Great Resort to visit

This is our second time at Iberostar Laguna |Azul in 3 years we saw a big change inside....it needs to be upgraded especially in the bedrooms but the staff is super nice...the pool area is super nice and clean.....a la carte has great food the rooms are super clean.....:)

Iberostar Laguna Azul

The overall resort was beautiful but, unfortunately, needs maintenance in order to keep a good reputation. Elevators did not all work, and some worked poorly at times. This makes it difficult especially for people with mobility issues or small children. Food was typically Cuban, but there is no reason why every meal has to be cold - all day long! The main buffet area was large, so had to often wait for the table to be set up, or for requests for anything, especially salt. Shaded areas at th [... read more]e pools and beach were not adequate, as well as many shingles missing on the bungalows, mainly due to the hurricanes last fall, but lead to more problems later on. The lobby was beautiful, entertainment there very good, but at the theatre it was very repetitious, with very agile dancers every night.

3 Star Resort

This resort was disappointing! The building we were in had no water for two days from 10:00 in the morning until 7:00 at night and we had no air conditioning for the first two days. There was no shade around the pools and the beach you had to get up before 7 o'clock to get a hut and soon after that all the chairs were gone. The food was very bland so I ate a lot of bread! The white sand beach and water was amazing.

Nicely laid out

The grounds are well kept, beach is wide, hotel is close to water, staff is very friendly. Food was good, but could be more varied. The only negative is bed was not very comfortable... and pillows were terrible!

Great resort

The food was decent in the buffet. The Japanese restaurant was the best. Staff was friendly. Grounds were clean. Public bathrooms near the pool and beach could have had a little more attention. The beach was beautiful but you have to get there early to get a chair in the shade. Parts of the main pool were closed off because of damage to the bottom.

Excellent resort in most respects

This resort is well designed, the ground well maintained, the three pools are excellent with the centre pool for the lively and two other pools for the more sedate. Our room on the fourth floor of building 12 was a superior room in all respects and the maid kept the room shipshape -her towel art the best we have seen in many visits to the Caribbean. The buffet can be crowded especially at breakfast and the limited staff do the best they can. There are two areas of concern, the elevators are not all functional and on two occasions there was no water available for several hours. If these two problems are addressed the resort could be excellent in all respects.

Great Resort

After reading both very positive and very negative reviews of this hotel, we didn't know what to expect! The place is gorgeous, with a beautiful beach and three really nice pools. Everything was clean and well-maintained. There was a wide variety of activities and entertainment options and different places to eat or drink. Service was consistently good from checkin to checkout. Our room was spacious, with a nice bathroom and comfortable bed. The food was fine - we certainly did not go hungry. [... read more] We had full breakfasts with eggs, bacon, toast and fruit; big salads for lunch with cheese and all sorts of stuff to dress them up, and lovely dinners, either at the buffet or a la carte restaurants. We had lobster, shrimp, fresh fish, good sushi, pizza, Japanese food - pretty much everything. We had a great time and my only complaint is that we had to come home!

Nice Resort, Great Beach, Amazing Staff!

Hotel was fairly nice for Cuba, rooms were big and comfortable. The staff was amazing and drinks very good. Very nice section of beach and many pools to choose from. Not very close to town, however the double decker bus stops just outside the gate. Would return for sure!

Great resort

We originally got a room on the ground floor but had to move as the rooms were too musty. We decided to upgrade and loved our room. Facilities were great. Entertainment was amazing. Staff were phenomenal.

Beach is a 5 star

The grounds were beautiful. The beach was gorgeous. The beds were horrible, didn't sleep all week, going to chiropractor now! Been to other resorts in Cuba and the food was maybe a 2 at best. Beach chairs always occupied by 7am! Our maid was great. Tips were expected or no smiles due to all the rude tourists. I felt bad for the workers. We met amazing people still had a great time. The airport was a mess. Immigration took my mom's boarding pass and waited until boarding to tell her she couldn [... read more]'t board! I threw a fit and we boarded after they insulted her , I was stressed for her heart, senior citizen! I paid for my food then they told me I didn't and I stole the sandwich at the airport! I think I'll go to cayo coco next time. The service, airport, more Canadians , 3 star hotels have better everything!

Nice resort

The resort in beautiful as is the beach (ofcourse). If you are looking for a mostly relaxing vacation this is your place. While there are things to do(shuffle board, boccia ball etc) there is not alot of entertainment. Never did the ala cartes but should have. Buffet not very good. Could always find something to eat. But never that exciting. For 1000. Its fine. Anymore, look elsewhere.

