the ambar have been a guest there over 7 times (twice this year ) there is really too many nice things to focus on -- so I will start with the rooms they have changed it all colours services the rooms are great (no smell of mold and damp which at a beach resort is usually the case) nice GRohe hardware, king bed a little hard but you [... read more] can order a topper to make it softer, nice bar area and fridge well stocked but sometimes they forget so just ask for what you need and you get it right away swim up rooms ground floor only and worth it fantastic hundreds of tv stations and great wifi lighting in the rooms concierge service helps to avoid trips to the main desk our man was Elvis staff many of whom are newer (lots of my old friends moved ) but still excellent too many to name at the two buffets and bar the two head waiters at Portofino and Meat are very good highly recommend these two places and Nikkei Mashua at the Aquarmarine next door a real food experience and marvelous cocktails a must visit to all three of these I heard that Limbo was good but didn't make it (at least friends from Milan Italy thought the Osso Buco was great) service wonderful had no problems though I am sure with the amount of people at the resort there are bound to be slip ups but do not be shy about any missteps the management want to know you are happy and well served so step up and ask politely spanish is helpful but lots speak English they will endeavor to please they make you feel special so ask do not assume did not use the pool our group of four were ocean people now the seaweed problem something nature has decided to display but the hotel does an over the top job of removing it constantly so we didn't miss one day of swimming in the marvelous waters the beach is becoming too crowded and we had to get up at 4 am to claim a spot nearest to the water as I had issues with a bad foot and we only had one instance where an ignorant couple decided to move into our area when we were having breakfast but we solved that by explaining that we came out at 4 to put down our towels and they should respect that it was the only time we had a problem but there were several issues of this in other areas the first come first serve works for the most part but some people can be really nasty when you get a space they had the day before but they didn't get up in time to claim it security guards do nothing about this as they are technically not allowed to intervene unless you are from another resort in which case if you do not have a bracelet they send you packing the accessibility area is good for wheelchairs and walkers but it is not near to a washroom servers come around and are very good even delivering ice tea and juice without asking nice touch we asked for an received the rooms and the al la cartes reservations we wanted verty pleased the coffee bar serves the best espresso and coffees but needs to be open at the same time as the buffet there was lots of entertainment which doesn't interest me that much I go for the relaxation and quiet but I think some people need diversions they are trying to make it a little more like a festive party people were enjoying themselves which is goodchange is happening so those we remember the old ambar might find the new one a more active than the old one but still a great experience we are looking forward to returning next year this resort is fast becoming our vacation cottage friendly and just like home

Brutal!!!

Very unfortunately, this Bahia Principe Ambar was no where near up to par with any 4+ star resort I have EVER been to. For a 'brand new' facility, the list of deficiencies is enormous. My large group experienced rooms with no shower doors, no bathroom doors, and toilets dislodging and falling out of walls! On our second last day there, as crowds of people were sitting on the patio enjoying an evening coffee, the coffee shop door, made entirely of thick glass, literally burst into thousands of [... read more] shards of glass for no apparent reason!!! If that weren't bad enough, the cleaning staff unlocked balcony doors to 'clean' the balcony and then left the door open/unlocked and refused to replenish the refrigerator with items that were to be All-inclusive, unless they were paid/tipped daily. The property itself is fine, but the staff (with the exception of a few) were miserable and barely even smiled or entertained small talk. Oh...sensitive to mosquitos? This is NOT the destination for you. I am NOT sensitive at all (been to Jamaica, Mexico and Cuba with no issue whatsoever), but managed to come home with at least 30 bites from this place. Ugh! After spending $1800/person, this resort was a huge disappointment!!! My

Awesome Vacation

This recently renovated hotel was amazing. My wife and I had a great vacation and will be going back. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was unforgettable. Until next time Punta Cana!!!!

Bahia Principe Ambar was amazing !

The newly renovated resort did not disappoint. The rooms were beautiful and ours had a swim up which we loved having access to at any time. The grounds were beautiful. They have a coffee shop and sports bar. The Food was great and the people who work there are so nice. We loved our stay this year.

Amazing resort

I was impressed with resort , staff, service, beach, cleanliness , and overall atmosphere. The pools were great and was advised by our travel agent to upgrade to a room with our own swim up pool to the patio. Will be going again

