If you're a beach lover, think twice!

The hotel is large and manicured very well, food was decent but had real issues with lack of space on the beach and the rude beach security guards. You can't go past a certain area on the beach with your chairs and this is extremely monitored closely. If you're a beach lover and enjoying spreading out so that you've got some space between you and the people next to you, I would strongly urge you to go elsewhere.

Almost perfect!

Staff was excellent, resort well maintained & clean. Only complaint was a room mix up upon check in, had to wait 2 days to be fixed. Otherwise it was fabulous!! This resort is big though, so you'd better love walking!

Sunset Princess Is A Beautiful Resort

If you like lush green gardens and polished marble floors then this is the place for you! Although there are a few places that look a little tired and in need of attention this resort has it all! Ala carte restaurants were booked early so if you like to dine there instead of the buffet restaurant I advise you to book them as soon as you arrive. The Japanese restaurant is by far the best one and is the first one booked. Service was good and had no issues and I am in the customer service industry and my bench mark is quite high. The swim out rooms were clean and beds were reasonably comfortable with a daily stocked fridge that held a limited amount of soft drinks and local beer. A tip to the housekeeping staff on the first day will ensure your looked after ;) The gym was lacking in equipment but enough to get you started on a healthy and relaxing day. A ten minute cab ride will take you to Playa Del Carmen where shopping, restaurants and bars are plentiful. We booked with Sunwing and had no issues booking excursions, I recommend you attend the morning briefing to orient yourself if this is your first time. All in all great value and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great resort

Rooms were clean, bathrooms fabulous, great food at the buffets. Wifi worked in our room but was an additional charge of $70 for the week. Nice disco, great pool areas so you could decide if you wanted the party pool or not. Beach was a bit rocky in the water, and definitely hard to find a place, pool was almost as difficult to find place to sit and reserve chairs. They being drinks to you at the pool and beach though. Fabulous second time around

This was the second time we have stayed at the Grand Yucatan Platinum swim out room and will be back again. Resort is maintained pristine inside and out. Staff are friendly and accommodating and restaurants are great!

My favorite.....great resort

The grounds are spectacular ...and the entertainment is top notch ...this is my second trip back and there will be a third '!!!!!!! The staff are so friendly and they definitely treat you extremely we'll. great food and drinks

Got better

2 male friends in playa del carmen to do some fishing . Repeatedly asked before we left for 2 double beds, got a king and one of us ended up on a cot the first night. Next night got 2 double beds but were over looking construction (noisy). Went to the sports bar one night and the hamburgers were raw , told the bar tender and he could have cared less as all he wanted to serve was beer . if you asked for a drink that he had to mix , he avoided you. Buffet restaurants were great, food was good , st [... read more]aff were great . Front desk and cleaning were also very good. Booking the specialty restaurants was not very easy as you had to book 3 days ahead and most were booked up. This was my second time at sunset princess and i'm not sure that I would come back.

Phenomenal Trip

The best vacation my wife and I have ever had. We went for our honeymoon and stayed in the Grand Yucatan Platinum suite. It was the adults only section. It was great, room service was great. Food was amazing. Some dishes were not my favorite but the buffets had lots of variety. The a la carte restaurants were really good. Japanese and Italian food were the greatest. Each night had fun entertainment and good music. Playa del Carmen had great areas for shopping and a beautiful beach. Service excee [... read more]ded our expectation in every way and not one person did not do their best to comply to our requests. I recommend this resort to anyone especially couples. On a side note the adults only section is being expanded to 3 times the size and will be completed by December so another trip down is most likely coming for us next year. We were just there May 21st to 29th 2014.

Nice resort

Resort was nice but way to big lots of walking involved our room was at the back of the resort near the beach so it was about a 15 minute walk to the front for dinner our air conditioning was out in our room took three days to fix stayed in the penthouse suites asked for a king bed got 2 doubles

Beautiful resort

My wife and I thought the resort was just amazing. The rooms were clean, nice big bathroom we loved the shower and tub. The food was great, so much to chose from, the fruit and vegetables were so fresh. We would go back in a heart beat. The service was top notch, the staff were friendly and kind. When we go back we would like to stay longer next time.

Amazing place!

The food was exceptional! The grounds were beautiful kept. Room service was great. Rooms were clean. We loved the Chill Out Lounge. We recommend Platinum. The extra service there was awesome. We would love to go back.

Beautiful resort!

The resort was impeccable! Spotless clean, classy atmosphere in adults only area. Food tasty. Bartenders were fabulous and pool staff great. Best jerk chicken. Only downfall is distance of swim beach. Quite a walk but all amenities are there once you get there. Resort is an hour cab ride to anywhere. Best day, we rented cab driver named Tyrone and he drove us to see towns, Blue Hole, for jerk, ochos rios. It was best family day ever! Ask for Tyrone at cab desk