Nice clean resort

We were there March 24 18 for one week El mohito steak seafood restaurant in varadero. Good iOS and very cute and private dining. 1952 Plymouth Ricardo our cab driver. Awesome guy and lots of fun Our room 10321 3rd floor nice can see ocean sun at supper on deck ask for few more beer in room seem hesitant to give u any at first. Food average for Cuba it was not bad better than five years ago but was at another resort. Cheap in fillings at omelette station never have had that on any vacation. Mostly an egg when u get maybe half tsp of fillings u want. Didn’t like the water downed juice in morning or it’s powder. Sometimes like watered down tang. Was looking forward to great orange juice. Snack bar in one side had fish and chips and chicken and chips. Do not miss out on that. It was so yummy. Rooms very clean no bugs beds not so great but tolerable. Screens on doors would be nice and also umbrellas for pool area. Not one there. One pool quieter pool has bar was to have snack bar but the whole week no food there. Awesome staff at swim up bar. Felix and Aileen and Roberto u rock. Service for drinks around the pool and always cleaning up all day. Cuba u beat any destination out on this and keep it up. Never no glasses and mess around pool. The pools were amazingly clean and lots of pool areas for so not crowded. Ground keepers working hard to keep everything looking beautiful. Half hour to 40 mins from airport. I would go back to this resort again.

Another Wonderful vacation at Ibeorstar Laquna Azul!

This was our 4th time to The Iberostar Laguna Azul.We always look forward to returning & can't wait til next year.The staff are #1 , they really make this place special.Very clean resort lots of food.Great pools & The best beach!All the A la carte restaurant were really good but the Japanese is the Best!!All in all a great resort. Great Resort

This resort was well kept, nice grounds, fabulous beach...rooms were a little dated but clean and comfortable, staff was terrific, animation staff was amazing, always lots to do at the resort....beach party, live band on the patio, numerous other games and events...it is a large resort but laid out well so nothing is too far away, lots of room at the beach, easy to get chairs....the only thing is the long line ups, there is not enough staff to serve the amount of people at the resort...wait time [... read more]s at the bars and for pasta at the dinner buffet were over 1/2 hour long, same with breakfast....but, lots to eat and good food if you don't want anything made by the chef

Cuba vacation

Amazing views, nice beach and pool area. Friendly staff. We had some bumps with check in as our flight arrived early in the morning (6 am) and check in time is 4 pm, so we had to wonder the halls and grounds till 2 pm when rooms became available.

OK Resort

The resort is laid out very well and was easy to get around. It needs to be updated and they are on some of the areas. When we first arrived we were given a room with twin beds on the ground level after requesting a king and at least one level higher. The air conditioner did not work, no door on the safe, bathroom door was broken, and the room was not clean. It took 2 days to get moved to a different room. We have been to Cuba 16 times and this was the first time we felt the staff at the resort were not that friendly (a few acceptations). We would recommend but would give the heads up on issues.

Great trip, beautiful resort.

Just returned from a week at Laguna Azul, and we were very pleased. We went on the recommendation of our agent and we weren't disappointed. The resort was beautiful and well taken care of. The staff was very friendly, and we were well taken care of. A shoutout to the bartenders they were amazing. The food was outstanding, lots of variety, we didn’t go hungry that’s for sure. The entertainment was also great, always something going on by the pool or beach, and the night shows were outstanding [... read more]. We met alot of great people. We will definitely be returning to Iberostar Laguna Azul.

Fourth time to this resort!

I have been 4 time to Laguna Azul in Varadero, and this was the worst it has been. We arrived and there was no proper room for us. The staff was gracious enough to give us a room for a short period to make it a bit easier. The no water issue was also a big problem the first few day. After these issue everything seemed to come together for a fantastic vacation. I love this resort, but they could improve some areas.

Beautiful Resort

Staff was very friendly, the shows in the theatre were wonderful. Rooms were very clean , however the king size mattresses were uncomfortable, double bed mattresses were better. Buffet was good, but for a big resort it would be better if it had more stations for fresh cooking because the lineups for eggs and omelette s were very long as there were only 2. Great Resort

The resort was large, lots of pool areas to choose from whether you wanted to relax or enjoy the various activities. The buffets took some getting used to, finding something that you felt comfortable eating however as the stay went longer the comfort with the food was good and was quite acceptable. There were some issues with the 1st room but we were given a new room and all was fine...4 out of 5...we enjoyed our time!