5 Star Luxury

The Ambar renovations were all complete when we arrived Nov 9th and was only about 1/4 full as part of their 'soft opening' and our first visit to Dominican Republic. The Lux Bahai Principe Ambar's 534 Adult only rooms are part of the 5000 room Bahia Principe complex in Punta Cana. However; the design of the resort allows Ambar guests to feel very pampered and 'protected' from the rest of the Bahia resort. All 8 Ambar blocks have swim up pools on the ground floor rooms. The swim up pools  [... read more]offer privacy but are also shared with 7 other rooms. Each block had it own concierge. Warning: I would not want a room on the west side of the 4 blocks on the west side, as they face an ugly concrete wall that is about 4 stories high belonging to the resort next door. . The sandy beach and water were beautiful. The beach is deep but not that wide. So even though the resort was only 1/4 full you had to put a towel down at 600 am if you wanted chairs with shade in the 'front row' of the Ambar beach. However, if you did not need to be in the front row, there were always lots of chairs available at the beach and pool. Unlike the other resorts, the Bahia always had lots of guys raking any seaweed off the beach. We often 'gifted' these workers with the contents of our mini bar. The other resorts on the beach often had a lot of seaweed. The Ambar had beautiful grounds and a wonderful pool that was right beside the beach. We found all the staff, friendly and very helpful. We were pleasantly surprised to find more youngish guests form Argentina than Americans. :) My wife and I consider ourselves food lovers and found the food quality quite good. Caviar for breakfast anyone? None of our dinner reservations emailed 10 days prior to arrival had been set up. But the concierge in our Block was able to book our dinners the first day we arrived. The best meal was at the Limbo and we both liked the steak at the M.E.A.T. restaurant. Other than the LImbo I thought the food quality at the Buffet was as good and offered more variety than the a la cartes. Tuesday night is seafood night at the Buffet, which ran out of Lobster at about 745 pm. ( But some guests were grabbing 2 lobsters) During our stay we mainly drank the 'champagne' which was dry and only 5% alcohol. You could have the 'Champagne' delivered to the room at any time and it was at all the bars and restaurants. The house wines were unfortunately undrinkable. Which was surprising as they have a very pleasant and knowledgeable sommelier. We brought 7 bottles of wine with us and had no problems drinking these at the restaurant or buffet. They even offered an ice bucket for our whites. ( (However; I should mention we were lucky NOT to be a tourist to have our suitcases x-rayed when going thru local customs.) You could buy wine at the Restaurants/Buffet, but would have to pay $50US+ to get a bottle we can buy in Canada for $15 CDN. There is a nice Coffee shop beside the lobby where you could order really good espressos. cappuccinos etc. You can also order these coffees at the the Buffet from your waiter. The Wifi was quite fast in the room and lobby. Use Network 1SSID_V2 as it was faster than BahiaPricipleFreeWiFibyEurona. When waiting for the flight to return home from Punta Cana; be aware there are two free areas at the airport to wait. One is noisy and NOT air conditioned, the other, on the other-side of the food-stalls, has AC and is much quieter. Would we return to Bahia Ambar Punta Cana? -Definitely!! But we were impressed enough by Bahia Lux, we might check out another Bahia Lux resort first. Thanks so much to Tanya Smith at Trip Central for recommending another wonder vacation spot. We trust your judgment and will definitely book with you in the future.

Amazing resort and amazing staff. just need some reno on the bathrooms. The only disappointment I had was the POOR service of Air Transat. aircraft too small and no room to even move in the seats. they are not even trained to get people proper service., it is just another flight to these people.

I liked the hotel, staff, grounds etc. I think they can improve on the quality and variety of nightly shows offered. I also think they need to offer more chicken variety in the buffet at Amber Blue. The staff at the resort was most helpful in every way possible. i will highly recommend this resort to everyone and i will also definitely be going back there.

Was fun but can improve a tad bit.

we thought the place was great, but had a few issues that can be improved on. Between 7 resorts there was only one theatre and it was all in Spanish, which is a little hard to communicate, with service and staff. There was no program or any guides or anything letting us know of any events of anything thats going on, rather a little disorganized. They attempted to clean up the seaweed on the beach front but sadly didnt do that great a job so that got a little annoying. only other thin [... read more]g is the lack of bathrooms available at the pool and beach which is a little worrying. Otherwise, i think the staff still attempted to provide good service, we really enjoyed the beach front on the lawn chairs/beach chairs, the beach was still amazing and was nice to relax out in the sun.

Nice vacation

Needs some attention some parts look a little tired otherwise nice hotel Staff very friendly food was good most of the time Butler service excelent Horam was the best very polite and he could not do enough for you he is 5 star *****

Amazing Food!

This resort was quite excellent. The food, and the service were great. Our room was cleaned and spotless the whole week we were there. The Outback Safari adventure was terrific, thanks to our guide "Jesus".

Beautiful resort

The resort offered something for everyone. We had a variety of food choices and snacks. The grounds were always clean by morning and our made was very good. The pools are very large and you had lots of room to relax in them.

Amazxing Trip! Great people! Awesome Resort!

The pools were large and warm, The grounds were kept clean, The food was very good and plentiful, Restaurant's were amazing, People were mostly friendly, you ran into the odd grump. Pool bar they did not add alcohol to drinks so after a few daiquiris I clued in that you need to say add rum. Over all GREAT time and the tours they offered had something for everyone to enjoy.
